The service was exceptional. The tea, sparkling juice (because I don't drink alcohol), and food was delicious. And the space was beautiful. My friends and I had a lovely time. I'll definitely be back and recommend it to other friends.
It was a very pleasant place for afternoon tea. I loved the harpist. Did not feel rushed. Perfect way to have quality time with friends.
Did the Alice in Wonderland high tea and it was very lovely. Since it was a preset and prepaid menu, didn't know we could just get up and go when we were done. We hung out there a little bit and wasn't rushed out of our table. The food and pastries were some of the best for high tea I have had.
What a wonderful Alice in the Wonderland afternoon tea at the Pavilion in the Langham Hotel! Beautiful place for a nice getaway and birthday celebration! The staffs were very friendly; they always came to check and refilled beverages. They even surprised us with a birthday cupcake! The dessert were beautifully crafted and uniquely delicious! If you want a luxury high tea experience, this is the place!
The Pavilion is beautiful. Being at the Pavilion for High Tea is an amazing holiday experience. However, Ray our server made the experience. He brought rays of sunshine with evey word, gesture and smile. I never expected to laugh so much during tea but we did. This was my 1st High Tea but it won't be my last. and I had no clue what to expect. I agreed to go bc an older friend really wanted to have the experience. Then a few days before our reservation, my friend was not feeling well and could not attend. Having High Tea did not sound like fun and I didn't want to go alone. So I BEGGED my husband to go with me. Both of us enjoyed the food, the nutcracker tea and of course our customer experience with Ray and everyone who came to our table. Now it's my new holiday tradition. Thank you Ray and staff Thank you The Pavillion Thank you Langham Hotel
The Langham's Pavilion Paddington Bear-themed high tea was a delight from start to finish. The tea room's decorations and attention to detail transported us into the world of Paddington. The tea selection was extensive, served in elegant china, and accompanied by knowledgeable staff, Kathy and Fawn were amazing from start to finish! The delectable assortment of treats, from savory sandwiches to adorable Paddington-shaped cakes, were both visually stunning and bursting with flavor. The exceptional service, including a surprise birthday cake for my wife, made this experience truly memorable. I highly recommend this high tea for an unforgettable celebration.
Completely amazing Holiday Tea experience. Gracious and attentive service Modern, but warm furnishings. Would definitely visit the Pavilion at The Langham again.
Our server did an amazing job taking us through the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory afternoon tea experience. We had a lovely time.
Best French toast I ever had.
a beautiful tea service in Chicago.
My first High Tea. Very interesting and enjoyable, especially during the holiday season.
Awesome experience great waiter amazing music
The staff and food excellent
We've been here for the afternoon tea several times and the food and service is always top notch. Plus they accommodate dietary restrictions.
This was absolutely fabulous, they were so accommodating to my dietary restrictions (vegan) I WILL BE BACK. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS AND THE SERVICE WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😁😁😁😁
Great service, and the tea was so satisfying. A few more savory options would have been nice but the selection was delicious.
My mom and I absolutely loved our high tea at the Langham! The eggnog cream puff was the best dessert I’ve ever had. Everything was so cute. And the excellent service from Hailey was wonderful—she was so sweet and really made our experience so fun. This will be our new holiday tradition!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Wicked‑themed afternoon tea at The Langham Pavilion. The theme and presentation were outstanding, but what truly made the experience exceptional was our server, Deair. She was attentive, professional, and took the time to explain each element of the service from start to finish. Her pride in her work and genuine care for guests were evident throughout our visit. Deair is an outstanding ambassador for The Langham — you are fortunate to have her on your team.
Afternoon tea at The Langham was already something I was looking forward to, but it was the server Liah who made it truly unforgettable. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel completely at home with her warm, welcoming presence and natural conversation. She guided me through the service with thoughtful recommendations and a genuine kindness that made the entire experience feel personal and special. Her attention to detail, grace, and ability to connect elevated every aspect of the visit. I left feeling not only well cared for, but genuinely uplifted by the interaction. She is a true gem and a shining example of hospitality at its fines all deserving of both recognition and praise.
Absolutely the best experience! I have had tea all over the world and this was special and delightful. The food was incredible and I really appreciated the Langhan's twist on afternoon tea. My twin sister and I were there celebrating our birthday with our girls! So much fun!
Went there for a tea brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. Beautiful but yet cozy spot. The little bites and pastries were almost too pretty to eat! The savory options were yummy and creative, but there was barely enough savory options. 80% of the items were sweets of some sort, wish it was more a 50/50 between sweets and savory. Service was pretty slow, but very friendly. Great occasion for pretty pictures!
Paddington Bear High Tea at the Pavilion is an experience that brought me back to childhood in the best way. After a rocky start, with a quite rude encounter from the host including forgetting to provide me the menu once I was able to be seated, the rest of my experience was quite lovely. Paddington was one of my favourite stories from childhood so the high tea was a wonderful way to reconnect with that nostalgia. The creative and beautiful presentation of the food, especially the cheese course, Peru to London, was delightful. The incorporation of the elements from the Paddington story into the food was really nice to see and enjoy.
We had afternoon tea at Pavilion at The Langham over Christmas, and it was overall a fun experience. Lots of variety of food and bites, lots of selection for teas, and most of it tasted really great. I’d say the critical note was maybe that it was expensive for what we got, and that all the food was fairly heavy, so there was no real relief in the form of something fresh or light.
Awesome tea with cute sweet and savory bites!
Great service and environment, teas are amazing.
Was looking forward to afternoon tea at the Langham. The ambiance and service were wonderful, the tea selection was amazing, (even though one of the teas was called the Palm Court which is where the Drake hotel serves tea) as were the scones, but the sweets and savories were a bit too fussy. Each one was a work of art - especially the Mad Hatter chou pastry —but by making them all exotic and complicated none of them stood out as special. Also the savory sandwich with melted cheese on top was very hard to cut. Overall, however, it was a wonderful afternoon.
I have always loved tea at The Langham and have come here for years. The food has always been and is exceptional! This year, the hotel made changes to the room and replaced intimate seating arrangements with large white laminate looking tables to accommodate bigger parties. We were a party of 5 seated at a table for 8. So we were seated a distance apart across the table from one another and it was awkward. In years past, I would stake my reputation on the service. Normally seamless. While our sever was very friendly and accommodating, the flow of service was spotty. We waited a long time between savory and scones. The person who refilled my teapot with water filled it so high that water overflowed out the spout. No one noticed that water was overflowing onto the table. I will definitely go back because I know this is not the normal Langham exoerience. I am only sharing this so that if the team is monitoring reviews, they take note. Again, the food and sweets are the BEST in town. The room decor is lovely and the harp music is beautiful.
Cute place to go for tea time and to feel a little fancy. We started with a glass of mediocre champagne, then moved into the sandwiches, which were also middle of the road and relied heavily on mayo/ cream. The desserts and petit fours were also okay, a bit sweeter than I expected. We were allowed one pot of tea each and ended up getting a third to split. The atmosphere was quiet, relaxing and perfect for catching up with friends. Our server was helpful and attentive. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with so-so food. I'd come back here again if a friend really wanted to go, but I probably would not initiate a visit on my own
Service was pretty poor. Super slow and inattentive. Tasty snacks though. Tea were decent.
We went for the holiday tea. It was very pretty, but I’d say overpriced for what you get. You pay and tip in advance so after the last course was described we didn’t see our waiter again. We left without ever seeing them again. The desserts were so pretty but a bit too sweet. Loved the scones and jelly. The savory course was okay and the tea itself, very yummy. All in all, I was disappointed and wouldn’t return.
The teas were good. Too many sweet items. We ask for more savory item but would not give them to us, yet they let us try a differenttea. My daughter got the kids tea/food, but it was not very good so I had to switch with her. They sat us 4 at a very cramped small table, yet there were other 3 person party at a roomy long table. My niece had to stop at another restaurant on the way to a show since the food samples were not the most filling for the $$$.
We’ve been to tea all over the world and this is, by far, the most expensive and underwhelming experience we’ve ever had. While the tea service is “themed,” the presentation is a bit of a stretch. Aside from the green elixir, one green sandwich, and the dessert items, the theme feels like an afterthought. There is no themed decor in the space and the food items come across as renamed versions of standard tea items. That said, the macaroon is absolutely delicious. The harpist was a nice touch but she went on break three times during our 90 minute tea time and we were left with silence between performances. The Moet add on at booking is a great value. This makes the cost $140 per person plus taxes and a 20% service/gratuity charge. Please note that all a la carte purchases will also incur an additional 20% service/gratuity fee. This includes adding additional beverages to your experience. The tea service is coursed out for you. Items are brought as you finish the latest course. The server was very attentive in monitoring our pacing but we would have liked more control over our dining experience. The tea service does not include a replenishment of any food or tea items. This means that you are limited to four tea sandwiches, two scones, and four desserts. This has not been our experience elsewhere, including in Chicago. Our total for two was $380 plus $85 for additional champagne. It was not money well spent.
Went to the new Wonka Tea themed event with a girlfriend of mine this Sunday. The food was dry, unrefined, and just not quite there. The chocolate treats were okay. Some better than others. It was underwhelming for the money to say the least. They seemed very excited about their tomato basil shooter, it was like taking a shot of straight olive oil. I wouldn’t recommend spending your money on this experience.
I have an annual Christmas Tea tradition with my daughters and daughter-in-law every year and this year we decided to go to the Langham after many years at the Drake. Unfortunately we regret this change of venue as it was a complete disappointment. We had to wait over 25 minutes to get seated after our reservation time and then another 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. After ordering our tea we waited another 25 minutes. By this point we were thirsty and hungry. The server brought a "Santa" letter that was edible rice paper with white chocolate. The concept was cute but the edible part not good at all. After another long period of time we received our tea sandwiches which were pretty bad but we ate them because we needed something in our stomaches. (At the Drake, they bring these on a tea tray and basically refill them if you would like more) The Langham never used the tea tray that was sitting on the table. We then waited and they brought a version of "santa's milk and cookies" which was white hot chocolate and dark chocolate cookies. These were both absolutely terrible. We didnt want these sweets yet as we were looking forward to the scones that literraly came 45 minutes later after I asked for them. They only brought three and there were 4 of us and they forgot to bring the butter, cream and jam so we had to ask for that. When they brought the rest of the scones they also brought the dessert at the same time which by now we were perfectly fine with. While we were waiting for all of this we kept trying to get our tea warmed up with hot water which we finally got at the very end of our meal. We drank cold tea during most of the tea time. The desserts were pretty but we took one bite of each of them and literally could not continue as they were so bad. This was a very expensive day out and one that I am very sad to say I would not recommend. Management was not responsive nor did they seem to care. We will not be back. The Drake may be getting a little old but they do an amazing job with their tea service and I would recommend them all day long!
Good afternoon tea but disappointing service. Took my mom here for her birthday and server barely came and checked in on us, food was very delayed and far too spaced out. At the end we waited 40 minutes not sure if there was more left, server didn't even come to tell us we were done and was no where to be found. Considering the fact you pay top dollar for overpriced tea I would expect better service.
Went with out of town friends for what we expected to be a magical Christmas afternoon tea. The service was terrible and the overall experience was so disappointing. For the money, I definitely would not recommend.
Worst afternoon tea experience. I prepaid for two people which cost $250 total. Arrived 10 minutes early and stood waiting for a while until the wait staff noticed us looking over at them. Was seated and told that our waiter would be right with us. 15 minutes after our reservation time and finally he comes to our table. The tea I got was Earl grey, which didn’t have much of an aroma or flavor. First plate is savory and everything is stale like it has been sitting out since that morning. Bread is tough and chewy and toppings are dry. Flavor is ok. Then the scones and sweets come out. Both scones taste the same but just different shape. Not very buttery but just dry and crumbly. Sweets are pretty but one of them is partially missing the cream and decorations. Server apologizes casually and brings another one out. Overall the quality of the food is very poor and kind of tasted cheap and generic. The only nice thing I can say is that the place was beautiful with live piano playing but not worth spending over $120. So disappointed.
The food was so disgusting, I had to literally force myself to eat it.
After being seated 45 minutes late, the meal was rushed to the point where they had turned the lights off and were cleaning before we were finished.
Honestly one of the worst experiences. Spent 500+ on a horrible time. Won’t be going back.
One bland expensive tea!
The presentation was nice but the service was very slow. We received our tea after waiting 45 mins and didn't get our last plate until the 3 hour mark. They may have been short staffed because as people left, none of the tables were cleaned which made the room look dirty and unkempt. The tea was good though we never we offered more hot water. The sandwiches and pastries weren't very good. Generally, all the pastries were dry and hard (one piece of bread was too tough to chew through). A couple of the items were good but there were a lot of odd flavor profiles that just didn't work. For the price ($270 for 2 plus $50 service charge) I was very disappointed.
Our family came here for the holidays high tea per recommendation from a friend who had been here before and was thoroughly disappointed. From their website we were expecting live music and festive vibe for the tea. It was $130/person + tax and gratuity. For how much they charge, we were looking forward to a nice high end tea experience. To our disappointment, our server were tired and had no interest in really explaining to us the tea or the menu. He rushed us through picking out the tea with somewhat of an attitude. Throughout the entire time we were there, he was difficult to find. We had to look for him multiple times just to get a refill of water. Then come the food. It was terrible as well. The scones were dry and brittle like they have been sitting out for days. There were only 4 tiny savory bites of something else which was maybe the highlight of the experience but not really. No live music like mentioned on the website, not even background music. I asked the server where is the live music, he was confused and reluctant, then he told me there is a piano guy who is not here. Why would you charge a holiday price, advertising holidays festive experience then not pay enough for your staffs to properly give the guests the experience . Overall a terrible experience and most of all disappointing that I spent the time organizing a holidays event for my family just to leave there frustrated and feeling like I was cheated and ripped off by this place.
Our afternoon Tea at The Langham was a disappointment. While the food was tasty, the service was definitely not up to the standards you would expect at such a great property. We waited a very long time for a server initially, my coffee was luke warm and part of our menu was forgotten. Plates and utensils were never cleared and our server never checked in to see if we needed anything. A refill of our tea and coffee required us to flag down a passing server. On to a more enjoyable experience elsewhere!
Not worth the money or time; I will be going to The Drake or elsewhere and suggest you do the same. Went for afternoon tea and the worst experience I've had in the city so far. We waited 15 min alone at the host stand for anyone to even seat us. Sat for another 30 min alone before server stopped by, and then another 15 before we were served. I've yet to go to an afternoon tea anywhere else that was not exceptionally attentive. We sat and saw our server once. I did not get a single tea refill, or the option to order any additional wine.
Inattentive service, poor portion sizes, no refills of any form offered, and an atrocious value. Would not recommend at all
We received a gift certificate for tea at the Langham. Sadly, we can't use it because we can't make a reservation. We've left several email messages and phone messages to contact us so we could make a reservations. No one ever called back. We received one email response that asked for the time and date we wanted. We replied with some dates and times. That was weeks ago, and we never heard back. We don't know who is managing this place, but it is awful. We feel so bad that someone paid for this gift certificate and we can't even use it.
Unattentive staff, not fresh food. Told them via tock days before the rev my friend was vegan...everything had cheese on it. Glass of wine on the menu was $30, charged us $35 for it...will never go back
We were there yesterday for a friends birthday. $700 for four people. The four bites of sandwiches they give you was bland. The scones were so hard with premade cream and jelly. Service was slow . They charge you gratuity when you make a reservation so the service is sub par. Absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone. Please save your money as the experience will make you sick. One of the worst high tea experiences ever.
