We were not sure if we should stop to eat so we were gonna order for take out but the lady Carrie that worked behind the bar was very welcoming and she was just all around great to be around.

What a find - this place has been a landmark in chester - since new owners took it over in 2016 this place is the new old hot spot for hospitality and food designed to please. Well worth the try - can't wait to return.

I had the prime rib dinner tonight. The food was delicious and our waitress Keri was amazing. We had a wonderful dinner!

Good place to visit and good food and I got my lil nephew that works there andy .all around guy and stand up too so I know the people are great.

My buddy and I shared teriaki shrimp tacos and a French dip. Both fresh and yummy as were garlic fries. Fries were prob frozen but good quality. Tacos packed w cabbage, beansprouts, etc. The rest of menu tempted us to return. The service was Excellent. Outdoor Atmosphere too. Lots of tables in sun or shade. Horseshoe pit and kids' play equipment. This is place to go for foodies or families. I'm no longer drinking but Ranch House has always been known for bar as restaurant has evolved.

Heard great things about this place & they didn't disappoint. Great patio with three horseshoe pits, lots of shade, a nice water feature & my Maltese Gracie Lu was welcome. Food good too! Service is the old fashion friendly & a nice change from the typical.

This place is so good. There aren't many options in town but my boyfriend and I love this place after a long day in Lassen Park. The BBQ burger is to die for!! I definitely had to loosen my belt strap after that one haha. But it was well worth it. The servers were very nice and there are a couple fun relics to look at. Check it out

The service is impeccable! Very nice eating area in the back. Nicely prepared meals. Just call ahead to make sure they are not out of rbs or their smoked chicken. Just a really good atmosphere with super nice people working there to earn your business.

Rolled in after driving CA-36 from Fortuna on our way to North Eagle Lake. Great food-check. (Tri Tip Dip and Smoked pork sandwich with some cold IPAs and iced water we didn't have to ask for-MUCH appreciated). Service fast, friendly, and even filled my water bottle before we left ❤️. Placed them on our Google "will eat here again" list!

Reasonable pricing and friendly staff, but it can sometimes take a while to get a drink at night. You're guaranteed to have a fun time in this bar though lol it is frequented by a lot of interesting people. I recommend!

I've driven by lots but never stopped in. When I finally did go for a meal and beverage I was impressed from the start. Good burger for me, good blt for partner and the best damn gin and tonic I've had in years. Great staff too!

Local Restaurant and Bar with nice indoor and outdoor dinning. The Ranch House Burger is Awesome. Comes in 1/2 and 1/4 pound versions. Staff was excellent and friendly. I suggest getting there early to beat the crowds.

Excellent meal, great atmosphere! I had chicken quesadilla and hubby had buffalo chicken wings. Got in just before noon on Sunday before it got very fun! Would definitely go back.

I enjoyed eating here with my boyfriend on our trip to Lassen. We stayed near Chester and was reccomended this place. The parking situation was a bit difficult because it seems to be packed without a large parking lot. However the food was great. The fish and chips had a beer tasting batter and the pulled pork sandwich was devine. Thought the curly fries were okay, would just stick with the normal ones or get garlic fries. I enjoyed the blonde beer from the local brewery in Susanville too. Cozy pub atmosphere.

We stopped here with another couple while visiting Lassen NP. Food was excellent and the staff was so friendly! We liked so much we came again the next night before we moved on. Really great people and food.

Had dinner here and it was wonderful. From the food to the staff, everything was great. Too bad we don't live closer or we'd eat here all the time. Food is plentiful and the prices are great. The staff is very personable and goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great experience too. I definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area or passing the area.

Our favorite family spot to eat in town! The mac and cheese bites, sidewinders, tri tip grilled cheese sandwich (try adding bacon!), chokersetter sandwich and SO many more are hard to resist. They have also recently remodeled, expanding the space for families to enjoy a great meal and a fun time. Lots of room out back, horseshoe pits, and shady gazebos for a longer linger.

TVs are viewable but not intrusive to the experience.

Party of 12. We called roughly hour before arriving, staff were welcoming of our large group, and gave us a heads up that there was only one cook. We never would have noticed though. Wait was not long at all, food was all hot and delicious. Waitress was on top of it, and we never waited long on any request. The ranch house and their staff did amazing. Friendly smiles, hot food, great service. We sat in the yard out back, it was very cute, loved the natural landscaping with the lavender. Just a great atmosphere. Wish I would have grabbed a photo of the outdoor patio. Great ending to our day of hiking and playing at Lassen Park. Will definitely be back, thank you all!!

They are in the middle of making a lot of changes, so the menu is an little limited right now. However, the food is good, the drinks are cheap, and the Wednesday night trivia (winners get free drinks) is a lot of fun.

Service was excellent ~ the food was delicious. The drinks were good and actually contained alcohol, instead of being soda or fruit heavy.

They're a fun, small pub with good food. There were a lot of us in town and they handled the crowd well. Only negative for me was good clam chowder, but extremely salty. Fish and chips were great.

The ranch house had great food. Service was a little slow. Our waitress Kerri was a true delight. People next to us, with a different waitress, waited 2 hours for food, and finally left without any dinner.

They had cider on the menu which is always a plus for me. Bartenders were available and courteous. I’d like to see this place expand the back patio even more, especially for summer crowds.

Food was good, the pulled pork sandwich had a very generous amount of pork. And, was tasty. But, the three star rating is because the place is not very clean. My beer glass was dirty. One of the waitresses was coughing. Bathroom was smelly. You can probably find a better place in town.

Friendly and helpful staff, but food was... unpleasant. They did apologize and informed us that they were running out of supplies due to covid-19.

Food was okay, price was on the upper end for the area. We reserved a group of 6 and they charged an automatic 18% tip on to the bill. Won't return on next vacation. 😐

Chicken was burnt to charcoal on one side showed the waitress who didn't seem to care. Wait staff remained gathered at the bar discussing which dating app to use to get a man. My friend had the scampi the only thing good about it was the amount of shrimp on the plate. We won't go back.

Verrry slow service. There was only one waitress, who was nice, however, from other reviews it seems common that they are short staffed. Ordered the Reuben sandwich, definitely have had better. Remember this is a pub so there will be drinkers and tonight it was full of loud drunks.

No Waters, no interest in our well being, even after the waitress came back to inquire about their meal. The group of 4 at the bar also have their order, and we are now 35 minutes without even a look our way. Being a Native person, with long hair and my (2) brown Co-workers sitting with me, the reason we were being ignored became obvious. We peacefully got up, dropped the menus off without a word even when making eye contact, sealed the reason we were ignored. We went across the street to Mi Casita and we're welcomed immediately. Just don't roll the dice with The Ranch House. If you are stopping in Chester, are Native, or are obviously ethnic, you will be ignored. Eat anywhere else, or just push to Susanville. Let this place just wallow in their toxicity. Everything on the menu is frozen and fried, so you aren't missing much.

If you like children running around, blocking the walkway playing with Legos, after dark, go ahead. If you DON'T THINK CHILDREN SHOULD BE AT A BAR, I don't recommend this place. And the owner is unsimpathic to any requests otherwise.

We ordered chicken wings as appetizer, came after food was delivered, I ordered fish and chips. Was disgusting. Over cooked, tasteless fish, fries were overcooked and had no substance. My brother had French dip and was fine. My other brother ordered patty melt and said it was fine. I personally will not enter this establishment again. Wait time for food was very long.
