If you’re looking for a dining room so stunning it’ll make you want to go home and immediately fire your interior decorator, Adalina is the place. We dropped in for Restaurant Week after a stellar experience at their sister spot, Adalina Prime, and the aesthetic alone almost distracted us from the menu. Almost. Do yourself a favor and add the bread service. It’s a commitment, and it’s undeniably filling, but it’s worth the carb-induced coma. We kicked things off with the Blue Fin Tuna Tartare, which is a surprisingly sizable shared plate. It’s incredibly fresh with a slow-burn heat that sneaks up on you without being obnoxious. For the mains, the Spicy Vodka Rigatoni was a pleasant surprise—mostly because it wasn’t actually that spicy, which was a relief for my palate. The portion was massive, as was the Chicken Parmesan. I was a bit baffled that a chicken parm would show up without a sidecar of pasta, but it was so high-quality I almost forgave the omission. Both traveled home with us and, in a rare turn of events, tasted just as good for lunch the next day. The real plot twist, however, was dessert. I am historically not a strawberry ice cream person, but their strawberry soft serve with the chocolate chip cookie was fantastic—refreshing, authentic, and not that artificial pink flavor you find at a grocery store. To top it off, the service was impeccable, and the dirty martini comes with the kind of theatrical presentation that makes you feel much more important than you actually are.
My wife and I went there for Valentine’s Day. The ambience is a bit dark but the vibes are great. We ordered the bread service, truffle caesar, malfadine bolognese, crab agnolotti, 32 oz Tomahawk steak, and the house cheesecake. Everything was very good and our server was very friendly. This place also has a large list of spirits although we did not partake.
Everything was great! The atmosphere is very elegant and well-decorated. The waiter was very kind! There aren't many options on the menu, but they are quite interesting. I chose the crab pasta and it was spectacular—the only problem is that the portion is small! I could have easily eaten more. The bread is also small. On the other hand, the desserts are huge enough for more than one person and are amazing! The chocolate one is divine! We really liked it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Adalina is one of those restaurants that knows exactly who it is—sophisticated, stylish, and delicious from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the vibe felt right. The lighting, the decor, the music—all set the tone for a night that felt both elevated and relaxed. We started with cocktails, and I’ve got to give them credit for creativity. My drink literally said “Friday Vibes” on top, and that’s exactly what the night felt like. The espresso martini was smooth and strong, not too sweet, and it paired perfectly with the rest of the meal. The food was a knockout. The pasta was rich and comforting, coated in a tomato sauce that actually tasted homemade—fresh basil, crushed tomatoes, and just the right balance of seasoning. The lamb chops were tender, cooked perfectly, and the flavor had that deep char that makes you slow down and appreciate every bite. The sides were no filler either—everything had its own spotlight moment on the plate. And then there were the cookies. I’m not exaggerating when I say they might’ve been some of the best I’ve ever had—gooey centers, melted chunks of chocolate, and that warm, buttery smell that just hits right. Adalina easily earns a top spot on my Chicago list. Whether you’re out with friends, on a date, or celebrating something special, it’s the kind of place that guarantees good food, good drinks, and great memories.
The first time I went for my birthday the experience did not go well… I contacted the restaurant because the server hardly ever attended us and was rude. Also beware portions are small. But, Brooke was kind enough to invite us back and the service truly lived up to the reviews. The new server was very kind and welcoming, along with the “food runners”, they were always kind the 1st and 2nd time around. The scallops were buttery and soft, some of the best I’ve tried! The shrimp and bread were also excellent, not to mention the Blue Fin Tuna Tartare. My main was halibut. It’s fresh and light, not heavy at all, perfect way to end the night - definitely recommend! We also tried caviar, gnocchi, and my friend had the salmon. The gnocchi had way too much sauce so you couldn’t really taste the pasta. And my friends thought the vodka rigatoni portion was too small. For dessert my friends ordered Tiramisu and chocolate hazelnut cake but it was too fudgy for me. The tiramisu wasn’t moist and filled with flavor. I evidently lucked out on my birthday raspberry gelato, it wasn’t sour, just sweet and subtle. I loved the bday cocktails as I wanted that my first time around since it’s a special touch. I ordered the steak my first time here, but it was salted extremely heavy. Overall, if you want authentic Italian food I would suggest another spot. But if you want a boujee/pretty ambiance vibe for instagram pics, this is your go to spot! They also have a side room that holds up to 20 people I believe, for private parties(see video). It is super cute for a nice intimate vibe!
Love this upscale italian spot! The interior is dark and moody- perfect for a date night. The only drawback is that it can get a little too loud but the food is amazing! We got the gnocco fritto and charred octopus for appetizers. For mains we got the spicy vodka rigatoni and campenelle. Everything we got was amazing!!! Love their handmade pastas. For dessert we got the chocolate hazelnut cake which was heavenly!
I saw Chef Soo Ahn on Top Chef and loved his creative dishes. So knowing he’s the executive chef at Adalina, it’s been on my radar. I was not disappointed. First, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. The attentive wait staff is top-notch and I loved our server Javier. My husband ordered a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino, my favorite. They have an extensive selection. We shared the caviar service and also the truffle caesar. I love truffle everything and this salad was crisp & fresh and lightly dressed with a fabulous truffle dressing. And caviar? ‘Nuf said! There were 5 mini gnocco fritto with whipped ricotta and a half ounce of golden kaluga caviar. For dinner, my husband had the veal chop parmigiana and I had the salmon Vesuvio. Both excellent dishes. The veal chop was huge and so tender. It was in a spicy tomato sauce. My salmon was a perfect medium with a crispy potato crust with lighter than air gnocchi. We ended our meal sharing the limoncello blackberry tart. Divine! Tonight’s dining experience was amazing. The only thing missing was meeting the chef. Highly recommend!
Beautiful restaurant with an elegant atmosphere and excellent food. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared, and the service was professional and welcoming. Great place for a special night out. I would definitely come back.
The service all-around was excellent and very attentive. Our waitress Taylor was especially great. Little things like the design on the foam of my espresso martini made this a very fun dinner for our group. The food was also delicious! The bread service was the highlight of the appetizers we ordered. The pastas we ordered were all excellent as well. Pricey spot, but felt worth it for our last night of vacation. Glad we chose to came here.
I came here for my birthday and it did not disappoint Nick was an Amazing he took care of us so well extraordinary serve. Jesus Jaime and lobo also made sure we were well taking care of and sang so beautifully for my birthday. We felt so special we were addressed by first name which was lovely. Brooke came by many times to make sure we were taken care of the overall experience was A1 and the food was magnificent💜
The place is beautiful inside and everything we ordered was delicious and came out quickly. Our server was kind and answering our questions and making suggestions. I tried their salmon, someone else tried the bolognese, we had another who had the spicy rigatoni and added shrimp to it. We did the shrimp cocktail in meatballs for appetizers as well as two orders of the bread service if it was so good. They martinis are made for you at the table and amazing.
Had an amazing experience here! The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent. Everything was smooth from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this place and will for sure be coming back!
Fellow travelers, when in Chicago around Near North Side, please visit Adalina. A modern upscale place that combines traditional flavors with innovation presented in a warm romantic ambiance. The staff provided service that was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Service was terrific with recommendations on menu items and wine pairings. We went with the suggestion of sharing an entrée and a protein, and it was enough food for two. During our visit, we ordered the following items: - Gnocchi Fritto - Bread Service - 2022 San Felice Chianti Classico - Gnocchi della Nonna - Veal Chop Parmigiana All the items were presented beautifully and were delicious. We were celebrating a birthday, and for the special occasion, our server brought us a chocolate dessert. A very nice gesture from the team at Adalina. Adalina is a fantastic place to celebrate a special occasion, have a date, and visit when traveling.
The food is delicious, each dish prepared with care and authentic flavors that shine. The cocktails are perfectly crafted, balancing creativity with refinement and pairing beautifully with the menu. Service is attentive and professional, making you feel welcomed throughout the evening. The interior is stunning, with a beautiful ambiance that elevates the overall dining experience.
Incredible food and atmosphere. They made us feel special for our anniversary. Loved it!
Our reservation was for 6:30pm on a Saturday to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The first floor hostess greeted us by name and congratulated us on our anniversary as did the second floor hosts. Almost immediately after being seated the General Manager, Colin Hofer, stopped by our table to welcome us and chat for a few minutes. The ambiance of main dining room includes high ceilings with softly lit ceiling coves, chandeliers, wall sconces and stylized Art Deco features. From our table at the window, we sat on the outer edge of a pleasant buzz of conversations by neighboring diners. Our server/guide for the evening, Fatimah, was knowledgeable, attentive, inspired us to enjoy ourselves and treated us to an anniversary prosecco! She engaged us as we made our selections leading to a very memorable experience! For our appetizers we had the bread service, gnocco fritto and fried green tomato caprese. Each was fantastic and complimented one another! Our entrees were equally exceptional. I had roasted halibut with shellfish brodo, lemon aioli and charred fennel. My wife had the veal chop parmigiana with spicy tomato and crispy basil. Our son had the mezzi rigatoni with peperonata sauce, grana padano and peperoncini. All three were spectacular! Not to be forgotten!!! For a vegetable we ordered the roasted carrots with cashews in a caramel sauce. Wow!!! Desert was as special as the rest of the meal. Fatimah surprised us with an anniversary chocolate mousse tart which was delightful. The mango calamansi sorbet was like eating a soft frozen, amazingly sweet, mango!! The Adalina tiramisu has coffee, chocolate, Lady Finger crunch, amaretto gelato and a Bourbon sauce. This is one of the most intriguing items of the evening. Cutting into the tiramisu one can see and feel the spongy cake. Putting it in your mouth, everything just melts together. It's like there never was anything solid! The very last taste is a slight hint of the Bourbon sauce. We topped off our incredible three hour meal with a cappuccino and made our short walk back home! What an evening!!!! Reviewing the menu prior to our visit, we noticed the polenta with pistachio gremolata and mimolette cheese. Regrettably we forgot to order it...this time! During our meal we asked Fatimah if Chef Soo Ahn ever prepared Ossobuco as a special. A favorite entree from our wedding, this is a traditional Italian dish of veal shanks braised in broth, white wine, and vegetables. Our fingers are crossed that a certain squeaky wheel gets a call announcing an Ossobuco special!!! For these and numerous other reasons, we have to return soon!!!! We strongly recommend the dining experience at Adalina!!
The food and service were great at Adalina! Gnocco Fritto and Wild Mushrooms Bowtie were my favorite dishes. Our server, Paul, provided excellent insight on the menu and an enjoyable experience throughout the night.
Excellent service from Nick! Came here recently & ended up loving everything about our meal - but then came again with my parents & an even more incredible experience! The Pistachio Ice Cream is a MUST.
Catie was PHENOMENAL! I celebrated my birthday and a partial anniversary but the service was beyond amazing! Depending on if you are going on a special date night or celebrating something special, don’t skip on an unforgettable experience!
We went here in 2023 and I’ve been dreaming about that Veal Parmigiana ever since! Well we got it again tonight! It was 👌🏻the wine sommelier Alex was awesome and helped us pick a great red from France!
We were warmly greeted. The service is exceptional from start to finish. The wine list is extensive so plan to enjoy more than one selection. Our group of five shared numerous appetizers and entrees. All were delicious. The octopus was a favorite. The attention to detail on presentation was remarkable. Try any of the pastas and try not to overlook the chicken!
Make your reservation now! I celebrated my birthday with two friends at Adalina for dinner this past weekend, and everyone made me feel so special. Fatimah, our server, was amazing—super sweet, gave great recommendations, and ensured we had an incredible experience. It didn’t stop there… I think almost every staff member wished me a happy birthday at some point! That “simple” gesture goes a long way and really made an impression on me. My espresso martini even had 'happy birthday' in latte art. We were also given celebratory champagne and a delicious dessert to share. After dinner, we headed to the Rose Lounge and received the same fantastic service. The bartender there also went above and beyond to make us feel special.
This restaurant was a real joy to experience. The wait staff was phenomenal and each dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We ordered the meatball appetizer which was sweet and savory with the best blend of tender meats and herbs I’ve ever encountered. We then ordered a pasta to share and ordered the salmon and halibut. But again, cooked to perfection and seasoned in proportion to the fish. The food and dining experience was overall a must. If there was room for dessert after this, we would have ordered! Take a trip and try it out. We will be back to try more!
Absolutely loved our dining experience at Adalina! The ambiance was elegant yet welcoming — perfect for a special night out. We tried the Charred Octopus, Mezzi Rigatoni, and Grilled Branzino, and everything was flavorful and perfectly executed. The staff were incredibly warm and professional. Special thanks to Assistant General Manager Kamil, who was exceptionally attentive and made our evening even more memorable. Highly recommend for both the food and the experience — we’ll definitely be back!
Been on our list for awhile, but had to scoop a reservation after seeing Chef Soo on Top Chef this season. Menu is approachable and fairly priced, especially some of the early courses and sides. Service was exceptional and you can feel a real sense of intention to detail from the water glasses to the plating. We opted for cocktails and were not disappointed in the least.
I visited Adalina with colleagues while in town for a conference. It was a very classy, date night type resturant. We couldn't decide what to get so the waitress recommended we do a family style meal and try many things. What an amazing culinary experience. The pasta and steak were DELICIOUS! I would absolutely recommend this as a wonderful special occasion spot.
My partner and I decided to dine here on Valentine's Day/ my birthday celebration and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. Despite the bustling crowd, the staff went above and beyond to ensure every customer felt valued and attended to. Each dish was crafted with precision and bursting with flavor. From the appetizers to the dessert, every bite was a culinary masterpiece. Furthermore, the service was impeccable. Despite the hectic atmosphere, the workers were incredibly helpful. They prioritized our needs and ensured that we had everything we desired throughout the evening. Their professionalism and warmth added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was another highlight. The interior was tastefully decorated, with soft lighting that created a cozy and romantic atmosphere perfect for Valentine's Day. It was evident that great care was taken in designing the space, and it truly enhanced our overall experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, Adalina is the place to be. We will definitely be returning in the near future!
Great food with super attentive staff! We went for our anniversary and they celebrated with us. Our server was Nydia and she was incredible. She made great recommendations and was well informed about the menu selections. Definitely going to come back!
Adalina is a 10/10 Chicago restaurant - the food and service is amazing, interior decor is beautiful. Beet crudo was unique and delicious. The short rib and polenta was chef’s kiss - so tender and braised for 6 hours. Scallops were fresh and perfectly cooked. The waiter suggested a fantastic wine pairing (Villebois Sancerre) and non alcoholic cocktail (Spice of Life). Finishing it all off with a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich. Only thing not 10/10 would be the loud noise level and tables were too close together making it hard to block out neighboring conversations. I would definitely come back again.
This place genuinely surprised me. I tried the Restaurant Week menu expecting smaller portions or a scaled‑back experience, but they delivered across the board. Every dish was excellent, the portions were generous, and the overall experience felt thoughtful and well executed. I’d happily come back.
We had dinner here the Monday after our wedding with my new in laws and it was fantastic. Taylor was our server and was delightful and attentive. We had the truffle Caesar, bread service, and I had the Crab Agnolotti (so good). We shared the limonchello tart for dessert. Overall 10/10 would go back
What a wonderful evening and experience that was curated for us. Brooke, on both occasions was lovely, hospitable, and upheld the utmost professionalism. I can’t wait to continue to patronize Adelina. The entire staff was attentive and kind. We truly felt like we were taken care of. Thank you all! Jesus, Jaime and Nick were amazing as well!
What a wonderful meal and a wonderful experience. My wife and I dined here in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary and I'm very happy we chose it. First - Taylor was our server and she was awesome..... Excellent..... Made us feel special, her guidance through the menu helped us pick great appetizers + entrees, and she was just on point. She really contributed to a great evening. There was nothing we ordered that we didn't enjoy. We started with the Caesar salad, the bread course and charred octopus. The bread service lived up to the hype.... It was cheesey and warm. The Caesar was nice and light with the pink peppercorns really adding to the dish I got the pasta with shrimp and wife got the spider crab pasta. Both were flavorful and we wish we had more room in our stomachs. Rounded out the meal with the tiramisu and strawberry ice cream. Great closer to the meal. We will absolutely return because of how enjoyable everything was. Thanks, Adalina and Taylor for giving us such a memorable experience.
Very delicious. We ordered the octopus, caviar service, and white truffle fettuccine. All were delicious, especially the fettuccine. The umami flavor was very strong, and the white truffle flavor from the sliced white truffle was prominent, allowing us to actually taste the ingredient. We especially loved our waiter Luis, he was very funny! Usually waiters are too serious and all business, but he was cracking jokes while providing service. To us, it was great. Our other waiter was more traditional, and we greatly appreciate that we had both waiters attending to us. It truly completed the experience we were hoping for. That being said, tonight was a very busy night, and there was an absolutely boisterous individual in the back. Many different tables were annoyed with the behavior, but no action was taken. They even started singing Happy Birthday very loudly at one point! It took away from the atmosphere, which would've been perfect otherwise.
Our first time at the restaurant for my son’s 16th Birthday. It is absolutely fantastic. Food was amazing and Paul our server went above and beyond. Highly recommend this restaurant. Best of all they have Halal options. We will definitely come back. One of the best Italian restaurants. Special thank to Paul and the entire staff for making this a memorable evening for the entire family.
Phenomenal experience. Everyone we encountered was friendly and professional. Our server was welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful and very accommodating. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend the carrots and my chicken Milanese was fantastic. The drinks, the atmosphere and the people were lovely. I’m visiting for work and I would absolutely return here next time I’m in town. Beautiful restaurant, wonderful food and the staff made it an unforgettable evening. Thank you!!
I initially called Adelina and received some conflicting information, but everything turned around the moment I was connected with one of the managers, Kevin. He was absolutely extraordinary to work with and went above and beyond—especially on New Year’s Eve—to make sure we were well taken care of and perfectly situated. His professionalism, warmth, and willingness to help truly set the tone for the entire evening. The restaurant itself was spotless, beautifully maintained, and the entire staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Our waitress, Miriam, was phenomenal—attentive, friendly, and made the experience seamless from start to finish. I could not speak more highly of Adelina. Between the exceptional service, the atmosphere, and especially Kevin’s dedication, this place truly stands out. We will absolutely be back.
This place is so nice and perfect for celebrating a friends birthday. We waited more than half and hour to be seated but overall the food was really good. Got their lamb bolognese and it had so much flavors. Their bread service was good was well. I loved how they have rotating sorbet to try and the tiramisu was really good and creamy. Loved how everything was decorated for Christmas.
We celebrated our anniversary and my wife’s birthday at Adalina, and overall it turned into a really memorable evening with a few standout dishes and excellent hospitality. We started with the market oysters. They were fresh, clean, and had a great briny flavor. The cocktail sauce complemented them perfectly, and it was a great way to begin the meal. The baked bay scallops were another hit. The anchovy butter and lemony breadcrumbs added so much richness and flavor. They were salty in the best way, although the portion felt a little small for the price. The spicy vodka rigatoni was the highlight of the night. The sauce was creamy with just the right amount of heat, and the pasta tasted soft and handmade. It was one of those plates you wish wouldn’t end. Easily one of the best pastas I’ve had in Chicago. The main entrées were more mixed. The chicken Milanese had a nice salad and dressing, but the chicken itself was dry and felt pretty plain without any sauce or accompaniment. It just didn’t feel worth the price. The salmon vesuvio was cooked well and had a good crust, and the gnocchi on the side was tasty, but the overall seasoning fell short. For a $37 dish, I expected a bit more flavor and substance. The cocktails were excellent. The Fume e Frutta had a beautifully balanced smokiness from the mezcal, and The Spice of Life was refreshing and enjoyable. Service was one of the strongest parts of the evening. The staff was friendly, kind, and never rushed us. They brought complimentary champagne and surprised us with strawberry sorbet and candles for the celebration, which was a really thoughtful touch. The restaurant has an upscale, cozy feel with dim lighting, and it was especially inviting on a cold winter night. Overall, Adalina delivers great hospitality and some truly amazing dishes, especially the pasta and cocktails. A few entrées missed the mark for the price point, but it’s still a place I would return to, particularly for another bowl of that vodka rigatoni.
You Need To Know? Had reservations for 5:30 & we were seated immediately. The Italian menu has many options for any pallet. On this occasion we had the chicken scampi, prime rib special & the surf & turf. Portion sizes were huge & everyone had leftovers. The 14 Oz prime rib was supposed to come with a creamy horseradish sauce which drew me to this dish. Sauce did not come out with the dinner. When I asked the waitress went to retrieve a side of it & low & behold she brought me sour cream. The chicken on the scampi seemed a bit overcooked but was flavorful. Surf & turf was filet mignon & lobster tail which was very good & large portions. Adalina downtown was a great dinner spot. Now You Know! -TBH
I went here for restaurant week and I enjoyed the experience. The service from all of the staff members was great and welcoming. Each course was perfectly timed and the drink was tasty and well-crafted. The food was delicious, but the star of the show for me was the beet salad, I loved every bit of that dish. My only critique was the ice cream sandwich. It was my least favorite and a little underwhelming compared to the other dishes and difficult to eat with the spoon that was given to us, but overall it was a nice lively aesthetically pleasing spot.
Here’s what you need to know: this is a super popular Gold Coast eatery and it’s location dictates it’s focus. The food is just OK, (desserts are excellent though) but it’s the lovely “see and be seen” atmosphere that has its guests coming in. Service is good not great. Bussing team is trained to quickly remove everything from the table even if they interrupt you while you’re serving your own plate from a main sharing plate on the table. Overall, all the food was somewhat enjoyable but unmemorable with the exception of the deconstructed pesto bell pasta and the desserts. The bread service was enjoyable too. Everything else from the octopus to the truffle salad to the seafood pasta to the gnocchi and the prosciutto was fine and serviceable but nothing to write home about. All the appetizers are very, very creamy and cheesy with no acid to counter the richness. That Imbalance was stark. With wine, we spend $400 on 4 persons
Ordered Cesar salad& meatball as appetizers, and ravioli & Calamari as the main dish. Calamari was bland & barely fried. But everything else was delicious. Made reservations, service was still extremely busy but all employees were pleasant.
Beautiful restaurant, great location and interesting menu. We didn't know what to expect coming for brunch. Prosciutto Board-there is no actual board but it is sliced table side. The Prosciutto was good. I liked that it wasn't salty too. Gnocchi-tasty Carbonara-rich, a little on the salty side with the pork bits in it. They say it's prepared table side but they basically toss it at the table. Service was attentive and helpful. It was hard to gauge this restaurant because the brunch menu was OK, dinner maybe a better option.
Wonderful ambiance. Good service but the server went MIA. Stay away from the artichokes. Great flavor but they were fried in a way that created pieces on EACH piece of artichoke that were NOT chewable, similar to shrimp shells. What the heck? In reading other reviews, we see they had bread service. Who knew? None was offered.
When visiting Chicago in 2023 (from Texas), I ordered the Mafaldine pasta. It was without question one of the best main courses I’ve ever had. After being removed from the menu, I was delighted to see it had returned when we visited this year for the holidays. But to my disappointment, the recipe changed. The new version of the Mafaldine was not even in the same stratosphere as the dish I ate in 2023. It tasted like an average lasagna from a chain Italian restaurant. We did convey our disappointment to the floor manager, and they offered us two complimentary deserts. I do need to note that the appetizers, deserts, service, and ambiance were excellent. But even as I write this, I’m dreaming about the pasta I had in 2023. Please share with the chef that the new Maldafine pales in comparison! I am posting the 2023 version of this amazing pasta that I will never forget!
Don’t miss the bread service and the chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Food leans spicy, even the Caesar salad (delicious) filet has vinaigrette but was cooked to perfect temperature. Server knew a lot about the food and was ready to recommend. Adalina seems no longer new but a staple just west of Oak Street.
After a lackluster first visit to Adalina, my second time offered some improvement especially in terms of service, which was attentive and much more warm. Unfortunately, the food still felt inconsistent. The charred octopus was well-seasoned this time but was still just a touch overcooked. Beef carpaccio was decent but the experience was dampened by the cold bread it came with. The charred filet was the standout of the meal: cooked perfectly to my liking, well-salted, and complemented nicely by a delicious spring mushroom conserva. The lamb rack, however, continued to be the weakest dish: tough, undersalted, and had a noticeably gaminess that overshadowed the rest of the dish. There are some bright spots on the menu but consistency remains a work in progress.
I came to Adalina again to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend. Service was excellent from the start. We were seated quickly and given welcome drinks, which was super sweet! Our drinks and apps were amazing. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon and I ordered the A5 wagyu. Our entrees did take a little bit to come out but we understood the restaurant was pretty busy, especially for a Tuesday. Our steaks came out and immediately I thought my steak looked off. I’ve had wagyu before at Gibson’s which was probably the best steak I have ever had. But the wagyu that was presented to me definitely looked off. It was extremely fatty, like chunks of fat and not the typical marbling. I had to either spit out or just not eat 50% of the steak due to it being so fatty and gristly. This was extremely disappointing, as last time we visited Adalina, our meals were amazing. We alerted our server of our concern and said a manager would be over to speak to us. Once he arrived, he tried to explain that wagyu is supposed to be fatty. But obviously not in the way I received. I was disappointed with how the manager handled the situation instead of just admitting I either got a bad cut or it wasn’t actually wagyu. We did receive complimentary drinks and dessert after for our anniversary which were both delicious. It was just a huge letdown though, considering the steak was $135 and barely edible. Service was amazing besides that, and thank you to our server Fatimah for going above and beyond.
Absolutely gorgeous interior and ambiance. Comfortable and well spaced seating. Our waiter Chad made this one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had. He was very attentive, had a humorous and chatty demeanor, but not in a way that was over the top. I loved how he presented the menu to us with in depth knowledge of every dish, which I think should be the standard with fine dining. Why did I give a two? The food. So underwhelming, and it bummed me out. We ordered 8 dishes and shared all of them to get a feel for the restaurant’s vision. Presentation was impeccable. Every ingredient was fresh and felt cohesive. But the portions were extremely small, and only half of the food made me feel blown away by the taste and flavors. My biggest grievance and ultimate pet peeve: every single hot dish besides the bread service came to our table lukewarm, which likely means these plates sat at the pass in the kitchen for a while. As a fatty foodie fine dining connoisseur, it drives me insane! It completely changes the taste and intent of the flavor profile. For the price (our bill was over $400) and disappointing food, I will absolutely not be back. I think it’s important to mention: my two friends and I came here because on their first visit at Adalina, they had a terrible experience, so she posted a review about it. The restaurant manager Peter asked her to email him, because he’d love to personally invite her to come back to “have the experience she deserved”. That’s why we went. But where was he? No greeting, no stopping by our table to check in, even though on our reservation she was listed as a manager VIP. Even just the gesture of a complimentary drink or a dessert would have been nice. Since he never showed his face, she asked the waiter to call Peter over to give him a piece of her mind. He finally comes 20 minutes later, even though we could see him just standing by the kitchen. He seemed irritated as though he couldn’t be bothered and was even arguing with her to justify his actions. It was so unpleasant that it ruined our night because it just killed the vibe. Maybe Peter should ask for more training for a managerial role, or perhaps get even a different role entirely…I’ve received better customer service and professionalism from managers at McDonald’s…which is where we wanted to go after, because we were all still hungry from the tiny portions. FELLOW FOODIES: Avoid Adalina like the plague! Unless you like tiny portions and overpriced mediocre food. I’ll be sure to spread the word.
