This is my first time going and it was super nice. The atmosphere was super cool. Drink omg no need to worry if there is liquor in there (amazing) their appetizer we delicious steak skewers and steak bites 10/10 Most definitely will be back but not on a work day. I love all the cool drink options. I got the strawberry jungle bird and the pain killer. 10/10 Location is indeed in the alley.
Great vibe. Drinks are creative. Service was fab. Atmosphere is festive. Food is more appetizers than main course but still yummy. Chicken bites, pork bites and crab dip were good but not as good as the steak skewers and shrimp rolls. Would come back for a celebration.
We had an excellent time at Three Dots and a Dash. The cocktails were expertly crafted, and the ambiance was beautiful. However, we initially got reservations for the bamboo room, which was unfortunate because we had made a reservation for a more relaxed setting. Despite this setback, we still had a great time!!!
It’s one of the best bars in North America and the world for a reason. They have a specialized tiki cocktail menu and two separate spaces you can sit at. It’s on the expensive side but totally worth visiting. Cocktails are to die for.
This is a must while in Chcago. This speakeasy is amazing. Great drinks. Bartenders make wonderful drinks. Make sure you make a reservation to have a seat. When its busy you will be standing.
Strong drinks and tasty app. Hot buttered rum and souvenir mug, and loaded sweet potato fries with kimchi 😱 so good. Talented bar tender, dude has skillz. 🤓
Came for the fun atmosphere, stayed for the excellent quality. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of drinks, which are high-end. No clawing sweet cocktails here! The food was also delicious. Ordered steak skewers and they were so good we had to go for seconds. We set at the bar and service was attentive and prompt. Loved the place!
First visit to this hallmark tiki location. Was not disappointed. Food selection was great, get the steak skewers they are amazing. Drinks were on point. Special holiday version were a great choice. Service at bar was solid. Beware they have a merch booth so very dangerous for us mug merch collectors.
We had the best time here! While visiting town for my birthday we remembered that this place was on our list from our last visit so we decided to make it a priority to stop by. The Christmas bar takeover was perfect but what really made the night special was our bartender Lexi! We were lucky enough to get seats at the bar on a very busy Saturday night without a reservation. The service was excellent and it was more than just someone making drinks for you. While talking with Lexi I mentioned it was my birthday and we were visiting town, she went out of her way on a busy night to bring my wife and I a free shotopus! Also a sweet couple sitting next to us gave me this elf drink for free that was delicious! Definitely recommend! We will be back on our next trip to Chicago.
We arrived with a lot of curiosity because this bar looked unique from the outside. It’s tucked away in an alley, and the entrance feels mysterious and fun — dim lighting with a tropical, Hawaiian-style vibe. We couldn’t get a table since the place was already full, but we were still welcomed to stand by the bar. The drinks were incredible — playful glasses, fun presentations, and bold flavors. The atmosphere was lively, full of conversation, good music, and great energy. We enjoyed two drinks and had a great time before heading out. If you plan to visit, I’d definitely recommend making a reservation to secure a table. It’s a memorable spot and worth the experience. 🍹🌺✨
By far the cleanest back way entrance I've ever seen. This place is definitely big but crammed, but for a good reason! Food and drinks are really good, heir MUST GET is the steak skewers, shrimp spring rolls and pork bites!! EXTRA sawsawan dipping sauce PLEASE!! All their staff are really friendly and attentive! They're indeed wheelchair accessible! Oh, bathroom was clean too but their water for hand washing was really hot just be careful!
Been here a few times on various occasions. Sometimes it’s extremely crowded and difficult to find a seat. You might find yourself fighting to get a drink at the bar. But when you catch it on a slower night or are lucky to get a table, it’s a wonderful experience. I’ve had a handful of their beverages before. An old fashioned and a few others. The cups are really neat and are always delicious. We got the sampler food platter last time I was there and it was exquisite! Highly recommend if you have a larger party that’s feeling snacky.
One of the best recommendations I’ve received, was Three Dots & a Dash. So glad we stopped through. This bar lives up to all of its hype with unique cocktail experiences in a speakeasy meets outdoor cabana bar type vibe. Our bartender Matt was 10/10 This is a place you may have to find your way to the bar, but just be patient, it’s worth it!
The cocktails are delicious (said the Tiki nerd) and the service is excellent. Walked in on race day and was well communicated that we had an hour before a private party started. As our time expired we were moved to an even cooler smaller room and had another round. We could have stayed here all night, but, you know, we needed to be able to walk. Beautiful decor. Enter in the alley behind the Rick Bayless empire. Follow the Tiki Torch.
This is the OG of all Tiki Bar experiences complete with all the ambiance and a roped off VIP section to flex your style. I met a date at a standard table but still glad I made a reservation. Be prepared that they will keep you moving along after 2hrs in most cases. It will be hopping even on a weeknight. And it’s loud (but still possible to have a good conversation). The whole thing drips of intentional irony and “baller” class with Hawaiian 🌺 charm. Watch for the skulls to know the alcohol levels. All the options were good (we had the Mai Tai…more than one 😆…and the classic Three Dots). Food was good too but don’t come looking for healthy options. Unless you count the decorative greens under you beef skewers, this place is sans salads or greens of any kind 😊 I learned of this place from a Tiki Bar in Columbus SC of all places called Urban Tiki which Three Dots inspired (so if you love tiki and you find yourself in Columbus SC be sure to keep the fun going there too).
Lexy is THE BEST! I was visiting town and she gave me recommendations where to go. What to see. Now the spot itself. There is a reason this a storied bar. The drinks are built well. The garnish game: another level. The ambiance: perfect. ( the 'secret' entrance really leads to another world, a tropical one) Then she made me two drinks off menu. The best Jungle Bird of my life. The thing is she makes every drink with love and flair. And the menu slaps, classics done right. Period. Then she recognized my special occasion and lit my drink on fire in honor of my party. This is service.
Three Dots and a Dash was a fantastic bar experience with shockingly tasty food, strong but approachable drinks, and surprisingly attentive service for how club-ish it was. The ability to make reservations was also great to see. Overall, our drinks were strong and incredibly fun - absolutely will be back!
Absolutely top-notch tiki bar. Classic cocktails in the noisier main room, craft high-concept takes on the old favorites in the quieter Bamboo Room across the hall (plus very knowledgeable bartenders if you want to learn about rum). The food is great at both, and the merchandise is high quality as well (it's what they're serving the drinks in).
Wow! What a find. We made reservations, good thing, when we were leaving there a line down the alley. My my has Celiacs disease and their menu was so perfect that practically everything was edible. She had fried chicken nugget bites, fried pork bites and the best sweet potato fries ever! The music was upbeat, decor was polynesian and it was dark and mysterious. Staff was fantastic too. Our best find in Chicago ever!
Amazing Tiki style drinks that stick to the theme of the bar. Reservations recommended or plan to wait in line in a well decorated alley. There are two bar areas, the main bar is two rows of tables (by reservation), and then the bar area where there is standing room only aside from the single row of stools at the bar. The bartenders were friendly, playful, and masters at their craft. It IS loud and crowded in this bar. The vibe is right, the DJ kept the room feeling great. The second bar area is much smaller, fits maybe 20 people? Much quieter space, also by reservation. Also- It is a renowned bar (for a very good reason)...be ready to pay those prices.
Fun and trendy atmosphere. Server was nice and the manager quickly addressed our issue. Would come again. The crab Rangoon was good and chicken
Nice place if you are looking for somewhere to drink with friends and have a good time. I loved the decoration and the drinks were really good. The sad thing, they do not offer other than samplers to eat. I was expecting to have dinner there for my birthday and have some drinks but there wasn't food, just samplers so I had to leave and go somewhere else.
I love tiki bars and had really high expectations for 3 dots. My main complaint is the atmosphere. The loud music completely ruined the tiki vibe & ambiance and we had to basically yell to each other in order to have a conversation. The drinks were very good & prices were what you'd expect for a popular bar in a big city. Good, friendly service as well. I'd definitely return but please rethink your music choices. It's not that I didn't like the music. It just didn't fit.
What a cute bar! Their drinks are very interesting-looking and well-priced for the wow factor they provide. Our table ordered 5 different cocktails and we did a tasting of all of them. One theme was that all the cocktails had the same major problem which was they were too sweet. They had notes of the flavors listed on the menu, however they could have used either less sugar or something like lemon or lime to cut the sweetness. It was to the point where I had to request extra mix-ins like lemon juice for my drinks. Also, find it kind of odd to have a gift shop in front and it makes a place like this feel almost gimmicky. It would be hard to convince me to come here again. As far as food, the pu pu platter was pretty traditional and good for bar food.
Came here with some friends & the vibes are fun! Lexy was awesome, great service & super friendly. I would recommend making reservations if you’re coming during their peak hours as standing around the bar can be difficult to order. We stood near the bar & had a great time with our group. We did mainly drinks & grabbed some waffle fries! Our most ordered drink of the night was the Coffee Grog, it is one of the best espresso martinis we’ve had. But the group drinks were always fun for show!
