We’ve been to Carmine’s on Rush 3 times since they have opened. We dream about the Italian Ice, lasagna and chicken parmesan. 2 times we sat at the bar upstairs. Fun vibe and music. The portions are huge and the ambiance is gorgeous. Can’t wait for the outside patio to open! So wonderful to have a classic Italian restaurant in the neighborhood!
Listen… everybody cannot get me outside in negative 35-degree Chicago weather at night 😩❄️ But for my goddaughter’s 18th birthday, I did it and let me tell you, it was WORTH IT. Every negative degree. Every layer of clothing. Every step outside 😂 Italian food is my absolute favorite, so I was excited to see that Carmine’s Italian Restaurant is back open and just in time for Chicago Restaurant Week! 🙌🏽 The $60 Restaurant Week menu did not disappoint. For appetizers, you can choose between stuffed mushrooms or calamari. For salads, there’s the caprese or Caesar salad. Quick note: the Caesar dressing does include anchovies, which gives it a strong, authentic Italian flavor so if you’re sensitive to that or have allergies, just keep that in mind. For your main course, you can choose from a variety of pastas like cheese ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, and more or go for an entrée. I had the chicken parmesan, and baby… it was EVERYTHING 😌🍝 And for dessert, you get to choose between tiramisu or cheesecake. The portion sizes? Let’s just say they understood the assignment 👏🏽 I was so hungry that I started eating before taking pictures, so I only snapped my entrée 😏 The staff was friendly, the vibe was intimate yet spacious, and the aesthetics were beautiful. Carmine’s used to be one level, but now it’s two levels, and the space feels warm, elevated, and welcoming. I’m honestly just happy that Carmine’s is back open. And yes I’ll definitely be going back. If you’re looking for a cozy Italian spot with great food and atmosphere, do yourself a favor and check out Carmine’s. 🇮🇹✨
They nailed the redesign. The food and service are outstanding. You can tell they brought the right team in to make this place special.
We were there for a birthday party a couple weeks ago! Great time, great service!
The food is delicious, the ambiance is great and the service was perfect. We are so happy Carmine's is back in our neighborhood.
Massive dish size - do share ;) lovely place, with a louder music
Really enjoyed this place. Went for restaurant week so the menu was slightly different, but everything we had was delicious. The best was the entree, the New York strip steak, which was perfectly cooked. Was a really solid steak considering the price. The vodka rigatoni was really good but i don’t think I could eat a whole dish of it. The tiramisu as a dessert was delicious but would try the chocolate cake next time, saw it come out and had like 7 layers. Would absolutely come back.
Carmine's is a fabulous Italian restaurant! The restaurant has a really cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the food is absolutely delicious. Stopped in for Chicago Restaurant Week and everything we tried was incredible! Not to mention, the staff is incredibly attentive and friendly—truly the icing on the cake! Carmine's is definitely a must-visit spot next time you're in Chicago.
We just visited again and Scott was our server. He was engaged, funny, and offered up great recommendations! We'll be back. Our sever Jay was great. The food was incredible. Large portions and tons of leftovers. The quality of the food, preparation and presentation were all on point. I will return again soon.
We celebrated our anniversary here during the pandemic. They were very careful, the staff was wearing a mask. The food was good and comes in big servings. Mostly good for two servings. The staff was friendly. We love our waiter's suggestion for dessert. (The carrot cake with a glass of milk.) We've tried it, and I think that was the best carrot cake in the area. Located in a prime location on Rush street. The food we ordered was very good too. Try the baked cavatelli if you're a fan of cheese. My hubby got a traditional meat lasagna, It was yummy too. I usually order prosecco for my drink but I've ordered a rose wine this time and I didn't like it. It was a bitter table wine. Hubby got a Moscow mule.
I’ve never been happier to see a restaurant reopen! It’s been too long. I love Carmines. I crave the eggplant stack (get it chopped) and go out of my way to come and eat that at Carmines. I recently dined in Yuly’s section and she was fantastic. She was attentive and friendly. I’ll be back many, many, times.
Yule got us the best seafood tower in all chicago !!! Definitely ask for her next time you come to dinner. Stella & sara at the front are ultra professional. Congrats Carmines team !! Excellent upgrade.
Great atmosphere and Superior service! The best meatballs in the city just like grandma used to make. Food is well seasoned and portions are large. Everything was delicious and cooked to the perfection 🤌🏽 we ordered a bit of everything appetizers, steak, salad, pasta, cold and hot seafood, dessert oh and did I mention the meatballs 😋♥️😘
First time visiting and will definitely be returning. Came for a late lunch and was immediately greeted and seated. Artin served us and provided excellent service throughout. Bruschetta was amazing, pasta delicious, and cannoli was the perfect ending to our amazing dining experience.
Ate at Carmine’s & it absolutely hit. Our server Jennifer (Jenn?) was the bees knees. Super warm, sharp, knew the menu, kept everything moving without rushing us. While we were waiting to get seated, Chad behind the bar took care of us & shot the breeze, which made time fly. Food was exactly what you want. Big portions, you leave fat & happy not questioning your life choices. If you like legit Italian food (for the midwest) & service that feels human, this place is it.
Great atmosphere. Friendly & attentive staff. Amazing cocktails, and at nearly $20 a drink- they need to be good! Tasty food at Gold Coast prices. I was a bit disappointed by the underwhelming bread basket.
Solidly good if mostly unexceptional food at a high price point. Very good cocktails. Beautiful space but very loud
The food is the same as it was prior to the reopening, generally good, but pricing has become absurdly high. Not worth it at all for basic Italian. Everything is easily 20% overpriced.
This was our first time dining at Carmine’s. After the meal, we submitted direct feedback to the restaurant and, after more than 48 hours without any response, felt it was appropriate to share our experience publicly. We were dining with our two children, ages 8 and 5, who were very well behaved. When our server took our order, I specifically asked that the meal be properly paced. That request was not respected. Appetizers and salads arrived at the same time, and appetizers, salads, and entrees were all served within about 45 minutes of being seated, despite it taking nearly 20 minutes to place our order. The meal felt rushed rather than enjoyable. We were also never offered olive oil, Parmesan, or pepper with our bread, while other nearby tables were. Based on the experience, it felt that because we were dining with children, we were treated differently and hurried through the meal. This was not the relaxed, family-style dining experience we expected.
Pathetic excuse for an overpriced Olive Garden. They started by stripping away all the character and charm from what used to be a photo-lined, entrance and neighborhood mainstay. What once was the heartbeat of the Gold Coast, now looks like one massive coat check. Then, they packed it with orange vinyl covered furniture. Next, they told the waiters (probably a 1:15 waiter to table ratio) to pretend like they own the place and lead with arrogance to see if anyone notices. We noticed. The manager humiliated our waiter but it did not fix the wait time or the food quality. Our toddler waited a good 45 minutes for his $30+ penne (no high chair an no kids menu) and the burger came out looking like it was removed from a window display. I wouldn’t wish this place on an airport, let alone Rush St.
