Amazing place to eat the service is amazing. The menu offers a wide variety of options. The food, drinks are absolutely incredible. Everyone's who works here are very nice and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Delicious stir fry and parang curry. The Thai iced tea is addictive so beware! Well definitely return for more of this authentically prepared Thai food and happy service!
I really loved the atmosphere and the Thai food was amazing.
Stopped by this afternoon. Tom Yum was delicious & loved the Thai walking tour that was playing.
Star of Siam is one of the best Thai restaurants in Downtown Chicago! The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and the service is always warm and welcoming. The Pad Thai and curry dishes are must-tries — so fresh and full of flavor. What makes the location even better is that it’s close to Premier Nails – Nail Salon Downtown Chicago. I treated myself to a relaxing manicure and pedicure at Premier Nails before dinner here, and it turned into the perfect night out. Highly recommend this spot for delicious Thai food, and pairing it with a self-care stop at Premier Nails for the ultimate Chicago experience!
I had an amazing experience at Star of Siam! The red snapper was absolutely delicious—crispy, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. The appetizers were amazing, and my piña colada was refreshing and perfectly made. Our whole table loved the food and drinks, and the staff was so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!
Such a great experience to come and enjoy meals here. Actually I just looking for an asian restaurant with no pork in the menu, and I found this place. After Ied-Fitr Salah, we come and was surprised that there is a HALAL’s logo in front of the restaurant 🥹🥹 Since I feel a bit difficult to find a Halal restaurant, I am so happy to find this place. A cozy-elegant and super clean place. I remember about the mirror beside our chosen-table, it was super duper clean, looks like no mirror anymore there. About a meals, it was really delicious. We ordered this four meals: • Mango Sticky Rice (my favorite!) • Thai Tea Iced • Beef Star Lover (Almond Beef) • Chicken Noodle Soup The portion actually too large for me, and I think I will take away the rest. But I love the taste of the Chicken Noodle Soup and make my bowl clean 👏🏻😄 Everything is good for us. Worth a repeat visit! 🥰
Love this place. 2nd times I’ve been here when I’m the area of Chicago. Food is fresh and delicious. Off minor street so a little quieter and cheaper than the main st. Food is amazing. We had chicken soup and appetizers. Pot stickers, crab Rangoon, vegi egg rolls and cucumber salad all which were great. They do add the 15% tip for you but let you k ow up front. I recommend.
One of my favorite places in Chicago. Food and service are always fantastic. Highly, highly recommend the Mussaman curry.

With the name like star of Siam, I had a great feeling this place was gonna have some very good food. And the best part? The food is Halal! It was gonna be shrimp if it was not. The service was great…

Green beef curry was fantastic. And I had never had green papaya salad before - it was unexpectedly my favorite menu item. Authentic unpretentious interior, friendly staff. Will return
Delicious menu to go. Lots of choices, easy to pick up. Loved the pad thai. So many great choices. Recommendable

Excellent service!! Delicious food & home like environment. The owner was amazing and very friendly. Best thai food in Chicago
I am a fan of Thai food and curry in general, so I got the beef curry. The portion was pretty good and definitely filled my up and had a nice heat to it. Any of the spicy or gluten free dishes are marked on the menu. The Thai iced tea wasn't bad either, but nothing really blew me away. Everything just tasted a bit above average, nothing really that special. The atmosphere and interior is nice and I had a good time, but the waitress was very pushy and trying to hurry us along. Which was fine when half our group knew what we wanted, but it seemed to annoy her when we needed to take a bit more time helping the other people in our group with deciding what to have. Overall the restaurant is good, at least above average, but wouldn't necessarily be my first choice.
Halal Thai food right in downtown Chicago! The prices are great, the service is excellent, and the staff is super friendly. While the food isn’t outstanding, it’s still very good and captures authentic Thai flavors. The portions are generous and well-presented. The iced Thai tea, however, is a standout and an absolute must-try. Definitely worth a visit!
My wife and happened to be walking by around dinner time so we stopped in here. We ordered a Mussaman curry with beef and a Singapore noodle with chicken. The Singapore noodle was listed as Southern Thailand style which was interesting to us since we are fans of regular Singapore noodles, so we wanted to try it. It seems like they just used the noodles from a pad Thai for this dish and it was good but I wouldn’t go out of the way to order that again. The Mussaman was really good. A couple things that I noticed about this place was rice doesn’t come with your entree order, that’s a first of any Thai restaurant we have ever been too. It was $3 for a large jasmine rice, not a big deal at all but I still found it strange since most Thai places will bring you a second round of rice for free. I also noticed they didn’t ask what spice level we wanted our food and because of that, we totally forgot to ask for it spicy so both entrees were mildly spicy. These are just a few quirks we noticed about this place but it wouldn’t stop us from dining there again. We will go back and try some other items. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was brought to our table a few minutes after we placed our order.
Loved the food here - its authentic! Went here for lunch, they have ample seating. Service was good, our server was really nice and she took good care of us. The have very good seating arrangements. We got the chicken satay - the sauce is amazing and goes well with the chicken. The Tom kha Kai soup was my favorite - it's a large bowl and we had it between 4 people. The massaman curry and the red curry were really good too. The drunken noodles were okay. The serving size is large and it's a loft of food! Really enjoy the food here!
I was glad to see that they were really busy on a Saturday night. Quite a bit of take out business there too. We really love this place, but this time the food was a little "off". Tom yum soup tasted great,, but was very oily. Pepper beef was almost sweet, and the veggies were overly cooked in my opinion. Pad Thai tasted great, but the presentation was not as remembered and looked like it was taken from a massive batch rather than individually cooked. Will go again, can't vote them off!
Staff, friendly, large portion for the price. Great food. I have come back several times, quality is consist.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Service was prompt and food was great. We shared an appetizer, a red curry and rice, which was more than enough for two. Prices were very reasonable too. So gl…
Restaurant has simple interiors that gives you the sense of being served home cooked thai food. My impression did not fail. Food was delicious. Loved the Pla Sam Rose - deep fried red snapper with …
Pretty bad overall. Ordered Fresh Spring Rolls - which was smothered in sticky plum sauce, way too much sauce, and too sweet. Gyoza - was just like the ones I cook myself from Trader Joe. String beans with tofu - paid extra for the tofu, extra for white rice ($2.50 for a small white rice?), but the beans were ok. Very weird: I ordered a vodka ginger and they put one shot of vodka in a tall soda cup and filled the rest with ginger ale (not a cocktail in any sense), and they charged me $14 for this terrible drink. I used to eat there years ago and my memory was that the food was much better. I cook much better at home.
I ordered pad kee mao spicy and it came with a very small amount of spicy sauce, some of the noodles weren’t evenly coated with the sauce, and the chicken was extremely dry. I also ordered the deluxe Thai ice tea, it was given to me as the tea alone with a small separate coffee mate creamer - not enough for the typical ratio of Thai iced tea. It would be good to add real creamer to this product. Food isn’t awful but it’s really not worth the price.
I tried the pad thai for the Taste of Chicago, and the food wasn't anything crazy. It was slightly cold and didn't have much protein or flavor. It was a little on the sweeter side. I have heard a l…
The food portions are generous but somewhat lacking in flavour. ambience slightly cafeteria, ok for casual dining. Service was fine
Food was herrible and bad. As a Thai person and thai food lover, this is not a real Thai food. I ordered chicken stir garlic, squid salad they were soooo SALTY LIKE Wth. And also ordered beef noodle which is shouldn’t put a pho noodles on this dish. The noodles soup tastes so bad like just a veggie soup, no any taste at all. Wouldn’t recommend. Very disappointed that i chose this restaurant as a only Thai restaurant i want to try for this vacation in Chicago
For lunch,I ordered the pepper steak and is was served tepid with tough beef. The brown rice was good. This is an old restaurant and it looks like the owner is ready to retire. It has a last leg feel about it. Ingredients are nothing more than average quality.Pricing average.Tips are automatically added in.Valet parking available.Decor poor.Carry out boxes and utensils sit in middle of dinning room. AWARDED 1 YUM ON A SCALE OF 3
Don’t get the Pad Thai. This would be my main warning. I know it’s not the most traditional Thai dish but If I was the owner of a Thai restaurant in the USA you bet I would make sure I serve a decent Pad Thai!! I think the owner stopped caring. The food came out so quickly that My suspicion is that everything is pre cooked. They probably have a huge batch of pad Thai and just heat it up. That’s the only reason why it would be runny and overcooked. Also the noodles are close to breaking down. No seasoning and bland taste. Simply appalling The rest of the food was decent, red curry was spicy and creamy but nothing amazing. Beer was cold We didn’t eat the pad Thai so the waitress asked if we wanted to take it home, we said no and she was very apologetic and gave us some free gyozas to take home which were actually nice. Her kind service and the decent curry are the only reasons why I didn’t give it 1 star. I’m guessing the good reviews come from people that got other dishes
Service was ok. The food was ok later that evening severe stomach issues and bathroom runs all day with vomiting. NEVER coming back
This place is terrible. Do not eat here. This is not authentic thai food. Everything we had was not good. So disappointed and such a waste of money. Probably the worst thing we ate in Chicago.

Horrible experience here. Server did not check up on us and it wasnt even busy. The food was plain with no flavor. Did not taste good. I got the shrimp wonton soup and it was SO water down. I do NOT recommend to anyone who loves Thai food. Thai food is suppose to be flavorful.
Visited because I thought it was a friendly halal Thai restaurant. However we ordered two Pad Thais and both had hair in the food. We asked them to allow us to not pay for 2 because 2 plates back to back with hair was disturbing and the manager or lady helping was soooo rude. She thought we were lying? Funny part both me and the only other girl at the table were hijabis with no hair showing. Anyways food came out cold and was not the best Thai I’ve had. Additionally we ordered two fried rices with no flavor whatsoever. Some of the staff were friendly but a few were very rude to us.
Please read and believe all bad reviews. First of all, I LOVE Thai food and I've had Thai food at various restaurants included in Thailand. and I've never had bad tasted Thai food in my entire life. However at this restaurant, food we ordered was not good.. I mean those were inedible. “Fresh” spring rolls were not fresh, and the wrapper was so hard which means they made it more than 30mins ago and should be put these in the fridge.... I'm not an idiot, and I make "fresh" spring rolls by myself as well so I know that wrappers will get tough over time. Put them in a fridge is NO WAY. Also this restaurant smells not good. I was like it might be the smell of fish soy sauce or smth before eating. Anyways it was a disappointment experience ever.
Avoid this place and believe the bad reviews. We went for an early dinner and ordered noodles and cashew chicken. I have lived in SEA, and I can confidently say this wasn’t even close to SEA cuisine. I wasn’t expecting authentic Thai, but the food was completely inedible. The chicken tasted stale, and the stir-fry came drenched in a soupy, awful-tasting sauce. Even the veggies tasted off. On top of it, they added a 15% gratuity to the bill and still asked for a tip. When we shared our feedback, the manager rudely gaslighted and dismissed us.
