We experienced a room service breakfast at the Palm through our hotel. We love the food! Pricey, which includes room service and delivery fee, but worth it! Must try when you stay at the Swissotel. ❤️
Honestly was a pretty good meal. I would go as far as to say that this place is a bit underrated. Steak was properly cooked and the creamed spinach was very good. Lobster ravioli had a great spiciness to it, and our waiter was very professional. Recommended.
This restaurant stands out, located in the lobby of the Swiss Hotel. It serves delicious food. I had veal chops, which were juicy and savory. The server and bartender are so accommodating. They always ask what we need and refill our drinks. Great service.
Such a lovely upscale spot just off Michigan Avenue! The salmon was perfectly cooked and full of fresh flavor, and the dessert was absolutely delicious. Everything was beautifully presented with generous portions. The only thing that didn’t quite stand out was the lobster bisque, but overall, it was a wonderful place to relax over lunch or enjoy a drink during happy hour.
We arrive 10 minutes before they closed for beakfast and our waiter Felipe could not have been nicer and gracious in spite our late arrival. Breakfast was delicious and i especially enjoyed the fruit plate with perfectly ripe fruits. The bacon was a little saltier than we are used to. A good experience overall with excellent service from Felipe.
We went in with minimum expectations presumably for an in-house diner, but we were very pleasantly surprised! Excellent service, demeanor and ambience punctuated with fusion images of long-time patrons and frequent-flyers all over the walls! The bar topshelf is worthy and seating, while public, still has personal space! The portions are quite substantial and you will never go back dissatisfied! Overall a great experience and we would dine here again !
We found one more gem in Chicago downtown. Palm is a suspicious name, LOL. There's so many kinds of palm trees and this is one of the best. They've Hearts of Palm Salad, which caught my attention. It's rare! Having that in any salad proof their concept in cuisine. Every meal had a great flavor, but the shocking was the great service. It's what I evaluate most in any restaurant I've been. 6 starts service. I hardly recommend you to visit.
Great place inside the Swissotel for lunch or dinner. We had lunch here before heading back to the airport. We had a nice tuna salad and Cobb salad here, and coffees. For the dessert we shared a huge piece of carrot cake with raisins and icing.
A good upscale spot east of Michigan Avenue. Salmon was fresh and dessert was quite good. The only item that was disappointing was lobster bisque. Good presentations and hearty portions. A perfect to place to a leisurely lunch or enjoy drinks during happy hour.
The Palm is one of the best restaurants in Chicago serving refined food and amazing cocktails in a wonderful atmosphere. Excellent Service. Rino Siconolfi Instagram rino_siconolfi
Had a spectacular dinner here with colleagues. The service was exceptional, our waitress was funny and attentive. The starters were awesome - Calamari Fritto misto, lump crab cake (this was just lovely), fresh buffalo mozzarella with seasonal toppings, prime New York strip steak and jumbo shrimp over mushrooms cooked to perfection. We made a reservation as it's busy.
Was down just a couple weeks ago for an International Convention and it was such a great decision to dine-in. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. Our group was coming in from Toronto and our server was eager to give us recommendations on food and complimenting beverages. Would highly recommend if you’re visiting. Also wanted to note that the hash browns were extremely good and are shareable for 3-4 guests. That surprised me the most because we don’t have anything like that over in hockey-land.
A posher place to eat. Big food portions and lots of choice. Lovely attentive staff
Amazing! We sat at the bar and was accommodated by the nicest bartender! He was so attentive and friendly which made our experience a memorable one. As the service can’t get any better, we were greeted by Victor, one of the managers. He made sure that we were taken care of and even had a surprise for my partners birthday! Other managers also made their rounds to make sure everything is great! Thank you again for a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back and will tell our friends of this great experience!
Amazing Breakfast, classy ambiance, friendly and courteous staff. Little pricey. Located inside the Swissotel. The breakfast menu was simple & crisp. The options were minimum but had everything we need. They do modify to make it Vegetarian / Eggeterian. They had the standard juice options and coffee. I got the coffee - say medium roast and fresh. Veggie omelette- (took out the meet) very good and flavorful. The hash browns was a unique cut and crispy.. perfect loved it. We also got. The pancake. Came with a huge bowl of berries and it tasted awesome too. Especially the crisp. Now the French toast was little but too sweet. May be good as a desert. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The ambiance was upscale and nicely decorated, we enjoyed celebrity cartoon decals on the was. So I would definitely recommend this place, please mind the price is bit on the high side. And parking is more expensive than the food (typical Chicago) 😜
Wonderful service team. They are willing to work with customers for the best fits …sharing all dishes!! Great suggestion and selection of dishes too. Convenience location and not too crowded for an enjoyable evening. 😘
It’s restaurant week time and my husband and I tried this lovely place. Hostess was VERY polite and courteous. Our waiter Tomas INCREDIBLE very knowledgeable, funny, attentive, has great views of the menu and you can tell he enjoys his job. The food I had The Palm Caesar, Shrimp Sauté, Garlic green beans, garlic mash potatoes and for desert I had The Palm Zeppoles and the Junior’s cheesecake. (my husband had the 8 oz filet w/ Brandy peppercorn that he said was delicious) The Palm has a life supply of wine as well, you can’t go wrong. We will be back!
Excellent service and totally professional. The wait staff here is 5 star. The eggs Benedict is my go to morning breakfast and it was well prepared and tasted perfect! I highly recommend this restaurant for a special time.
Breakfast review: phenomenal food. Their cappuccino was amazing, they had kid-friendly options, breakfast options were great, and service was attentive. If you are staying in the area, this is worth a stop
Love the Palm. The food is really delicious. I had the Veal Parmesan. It was cooked to perfection. The staff are professional but fun to be around. I love the music they play. My only complaint was the tiramisu was mostly whipped cream.
Excellent meal, we ordered the $29 three course lunch. The pasta was so good it still tasted fresh when I ate my wife's leftovers hours later, cold. The Lobster bisque was served in a unique fashion & my chicken parm was delicious.
Fabulous in every regard. Luis was phenomenal, attentive, knowledgeable very pleasant. The rest of the staff that worked on our table were also swift and attentive. If you just looked up they saw you, and got what you needed. HIGHLY recommend.
Excellent place for dinner! We started off with the crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, and shrimp bruno which were all fantastic and moved on to the entrees! I ordered the steakhouse wedge which was to die for and the oyster platter which was also amazing! My friends got the sea bass, chicken parm, and we all split the mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and broccolini where all the sides are shareables which was very nice! It was all very pricey, but it was a great night and my friends all said the drinks were amazing as well so everything was worth it!
Being a restaurant attached to a hotel, I didn't have great expectations, but I can definitely say I was blown away by The Palm! I was sitting at a high top in the bar area. Despite the bar being very busy, Mike and Nikki took excellent care of me - they very quickly got my order and had my drink in my hands. Even with all the other chaos, they had my food out to me fast and checked on me a couple of times to make sure I didn't need anything else. The drinks were expertly crafted, the food was beyond delicious, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth checking out if you're at the Swissotel or surrounding area!
Haven't been to The Palm in a while. The renovations they have made look great. The menu is fantastic. Food amazing. I will be back again soon. Server Mike was on point!!
Delicious steak and prime rib. A la carte asparagus, wedge salad, and mashed potatoes exceeded expectations. Great, friendly service.
Great dinner and they were able to accommodate an extra person for me on short notice. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Everyone in our party of 7 had a wonderful time and enjoyed their food. Will definitely go back.
Ask for Mike, he’s the real deal with the best customer service & GREAT steak. Fantastic service, true Chicago vibe and great drinks. We had a booth in the restaurant, was fantastic. 10/10.
Alondra and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and nice and caring. I love the great customer service here. I will be coming back here especially for the fries
We visited The Palm during Restaurant Week 26, Jamie was our server. The food was exceptional, seasoned well and generous portions. Our server was very attentive, her timing was awesome. As we finished our bread, the appetizers were brought, and she recognized when we may want another drink. Excellent experience, definitely will return.
Excellent food and exceptional service. The Palm Restaurant offers one of the best dining experiences in Chicago. The service is simply the best I’ve experienced in the city. Everyone is attentive, professional, and welcoming. Highly recommended.
We love the palm and are very thankful the amazing wait staff. They are attentive and always remember us. Mauricio and his father are next level with service! The burger is fabulous! A must try!
The steak here is honestly some of the best I’ve had in Chicago, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The service was attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. The only downside was that it felt a bit noisy during peak hours, so it might not be the best spot if you’re looking for a quiet dinner. Overall, still a fantastic place for a special night out.
I just love the poem! It has been a tradition of ours for 35 years. When we attend the traditional magnificent Mile holiday kickoff in Chicago! It started out a long time ago as part of a board of education obligation, but we have since made it just a wonderful tradition for our family. How lovely all the transitions have been and still the service and food is extraordinary! Yay!
Delicious food, especially dessert. Very attentive staff. Swanky enough for extravagant dinner but relaxed enough for a birthday meal with a family.
Did one order from restaurant week menu. It was the minestrone soup and prime rib chopped salad. It was very good but super garlicky. We had one "power lunch" which was a Caesar's salad and one 6oz fillet with wine reduction sauce on the side and came with steamed green beans. It was great but the Caesar's salad was pretty small. Cheesecake was FABULOUS!
Arrived late at the Swissotel, and was pleased to see The Palm still open and serving food for weary travelers. The bartenders were friendly and welcoming, and I ordered a chicken avocado sandwich from the bar for $18. The sandwich and fries were tasty, and a decent late night snack.
This place is good not great. The menu is definitely on the small side, and it’s definitely unique. I really like the atmosphere here and it’s super convenient being in the Swissotel and easily accessible via the Pedway. Overall, no complaints!
Lets start off with they charge for refills via there small glass..Now lets get started on my experience. The service was good with no issues at all and the food wasn’t anything amazing. The price doesn’t reflect the average taste and the average restaurant inside of a hotel experience. I personally think this place is much to expensive for what you get and I feel like you can have a better experience & flavors elsewhere such as Gibson Italia or steak 48 which both are way better then this place in every way possible and these places wont be petty enough to charge you for a refill.
Drinks are good, limited menu and it's inside the Swissotel so it's no real atmosphere and music. Definitely for the much older crowd. I wouldn't recommend going unless you're looking for a drink. It's weird these establishments cater to only older, stiff crowds. When it's more people who are in there 30s and 40s that go out way more that also likes to eat good, enjoy updated music and updated menus.
My husband and I love The Palm! For years we were annual diners at the Flagship Restaurant at "837" in Manhattan, and even after on the West Side/Midtown location when the Flagship closed. We also frequently dine at The Las Vegas In Caesar's Forum and it is a favorite of our as were the Beverly Hills and LA locations when they were open. So on our first trip to Chicago we were thrilled to know there was a Palm there. Unfortunately there were a few disappointing parts of the meal and I feel obligated to mention/warn other diners as it is the first time ever we have not had 5-Star plus experiences at all the other sites. I had the GiGi Salad, which was delicious as usual, and, while I usually order a whole lobster and share with my husband, he wanted Chicken Parm so I was left with only an option to order the lone Lobster Tail to get my "lobster fix"! First time I've ever ordered anything but a whole lobster at any location and I will never again order the lobster tail only as I won't risk it being as awful as this one was. Dry, tasteless, tough to get off the shell and I wasn't given any special utensils other than fork and butter knife to try and deal with it. I finally was able to request a sharp knife but still difficult. On a scale of 1-10 it was a low "1"! My husband and one of our guests had Chicken Parm which was huge and both said very tasty. However, the pasta served with it was cold enough to call room temperature if not refrigerated. Not good at all. Our other guest ordered the Wedge and an order of "Half and Half" to share. My husband and I always enjoy the Half/Half and know what it should be. It was the poorest representation of onion strings we have ever been served. The pieces should have been kept in the kitchen as the breading/tempura was soft, not crisp or warm and falling off the onion pieces themselves - not the crisp and tasty onion strings we are used to. The order was very small by comparison to what we are used to getting and we only found 6 of the Potato Chips under the mushy onion strings - also not warm or tasty. Our server, "Tincho" was a really nice man but we had to wait for water refills; we asked for more bread and he noticed the pretzel bread was still in the basket. He pointed to it and we said we did not like it and would instead like the other breads they have. When he finally got back with the basket, it contained only pretzel bread - which pretty much sums up our experience. Not good and I think I'm being generous for a "3"!
Did not want to dampen entertaining out-of-town guests, but we paid nearly $400 for a dinner for four, and sides never should have been plated or served. “Wild mushrooms” were merely a heap of button mushrooms, and I couldn’t even taste a balsamic presence. Hash browns were burnt and so salty they were inedible. Two Wagyu steaks and clam dish were properly prepared. Tiramisu was largely whipped cream. We took much home, only to find one of the two steaks missing (half of each were left over) and pasta side and Parmesan missing. Waiter was exemplary and gregarious. Not crowded. By far, worst fine dining meal we’ve ever had. And, even a few days later, that is why I post this review.
Years ago this place was THE. BOMB. The past 4 or 5 times in Chicago, I’ve been to the palm and unfortunately, it’s a desperate try to compete. The lunch at the bar is quite lovely. The dinner is a joke, ICE cold 12oz. $70 Filet Mignon, served as dinner was the clincher for me personally. I even had the waiter touch, his reaction was PRICELESS due to the fact, it was ICE COLD as in straight out of the refrigerator. My dinner companion had the Sea Bass, so much salt in the sauce it was 100% uneatable. Avoid the Palm, it’s not what it was and it’s not getting any better. Morton’s down the street holds its own, if you’re looking for an “ old school” midwestern steak, it’s better and they usually get it right.
Massive servings. Enough to take home for a week. Severely expensive, given the quality of the food. They have a long wine list but are out of several wines. Caesar salad was very poor. The lettuce was even wilted. The dressing was not even close to Caesar. The carrot cake dessert was very poor frosting was not cream cheese and the spices were too weak on cinnamon. The espresso was excellent. Swissotel can do far better than the palm.
I have been to the Palm at many locations and always had a positive experience. Unfortunately, my visit this past weekend was not the best. Our server Cierra was fantastic. She gave us prompt and friendly service. She noticed that my son was battling a cough and provided him a cough drop, which was greatly appreciated. The issue was with another server waiting on the booth next to us. She engaged in a conversation with her party that turned into loud, profane political rant. This displayed a complete lack of awareness and training that one should expect from an establishment like the Palm. I had my 8 year old son with me who heard words that he had never heard before. The restaurant was mostly empty so her outburst was clear for everyone to hear. I didn't complain on site because my son and I were exhausted and I didn't want him to endure more than what we already experienced.
Sucks to post a poor review, but considering what I paid and what I got, it was super disappointing. To start with, I was alone so sat at the bar. It was busy, but not over-busy. One of the two bartenders was upset about something and vocal enough for me and other guests to hear it, and she proceeded to have a poor attitude, upset face, and wasn't just dry, but, honestly, short and unwelcoming. The other bartender was nice, but busy, and at least checked on me a couple times. Secondly, I went with the Waygu lasagna- which wasn't really a lasagna but something like it, but had next to no meat. It was disappointing. I get it's a steakhouse and all, but pretty surprised at the cost for something I wouldn't call more than mediocre. Edible, just nothing even close to great. Ambience was OK, a bit bright on the side I was on, and was kinda bummed they either didn't check to put the Thursday night football game on, or for some reason couldn't. So I waited there for quite a while, food came, I ate it, and left. I don't think 1 person said 1 thing to me after getting my check, paying, and leaving. Overall lame experience, so I won't be back.
OMGeeeeezzzzus! The worst salads I’ve ever had in my life. If my 4 yo niece or nephew made me this salad, I’d be so proud of them, yet at an establishment such as this one, I expected way more for this price point. The steak was fatty, I sent it back, the shrimp salad was cut up shrimp from shrimp cocktail, the “house vinaigrette” was so bland you could swear you had Covid with no tastebuds. Our pepper grinder was given to us empty so we had to grab one from a table. (We sat at the bar = it was not busy) The bartender was kind, the atmosphere is great, yet I will definitely only order cocktails from here upon my return.
My wife and I came here because we were staying at the Swissotel and it was overly convenient with us being tired from work + travel. As we sat at the bar and reviewed our options, we realized the minimal options. I ordered a salmon meal and my wife ordered the lobster bisque. My salmon was raw in the middle and I could eat about 1/3 of it. Crazy considering it was $44! My lobster risotto had parts that were hard and it didn’t seem like it cooked evenly throughout. The lobster bisque was incredibly runny and honestly did not look appetizing at all. Our drinks were good, but I cannot recommend this place for an actual meal based off this experience. The price for what we received was extremely subpar and not worth the $$ we paid.
Very rude . Hesitant to seat me . Asked for tea waitress just dropped a box with a selection on top of my silverware and said " have at it " . My wife showed up and immediately noticed the rudeness , and it seemed eye contact and waving to get an attention to order was very difficult . We knew it was busy but not that busy as there were several empty tables and the bar was not full . We noticed the other customers we repeatedly asked " is everything ok ? ". Our table was in a semicircle booth middle placement of the other 3 booths . 40 minutes passed and finally a waitress shows up and said thank you for eating here and grabs my silverware from the mouth side as she was attempting to clear our table then my wife informs her that we haven't even ordered yet . She then releases my silverware about 6 inches height and drops it . She then takes our order then immediately leaves I pick up my silverware go to the other waitress and ask if I can have another after explaining what had happened . I'll get you another set she says . So I sit and my wife notices two other parties are already receiving their meals . An hour has passed I get up to inform the tall blonde waitress we are leaving , waitress says we can take our meal for free , I said no thank you and we went to get a sandwich . Awful , awful , awful people . A note I am pacific islander , my wife is Japanese . Didn't want to pull the race card but we were just so greatly disappointed .
The servers themselves were very nice, I want to be clear. But $40 for two beers and a soup is outrageous, not to mention my actual dinner not showing up after 50 minutes. When I cancelled there was no effort to stop me or "please wait one more minute" both servers gave me different stories as to WHY my meal didn't arrive. I don't know, but for the price I wouldn't expect a total miss of my meal.
