Great place for Italian in Chula Vista. Good wine selection, and great food.
I've been here a few times and I really like the food. Bread is delicious. Creme brulee is delicious. I tried a few dishes and I've been very pleased with all of them.
We’ve been wanting to dine here for years and I finally convinced the wife to go! We were impressed with the restaurant upon arrival as the dining area was decorated with Christmas lights, trees, and holiday themed items. We were served by Sarahi and she took great care of us! We ordered their house bread, Caprese salad, mushroom ravioli, and their large meat pizza. We got a large bottle of Saratoga sparking water. The pace of our food coming out was on point, Sarahi checked on us regularly to make sure all was going well. LOVED: Caprese (plenty of fresh mozzarella cheese & tomatoes), and mushroom ravioli. LIKED: meat pizza (tasty but Italgo is called a pasta bar for a reason, it won’t threaten to put a pizza house out of business) but it was reasonable, fresh, served hot, and was tasty enough to order again. We loved the food but loved the service, prices, and ambiance more! Oh, they also have private parking in the back and the restaurant is accessible from the rear of the building. If you live in the South Bay area, IPB is a place you should try if you’re a fan of Italian food…
We’ve been going about 2 times a week for years. I don’t know how they do it. Everything is really good. Their vegetarian pizza is the best pizza in town. Their clam chowder is made from scratch. Their burrata salad is so good. And fresh baked bread….yum! Waiters and waitresses and the chef are so friendly.
Atmosphere was great...I would like to comment on my food, tho. This was my 2nd time dining here and I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan...it was 2 breaded slices sitting on top of a very sparse amount of sauce. Way too dry for me. I'd never had it served like that and probably would not order it again, unless I order extra sauce. I will order the Salmon Fettuccine, which I ordered on my first time there, and couldn't stop talking about it for days. My friends all loved what they ordered as well.
Really like this place. Been in 5+ times and it’s super dialed in. Great pasta, pizza, and homemade bread. Staff is really sweet too. Recommend Update: Just called before they even opened to ask a few questions and they were super helpful. I wanted to know if the pasta is made in house and the majority of it is. Excited to dine here again tonight.
The overall impression was that of a restaurant focused on comfort and consistency. From the moment guests arrived, seating was organized and handled smoothly. The menu provided a wide enough selection to appeal to various tastes, with dishes presented neatly. Food delivery times were practical, avoiding unnecessary delays. Service remained attentive, with staff ensuring guests had what they needed without being intrusive. The environment was kept clean and orderly, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Music played softly in the background, maintaining a calm tone. Altogether, the restaurant offered a balanced dining experience that combined efficiency with a relaxed setting.
A little hidden gem in Chula Vista that serves high-quality tasty Italian pasta at reasonable prices. Save yourself the trip to little Italy in downtown and visit this restaurant it’s much better. The walls are filled with cute art deco pieces and the atmosphere is cozy. We stopped by for lunch and ordered a variety of pasta dishes while sipping on white sangria. If your a fan of Italian soda there are different flavors to try just ask the server. There was also plenty of seating for large parties. Make sure to try their homemade bread!
It’s pretty good, I’ve ordered a seafood pasta. Switched it with a very creamy alfredo sauce instead of tomato. And then finished it with their homemade crème brûlée for dessert. They didn’t refill my drink tho and was waiting for water, but I’m sure they would’ve if I ask since the servers are very nice.
Been eyeing this place for awhile. Went in to have dinner. Got an Italian soda which was kiwi flavored. Got bread, which tasted super fresh, and caprese. Starters were good. The main dish of salmon and Alfredo pasta was delicious. I was expecting the salmon to be dry but the salmon was cooked to how I liked it. And the lemon to top it was great. I definetly would come back here to try more dishes and if I could possibly try their lunch menu. 10/10 in my book.
This place is a cute hidden gem here in Chula Vista that’s been serving up some flavorful italian for I wanna say a year or two already. It was my first time trying it but I had high expectations and I’m glad I was not disappointed. We went and had the Pappardelle, a Pesto, and the Tagliata; and all were really delicious and filling. The sun dried tomatoes in the Pappardelle were so flavorful and were one of my favorite parts of the dish, and my friends pesto had a very creamy and garlicky taste, which they said they really liked. My friend that ordered the Tagliata did unfortunately not love her dish as much since the meat wasn’t cooked well done as she has requested, but I mean she ate it and flat iron steak well done would lowkey be criminal. But do specify if your trying to get your meat cooked a certain way since they like to take their own culinary liberties. The pastas however are amazing and I’d really recommend trying anything this menu has to offer. I’ve also heard good reviews on the Fettuccini with Salmon and Citrus so also try that if it’s around your palate interests; and I can say i’ll be trying out the Spaghettini and Bolgnese next time i’m here. And also not to forget about the homemade bread that they accompany with some olive oil and vinegar. It’s a classic that can’t miss with a proper italian meal, and it really does taste fresh and homemade; it’s incredibly soft but also bouncy just ughh absolutely firee💯. it’s 3 bucks a basket, but honestly sooo worth it, and they have a robust drink menu which I think y’all should check out. From an expansive list of wines, to micheladas, to italian sodas🇮🇹 they kind of have it all and for NORMAL prices which I just have to emphasize. 10/10 out here giving chula a great rep, and absolutely DAYGOEATS APPROVED✅✅
They had us at "the homemade soft, fluffy & exotic bread!". The main course "Pollo" was exquisite but the tomato soup should have basil in it. Ribeye was huge for only $38, tender and wow with the also big & perfectly prepared asparagus. Customer service is always excellent. Definitely recommend
Went in for a late lunch on a Friday, it wasn't pack. I wanted to take my fiance here to try it, and it didn't disappoint. He really like his chicken plate, and I thought the salmon was very good. The staff was attentive and friendly. Food didn't take to long. They have vegetarian options. The food was very good. The restaurant itself is between some closed down businesses, so it is easy to overlook it, but food is so much better than the Olive Garden down the street.
This place is absolutely fantastic!!! We made reservations every time we visited because it does get busy and the place is small. This place has to be one of the best pasta I've ever had. I have celiac so I ordered gluten free pasta and since that was phenomenal I cheated and got the chicken with broccoli (WOW!!!) I LICKED THE PLATE!!! sorry.... The sauce, chicken and noodles were amazing!!! I told the hostess to send compliments to the chef (owner)
Best Italian food. Delicious. Service is “A” class. Ask for the sangria, the house blend is beautiful and goes well with the homemade soft amazing bread and olive oil. I am in heaven. Natalia has the best service with a smile and excellent recommendations. Thank you for your awesome service, attitude, and attention to detail... especially the rose.
.Loved the atmosphere, it's such a cute cozy place. Good variety of Italian food. They use a lot of chicken rather than beef such as the lasagna was made with chicken. One of our party ordered the bolognase and said it was too salty. I had the seafood pasta which I loved. The clams and mussels came in the shell plus there was shrimp. I asked for the cream sauce. Service was excellent. We were visiting in town and family recommend we all meet their. Great choice!
My women’s book club recently decided to dine at this restaurant, as two of our members had previously visited and left positive reviews. We arrived last night around 5pm. on a Tuesday. It took some time for our server to acknowledge us and bring our waters. For our meal, three of us ordered salads—one with salmon, one with chicken and dressing on the side—and three orders of various pastas served with home-style bread. The food was generally enjoyable, though I found my salmon portion to be slightly overcooked and dry. When it was time to settle the bill, we asked if it could be split. Unfortunately, the server said she could not do so, explaining that we should have requested this when ordering. She also mentioned she was quite busy, being the only server on the floor, which might explain the limited check-ins during our meal. She pointed out that one of the ladies did not ask for the dressing on the side and also noted that the restaurant does not typically provide free cake or desserts for birthdays. Overall, while the experience was pleasant enough, we might consider trying other options in the future. Additionally, parking is limited to street parking. No, I will not be coming back or recommending this place.
Came here for my mom's birthday. We didn't care for the food at all. Some dishes didn't have enough spaghetti sauce, my chicken Alfredo had TOO much sauce, noodles were drowning and mushy, mushroom appetizer had way too much garlic and salt (and I typically LOVE garlic). Front area of the restaurant is cold and not comfortable at all-- you get a draft every time someone walks in, but we did enjoy sitting in the back room with the fireplace, even though they didn't have it on this one cold, rainy evening. It's a cozier vibe. Server kept forgetting items like drink refills. But she was nice so we didn't complain.
