I highly recommend you don't miss the opportunity to try the Day of the Dead offering menu at El Tajín. The menu designed by Chef Ana María and Alma Cervantes is incredible. They captured the essence of the Day of the Dead celebration in perfectly executed dishes. I recommend the four-course menu. The portions are a bit smaller than usual, but it will give you the chance to try all the dishes. This menu will be available from October 26th to November 8th, 2025. Excellent place to go for lunch. This place was recommended to us because they knew it had excellent food. They'd told us about the chiles en nogada (a type of sauce made with duck, which is incredible, but true). I was curious, so I tried the duck chiles en nogada (a type of sauce made with duck, which is delicious, truly spectacular). Highly, highly recommended. There's no better place so far to eat something so delicious. The desserts? Not to mention, they're wonderful. This place is highly recommended. I hope you have the opportunity to come and enjoy it.

If you're looking for an excellent slow food restaurant, no TV screens (in my humble opinion, if you want to watch TV, you're better off staying home or going to a bar), and you want to enjoy excellent Mexican food, this is the place. The quality of the dishes is superb, and the service is excellent.
Excellent Mexican restaurant. It has a friendly, family-friendly atmosphere. Although the restaurant is called El Tajín, you'll find dishes from all Mexican cuisines. I recommend the lime soup, Veracruz-style tongue, and shrimp aguachile. During nogada season, you can find the traditional chile en nogada and their duck-stuffed chile relleno version. The service deserves a special mention: attentive, they know their timing and are available as soon as you call.
A truly authentic Mexican restaurant. Delicious, unpretentious food. The service is efficient, friendly, and discreet. It's somewhat hidden inside a building that offers other activities, but we're so glad we went in because it's already our favorite in Coyoacán. Everything is delicious.

One of my favorite restaurants. Wonderful terrace overlooking s garden. Great good. Unfortunately their wine list is quite small.
Great place to visit. El tajin is a member of the “slow food” restaurants movement. This slow food restaurant isn’t a disappointment whatsoever. The food is delicious and truly traditional, yet contemporary. The best part of the food is that everything is fresh and made from scratch (hence the term slow food ). They take their time but isn’t an awful wait. Besides, while you wait you can delight with the musical group “Arcadia y El Grupo Colibrí”. These musicians are beyond amazing. They bring to the ambiance not only traditional mexican music and exquisite performing skills, but they add a little twist and can perform international classic themes with Mexican instruments (like “La Vie Es Belle”, sang in french, or a Saint Louis blues, what about Piano Man by Billy Joel).... INCREDIBLE I fully recommend... A MUST when visiting the south of Mexico City !!

Whenever we come to Mexico City we try going to El Tajin. Food and service was always very good. The setting is nice.

We tried Tajín and the experience had some ups and downs, actually, with the service. There was a reasonable wait time, which didn't cause any problems. Once seated, we ordered chiles en nogada (which were actually good). A recurring phrase was "we're out of stock." We ordered two bottles of wine, of which we only got one. We asked for bread in the center (it never arrived), and the starter drinks took a long time to arrive. After reminding the waiters several times, they were friendly, but they left the table empty for a long time. The cheese flan is a must-try, and the carajillo is actually bad and could have been avoided altogether.
We didn't like our 2025 Christmas dinner takeout (guava-marinated pork loin and lasagna). The pork loin was very dry and tough; they gave us a white sauce to add to it, but it was still tough. The lasagna was just pasta, dough, with hardly any meat, and the sauce was dry too—just dough. DO NOT BUY YOUR CHRISTMAS DINNER HERE :(
I'm giving it 3 stars because of the poor service when making the reservation (Monday, September 15, 2025, 3:30 PM). I specifically asked if they had traditional chile en nogada, which they confirmed. I arrived on time, but the service was slow (only two servers). Surprise, they only had duck 😖. The place is nice, but on Mondays, even with 50% occupancy, there are only two servers!! If half the menu isn't available, they'd better close on Mondays and maintain an adequate level of availability and service.
The best pueblan Chile's en Nogada. Nothing else it's worth it.
