Great service. Our baby waitress was very attentive and quick to refill drinks. Food came to the table in a good amount of time. The lobster ravioli is very good and the 22oz steak was delicious. We also got the cheese curds as an appetizer. Very good.
We came to Five Spur for the first time tonight and it was PHENOMENAL. The staff were all very welcoming from the time we walked in the door to the time we left. The mixed drinks were great, the food was cooked exactly how we requested the first time, and it was very reasonably priced. Also (just to add), the cheese curds were so, SO good. We’ll definitely be back!
Great service, large portions, and a tasty menu! Our family made a reservation for after church. We arrived a few minutes early & the host promptly greeted us and sat us at our table. To start, we ordered the cheese curds (not pictured) which were served with a homemade marinara sauce — we opted to add a ranch for dipping as well. Our server was very attentive and kept our glasses full as we ate our salads and while we waited for our main course. Our table all ordered different items and we were all impressed by the flavor and portion sizes. Before bringing the check, our server, Melissa, offered us dessert. They had a variety of cheesecakes that were sold by the slice that would be great to take to-go to enjoy later in the evening. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and it was definitely worth the 30 minute drive. We will be back very soon! Great steakhouse in the heart of Cherryville. We met the owner while we were there, as well. The food and service was top-notch. We had prime rib, shrimp, crab cakes, cheese curds, salad, and more with our party of seven. It was all great. The house Old Fashioneds rival the ones I make at home. So happy to see a place like this in Cherryville.
Beautifully restored building, extremely friendly and attentive staff. We both had the ribeye and it was PHENOMENAL, cooked to order and seasoned beautifully! 5 Spur Steakhouse is a welcomed and much needed fine dining experience in Cherryville at a reasonable price for the quality. Would recommend 10 out of 10, already looking forward to our next visit!
Wow!! My wife and I had a wonderful date night. Food was delicious and service was top notch. We're very impressed with the vibe of the place. Awesome drinks, Old Fashioned was perfect with my steak. My wife enjoyed The Pearl Snap. We love the fact that you had to make reservations. Showed up on time and was seated right away when we arrived. Perfect night. Thanks again and we'll see you again soon.
GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY! It’s worth it! I surprised my husband for his birthday and took him somewhere new and I’m so glad we did! I had met the owners wife a couple months ago and she told me about this place! At first glance, this restaurant is gorgeous! From the hardwood floors, to the saddles, to the rustic Christmas tree! The welcoming staff was very friendly and seated us within 7 minutes of our reservation time! We ordered the calamari as our appetizer and it was great! It wasn’t the tiny little calamari you get at Olive Garden, it was delicious. My husband ordered the filet with broccolini and cheesy potato au gratin; the steak was very well seasoned and super tender; the sides were fantastic as well! I ordered crab cakes with mashed potatoes and gravy and asparagus. Now the shocker for me was the remoulade!!!! I have NEVER found a remoulade that I actually enjoyed but this was out of this world good and I actually used it on my crab cakes! Our waitress was Allie and she was the sweetest! She was very attentive and constantly made sure we were doing well. She also had a helper since it was his first day, Brandon, but you could tell he was not new to the industry! He was very attentive and checked on us regularly as well! The conversation with them both made me feel right at home! This restaurant is the true meaning of casual dining! I did NOT feel rushed! Our meal came out about 30 minutes after our appetizer and that was fantastic! I hate when my meal comes out while I’m still eating my appetizer! And then Allie and Brandon offered us dessert which is made locally at a bakery and it was delicious as well! Recommend 10/10
Incredible 5 star experience at Five Spur Steakhouse for our first visit. 2 of us had the 22 oz bone-in ribeye, one had the filet and one had the pork chop. All cooked to perfection and great portions. Pricing is very fair. The owners spoke to all tables. Our waitress Madison did a fantastic job. The restored 1930 building is beautiful. Finished with some glasses of spectacular "Elmer T. Lee" Single Barrel Bourbon from the bar.
We drove an hour to get here and wasn’t disappointed ! walked right in and was seated (per our reservation) staff were great steaks were delicious ! Highly recommend the asparagus ! The bread was yummy also ! It was a wonderful place to Celebrate our Valentine’s Day ❤️ we end up loving what ever Johnny Ray dose ! We love his other restaurants as well ! Love taking our business to small town Downtowns ! Keep up the good work Johnny Ray We will see you at the smokehouse next. 😋
I usually start a review off with how nice the restaurant looked but I have to start with the food! My husband ordered Steve's chi Ken and said it was the best he has EVER had. I ordered prime rib and it was out of this world good. Service was great and the restaurant looked amazing.
Finally got to try this restaurant on a Wednesday evening . My coworker and I had a reservation , but we didn’t need it . ( seems like you do need reservations Friday and Saturday .) The inside looks great , they did a great job with the building . We both had sirloins, which were cooked perfect and delicious . Mac and cheese and potatoes were amazing . They have a large variety of cheesecakes - we both took some to go (they were amazing by the way ). Also was impressed by how affordable it was . For a high quality meal the price really couldn’t be beat . We will definitely be back!
Great steak dinner in downtown Cherryville!! Wonderful experience all around. The NY Strip and Ribeye were both perfectly prepared. Finished with a yummy compound butter. Mushroom risotto was especially good. We'll be back!
Absolutely amazing place to eat , my wife and I went to eat, the food and service were great!! We had the cheese curds and the manager offered us a sample of caramel to go with the cheese curds and that was amazing. My wives big John burger was cooked to perfection and and I had the ribeye and it was awesome. Our waitress was amazing !! Will definitely be back and we highly recommend!!
We went here for a date night and had a great experience! Since the restaurant is new, we expected a few small hiccups, but honestly, the only one was that our waitress couldn’t answer a couple of questions about what was on draft. No big deal at all, she seemed new and was clearly learning the ropes. She was extremely friendly. The food was fantastic, don’t miss the 22oz bone-in ribeye! The bartender, Logan, was excellent, and the manager even stopped by our table to check in, which was a nice touch. Overall, it’s a great addition to the area, and we’ll definitely be back!
We reserved a table for a party of 20 tonight at 5 o'clock..Cheese Curds, Appetizers were a favorite. Steaks came out correct and have a great flavor. Wish i would have got our servers name..She was fantastic. Did a really great job of keeping us all Happy. We will certainly be back.
We were able to visit tonight since they opened on a Tuesday. We have schedules that don’t allow us much family time on the weekends. We had great food and great service. All four of us had a ribeye and everyone was impressed. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive.
This was mine and my husband's first time it was delicious! I love my steak charred up good that gives it that good flavor. We definitely will be back. We both had the ribeye and we will recommend to others. I believe this will be a new favorite for us and it's so close to home.
I was highly impressed with the dining experience at the restaurant. Most of the party at my table had the fillet. It was prepared perfectly. Things that I noted: -The building was beautiful. I especially loved the ceilings, light fixtures, and the charm of years gone by, -While music was soft, it didn’t interfere with our table conversations. -The service was outstanding. The wait staff stopped by our table throughout the meal. -My steak was the best that I have ever eaten. I asked for a “medium” prepared fillet and that is exactly what I was served. -Try the chocolate/strawberry cheesecake. It was delicious!
My husband and I went to 5 spur, for our date night. 5 Spur did not disappoint. The atmosphere is top notch. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Our hostess and waitress were amazing. The manager was top notch as well. He stopped by each table to make sure each guest experience was enjoyable. We will definitely return to 5 Spur.
Got strait in an sat at the bar, no reservation needed for bar. Had a steak, baked potato and side salad food was absolutely fantastic service was awsome, kinda reminds you of old-school steak house. Me and the wife for just a little over $40 ! Last time and I mean that literally it was the last time I'll ever eat at out"house" steak it was over $80 and nasty will definitely be back to 5 spur, again!!
Spot on, my steak was cooked perfectly and very tender, asparagus with hollandaise sauce excellent, mushroom rossito fantastic, my husband got the bone in porkchop, perfection. Our server Kensie was awesome, our glasses were never empty, she was always checking on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal. We will be going back. If you have not been yet you are missing out on a great experience.
One of the best steaks I have had dining out. I am willing to pay for quality and you get what you pay for. Great steak, great service. There are not many places I can go out to eat because the quality of restaurants now are horrible serving low quality food and small portions. 5 spur is outstanding serving quality steaks and large portions. We will be back.
Went and tried the new steak house in Cherryville for the first time. Was excited to see the finished product. Restaurant was very nice. We ordered the ribeyes. First it was the best steak we have ever had. If you are looking for a great place to eat with the best food, great service try them out.
Dinner on Feb 12 2026, was great! Steaks cooked to perfection, sides were salads and baked potato and steak fries all were perfect. We must always get cheese curds at any of Johnny Ray's restaurants, they are the best. Waitress was also bartender and she did not miss a beat, drinks stayed full and she checked on us but not too much. I would definitely recommend and we will most definitely be back. Thank you
Perfect dinner. We ordered the Cobb salad followed by 2 bone in ribeyes which were cooked to perfection. As sides we got the broccolini, potatoes au gratin, asparagus and paid extra for a crab cake. I ordered an old fashioned which was perfect and then had a glass of Cabernet with my steak. Service and food were both excellent. I think the lights could be a bit dimmer but otherwise I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Good job everyone!
Okay after my first visit I left a not so good review below. I decided to go back and try again. This time I and two of my friends went in for dinner. We made a reservation and were seated immediately when entering. We each ordered a different menu item. The food was cooked perfectly and came out in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend the salmon. Cooked on a cedar plank with a rich compound butter. I had the mushroom risotto and asparagus. Each was cooked with rich flavor. Other items that were ordered, steak, burger and spinach dip all cooked perfectly and very well prepared. Let me start by saying my meal was very good. I ordered medium rare steak with asparagus and cheesey potatoes. All cooked as ordered and great taste. My sisters meal not so. She ordered steak medium well, baked potato and salad. The salad was good. The bowl should be bigger for easier access. The baked potato was Luke warm and the steak rare. Sent back and the replacement steak was shoe leather almost burnt. So I would recommend if ordering steak order rare or medium rare. They seem to be unable to cook correctly past that temperature.
What a jewel. I've been very disappointed about dining establishments in this whole region but Im so glad I gave this spot a try. Atmosphere is very nice. The place is nice and open airspace. Not a lot of screens ,very elegant. The service was spot on.Our server was right on top of it and not too overbearing. The flavor blasts of the dish's were amazing. My only hope is that it stays consistent! I'll let you know because I will be a regular. My only gripe was my soup could have been a little warmer, but the potato soup was delicious. Salad was so big. Portions were big in general. I have struggled to find a good chicken parmesan. This is the south, and that might be one of the best chicken parms I've ever had and I've lived in major cities up north. My wife went with the grilled chicken with the honey glaze. The chicken had that nice charred taste that you just don't find anymore. We got there early on purpose, it looks like it gets busy, so I would be patient and get a reservation!
For our date night, my husband and I chose to try this restaurant for the first time. The waitress was friendly, and we truly enjoyed our meals. He had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese, and I ordered the salmon with mushroom risotto and broccolini—everything was flavorful and delicious. We also shared two desserts, the New York–style cheesecake and the Pecan CheeseCake, and both were outstanding. We left feeling completely satisfied with our experience.
9 of us had dinner this afternoon to celebrate my daughters birthday. My prime rib, loaded potato & asparagus were perfect in every way. We had 2 plates of cheese curds & 2 plates of calamari as appetizers. I don't normally like cheese curds, these were awesome, the calamari was great. Service was excellent. We had a wide variety of steaks, a burger, all great. Chicken parmesan (overdone), sides & salad really good. The atmosphere is very nice. I would give them a 95 out of 100 & for a new restaurant that's pretty good. Best steakhouse in 50 mile radius.
The food was amazing our server Makenzie was amazing. She was truly genuine. Always smiling and checking in with our table. You did right when you hired her. 100%. Professional. Great service. We made reservations. The food was not rushed like most places. After our salads came we had a few minutes before the meal came to just talk. It was a sisters night out. Then they bring a dessert tray for you to check out. Definitely get some to go. You will be to full to eat it there. Lol
Very cute restaurant. I love how they have transformed this old western auto hardware store into a steakhouse. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. My husband had the burger, and he was pleased with it. I got the NY Strip and my sister got the ribeye. The ribeye was the better of the two. My mom got the country fried steak and it was the best!!! We also had the cheese curd for the appetizer and I highly recommend. We will be repeat customers for sure. I encourage you to check it out if you are in the area.
Party of four with reservations at 5:30. Seated and waited on promptly. Waitress was Kinsey? Very good waitress and wonderful service. One of the best steaks I’ve had. We were very happy with our decision to try them. Prices on par with comparable restaurants.
Was highly recommended by a friend, so we had to give it a go. We were advised to make reservations, it was for 2 on a Sunday @2pm. We were seated immediately upon arrival for our reservations. It was not crowded and very quiet. Our server Sydney [hoping I spelled it correctly] was prompt taking our drink & appetizer order. She was incredible and made our overall experience even better! We ordered the calamari, delicious and crispy with tentacles 👏👏👏 My husband and I ordered the same thing with the exception of me ordering a small wedge salad, enough for 2 people. I had the NY strip with steak fries and broccolini, my husbandhad baked potatoand a house salad. Incredible flavor on all counts. Also had coffee with the meal [they need expresso😋]. For dessert I had the raspberry/lemon cheese cake, amazing. We were pleasantly surprised at the overall experience. Even more surprising was the location in the downtown area of Cherryville. We did have to send our steaks back, they were not done enough. That's why the difference in the photo. I changed from the mushroom risotto to steak fries. And for clarification, I asked if bread was included with our meal, I was told that it was not. It should be in my opinion.
We started with an appetizer of cheese curds. They were really, really good! I don't know what it was, but the flavor was fantastic! 😃 My ribeye steak was thin cut (disappointing) and was served with a huge chunk of fat on the end 😔. The flavor of the steak was pretty good, but it was not really cooked to a medium since there was no extra meat in the center to stay pink. My sauteed asparagus was still pretty crunchy (undercooked in my opinion). The potatoes au grautin were pretty good though. My wife tried the NY strip. It was average thickness and was cooked to a perfect medium. She enjoyed it. Her mashed potatoes, not so much. I think the mashed potatoes should be called whipped potatoes; they were so whipped that they almost seemed like instant potatoes. She was not impressed with the macaroni and cheese and said it was almost tasteless. My son had the kid's ribeye with fries and mac/cheese. He didn't care much for the thin-cut ribeye or the macaroni and cheese. The atmosphere was really nice. It was classy without being uppity and had a warm, enjoyable feel to it, like a place you would want to hang out with your friends (the bar are seemed pretty nice). I was really impressed when I noticed that they change the tablecloth on every table before seating the next group of customers. The silverware was nicer than I'm used to seeing and you could tell it was new. Our server was friendly and took great care of us. She got a good tip 👍 All in all, this place should earn a rating of 5 stars. I just hate that some of the food was lackluster, costing it 1 star. Would I give it one more shot? Yes. But if the food wasn't any better, I would move on.
First up the GPS had us park in the back. Very confused on where to enter so we walked around. After inside there is a host stand in the back but no one was attending it. Given the fact you get basically an apology letter up front asking you to be patient we can't really complain about the long wait for food. Although even with the letter I think an hourish wait till the fried cheese curds came out was a little excessive. (Tasted amazing and was a generous portion) The waitress was definitely on top of it as much as she could be. Kept us up to date with the order and our glasses full. She did a phenomenal job and kept it together. The steak!!!! Although undercooked from what I ordered it was seasoned so well and tasted great! The other 4 steaks at the table also came out med rare when ordered med well. After sending back for a second go it came out again not up to par. Cheesy potato au gratin had a hard crunchy cheese topping that you basically had to cut into but the potatoes underneath were good. Given there is still kinks to be worked out being a new restaurant I don't fault it too bad. I'm sure given time & training everything will be excellent!!!
The steaks was absolutely amazing. Every steak was cooked to exact temperature. Made a reservation for 5 people they tried to cram us into a 4 top table and staff was a little rude said my reservation was for 3 until I showed them the confirmation. Im a big guy a 4 top for 5 people was ridiculous. I will go back the steaks was amazing, the sides could use some work. My risotto was not the best the broccoli you got a stem of broccoli. Mac an cheese was phenomenal. But all in all it was good. We just had a bad start to our visit there but I will go back to try something new.
Still green and lots to learn. Steak was undercooked, but still good. Asparagus was cold. The loaded baked potato is not so loaded No ketchup offered for fries or steak sauce for steaks. Could not find waitress before eating them all. Side salad is in the smallest bowl that you cannot get the salad out Ranch dressing Is really thin But tasteful. No dessert offered or to go drinks. We will definitely go back and give it another shot. Everyone was super friendly. For this to be a five star restaurant, it would need a tremendous amount of help.
We had heard great things about this place so we gave it a try. The place wasn't busy at all plenty of tables open we did have reservations thankfully because we had been talking about this place for weeks..We were hoping for that popping rich tasting steaks and fillet but wasn't as we had hoped for... we all ordered med steaks and everything came out well done.. they trashed the steaks and started over, 2nd go around was better but was missing the butter toppings, the sides were bland and looked rushed. Fries were great, mac and cheese was a possible reheat from the day before the kids cheese burgers were terrible no time spent preparing them for a great taste waste of $12 bucks. The salads were missing most of the toppings so only cheese and onions and ranch... food looks nothing like the pictures on there website we drove about 1-1/2 hr to give this place a try and needless to say we were a little disappointed 😒 for the money it cost to eat here it wasn't worth it. Close to $240 I was really hoping to leave a 5 star review and tell everyone we know about how great it was but not so much. The waitress was great kept our drinks full and the place is super nice!! The cook did come out and apologize for over cooking the steaks, that was nice of him to do that. They didn't offer to discount any of our meals or even give us a free dessert nothing....could have gave us our Tea's for free nothing Its just unfortunate....
Excited to try the steaks in our hometown. Husband ordered the sirloin, over seasoned, over cooked. We had to send it back. I ordered the prime rib which was under seasoned. Shrimp cocktail was good, salads okay. Maybe we’ll go back to try something different.
The ribeye steak was cold but good. The grilled chicken was so overdone that it was hard. The cheese curds are very good especially if they will give you the ranch dressing that comes with it. The potatoes au gratin were good but could use more shaved onion in it. I did not see any kind of dessert menu. Nor was any offered. We ordered coffee as soon as we sat down but it took about 40 minutes to get it. It took an hour to order of food and have it put on the table. For the money and the drive there, I just couldn't justify it. Very nice location inside and out and the drive was not bad. It was just all okay. They were out of sauteed green beans so I was disappointed. It just largely resembled a dinner at Texas Roadhouse or outback. I'm sure some of the other dishes were good but it was just the two of us. I couldn't eat the chicken so I took it home and let the dogs have it.
The ambience is fantastic in this place, the bar drinks are excellent the food, not so much. The steaks are cheep cuts and whoever is cooking them doesn’t know the difference between rare medium and medium well for sure. The sides were cold the steaks were choice, definitely not prime meats and it just wasn’t good. New York strip was almost like a ribeye with all the fat and the ribeye was almost all fat. The service was ok, I think the girl we had was just overwhelmed at the time. It’s a better bar if you want drinks and not eat the food than it is as a restaurant. Definitely need better meats if they expect to get those prices.
This is our first time here and we came in at 4:30 and they were out of several side items and bread. Sirloin steak was super thin and overcooked. Had to send it back. My husband ordered grilled shrimp which was supposed to come with pasta but they told us that was extra. Service was good though...only thing good about place.
Made a reservation, walked in and got seated quickly. They were busy but we sat for around 35 minutes before we got our drink order. Server was a sweetheart. We ordered (medium rare), food came out at an expected time, but our steaks were over cooked by quite a bit (well done). Sent them back, they came out undercooked (rare). Sent back again and one came back good, the other didn’t. Sent that one back again and got a new piece that game out visually perfect. But, it was very char-tasting. Unfortunate visit. Maybe next time will be better. Servers and staff were pleasant.
Save your money and time. 1hr wait =1.5hr Out of stock on multiple different items on the main menu. Crab cakes tasted like mush and were probably from the freezer section. Prime rib was lack luster at best. I have no problem with paying good money or waiting but it needs to be worth it in the end. This place is not…
I really don’t like leaving bad reviews, but I truly don’t recommend. We had a reservation for 1:30, arrived at 1:28, got sat immediately. Our server did not come to our table for almost 20 minutes, which sucked because I was so thirsty. Once she finally was able to greet us and get our drink order we were hopeful, ordered our food & about 10-15 mins later we got our food. Our steaks were over cooked and almost well done, we wanted medium rare.. sent them back and they came back rare, like purple, sent them back again & then mine was still rare, she had me cut it twice so I asked for a new piece all together because then it would cook uneven from being cut in 4 places.. the last steak came back almost perfect temp, still a little over cooked, but the outside was so burnt and charred it left a horrible ash taste in your mouth and throat… even my husband couldn’t eat it and you know if a man doesn’t eat a steak it’s bad… thankfully they took it off the bill. Our salad was mid, and the mashed potatoes were decent, if we try again we won’t be getting the steak… which is the whole point in that place I feel like??
This will be my first review for this new place. Will return in a month to see if any better and worked Out any kinks. Service with the bartender was very good and very attentive. That’s a plus. I had the ribeye with mushroom risotto and green beans. Steak was very thin but cooked correctly but severely over seasoned and salty. Green beans were good if you like jar-lic instead of fresh garlic and the mushroom risotto I had to send back and get baked potatoes it was bland and had no flavor other than chicken broth. Tasted like chicken noodle soup from a can. No salt no flavor no seasoning. It was aweful and I love risotto. Had the red velvet cake for desert. Which is made By a local bakery but was served in a plastic togo container not on a plate and was very dense and wet. Overall not a great meal for the price. They have some work to do as it is brand new
My wife and I were so excited to try Five Spur from the moment we saw plans for the restaurant along Cherryville’s beautiful Main Street. Unfortunately, Five Spur let us down big time when we tried to eat there for our 11th wedding anniversary. On a Friday, Feb. 6, I made an online reservation for 4:45 PM that next day, Saturday, Feb. 7. We arrived at 4:45 PM that Saturday, told the hostess our name, and she confirmed our reservation. She said she had one other couple to seat and then would seat us. We proceeded to watch a half-dozen couples and groups get seated without the hostess giving us another look. After the first couple was seated, we moved to the waiting seat right in front of the hostess stand, right across from the front door, believing what we’d been told, that we’d be next. At 5:15 PM, we were still sitting there waiting, and my wife asked what was going on. My wife was told we were moved off the waiting list without being seated. A group of three to four employees proceeded to stand around the hostess stand looking confused. No one immediately tried to get us seated or offered us any explanation or apology. My wife and I agreed it clearly felt like other guests were priorities and we were not, and we agreed we wanted to spend our money elsewhere. We went to another restaurant in town, which was busier than Five Spur at the time, and we were seated immediately, promptly provided drinks and proceeded to have a great meal. That restaurant has repeatedly offered us an exceptional dining experience. My wife messaged Five Spur on Facebook that same Saturday night in an attempt to share our experience and offer a chance for the restaurant to respond. We were simply told to come back and that our poor experience wouldn’t happen again. No discounts, priority reservation, or any other courtesy or kindness was offered. Five Spur, it felt like, just shrugged us off. We’ve never had such a poor, disrespectful experience at a restaurant anywhere, and we’ve eaten at countless local restaurants across the country. We love eating local and supporting hard-working local people. It feels like the ownership of Five Spur and its sister restaurants, Johnny Ray’s Smokehouse in Fallston and The Hoot Nannie in Forest City, have a high enough opinion of themselves as they continue to expand that a pair of customers like us just don’t matter to them, no matter what lip-service line they may respond with on this review. And because of how small they made us feel, we won’t be back to Five Spur, Johnny Ray’s or The Hoot Nannie.
We visited this place Saturday 01/17/26 and the service and food were terrible. We waited thirty plus minutes WITH A RESERVATION. Once we were seated we waited AN HOUR for spinach dip which was awful. Dip was disgusting and the pitas were soggy. Our drinks were constantly empty and had to flag someone down to get more. We ordered a round of mixed drinks just to be told 20 minutes later they were out of the ingredients. Once our waitress finally came to take our order, we were told once again how they were out of majority of the items on the menu. We honestly should have just left at this point. Our food arrived and of course chicken was burnt but somehow not even warm. The cheesy potatoes were cold and nasty. The ONLY thing decent was the steak. We will not return waste of time and money for terrible food and service.
My family and I wanted so much to love this place. We were so excited to finally have the opportunity to try it. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in almost every way. The atmosphere was pleasant but it felt more like a bar than a nice steakhouse. We placed our order (Me: BoneIn Ribeye, requested to be cooked Medium $38.... Wife: 8oz Filet, requested to be cooked Medium $39... Son: 12oz Prime Rib, requested to be cooked Medium Rare $30ish). We waited forever after we ordered. 20 mins after ordering we still hadn't received our salads. My son sat for 15 mins waiting on a refill. Finally our salads came out, and a minute and a half later the steaks came out, giving us no time to enjoy the salads (which were served in tiny bowls for some reason). The steaks were all VERY underwhelming. My BoneIn Ribeye was cooked correctly to Medium and the flavor was OK, but very salty and it had gristle in about every 3rd bite. Also, I asked for a side of ranch and it never came out. I also never received a refill. My wife's Filet (ordered medium) was way overcooked and was well done to say the least. It had no flavor so she asked for some butter, which she never received. She never received a refill either. My son's Prime Rib was cooked correctly (Medium rare). However, he said it was the worst steak that he has ever had. In short, the food was atrocious and the service was not much better. No manager was anywhere to be found, and while we waited for sides and drinks that never made their way to our table, several members of the wait staff congregated at the bar talking and joking around, completely ignoring their customers. In short, 5 Spur Steakhouse is a very poorly ran restaurant that will not last very long at this rate. We talked on the way home that we felt like we just threw away $130 for terrible food and bad service.
Had been here once before right when they were open and while the ribeye I ordered medium rare was cooked medium, I cut some slack because I knew kinks were being worked out. However, last night the service and food were less than mediocre. Took 20 minutes to get bar drinks because bartenders were ignoring tickets from the dining room and taking patrons orders at the bar. When my first drink arrived it had something that looked like Coleslaw inside of it. Took another 15 minutes to get my next one. My side salad was never rang in when my wife and our cousin received theirs. My side salad was brought out and the entrees immediately followed so no time to actually eat the salad. Our cousin’s 12oz. Ribeye she ordered medium was medium rare and an insultingly thin piece of meat with 50% fat. Asked them to refire and she couldn’t hardly cut it because it was so tough. GM had another one remade and the steak was STILL rare. No solution was offered other than “sorry”. Really disappointed this happened. We were looking forward to not having to leave Cherryville to find a good steak, but looks like that’s going to happen.
