Wow this place is amazing! The views are incredible!! I Celebrated Valentine’s Day with my husband at Gibsons Italia & we were very pleased with the service & the food! Our waiter Michael was excellent & very friendly. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chicago! We will definitely come back in the summer.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Gibson’s Italia! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. What truly made the evening special was our server, Antonio. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Antonio offered excellent recommendations and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal without ever being intrusive. His professionalism and warm personality truly elevated the experience. We will definitely be back and hope to be served by Antonio again. Highly recommend!

Not the first time and won’t be the last! Never disappoints! Crab 🦀 Avocado 🥑 for starters was fresh and light, very summery taste. The meatballs with the whipped cheese and king Crab Arrabbiatta was phenomenal. One of the best locations on the Chicago Riverwalk

Kaylyn was the best waitress overall I ever met at Gibson. The risotto was the best. I love it so much and also the banana gelato was excellent. Crabcake was also my favorite.

A big shoutout to our server Ivan who made our anniversary dinner so lovely!! The service was top notch, the views of the Chicago River were beautiful from our table, and food was delicious, from the focaccia app to the porterhouse to the side dishes. Honorable mention to the chocolate cake at the end: I usually don’t go for a chocolatey dessert but this one had beautifully chocolatey layers, perfect textures, DIVINE!

Went for my husband's birthday. Had never been here but I've been wanting to go ever since it opened. What a great restaurant!! The server was awesome! I believe her name was Jennie. So attentive in the best way. Had appetizers, a pasta course and then steaks. Everything was delicious! The view from our table was incredible and loved seeing the buildings along the river light up as the sun set. I must go back soon, it's really that good. Husband loved it and still talks about it. I believe we arrived at 530 and left around 830, the night just flowed easily.

Celebrated my wife's birthday here today, after seeing this restaurant countless times on social media and different shows we wanted to give it a shot. All I can say is it surpassed expectations breath taking views, incredible food, and amazing service. Our waitress Alisha was very helpful and kind and made us feel at home. The bisque was incredible and so was the wagyu strip , we also loved the spicy rigatoni and brussel sprouts. All in all we will definitely be coming back!

Went here to treat myself after the Chicago Marathon 2025 because I have see. A lot of amazing reviews. And they didn’t disappoint! I walked in and got a table, the reception was so welcoming and friendly, the staff at the second floor was so friendly too. I ordered the Chicago steak and it was amazing! I was wearing my medal when I went - they are so sweet they gave me a free dessert - chicolate cake with vanilla ice cream. My waitress - Elena - was the best! I was dining alone and she made sure I was attended properly. Thank you so much. I’ll definitely recommend to friends.

This was a very wonderful experience. Each member of the staff that had anything to do with our reservation was extremely kind and professional. Our dinner selections were as beautiful as they were delicious. Since I wasn't clear on the "soup bowl licking policy" at Gibson's, I restrained myself, but it wasn't easy, as the King Crab Bisque was one of the best things I've ever tasted.

A modern, upscale Italian restaurant beautifully located by the downtown Chicago River. We were offered a fantastic window table for our dinner and the server and staffs went above and beyond my expectation in their exceptional hospitality. All the plates we had — from appetizer and salad to the main steak and dessert — were undoubtedly delicious, too. Would love to dine at this charm again.

Loved this place. The focaccia garlic bread is a must warm and super soft. Got the rigatoni and they swapped the vodka sauce for regular tomato sauce for me and it was delicious. Great service and nice atmosphere. Would 100% come back.

We had an amazing lunch on a beautiful Sunday. They sat us at a table by the window per our request and Ilarion went above and beyond to make our celebration very special. The brussel sprouts, papparedelle, and Chicago cut steak were delicious. We will be back!

Some restaurants serve steak. Gibsons Italia serves a statement. Our group of ten gathered for a business dinner and left with a masterclass in indulgence. From the start, the tone was clear—crisp linens, elegant glassware, and a menu that dares you to order bold. And we did. We opened with a sampler of antipasti—each bite more seductive than the last. The arancini was textbook creamy, the meatball was unapologetically rich, and the truffle risotto teased with depth and decadence. The spicy rigatoni played its part, giving just enough heat to wake up the palate without stealing the show. But let’s not mince words. You come to Gibsons for the meat. Our table took it seriously—ordering a board stacked with wagyu NY strip, Chicago cut, Australian lamb chops, and a few bone-in filets. All were cooked with surgeon-level precision, seared deeply and sliced thick. The crust cracked just enough before giving way to beef that was both buttery and assertive. The lamb chops were fragrant with rosemary and blushing pink to perfection. Sides played the supporting role as expected. The Brussels sprouts had attitude, the mushrooms brought earth, and the potato puree was silk in a bowl. Dessert was not an afterthought. A banana gelato tart stole the spotlight with playful nostalgia and layered sweetness. If you’re still holding court at the table by then, the tiramisu keeps the night lingering. Service was polished but never stiff. And while the final bill climbed into four-digit territory, it felt earned. This is not your weeknight dinner stop—it is your celebration, your deal-closer, your once-a-year indulgence. Gibsons Italia delivers drama and discipline. If you know what to order and how to enjoy it, you will leave grinning.

We visited for the first time after the theater and had an amazing experience! The views were stunning, and the food was absolutely delicious. Had a spectacular birthday lunch here over the weekend. Service was attentive without being smothering. Food was delicious...my dining companion and I sparred over the little crispy bits from the Brussel sprout dish. Ended the meal with the baked alaska-spumoni desert...such a nice choice. Well done!

this place is fricking fantastic!! I came here twice in a week and I can’t wait to go back again. I love the vibes, my server diana was professional/awesome and the oysters were so fresh. bill was around 500+ for two people, but honestly so worth.

The view from this place is amazing. Ethan was an amazing host . The food was spectacular , in presentation and taste👍👍 We ordered a bunch of pastas and a tomahawk steak. Ethan portioned everything for us except for the sides. For dessert I got the birthday special but others got tiramisu, which was, Oh so yum!! Altogether it was an amazing experience.!!

Here’s what you need to know: I’m really surprised at the quality and flavor profile of this mega popular restaurant which is always in the top 5 highest grossing restaurants in the US. I thought it would be more of a factory serving tourists and business lunches but in fact the service was intelligent and warm , the flavor profile of the food was excellent for all 3 things we tried. The house made Casprecce pasta was well beyond our expectations. The lemon zest freshness with the creamy yet airy ricotta was just WOW! The filet mignon sliders were cooked to perfection with a perfect brioche bun and terrific hand cut fries. The Chilean sea bass was delicious and perfectly cooked but the escarole was extremely gritty. That needed better cleaning and management should take note. We ended up struggling through that one. The ambiance in the open air terrace with perfect weather was just spectacular. The Soumoni Baked Alaska dessert with the three gelatos over a chocolate crust with lizards cherries was excellent - wait for it to thaw for about 5-7 minutes before you get it to be just right. It exceeded our expectations by a lot. Service by Jeff was outstanding and kitchen was on it with expedient delivery. Spent about $60/person for lunch.

Highly recommended restaurant if you are looking for a nice meal with a fantastic view or you want to impress coworkers, friends, and family. My best friend and I ate here to celebrate her birthday and we had a fantastic time. Pictured is the 7-YEAR AGED ACQUERELLO RISOTTO, CACIO E PEPE, WATERMELON SPRITZ, NO ALCOHOL ESPRESSO MARTINI, and BANANA GELATO. Not pictured is the FOCACCIA BREAD and two glasses of sparkling wine. They were also so kind and gave my friend a slice of chocolate cake and ice cream for her birthday! I am not a food critic and thus I cannot describe in great detail how the food tasted. What I can say though was that everything tasted amazing in my mouth, and my best friend agreed. Also the focaccia bread was seriously some of the best bread we've had in our lives. It was so good that we actually ordered another serving to-go. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Total was $180 for two people, but was heavily inflated because of the drinks and dessert. If you stick with just appetizers and an affordable entree, you're looking at only around $30-60 a person.

The ambiance of the restaurant was magical and the food quite delicious. The staff were very kind, courteous, and professional and made sure that you were well cared for. Christian and Wilson stood out and made sure glasses were filled and all needs were met. I have never tasted pureed potatoes so delicious, which could have been an entree by itself! All of the food was delicious with excellent service to match!

Loved my experience at Gibson! We got king crab bisque, garlic focaccia, king crab arrabiata, cacio e peppe, rigatoni vodka. Server was very nice, they even help split the dishes since we had many people. Arrabiata could be 10x more spicy, but that's because I'm a spicy food eater. Great time celebrating my birthday here. Thanks Gibson team, we'll be back!

We were trying to remember when we have had a restaurant experience this fantastic but couldn’t place one in recent memory. From start to finish Gibsons Italia did not disappoint. Ugo was an exceptional server and the rest of the staff followed suit, water filled, plates cleared, managers checking in to see if everything was meeting expectations. The Chicago view was a nice compliment to the total ambiance of the restaurant and the food was WOW (that’s what we kept saying after each bite). We ordered the meatballs (just like grandma made), king crab bisque, chicken parm, ribeye & banana gelato. Loved every bite! Just awesome 💕

I’ve been here multiple times. My go to place. Today my experience was over the top. I’ll drop a real review. Out of 5 stars I give 5 stars. It feels like you’re hanging out with family, which is what I love. I recommend doing the Wagyu Tomahawk at least once!!! Don’t forget to order the asparagus, my words can’t review it, try it for yourself!! ASK FOR MIGUEL! he’ll take your experience over the top!!!

It was a phenomenal dining experience at Gibsons Italia for a birthday celebration. The wine list was extensive, and my friend recommended Château d’Yquem Sauternes, which paired beautifully with the chocolate dessert—there was almost a sparkling chemistry between the two. The seafood platter was excellent—everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and effortless to enjoy. The champagne was the perfect match, especially with the bright, refreshing seafood. The truffle risotto was also perfectly executed—rich, aromatic, and deeply comforting. A heartfelt thank you to my wonderful friends, and a special shoutout to Ms. Elizabeth Jazur, who took exceptional care of us and made the evening truly special. With stunning views, warm hospitality, and consistently outstanding food—what more could I ask for?

My company hosted an event on the rooftop level of Gibsons. The staff were incredible, from the servers to the bartenders, to the staff cranking out the food. The Event Manager, Franco, was incredible. He was checking in with us every step along the way and quick on his toes if something was needed. The food was very delicious. The drinks made by the bartenders were beautiful and were very impressive to our guests. The views from this venue are incredible, both during the day and at night. Having the ability to have the glass doors and glass roof retract is a huge selling point for when the weather is nice in Chicago. After our event, Franco was able to arrange for our executive group to have dinner down on the third floor. All of the appetizers and food were incredible during our dinner, the wine was divine. Overall, Gibsons Italia was the perfect venue for our event.

My partner and I had reservations for Valentine’s Day. Everyone was so hospitable and sweet. I can’t believe the staff all wears white and manages to keep it clean throughout a shift. It’s like a magic trick, really lol. We had the Arancini, the filet mignon, and their New York strip. Everything was wonderful. I was very impressed with their Canal mocktail option. My partner loved the knowledge of our server for the wines and the food suggestions. He was really lovely. I wish his name didn’t slip my mind but I’ll include a pic of us incase he remembers taking the photo. He deserves some credit as he worked very hard and was very great. We enjoyed experiencing Chicago for the time we were there and out of all of the top restaurants we were suggested, this was our favorite! You can eat here for under $100 a person but for 2 steaks, 2 drinks, a starter, it was above that so I’d prepare for that unless you go and plan to budget.

From the moment we sat down, Jose absolutely went above and beyond to make our meal something truly special. Honestly, Jose gave us the best service and overall vibe we've ever had at any restaurant—anywhere. He made us feel welcome, taken care of, and even gave some amazing recommendations that we’re still talking about. The food? Unreal. Every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and exceeded our expectations (crispy artichokes , 7-year aged acquerello risotto, Chicago cut steak, French potato puree black truffle butter, ). To top it all off the view was amazing. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in Chicago. If you’re lucky enough to get Jose as your waiter—prepare for an experience that’s next level.

Incredible atmosphere of the restaurant! Summer terrace with a wonderful view of Chicago! We ordered a steak which was very tasty, as well as fish. Prosciutto and mozzarella were simply incredibly tasty, we were in Italy, so we felt again that unforgettable taste of fresh mozzarella. Dessert and drinks were also delicious! A great place to have an unforgettable lunch or dinner!

Went to a wedding reception on the top floor.. beautiful space! All opened up with great views of the river and the city. The food was out of this world! We tried so many hors d’oeuvres, prior to our several course meal. I had the Salmon (best I ever had) and my husband had the chicken. Our nether had the steak (a piece pictured with my salmon) and that was full of flavor as well. I can’t give you a cost though… I’m sure it was expensive. The staff was very professional and nice.. they worked their butts off that night and not one wasn’t smiling! It was a great night for all!

Great experience at Gibson’s italia when my mom was in from out of town. Service was professional and quick. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. We sat on the patio overlooking the river. Will definitely be back!

We had an incredible dining experience at Gibsons Italia and can’t wait to go back. The wagyu beef tartar was a standout—smoky, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with delicious pickled onions. Easily the best beef tartar I’ve had in a long time. The asparagus pasta with lemon zest was fresh and bright, and adding shrimp made it even better. We also sampled a few variations of Aperol spritzes, and each one was refreshing and perfectly mixed. To top it off, the tiramisu with espresso was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Service was top-notch, and the view of the river made the whole experience even more memorable. Highly recommend!

Came in to celebrate two birthdays on a weekday. Everything we ordered was amazing and fresh. The dining room on the 3rd floor has an amazing view of the river and downtown. The waiter and all other staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend coming in for any special occasions.

Visited Gibsons for a business dinner with clients. It was the perfect ambience for first time visitors to Chicago as a large portion of the two floor dinning room overlooks the river. It would also be a great choice for a special date night. Billy was an amazing server and walked the table through the suggested ordering cadence and top courses on the menu extremely well! The grass fed ribeye was good, but could’ve used a bit more seasoning to kick up the flavor. The crispy Brussels sprouts were my favorite side, the spicy rigatoni had a nice kick to it, and the cocktails were pretty good. Overall 9/10.

My wife and I are moving to Chicago and were in search of a new date night spot. Gibsons Italia delivered in spades. Gibsons has gorgeous views of the river and some of Chicago's most iconic buildings. The food was fantastic, service was fast and elegant, the cocktails were great, and the desserts were tremendously good especially when paired with their selection of dessert wines. They seem to be very well suited to accommodate parties of all sizes and offer surprises for celebratory occasions. It did get extremely busy and loud though -- and we did feel a touch pressured to order more food than we needed. Regardless, we had a wonderful time celebrating our first year wedding anniversary dinner at Gibsons Italia. We look forward to coming back again next year.

Came to visit Chicago from Houston for my friend's birthday and she said she would coming back here for dinner. The atmosphere here was amazing, we sat on the 3rd floor I believe which looks over the river. All of the food I ordered were based off of other people’s recommendations online and they did not let down at all. Walked out of the restaurant very satisfied and happy.

Stopped by around 6 pm for an early valentine's dinner with the fiance. Was crowded and loud, but thinned out relatively quickly. We were well tended to, and our food (new york strip for me and salmon for my fiance) was perfect. I asked for a window table on my reservation, and they accommodated with a perfect view of the city skyline. All in all was a pleasant experience, and I would come here again.

We dined at this location on Saturday, January 31st What an exceptional experience. Everyone from the front staff checking us in, to the coat check person, to the waitstaff - AMAZING! The food was wonderful. We each had something different and just so so so good. We travel frequently to Italy and not everyone can make Cacio e Pepe, this did not disappoint. The waitstaff was efficient, professional, fun and we had such a good time there. Every time we are in Chicago..we will make sure we pay Gibson’s Italia a visit. Cheers!

Amazing ambiance and river view - the standout to me was the baked potato. So rich, good crust, and absorbed flavor so well. The spicy rigatoni pasta had good flavor, but it was a little chewier than I’d expect. I liked the steak, but wasn’t overly impressed and I prefer Bavettes. Some compound better would’ve elevated it further. I think this is a great meal, certainly expensive but excellent for business meals.

I visited Gibsons Italia in Chicago and loved the stunning riverfront views and modern, bright three-story dining space with retractable roof. Their steaks—especially the USDA-certified Angus New York Strip and ribeyes—were perfectly cooked, juicy, and truly the highlight, though many Italian dishes (like arancini and veal Milanese) were disappointingly bland or dry. Appetizers like the meatballs and charred octopus were flavorful and creative, but a few pasta dishes lacked seasoning or felt uninspired. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and upscale—but I’d skip most of the Italian menu and go straight for the steak if you're here to eat well.

The steaks were cooked to perfection—rich, juicy, and full of flavor—and the appetizers like burrata and charred octopus were a delight. My boyfriend and I dined at Gibsons the other night to celebrate his birthday, and overall it was a great experience. We were seated quickly and brought to a cute table on the third floor with a beautiful view, which made the night feel extra special. The food was delicious we ordered the artichokes, Chicago cut steak, and fries, and everything was cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Thank you!! What I really want to highlight, though, is one of the hostesses, Monica (yes, I asked for her name because she made such an impression) From the moment she took us to our table, she was incredibly kind and welcoming. She even took my drink and pulled out my chair for me, which made me feel like absolute royalty. When we asked for menu recommendations, she was confident and clearly knew what she was talking about. The reason I’m writing this review is because later in the evening, when I went to the ladies’ room, I noticed Monica taking out the trash and still doing it with a smile on her face. I was honestly a bit surprised, especially since my boyfriend mentioned there was a porter in the men’s bathroom. I think Gibsons could do a better job of supporting their staff so hosts aren’t juggling tasks like this. For that reason alone, I’m giving four stars instead of five. That said, the service, food, and overall experience were wonderful, and I would absolutely recommend dining here.

On 02/14/2026, my partner and I had a 9:00 PM reservation to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated closer to 10:00 PM, which we completely understood given how busy the restaurant was that evening no issue there.Once seated, our waitress was attentive, welcoming, and kind. We truly appreciated her service.However, what deeply disappointed me was the behavior of who appeared to be a manager. While we were waiting, we noticed him checking on the table behind us, asking if they had been helped or needed anything. He then skipped our table entirely and proceeded to check on the table in front of us. He continued checking on other tables including tables that had just been seated!! Yet never once acknowledged ours. At that moment, I felt completely overlooked and profiled. Watching him make his rounds to other guests Americans, Asians, and African Americans while intentionally bypassing our table was extremely upsetting. It made me feel invisible and disrespected.I want to be clear!! I am a proud Latina, and no guest should ever feel excluded or treated differently in a place where they are spending their hard earned money, especially on a special occasion. We came to celebrate love. Instead, I left feeling disappointed.I hope this is addressed, as no one should walk away from your establishment feeling the way I did!
