Opinions de Dos Coyotes Border Cafe Citrus Heights
Love their Burritos & Salads. Always fresh, very tasty, and priced just right!! The pictures are of the Yucatan Chicken Salad in a togo container. I would score this salad a 11/10. I'm looking for a sponsor, salad sponsor that is :)
Great customer service and great food The el rancho burrito is by far the best item on the menu
I have been eating at Dos Coyotes Roseville and now the Citrus Heights location for many years my favorite is the paella burrito with chorizo, shrimp and rice. My second is pictured it is the Yucatán salad with chicken. Give this place a try you will like it.
Dos Coyotes offers a delicious and casual Southwestern dining experience. Their 3 taco plate is a must-try, allowing you to explore different flavors. The salsa bar adds another layer of customization, letting you adjust the spice level and toppings to your preference. Overall, Dos Coyotes is a great choice for a satisfying Mexican food meal.
We have been going to this location since they opened. We have never been disappointed. The specials change every month or ? I am still working through all the menus items and combinations. One thing we have learned is double your protein on burritos for $2 is the best deal. You can also ask to add a protein to any vegetarian dish. The service is always prompt and courteous. Even when they are busy we never wait long for our food. The only down side to their model is the soda/water self serve machine. This can become a road block when there's only 1 machine and even worse when people either can't decide on a selection or are not familiar with operating it. I vote and have told the Managers that a simple water dispenser would really help. We don't drink soda. Or Add another machine please. Pics are 2 waters and roasted corn salsa for $2.
I have reviewed the Citrus Heights location before. It is worth an update. This is the freshest of their locations. Dine in, pick up, outdoor seating is always pleasant. Staff polite and friendly. Restaurants is kept clean and food is dependably great. We go out of our way to dine here.
The food here is Very delicious and has a lot of flavor! It’s so AWESOME that they have a salsa bar! Very cool place. I highly recommend their chicken fajita salad

We love this restaurant. We get take out at least 3-4 times a month and love the food and service. We had one recent issue and when I brought it the attention to the Manager Erica, she quickly apoligized and made it right! Thank you Erica & team, we will continue to be happy loyal customers.
Always quick and great tasting food. Pickup times are always accurate and often faster than initial projections.
Super friendly, fast service, taco plate and prickly pear margaritas were yummy, great atmosphere for a fast-casual place.
This is a nice place for fast food type Mexican food. It is not a place where someone takes your order from the table. Instead, you order your food and they bring it to you. That was ok, but once you place your order, that's the last contact you will have with anyone working there. The food is decent. Slightly overpriced. Margaritas are tiny. Just wanted to experience something different, it was OK at best. Nice ambiance, airy setting. Nothing bad to say, but not a restaurant with waiters or waitresses taking your orders.
If you are looking for a casual Mexican restaurant, Dos Coyotes fits the bill. In-door and out-door seating. Large variety of unique Mexican dishes. Variety of spice levels and a nice salsa bar. I also believe that they have a full bar, at the very least wine and beer.
Woohoo! Finally got a Dos Coyotes in Citrus Heights. Don't have to go to Folsom or Roseville anymore. This one's nice. Not to different from others. Clean, attractive Southwestern decor, festive atmosphere. This is the first one with a full bar (except it doesn't stay open passed 9pm. Not sure if that will work). Love the paella burrito.

Good Mahi Mahi tacos. Two minute wait to order. Very good service. Lots of beer choices on tap and bottle.
When I go to a Mexican restaurant expect to have chips and an abundance of salsa. They gave me 17 chips and tiny little dishes of salsa. There was only two choices of salsa which was a pico de Gallo or just a regular hot sauce. The pictures I see on other reviews have a whole bar of salsa. Maybe I will try this place back out when the pandemic is over. Also be aware that their hand sanitizer was out. The burrito that I had was also packed with lettuce as a filler. If I spend $11 for a burrito I expected to be packed full, not a bunch of lettuce. If I wanted lettuce 🥬 I would get a wrap or a salad. I did give it three stars because the flavor of the sauce was awesome. The help was pretty good too.
This is a chain mexican food restaurant with great quality food. Clean bathrooms. The food can be pricey for the amount and a small amount of chips will come with your order. No endless chips here, but salsa bar. Sometime staff is tired as you can read their face. Especially end of the day. One incident, I had to repeat my order 3 times. But overall Great place. Best dos coyotes I've been to, worth a try.

I usually always order the same salad from this place and never had a problem with the salad until today. The lettuce in my salad was old and not fresh. I had to take out every single piece in order to eat it. Will not be going back to this one again.
Not the greatest. The refried beans taste funny the rice is flavorless the menu says chips and salsa bar but there is only salsa. The crispy tacos ave very oily. This place is not for my taste buds but you may like it.

This place was a fraud!!!! I was so excited to stop here and eat this place looked very welcoming and clean. I'm not from California I am from Texas vacationing here. Well I ordered their traditional "Tex Mex" Fajitas and to my surprise apparently here Fajitas mean bell peppers and onion mixture because there was NO MEAT at all. Why name something TEX MEX which in Texas and Mexico Fajitas are meat called beef skirts in English what a major disappointment this was very very bad experience and never will I ever eat here again!!! This by every means IMO is the true definition of FALSE ADVERTISEMENT which I will be looking into suing for. Oh and their Tea of the day was Mango tea and that sucked too it wasn't even sweet.
I placed an online order for a shrimp burrito. Went to pick it up and just got home. They either made my order wrong or gave me someone else's food. Store wasn't busy. Very disappointing. I called them and they offered to make it for me but I don't have time to drive 30+ minutes roundtrip.
Avoid if portion size is important to you. Placed an order through DoorDash and the Salmon Grain bowl (which I’ve ordered dozens of time, at at least one other Dos coyote location) was nothing short of scandalous in size. I appreciate margins are tightening, but adjust your prices, not your portion sizes. By far the biggest rip-off of all Dos Coyote locations. I have sadly come across.

While this tends to be a weekly stop for me, tonight I picked up my dinner- a regular order- and got home for it to be incorrect (chicken instead of vegetarian, so kind of a big deal). The on duty manager said he’d refund my money (which, duh) but said they can’t do anything else for the inconvenience. If they are willing to lose regulars (like the managers know me by sight when I’m there), then that’s on them and they don’t need my business 🤷🏼♀️the LEAST they could have done was refund and say come by tomorrow and we’ll make them properly. He said if I was in store there are options (!but also like if I was in store, they’d just re-make it and I wouldn’t be dinner-less, so… cool). Anyway- too bad as this is usually a family spot to go when people are in town. Sad they don’t want to keep their regulars.

Found a long brown wavy hair in my burrito today! And the young Caucasian male manager was so NOT empathetic to the issue at all and DIDNT even apologize for the hair found in my food. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. On top of that… the Mexican staff behind him just gave me dirty looks and didn’t take responsibility for their hair falling out in my food at all either, while laughing that I was upset about this all. Will not be coming back because of this horrific unpleasant experience!
