Opinions de Mi Fonda Ciudad De México
One of Mexico City's must-try restaurants. Authentic and delicious Valencian paella (the owner is Spanish). The place is cozy, and the service is very fast (be aware, they open at 11:00 AM and there's usually a line). The tables are communal (for four people), giving it a homey feel. They also offer options like Galician broth and fabada (Asturian bean stew). You have to come!
It's a great place to eat what I consider to be one of the best paellas you can find in Mexico City; the portions are very good for the price.
They've been selling paella for over 50 years. It's delicious and the price is good, along with soft bolillo bread and excellent-tasting Mexican salsa.
It's a very picturesque place, with the same style it has been serving for years. The place is small, but just enough to satisfy your hunger, the paella is very good. If there's room at your table, a stranger might be able to sit there because the place isn't very crowded, but it's not unpleasant. Highly recommended.
OMG. Had a meal there a few years ago. Their Paella was spot on. The ambience, including the owner & staff, is unforgettable....👍 Update Jun 2025 - Went back to this gem, and the Paella is still spot on. Also had the chicken soup which was awesome. Was glad to see the Senor & Senora welcoming the guests & keeping an eye over this gem
This food IS AUTHENTIC. The rabbit on mole was off the hook. The paella was one of the most deliciously prepared “real” paella…. No imitations.!!! Service was great and very personal. I was fortunate to get a parking spot right in front of this establishment. What’s more… is that the owner sat with me and my family to shoot the breeze for over an hour. NOW THATS PERSONAL SERVICE. I recommend this establishment and give it a 10 STAR RATING.
I really liked the Paella prepared in this restaurant ... whose flavor is Delicious !!!!!
The paella was very well served, fresh, and delicious. You have to share a table, but, in general, the diners who come here are quite respectful of each other's personal space. The owner is very attentive and friendly, always checking on everyone. If you arrive at mealtime, you'll have to wait in line, but it moves fairly quickly.
Unpretentious comedor in a busy center street. Contrary to others, they have beer. I had quesadillas with cheese and chicharron and they were very good. Home made corn tortillas were thin, crispy and tasted like fresh corn. Generous cheese filling, beautiful fine grind chicharron. Added some salt and a little chilli powder and it was very good. 1 beer and 2 quesadillas cost 60 pesos. That's $2.66.
... And it's not Mexican, it's Spaniard
I'd already been recommended the paella, and I went exclusively for that. It's tasty, but they're being sneaky because they serve it on a small plate and add a small mound of rice to make it stand out, along with two shrimp, two pieces of pork ribs, and a chicken leg that looked like pigeon, which seemed a bit pricey considering it was almost all rice. The custard was very good. Otherwise, the place is quiet and the service is good, although it seems a bit rundown. Just be careful when walking there, as the sidewalks are very narrow and some stalls take up half the space, which can be dangerous for older people.
Overall, I liked the food. They have a variety of dishes, and the place is small but quiet with good service. I liked the fabada; the beans were creamy, but I think the soup was too acidic. The paella dish tasted good, but I think it needed more seasoning and flavor, and I felt the protein was a bit dry, like chicken or pork.
I've known this place for over 15 years, however, it's deteriorated considerably since the pandemic. The mourner is a man of Spanish origin who has been sitting at one of the tables lately. There are two waitresses, one of whom is clearly in charge of managing the place, but they've forgotten about quality control and maintaining the small restaurant. It's deplorable that there's no toilet paper, not even for drying your hands, and the sink has a poor drainage system. It's a shame, since we've been customers for years.
July 4, 2023: They serve it on a small plate, and quite a lot spills. They should use a normal-sized plate that fits properly and looks nice, instead of everything falling apart. The traditional paella from the city center is delicious and highly recommended if you're in the area. The tables are shared, the service is fast, and everything is tasty and well-seasoned. The price of the paella is $120 as of April 16, 2022.
The food is good but so expensive!!!!
It's not really clean
The paella looked good, but when you sat down to eat it, the ingredients weren't clean enough, the quality of the ingredients wasn't good, I was disappointed.
