Wow! The best seafood I have had near Kokomo, IN. The portion size was good in comparison with the prices. I had the Cicero Sampler. The four pieces of grouper were perfectly fried. The hush puppies are amongst the best of my lifetime sampling. The fries are egg coated, and again perfectly fried. The waitress was at the top of her game. Kind, friendly, knows the menu extremely well, and efficient. Perfect! Thank you for your assistance with the menu. Outdoor heated igloo dining available for up to eight if reserved. A beautiful view of the lake and pier. That was an awesome experience. Kudos Boathouse!!!!
The menu had a good variety and the environment had a beautiful view and was was nice. Live music in the background was enjoyable but not overly loud. We met to visit with family and had a great visit. Additionally, the wait staff was kind and attentive.
I had the boathouse deluxe burger with fries. I came with a party of 12 with no reservations & they accommodated us and were friendly & nice. The staff here is very polite, and our order was correct. I HIGHLY recommend this place to eat at.
It was our second time here and it was exceptional again! We had the steam pot with crab legs and it was insanely good. Crazy how good the flavor was and the freshness of the shellfish considering we are in Indiana. I think there are still some service kinks but everyone is so pleasant and trying their best. You can tell there is pride in the food and that it is made with care. We love it here.
Amazing atmosphere, good food, good service, fun time! We went for devour to try something new and we were not disappointed!! It's an amazing place for a date night, groups, or family!
love the decor, people are nice, food was amazinggggggggg and tasted homemade. 12$ for salmon salad + brussel sprouts is a great deal, especially when it's delicious! Definitely worth the price
Really fantastic time at the boathouse. Went here for lunch on a weekday with my wife and youngest daughter while the other kids were at school. They had great shrimp tacos and really good fish and chips. The service was great. The atmosphere was the best part though. Highly recommend sitting outside where you can watch the reservoir and feel the breeze off the water.
First time here for valentines dinner. We reserved an igloo. There was a mess up on my part on cost of reservations and manager was gracious to us over it which I totally appreciated 🥵. Food was really yummy and our server lady was sweet and very pretty. I wanna come back in the summer.
This restaurant played a major part in making my birthday wonderful they did an awesome job with the food, drinks, entertainment, plus vibes was on point. the customer Service was outstanding I’m definitely going back.
Came here for our eight year anniversary dinner. We had never been here and thought we would try it out. It has a nice view of the reservoir with outside or inside seating. It also had live music on a Sunday evening, which was a bonus I was not expecting. Our waiter Stewart did an excellent job at making our dinner and evening the best it could be. He even brought out a double shot on the house on a ski for my wife and I and announced our 8 year anniversary. The food was good but if I could recommend one thing it would be the brussel sprouts. They were excellent. Thanks for a great night and I will be coming back again.
There's a lot of food options here! From seafood to general comfort foods, and a decent selection of each. We had a couple of the burgers that were very good. The staff were super nice and attentive. Our first time first server here was Amy W, going by the name on our ticket, she was wonderful and got us anything we needed, desert was tempting. The view out over the water is great, especially at night when we were there.
Nice place! The atmosphere was pretty cool, lots of things to look at . The trickles were hot and fresh! We both got the tenderloin sandwich, good size and tasty!
Meals were served timely and hot. Our server was attentive and engaging without hovering. They had a nice selection of appetizers and meals. The atmosphere is unique and attractive.
So nice to dine in. From the first person we meet to the last were super nice. The food was tasty and filling. The peeled shrimp 😎👍😎. The view was relaxing and you took us out of the quarantine. We did take out which was good, but dine in so much better.
Our experience was fantastic! Shelly provided top-notch service, and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. I decided to try the grouper bowl, and my wife went for the fried grouper.
We went to the boathouse on our first night of our Anniversary trip to Disney. I have a gluten allergy and George was our server! He made sure the manager came over and took my order to be sure my food was safe to eat! He was always checking on us and making sure we were satisfied with every aspect of our meal. He even surprised us with an anniversary cupcake and candles to celebrate! We could not have received better service! This was our second trip to the Boathouse in the last year and we were highly satisfied both times! That you so much for your outstanding service George!!!
We really enjoyed our dinner here. We sat by the window with a nice view of the lake and boats going by. The bar and restaurant were decorated so cute! We both enjoyed our seafood - the shrimp and fries were delicious and my husband’s salmon was cooked just right. He also particularly liked his Caesar salad. Our server was attentive and friendly. Overall a fun meal- now we know where to get seafood in this area!
Great vibe. Great views. Wonderful food. Engaging and good servers (we had Korben). The fish bowls are must-orders. We drove around the lake and stopped here. We ate outdoors. My wife had the watermelon cocktail. Really good. Our first time here.
Always enjoy coming here and hanging outside at the bar. Nice view of lake and watching boats. Wait staff friendly and attentive. Had wings this time and Bloody Mary for my Sun brunch. Come here at least once a week when out on my bike.
Cool place. Food was good and the view of morse reservoir is awesome. Servers were friendly. Had a good time. Will come back again soon
I had the steamer and my husband had the sampler. We both really enjoyed our meals, the service, and the atmosphere/view. Will likely come back some day when we’re close by.
Love this place! We’ve been here many times and have never had bad service or food. The views of the lake are amazing and the staff are wonderful!
Good food ..great service...wonderful atmosphere. Let's face it...Don Hall's Inc. knows how to design a restaurant and run a kitchen. This is another feather in their cap. The food was excellent. My only slight disappointment was the grouper. But then the last time I had it was sitting in a dockside restaurant on Marco Island enjoying it as the fresh catch of the day. So I can't blame them. They did excellent for what they had to work with. Highly recommend...but br forewarned. Get there early or get a reservation. This place is busy...and for good reason.
delicious food the fries are amazing drinks were good service and stuff were great The atmosphere was pretty awesome even for winter time just cold by the windows
What an amazing place! The great service perfectly complemented the great food. It's impressive that they are still working on their menu because every dish we tried was a winner: the ribs, hamburgers, fish and chips, margarita pizza, and crab dip were all fantastic. They welcome feedback, but honestly, we liked it all! We will definitely be going back!
My visit to Boathouse Kitchen & Swan Dive was fantastic! The location right by the water gives it a relaxing, scenic vibe that makes dining feel like a mini getaway. The ambiance is both chic and comfortable — modern design meets casual elegance. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed the moment we walked in. The food was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, beautifully presented plates, and flavors that were spot-on. The seafood options especially were excellent — light, tasty, and perfectly cooked. Drinks were also a highlight — creative cocktails and a great wine list to pair with the menu. All in all, Boathouse Kitchen & Swan Dive offers a delightful experience — beautiful setting, superb food, and top-tier service. Highly recommended!
We had a reservation for one of the Igloos, but had to reschedule due to my daughter being sick. Usef answered the phone and was so kind and helpful with rescheduling! He was so professional and personable. It was so refreshing and I appreciated him being so understanding!
What an excellent experience! Food was awesome and sat at a table outside by the water. Had the fried grouper with slaw and fries. I'm from Florida and I must say this flash fried and crunchy grouper was the best I have had since I can remember. Highly recommend! Good service, too. Overall great experience!
Yesterday was our first visit to the restaurant. The restaurant was very uniquely decorated which made it fun to look at everything. It was a wonderful view overlooking Morse Reservoir. I can see how popular this place would be in the summer! Our server was very polite and helpful. We all got different entries and we each liked our food. The tuna poke bowl was delicious a great size! The tenderloin hit the spot as well as the salmon power bowl and BBQ sandwich. The only negative we had was the restaurant was so cold we were shivering and wore our coats the whole time. We will definitely return though and can't wait to experience it during the summer with the water view!
Lobster rolls were not as pictured. Poke bowl rice wasn’t cooked fully. Salmon is good.
Honestly this was my first time here based on iffy reviews by others. So happy I finally got there! Perfect outdoor atmosphere with great music. The appetizer and burgers were hot and tasty. Our server Kehara was busy but attentive and provided great service. Happy to see a manager lending a hand to the servers as well. We will definitely be back!
I really enjoyed our time and the meal at the Boathouse Kitchen and Swan Dive. The food was delicious and a little different from your typical pub food. There are some good seafood options available. The Power Bowl was safe for my wife with food allergies which was really nice for us to have as an option. It gave us a break from the typical salad and burger without a bun. The service is different though on the outdoor deck. You go up to the bar to place an order and then someone else brings out your food. It's an interesting system, but if you need something else for your meal, then you have to go track it down. Need extra tartar sauce for your fried grouper, up to the bar, wait in line, then wait for someone to bring it to you. I'm not sure what the service style is like inside, but that's the story outside. The great news about the outside is the view. On a nice day like yesterday, the breeze, temperature, and view were amazing. Having live music on the deck was an added treat for sure.
We stopped in for an early dinner on a weekday. I like my fish and chips. Husband got the beefsteak and a salad. It was good - I really liked the salad. But for the price it didn't blow my socks off. We asked for au jus and didn't get it. Sandwich would probably have been better. Otherwise it's a very nice, very trendy venue with great views of the reservoir.
A nice selection of dinner salads, sandwiches and basic entrees. My salad was fresh, and my friends were all happy with there dishes. It was Friday night so it got crowded early and the bar was full and loud. The only gripe...and we really gave our waitress a hard time about it (jokingly but not joking) was they only had carrot cake as a dessert option. She said they had cheesecake but were sold out, but seriously, two things and no chocolate??? We opted for Dairy Queen instead.
There is a wide variety of food. I'm a vegetarian and there isn't a lot of vegetarian food, but I was able to find something to eat. It's mostly sandwiches and the people I was with got the breaded tenderlion and seemed to like them. The interior is nice and the restrooms are decorated in a fun nautical theme. The parking lot is ample and it's easy in and out from either street.
*please read entire review* Row row row your boat right into this swan “dive.” If you’re spending time in or around Cicero you may be interested in seeing what the boathouse has to offer. Upon initial first impression, morale was high and the views were breathtaking. I did not feel like I was in Cicero Indiana anymore. The communal feel in the establishment is infectious. The patrons feel almost familiar. We got our table on the balcony facing the water. That being said, let’s swan dive in to our main takeaways. First, our cocktails were slightly disappointing. Don’t expect a 21st bday vibe from your drink. It’s more so giving Shirley temple to appease a 12 year old. My girlfriend order a strawberry mojito and there was not a splash of rum or mint taste. For $12?? I’d rather pay for the next three songs on touch tunes. Second, it’s clear that the selling point of this “dive” bar is the summer on the lake vibes. The food is actually the only attribute that is giving a dive bar feel, aside from the fancier seafood menu options. This is neither here nor there, but just wanted to note, that the sauces are so sticky that even has I type this my fingers are sticking to the keyboard. Concerning, I know. In conclusion, the boathouse may be the backbone of a Midwest summer in Cicero and we understand why. It’s got cultivating live music and friendly staff that make you feel welcome and happy to be there. The vibe upon arrival is, some might say, electrifying and the food does the job.
The atmosphere and the location on Morse reservoir are obviously the main features. Plenty of outdoor seating as well as an outdoor bar which is cool. The food/drinks I would put at a 3/5– fairly average quality and prices but not bad by any means, would say the same for the service.
Very fun place. Had a live band that was very good. It was extremely busy when we were there. We sat on the upstairs patio with a beautiful view of the lake. The tables were very close together making it difficult for servers and guest to navigate around and between them. We ordered the tenderloin sandwich meal and fish tacos. The tenderloin was good and the fish tacos had good flavor but had clearly sat for a while before brought to the table. The tortilla shells were so soaked with the juice from the coleslaw they just fell apart and could not be eaten in the typical taco fashion. If going on a Saturday night I would strongly recommend reservation. Overall, we'd go back because of the atmosphere.
Generally service and good are great, today i decided to order the cicero sampler, with a side of brussels instead of fries. The only good part of the meal was the brussel sprouts and that is being generous. The "Fried Grouper" both looked and tasted like pre frozen tilapia. It felt like i was eating a filet of fish from mcdonalds. Certainly not grouper. The shrimp was also bland and seemed prefrozen as well. The hushpuppies were great but thats not what i was looking forward too. Seemed like they had one girl working the whole restaurant. For 22$ i expect better quality than frozen food.
We were looking for a place to eat outdoors and the Boathouse Kitchen is perfect. Big plus that they accept reservations. Nice indoor and fantastic outdoor area. Views and atmosphere are great too. Service was good as well. The food is a little overpriced for the portion size and quality. I paid $22 for two under-seasoned grouper fish tacos with fries. Add a third taco or charge less. Definitely worth another visit to try some of their other dishes.
Stopped in on our way home as the location is beautiful! Ordered ginger wings, Angry Eddie burger and brisket sandwich. The wings were the only good thing. Burger was a premade patty with NO flavor. Was told it would have a smoky flavor and it was sooo bland. Brisket sandwich was like what you'd get at the grocery store. Really disappointing. Sweet tea was great and the view was real reason you come here.
The location is excellent. The service was fair. The food was not worth the price as the steak was bland and the brussel sprouts were way overcooked. It is an establishment that celebrates birthdays by a lot of yelling out, so if you're like me and prefer a quiet, laid-back environment, visit at your own risk.
If it wasn’t for the location and music I wouldn’t go here. McDonald’s fish sandwich is more desirable. Salsa was tomato paste. Beer, music and location are perfect. Food and mixed drink prices no bueno!
Had an ok meal. Ordered the crab legs. At $80/lb for snow crab, I was disappointed. The crab was extremely salty. The server stated that they don’t add salt when preparing it… that’s how it comes. I laughed when the manager attempted to correlate the salty crab with some dolphin tour she took once and the seas were rough… so that was entertaining. The brussel sprouts were pretty good though. Atmosphere was nice, the restaurant was clean. The band playing was loud and it was hard to hear, but that’s how live music goes. I would go back but I would never pay that much for overly salty crab again.
The ambiance is unique. Live music on the reservoir is a gem in the middle of Indiana. However - the food was shockingly just ok. Come for the ambiance and music, but maybe not the food.
The food was mediocre, portions were small and over priced. Our server was mostly vacant as was most of the dining area. Don't see any reason for us to revisit.
The service? Great! The staff were friendly and fast — absolute pros. But the food? It must’ve gone on vacation without telling anyone. My fish and chips were so flavorless I started checking if I’d lost my taste buds mid-bite. The coleslaw tasted like someone whispered “cabbage” near a bowl of water and called it a day. Honestly, it’s called Swan Dive for a reason — because that’s what my taste expectations did. Two stars for the service… and for teaching me what “underwhelmed” truly tastes like.
The quality of the food is bleh, and is way overpriced, as are the drinks. I will say that Jordan is a FABULOUS bartender and can make an amazing “salted caramel expresso martini”!!! She’s very attentive and on top of it! Best bartender !
This was a poor experience from start to finish. The restaurant seemed to be overstaffed with team members stepping on each others toes, yet no one was communicating about who was responsible for what. When we walked up to the host stand, one staff member greeted us, but halfway through another employee interrupted and restarted the greeting as if we had just walked in. After being seated, a server took our drink order, but before she returned, a different staff member brought iced waters and bumped into our waitress. They stepped away behind us and appeared to have a discussion about which tables they were covering. By the end of this confusion, I ended up receiving the wrong drink. These initial interactions left me feeling like the staff had no clue what was going on. When our food arrived, I had to specifically ask the food runner for malt vinegar as he was walking away—he didn’t ask if I needed anything else. Our actual waitress never stopped by during the meal to check on us or see if we needed refills. For our $3.75 drinks, we received no refills at all and only saw her again when we were ready to pay. As for the food, the fish portion of my fish and chips was the one bright spot, but the coleslaw and tartar sauce were completely flavorless. My partner’s fish tacos were drowning in guacamole, and the fish itself had no flavor. Overall, the experience was subpar: disorganized service, lack of basic attentiveness, and food that didn’t deliver on taste. We will not be returning.
So, I’ve come in a multitude of times, I’m a local resident.. and honestly I’m just at a loss for words. We use to have the best time here, from waitstaff to menu. Recently the food is subpar at best, the turn over rate of employees is honestly wild, not to mention I haven’t seen a manger I recognize every time I walk in there. Change after change, yet it’s getting worst. The food quality has gone down, the drinks have gone up in cost but down in value.. we’re racking our brains trying to figure out what the problem is. The only good thing is your employees which also has changed. The only few good people left are Amy, Jordan, and Matt. You guys really need to consider your management and the changes you make. Because locals are RUNNING out of this place, and if this continues over the winter, you better be hopeful for the non regulars to keep your lights on..
