Met my fiancé here we love going there’s always very busy, but the dancing and music is great. Bartenders are great and super busy.

Great atmosphere, good people, good alcohol selection at reasonable prices, great live music. Bartender is outrageously cute and friendly. Guy grilling in the back, Jason, is a master. His bacon grilled cheese was a religious experience.

I don't even like country music, and I had so much fun here. Everyone else you to dance. I made new friends, it was so easy to be there by myself. I would totally go back

If you looking for some place to square dance or line dance this is an obvious choice. I like this cowboy saloon for other reasons. A handful of cozy booths are nice place to you sit and sip some whiskey, while you watch the line dancing lessons. Maybe the stake out your spot soon enough in the day and hold on to it till I evening you can actually watch real line dancing. I'm a fan of a drink and a show and this is a pretty good price for that.

Just a fun place to go. Live country music is always great. Croud is fun and plenty of dancing on large dance floor. Drinks are good and pricing reasonable. Bar tenders are great.

Really fun country line-dancing bar with live music every night and no cover! The crowd is generally older than most of the other SoCal country bars. Everyone is really nice.

What a fun night learning how to two step and have a feww drinks with friends! 10 bucks for dance class, great exercise and fun.

I like the place a lot but its always so darn hot in there. It just makes it uncomfortable. Especially after dancing a song or two. So, it was my birthday and spur of the moment my friends and i decide to go there. It was just a few minutes before 11pm and the band was already breaking down and the bartender called last call a few minutes later. Why are they closing so early? I don't get it.

Never been here but stopped by to say RIP to Toby Keith who shot a video to his NO. 1 hit, I LOVE THIS BAR! Please pay tribute to him tonight when you open! God Speed Toby Keith! Thank you for the bar hopping memories

I love the Cowboy Palace, have been going there for years. The bands are always good, I am happy to call a lot of the musicians my friends. My husband and I had our reception for our wedding there, it was fabulous, since we know everyone, or if we don't , they know us!😊

Do you like country music? A relaxed chill environment? Live music? Inexpensive dance lessons you can do while drinking with friends? A place you can feel comfortable at ANY age? Well giddy up and come on down! It will be a memorable night.... 🤠🐄

This place is an absolute gem!! Live band plays all night long, incredibly talented musicians, great people, strong drinks. Dance dance dance! Every time we come here it's such an amazing time... there energy in this place is like no other bar. I wish I lived closer!! PS- definitely bring out the cowboy boots.

Great place and live music! The staff is friendly and the other guests are happy to teach you the dance moves, recommend this place to anyone looking for live country music. A important thing to note is that this is only a bar, but they have a food truck outside and they let you order takeout as well.

P

I still don’t have the moves but the rest was great

I live right down the street. It was live. I'm shy so I just sat at the bar had a drink. This one guy slid this lady across the dance floor. I'm going back

Absolutely love how it's decorated with old boots hanging around the bar. Has a really great look to it very beautiful, the restroom is very clean and modernized and feel comfortable to us. The bar tender was very polite and attentive. Love how they have dance lessons every night it's so amazing. can't wait to go back.

This bar is a treat! All vibes in this classic gem of a country western bar. The staff is so warm and friendly. The food isn't great but welcome after a night of dancing!

The atmosphere in here was so great. Everyone was friendly and helpful if you needed something. In the bathroom some of the Ladies complimented a few of my things which was so sweet and made my night. The bathroom was SO small and cramped though. Everyone in there was commenting on it and we tried to get out of eachother's way to use the sink, mirror, or even opening a stall. Lol But, it kept us talking and interacting more than a silent quiet visit so I'm not complaining. I didn't get to do any dancing but the music kept me grooving at the bar and while playing pool. Great selections. When we left at closing no one was there shoving us out rudely or anything. It was pretty chill. I can't wait to go again and do some line dancing and meet more people. Thanks for the good vibes and such a good place to hang out!

R
Rosemary Rieger

Good country vibes, great dancing scene, there are only two pool tables but we still had fun and the people who played pool were fair so nobody hogged tables :) The drinks were good bar drinks, nothing special but still good. Definitely a fun place to go and hang out!

It's a totally fun place!! I love the live bands. Everyone seems to know each other. Everyone is very friendly. But I really need to take line dancing lessons. It just so happens that this place offers line dancing lessons!!! I highly recommend this place.

If your looking for something new to try or need a good date night idea check out this place. From 6pm-8pm they teach you how to dance country style, then enjoy a night with some country music and hospitality. Even if you're not a dancer you will enjoy the show and love the atmosphere.

C
Chanta Lobin-Thomas

This place is very warm and inviting. Everyone was kind and helpful. The dancers there will help you learn the dance moves. We were invited to come game again and I definitely will. Also, the bartenders were amazing. So nice. I never felt ignored. A great place to try for a new environment.

This is an actual Honky Tonk. Wednesdays and Sundays have the most room for the two stepper. Although there is a lot of two stepping on Thursday Friday and Saturday as well. There's some line dancing most every night. It's cozy small and intimate. If a small Dance Floor bothers you then this place will bother you. The atmosphere is awesome the people are great I always feel safe here. And I like a small dance floor because it leads to a lot of great smiles

T

Love it here so much. Always fun dancing, drinking, and the bartenders are very nice. Feels like we're in the music video. always top off a great night with my daughters boyfriend getting in the ol usual end of night bar fights. He always gets a good punch in someone's face. Love the support of the bouncers. Really, you guys are a big help, especially getting me in my car. Will be back again soon for the usual shenanigans. Spent about 400+ on alcohol and it was the best 400 ever spent- see yall soon yeehaw

Live bands every night they're open. Lots of happy regulars, visitors from far & wide, and frequent birthday parties etc. Crowded on weekends. 2 pool tables. Small parking lot, so mostly street parking in the neighborhood. But it's really about the dancing, and the dance floor is usually completely full. They have good beginner line dance lessons on Wed, Thu, & Sun. But no partner lessons, which is a shame because after the lessons and all weekend, partner dancing dominates the floor. Beginning women will find ready older partners to lead them, but absolute beginner guys who don't bring their own practice partner will usually be spectators, with line dances few and far between. I wish they brought in serious partner lessons a couple times a week, especially for the leads.

S

Our friends are locals so we decided to check this place out. First off, the bartenders and staff were lovely. Our group had so much fun drinking, dancing, and watching all the beautiful people show up in their best outfits. The crowd was welcoming and diverse. You can be out front dancing or lay back and have a nice conversation. Great atmosphere and live music. Be back soon. :)

M
Mitsu Chavda Patel

Tried line dancing for the first time here and absolutely loved it. Even though the place was packed, it never felt chaotic or overwhelming, which made the whole experience really enjoyable. As someone who had never done line dancing before, I really appreciated that there were beginner-friendly dances as well as more advanced ones for experienced dancers. One of the nicest parts of the night was simply watching the couples on the floor, they were clearly having a great time, and it added such a warm, fun energy to the atmosphere.

If you’re into westerns and what that culture is about, then this is your place. A gem, relic, should be declared a historical site by now - incredibly talented musicians (if you play, you can go up on stage and play as well), friendly and attentive waitstaff (not so much the security guy), and the crowd is very outgoing and accepting of newcomers (us). Free line dancing lessons if you go early. Stiff drinks (as they should be in a western bar). Highly recommend a visit. Friday and Saturday are their busiest.

Only place like it around this area. It was a whole vibe with boots hanging and fun music. One of the owners took the time to do some line dance tutorials and was super friendly and encouraging. The regulars were fun to try and follow, but felt a little aspirational the first time going. They were super accommodating for my friend's bday gathering!

Came here with some friends and had a great night learning how to line dance! Cover is $10 and included when you pay for a drink. There’s a small parking lot in the back but free street parking nearby. Service is slow and they seem pretty understaffed, but the music and the live band was great. The line dancing is taught at different times in the night at different levels of difficulty. You’ll have to come back for multiple lessons. Overall super fun, would recommend.

The Cowboy Palace is my new home for Country music. Nothing like a live band Wednesday through Sunday with line dancing and two stepping music. I absolutely love this place and love the bartenders named ashley. If you want to see what a good time looks like visit the last real Honky Tonk in Los Angeles California.

I have been wanting to come here for as long as I’ve known about it, but have always felt really intimidated. But finally made it happen last night! I learned some steps from Mike (they have free lessons!) , drank some Coors Light, danced to LIVE MUSIC, and met some wonderful people. There was a very diverse group of people in attendance which made my heart sing! All ages, races, sexual orientations, and fashions. I am from the south, and I can tell ya, sometimes places aren’t so welcoming to all. But, I got the feeling here all are welcome! The ONLY downside was, because it was Saturday night, at some point it did take a long time to get a drink. But, it wasn’t because the bartenders were slacking! I’ve never seen such hard work! It was just so busy! I hope everyone tipped them well! I was glowing from the inside with happiness. You can take the girl out of the country, but…Thanks Cowboy Palace! I really want to try to make this a regular spot! See you soon!

I spent about two weeks there on company business and was able to break away in the afternoons after work and wind down with some of the most fun and welcoming two-stepping fellow customers. I met the cool DJ, bartenders, and owner's wife. I dance to my own beats after a few shots and returned the next night.. Great bar jokes and Pool tournaments. I especially enjoyed watching some of the most beautiful gracefully aged ladies who were much hotter than man younger gals I've ever met. I met a 70+ year old guy (Mike) there who dated a 60 year old beauty queen (Sarah). She was Hottttt. Furthermore, I met a Japanese American (US Army Vet) who shot a few billiards matches with me, and a Vietnamese Lady with a very smart dog. I had lot's of fun with a lot of cool white people and I loved it.

The Palace! I was a bartender here back in the '90's! I will be as objective as I can as I know a few people that still work.there and I only really have one fault in these stars! We got there before the line dancing lesson began. (I am SOOO relieved that they are still doing nightly, free line dancing lessons!) We had been there almost 45-minutes without being allowed to play music, by the day bartender (not Irene or Maggie...I forget her name) because of "line dancing starting soon". Well, a beer or two into our pool games, I fired up Spotify so we had tunes. But the band was AMAZING and the drinks were PRIME!!! The band is at a PERFECT volume for dancing, partying and the hitching post out back is such a breath of fresh air. It is still standing and I hope riders continue to use it. The food truck was a great addition with a HUGE menu! Everyone needs to spend a few hours of their lives making a memory in the Cowboy Palace Saloon. It truly is legendary. #ILoveThisBar

Great place if you like country western dancing. Had a blast with the free lesson and then getting to practice out on the floor. This is a great place to relax, have a beer, dance, and eat some bbq. Especially if you love country!

I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because Shaboozey was not around back.. I have to say, this is not where I expected this place to be, I the video it looks as if it's in a small Midwest farm town out in the middle of nowhere but boy was I wrong, plus nobody was in the bar getting tipsy so as it stands it get 4 stars, If the owner would message me the next time shaboozey is in the back with with his 3 homies and the dancing blunt rolling chick I will be more than happy to change it to 5 stars , but for now 4 is where it stands...

T
Tiff

I received a message a while back about this place getting a change of management and an invitation back. It's been probably a year, my friend wanted to come by for a dance class they offered for free so I decided to come back. Wow what a difference. The ambiance was friendly, No matter who came through the door. If I could I'd give. This place zero stars I would of but they have changed they deserved more. Awesome and polite service $7 for wine. Great 5 shots of whiskey for $55, not bad I will recommend this place NOW Bring your cowboy boots and hats.

Fun place if you know the dances, otherwise you’ll be shooed off the floor. Kind of small dance floor for how busy it gets.

This is a dancing spot like no others. The name says it all. Great place to grab a drink and dance to live music or enjoy live music and watch the dancing. I did not eat here so not sure how the food is. I would definitely go again

6 Modelo's plus tip is $80. Only one bartender so service was slow. If you're into line dancing, this place seems to have a good local country community. Go for the atmosphere not the beer.

M
Michael Tapscott

It's hard to rate this place. It's open to everyone, and you will feel welcome, but it's built around the regulars. It is a true honky tonk! That's reason enough to go if you don't have that sort of thing where you live. My wife and I love to dance, but from our perspective, it was all line dancing and sequence dance. It's great if you come every weekend and know all the line dances and sequence dances, but not so great if you want to get on the floor for two-step, swing, cha cha, etc. That said, if you want to go to a real honky tonk and watch some great choreographed dancing, go here!

T
Troy Weymouth

Overall, I love this bar. The staff are great. What I hate is when bikes are allowed to use the handicap parking space for motorcycle parking and security says nothing about it. I rode bikes for years. I work security in LA. And I’m a disabled vet with a handicap plate. That space is there for a reason. Act like it.

The Cowboy Palace Saloon is widely regarded as "the last real honky-tonk in Los Angeles," offering an authentic Western experience steeped in local history. Originally a garage in the early 1900s, the building transformed through various names and owners before becoming the iconic country music hub it is today. Visitors are often captivated by the rustic decor, which features cowboy boots hanging over the bar, blue jeans on the walls, and a vast collection of signed celebrity photos from famous patrons like Willie Nelson and Arnold Schwarzenegger. * Atmosphere and Entertainment: The saloon is known for its lively, inclusive, and down-home vibe where regular cowboys and newcomers alike mingle over live music. * Features live country music performances Wednesday through Sunday nights. * Offers nightly line dancing and two-step lessons before the main crowds arrive. * A popular filming location, notably serving as the backdrop for Toby Keith’s "I Love This Bar" music video. * Equipped with pool tables and hosts a daily Happy Hour from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Overall, the Cowboy Palace Saloon is highly recommended for anyone seeking a genuine taste of cowboy culture and a vibrant nightlife scene centered on dancing and country music.

Stopped by to get a drink. Had to pay a $10 cover charge for a band that wasn't going on for an hour and a half... didn't tell me there was a cover charge until after I order and received a drink. The cocktail was OVER priced for what I was served. I didn't stay long enough to enjoy the band. Turned into a VERY EXPENSIVE drink. $48 for 2 so so cocktails.

I haven't been to this place yet but I have been invited a couple of times. To be honest I would like to visit but I'm cautious because of my race. I love country music but I don't wanna be stuck out if you know what I mean.

Walked in and it was a very Lively crowd. Bartender was not very courteous rolled her eyes at me when I asked why there was a cover charge at such an establishment we were already ordering $100 worth of drinks just for the first round and they wanted $10 on top of that just to be in the place not really worth it to me.

Before you go know that the beginner lessons was only one dance at exactly 8pm. There was a birthday party and a bachelorette party all new to line dancing and these groups were the majority of the people on the floor. Despite being the majority and it being beginners night we were ignored when we asked for a second lesson. For $10 youd hope there’d be more than 3 minutes of dance lessons. There were some unfriendly regulars then some friendly regulars who told us when the easy songs were. The more people there are on the floor the easier the dance is and you can just jump in and watch people’s feet. We got hit on by some older cowboys. It was nice being asked to dance but some of them were a little creepy at times. Some were very nice and it was cool to be asked. Maybe learn some dances like electric slide and shivers before you go

This place could be better with a few changes. Here are my observations: 1. Water Dancing makes us all sweat and thirst. Instead of having the bartenders pour individual glasses of water, get big dispensers and individual cups for easy access. There were several times where I really wanted to get a drink of water but knew it would take a long time to get one, and didn’t want to miss out on the dancing. 2. Dance lessons There was barely any structure to the flow of dances throughout the night, even during the lesson. Do more of an introduction and welcome at the beginning of each lesson - it might make newcomers or out-of-towners feel more comfortable and aware of how things work. Additionally, each lesson was barely 20 minutes. Longer, more in-depth lessons could be offered and would actually help beginners learn. 3. Dance announcements In the same vein as above, the instructor was nice and could work a crowd, but it seemed totally inefficient to announce each song, rather than just put on a playlist and let the music play. While it might have just been one bad instructor, there was a lot more than could be clarified. Overall, the vibe here is stellar. The decor is perfect, and I like that there is pool and other things to look at and do other than just dance. The live music is also the cherry on top. But this place could be an even better experience with a few tweaks.

Overall I had a good experience at Cowboy Palace. The bartenders were great, service was fast, and the live band really made the night fun. The atmosphere inside was lively and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The only issue I had was at the entrance. One of the bouncers (the tall one) made a sexual joke while I was coming in, which honestly made me a little uncomfortable and wasn’t the best first impression. I asked for his name but refused. Aside from that moment, everything else about the night was enjoyable. I’d still come back, but I hope management reminds staff to keep interactions at the door professional, so guests feel welcome from the start. Would have given 5 stars if the staff at the door didn't make that comment.

I'll give this 3 stars for the vibe, and eager crowd. While I'm not a country fan or line dancing fan I love that there seems to be a regular crowd coming out to enjoy. Was surprised with such a crowd that often there was just 1 girl behind the bar, so drink service for a big group of drinkers was very underwhelming. And the food. I rarely write negative reviews but seriously, there has to be something more you can do when the best thing on your menu is the Tyson frozen chicken tenders: Owners, get yourself a chef, a real menu, some fresh food, and a couple more bar staff on a Friday night and you'll make a killing. Didn't bother taking photos of the food and I can see why not many other reviewers have posted any either cos it really is shit. Sorry. Could be so much better. Good luck

I live not far away. GF and I, enjoyed going on a walk and stopping by for a beer and a game of pool. Charged $10 cover each, hours before band started playing. No thanks. Won't be going here anymore. ***Response to Response from Owner*** It is on the website. You totally missed the point! Please re-read

Overpriced drinks, and they sneak the cover charge into your bill. A Shirley Temple and Angry Orchard (with cover This dive bar has survived through thick and thin and by pure luck...

It was ok. We went for a retirement party. It was nothing like the cowboys and cowgirls I see in Oklahoma where I come from. They tried to do the dances and dress the part but weren't successful. I give them a "C" for effort. Won't be going back. Music was good but no food. We had to buy food and bring it in. Who serves all the alcohol you want and no food for sale. Drinks were expensive too!

I have gone here on and off for many years. I remember the stalls to put your horses in and the Candy Cat next door. Seems like a major decline. I dont usually do reviews. I would like to talk to the owner and please explain the difference of the prices at 930pm. One bar a single Grey goose on the rocks short poor is $18 and at the smaller bar near the exit is $14. The lady at the smaller bar was smiling and happy. The other lady bartender needs some help and seems to be overwhelmed. Dont need the short poor or the attitude. When you look at the other reviews, apparently she is a problem and she is still working. I left a good tip (people have bad days), didnt help. People will forgive bad food. They will find another place to spend their money with bad service and daily fluctuating prices. Maybe they need to do an episode of Bar Rescue. Best of luck!!!

B

They will actually undercharge you due to the bartenders not paying attention and being constantly overwhelmed. 2 stars as it wasn't bad, but management is not keeping track on sales, which is causing a loss of revenue for owner(s). People think under charging is cool because they get free drinks. No, it is horrible for owner(s) and eventually passed down to the customers.

Typical California country bar, not a bad place if you're looking for line dancing But it doesn't look like they do two stepping out here. it is extremely crowded and the dance floor is too small to support the crowd that it seems to draw. If you're local, it's probably a great little spot, though, if you are visiting town, I recommend looking elsewhere for a better experience.

This is not a honky tonk....pop and rap to line dance to...no, a real honky tonk would be playing Hank, Willie, or Waylon. this place is just a gimmick. It's funny they will call this an opinion but I have been to REAL honky tonks' all over the U.S., granted look at the location but...don't call yourself the last really honky-tonk when your just a bar with boots hanging above the bar. This place is also WAY over priced 15 dollars for a WELL drink? Not even a double. Will NEVER recommend or take anyone here. You guys frankly need to do better.

I had one of the worst nights of my life here, the bouncer physically pushed me out of the bar after saying I used the wrong door. And before you ask, I was not drunk and do not drink. He yelled at me on the street and would not let me go back inside to get my stuff. Nobody was outside with me, I had no phone and I literally told him “I do not feel safe”. At one point I was crying and asking strangers on the street for help. We had entered through that door and I believed it to be the only one. Even if I had intentionally left through the wrong door, there is no reason for a man to yell at me in the middle of the street and not allow me to get my phone. Then a separate “regular” verbally threatened by friend with assault. I will never return and I hope to God no woman ever has to go here.

Honestly if I could leave zero stars I would. I just moved over here to Chatsworth and I’m big on going to dive bars hitting up the local bars and this was almost a dope experience but it turned horrible in a matter of 2 seconds. Just when I was about to leave this staff member got angry because people weren’t following the unofficial rules of billiards. For example talking to people in your party while someone is shooting. Or standing 3-5 feet from the pool table while someone is shooting (mainly the staff, everyone else is cool when you are watching the game but the staff members take it seriously so I recommend you stand 5 feet away from the table to not get into a fight with the security ) I was cool watching every game cheering everyone on but the security got his feelings hurt somehow. Idk but don’t criticize the security they get the most hurt out of everyone. It’s sad and very unprofessional. If you refuse to go to a liquor store to buy something to drink then go to this bar. If you want disrespectful people that have been working there for 15 plus years and think they are the king of the valley go to this bar. If you can’t read Sarcasm then ima be straight up. Don’t go to this bar. Not worth it.

Totally blew it and left my credit card at the bar. I tried reaching to get it back, but they insisted in was not there. A few days later, a whole bunch of fraud charges started popping up before I could close the account.

DON'T MISS THIS !!!!! I was just kicked out of this place I have frequented for years by Ashley the bartender in which she accused me for being Rude to her in which she lied about if she doesn't like you beware!!!! With her power your next!!!! I really don't care it turned into a huge local gossip hole anyways, I retrieved my license plates off the wall and good riddens. These are my words to Ashley I was NEVER RUDE TO YOU until now.....and you know it. You deserved to be called the "C" word =Can't Understand Normal Thinking REALLY? You have a big Ego..look into the mirror your lips definitely do not need any more Botox you look like Daffy Duck you messed up your breasts by making them the size of Texas the fake eyelashes are RIDICULOUS. and you might be able to scratch my eyes out with the Fake nails....Pretty much everything about you is FAKE. One more thing she will RIP YOU OFF!!!! KEEP COUNT OF WHAT YOU DRINK, AND IF YOU PAY WITH CASH WAIT FOR YOUR CHANGE, SHE IS GOOD AT NOT GIVING IT BACK AND OR SNATCHING IT UP OFF THE BAR IF YOU LEAVE IT THERE TO LONG!!!! Pretty Mindless Job.

Great place. However.... bald headed bouncer a d-bag. Swore at everyone during last call. He also made fun of my friend and I for no reason. I thought an employee was suppose to protect peace and stop fights. Not to instigate. Why would I go dancing knowing some one is working their deliberately trying to cause chaos. My review would be a 5 otherwise. I will change it when his behavior is corrected.

I’ve probably been to this place about 4 or 5 times (living out of state). The service tonight was a joke. One of the bartenders must have been on drugs. She couldn’t keep an order straight band only charged me for 2 drinks after our group had more than 8. It was almost embarassing. Every other time I’ve been here we’ve had a great time and been treated very well. I’m on the fence of ever coming back.

This is against the bartender with blonde hair. She is rude and never helped us. She helped other people and kept ignoring us. The other bartender was nice and helped us out. We even witnessed the blonde bartender yell at the brunette girl when she tried to give her the money for our order since we were in the blond girl section. Soon after that the blonde girl yelled at the brunette again without seeing the brunette fault at all. Blonde one got in the brunette way and then blame the girl. She need to learn manners on how to treat other people and customers. The brunette was very perfessional and just went about doing her job and treating customers with respect. If you come here go with the brunette, she will take care of your drinks. Blonde bartender only took care of her regular. If it wasn't for the other bartender I would never come back again.

We came here for the country line dancing lessons. The instructor was 20 minutes late and it felt completely catered to very experienced local dancers. Most songs just played and you were expected to pick it up as they went. Once every 20 minutes they would run through a dance ONE TIME real quick and then do it to a full song, no chance to actually learn anything. We had to really push them to slow down. Other members of the class were literally mocking us saying “they won’t get it”. One gal was really nice trying to help us, she should have been the paid instructor. The other newbies just gave up and sat down. We tried so hard to lean in and have fun and learn something but eventually we left to try to salvage our night elsewhere. I even overheard a local complaining to the manager about how bad things had gotten. The manager replied there was “nothing she could do”. Drinks were the level of a bad dive bar and there was no food. When we asked for a refund for the class or for some drinks to be comped the bartender (manager) was argumentative and rude. I tried so hard to be calm and kind and just give some feedback to help, I even tried to walk away multiple times and she just kept continuing to argue and tell me she couldn’t refund me anything because I “stepped on the dance floor”. I’ve worked in customer service and I would never ever let a group of paying customers leave upset when there were easy and affordable things I could do to make them feel heard. 0 out of 10 would not recommend this place. (The fact that they responded to this review ignoring the majority of what I said and telling us there are beginners classes we could come take just highlights the problem that they aren’t listening. THIS class wasnt listed as intermediate, in fact no level was listed so you could reasonably assume it would be pretty focused on TEACHING. It wasn’t, 2-3 songs would play for the intermediate dancers to dance without any instruction between them, clearly this is focused on experience dancers which is fine but if it’s going to be intermediate, just list as such. Also, why would you think we’d come back when your manager was incredibly rude to us and you’ve done nothing to improve our first impression?)

As a group of friends, we were really excited to try out 'The last real Honky Tonk!' and support a local business. We heard about TCPS and their line dancing 'lessons' from a local. We did have some expectations considering this bar charges $10 a head...for 'classes'. And considering we travel full time and this is one of our newest hobbies we thought 'Hell yeah, let's go have some drinks, have some food, and learn some line dances!' In the past year, we've had an amazing time in other states participating in things like this. Although we've never paid for line dancing lessons in a dive bar...But, hey...when in Rome. Unfortunately, our experience at this establishment was a bummer. We visited on a Thursday evening in November. Per their website and social media the teaching started at 6PM and they had food available. When we arrived the kitchen was closed and the 'instructor' arrived 20-30 minutes late. We did order two rounds of drinks while we were waiting but felt like we were more of a burden to the bartender/manager every time we asked for service instead of welcomed customers. When it comes to the dancing...the instructor plays the locals' favorite songs so they can dance most of the night and then squeezes in some 'newbie' songs...that they 'hope are easy enough for us newbies out there, and hopefully, 'they' can keep up'.... yes they said that over the microphone to which a local dancer on the floor responded, 'yeah right, they can't.' It felt very 'mean girl-ish' and we quickly realized maybe this wasn't a fun night to be vulnerable and try something new. The entire experience felt very cold, uncomfortable, and unwelcoming. Especially because we paid $10 a piece....for what? On top of expensive sub-par watered-down drinks. And no food. If I was a business owner I'd want to do better and not let hundreds of dollars walk out of my door...especially when it could have been prevented.

If I could give negative stars I would and I’ve never said that on a review before. I don’t write reviews very often but if this will save someone it was worth it. I went with two friends, one another woman and the other a male marine, we went to line dance and have a drink. Somehow we were assaulted and it was honestly hard to tell if it was the staff and/or patrons involved. This has never happened before and honestly it made me stop going out to bars. Not sure what happened but save yourself the trouble if you can. There are better places out there!

This bar makes money off the the song Toby Keith sang I love this bar , It's their logo on their t shirts and so far I haven't seen one night dedicated to Toby Keith since his passing . It's a joke of a honky tonk pop music for line dancing is laughable also the lady bartending was extremely arrogant, drinks were expensive definitely won't be back

The first time my partner and I went, we had the best time! It can be a cool local cowboy spot with cheap drinks and good music but the second time we went was sooo terrible!! Our bartender Ashley was extremely overwhelmed and even when we called her name, she straight-up ignored us. Was so weird. We won’t be back because of her service and attitude.

The elderly woman that bartends here on Sunday nights is incredibly rude and will pick and choose who she wants to charge for the band's cover charge blatantly. Will roll her eyes at you and isn't even courteous enough to smile. Maybe if I come back on a different night I'll change the review score.

Went once before, always leave a 15-20% tip wherever I go anywhere. Second time I go I'm waiting 15-20 minutes to even order at the bar. Watch people who came after me get drinks, and ask what the hold up is. Bartender says I don't leave a big enough. Really, even with the cover charge, you expect me to pay more. Bartender is extremely disrespectful. Don't go unless you like waiting.

It's really hard giving a negative review because if I had only danced it would be 4; but unfortunately I decided to drink. 0⭐ to the service; 2 bartenders for a Saturday crowd (that also happened to have 2 parties) just was not enough, especially when one of the bartenders was incompetent (couldn't close a tab) and the other was frankly just not a nice person. At first I thought she was just trying her hardest but after 30 mins sitting at the bar trying to close my tab while she closed 6 other people who came after me it became clear that she was hoping I'd give up and leave my card so she could charge more at the end of the night. I want to be clear that I was never rude to her: I was trying to be understanding of the situation she was in, but she decided from the moment I sat down that she didn't like me, and she heavily favored the men around me, proven by the fact that it took one kind gentleman asking her to give me my tab before she brought it. She also ignored & discriminated against one gentleman who did not "fit the scene". He had been waiting longer than me to just get served and (!! I could not hear the conversation !!) when it seemed like he was trying to get her attention to finally get served she immediately started yelling at him about how she had the rest of the bar, he said something back but seemed very calm about it so my assumption was simply that she had served people that came after him (which was true), and she got him kicked out. 4⭐ to the line dancing; if you're going to have a BEGINNER class mixed in with some open dancing, you NEED to have the open dancing be beginner-friendly. I spent $10 to dance 30/60mins and it's just unnecessary. I do plan to come back, I just won't be drinking and I'll try to make a point to have them do more appropriate songs during the class.

I have been going to Cowboy Palace off and on for about 6 years or so. It has finally gotten to the point that there are more negative aspects than positive and I really avoid going there. The regular customers are great, the decor is fun and there is often live music. The bartender is not customer service oriented and certainly favors men over women, often with an attitude. The prices for bottom shelf beer are just ridiculous, the same price I can get a large craft beer at several other bars around town. There are also issues where several friends have stated they were not allowed a glass of water because they did not buy alcohol. I'm sorry this is a dancehall (e.g., exercise facility) and there should ALWAYS be free water available for dancers. But my biggest issue is with the temperature. If you are going to be a "dancehall" it should be freezing cold when you walk in (62-64 F). When you are dancing it is no different than like working out at a gym and the climate should be maintained accordingly. I travel all over for work, especially the southern states and the dancehalls in TX, OK, etc have it right. Take a lesson from those experts. If they can get the temperature right when it is 95F and 95% humidity outside I think you could easily do proper cooling here in SoCal! I love dancing two-step and line dances and I usually do it several nights a week but Cowboy Palace is no longer a place I care to go.

I am genuinely one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, and I don’t typically leave bad reviews, but this experience was something else. I mean, as a nice guy, I have a lot of patience – seriously, ask anyone who knows me, they’ll tell you I’m a really nice guy – but waiting forever for a bartender to acknowledge us was pushing even my limits. Now, I get it, bars can be busy, but as a nice guy, I understand that things take time, so I waited. And waited. And waited. Honestly, it felt like the bartender was ignoring us on purpose, and let me remind you, I am a very nice guy! I go with the flow, I’m super understanding, so for me to even notice this was unusual. Then, after what felt like ages, we finally got our drinks, and I almost couldn’t believe it. $30 for one beer and one cocktail? Listen, I’m a nice guy, I don’t mind paying a little extra for good service and a nice atmosphere, but this place was nothing special. As a nice guy, I don’t expect five-star luxury, but for that price, I expected something to match the cost. But it was just a basic bar, with no vibe, no ambiance to justify those insane prices. So here’s the bottom line from me, a really, really nice guy: if you’re looking to overpay for drinks and wait an eternity for service, then this is the place for you. But if you’re like me—a nice guy who just wants a decent drink at a decent price with decent service—maybe try somewhere else.

I came to this place on 9/13/2025 I paid with $100 for one Corona, and the bartender (female, blonde) gave me $82 in change — meaning I was charged $18 for a single beer. Whether this was poor math or intentional, it is wrong and dishonest. The Bible says: “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.” (Proverbs 12:22). Even if she needed the money and that is why she short-changed me, that is still stealing. I’d like to hope it was just a mistake, but if not, then it is theft — and God will be the one to judge and punish. It is also my fault for thinking I could trust the bartender to give the correct change and not counting it myself. That won’t happen again. To others: please count your change carefully so you are not taken advantage of. Management allowing this kind of behavior — whether from lack of training or turning a blind eye — makes the entire establishment untrustworthy.
