I have been going to Ells place for years now, its a nice quiet place to grab some coffee and decent priced meal. I like breakfast the best but lunch & supper are decent too!

Customer service was good. Food was great! I recommend the blueberry cobbler with Ice cream. Worth going just for a dessert date!

Very nice country cozy kitchen I got the catfish plate on Friday Which is all you can eat catfish. It was pretty good, good quality and quantity for the price.

Me and my family absolutely love coming here and getting breakfast! It is so yummy and the ladies are always so kind! Definitely our favorite place to go to get a homestyle breakfast!

This is truly a community experience. I don't think I've ever come in here and not run into at least one person I know, and usually more than one. It's like eating supper at home. Wait staff is like kin, except friendlier. The food is satisfying and delicious. I am eager to return each time I leave.

Ella has that country feeling from when you walk in to the bottom of your stomach. Great food and very friendly staff. Also want to give them a shout out for their awesome teamwork. Other restaurants should take notes.

I don't know how I've lived in the area my whole life and only recently stumbled across Ell's. This is our go-to breakfast place now, and their chicken fried chicken for lunch and dinner is delicious. Ell's Place is absolutely amazing. The food, the service, all of it. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Out of the way but worth the drive. What you would want in a home style restaurant ... great food and service. I had the chicken fried chicken and it may be the best ever. Also recommend the bone in chicken wings and okra. Give it a try!

I think a new fad is on the rise. Because of the flu your eating establishment are having a difficult time staying open. Well your mom and pop establishment Are opened outside of city limits. Home cooking is better than fast food any day. So it out on highway 4. Go try it for yourself.

My husband, 3 boys and I went to Ells for dinner before going to a Cleburne railroaders game. We drove 49 minutes from our hometown and we were not disappointed. The Chicken sandwich i had was very juicy and delishious. The boys had chicken strip baskets and loved them. My husband had a mushroom swiss burger and was very satisfied. We left full, happy and satisfied with food and service. I would recommend it to anyone in the area or just passing through.

I have tried several places ordering the chicken fried steak since moving to Cleburne. I have had grisels. So tough I couldn't cut with a knife, but my got it. Let me tell all who read this post, if you are searching for a GOOD TENDER chicken fried steak, go to ELLS PLACE. My friend and I had it yesterday and neither used the knife once. I had the Eastwood burger and it was amazing! Everyone who ordered food loved what they got. Price was very reasonable. We called in our order in the parking lot because they are only offering takeout under the circumstances and it was ready on time, if you don't want to wait I would call ahead. The corner store next door is worth a stop too, they had a great little selection of old fashioned sodas that went great with our burgers! Definitely will be back for some great food!

Great Breakfast/Burgers lunch menu is good and fish is awesome. I personally eat there clubs and burgers best in cleburne by far check them out you won't.be disappointed.

Best hashbrowns! Update 11/25: they still have the best hashbrowns! I did have lunch here recently also and everything was good. I do wish they served breakfast all day but oh well.

We had a date day awhile back and drove out to enjoy lunch. Its always a treat. A little off the beaten path, this little gem has the best burgers! The buns are perfectly toasted. If you are going to be in the area you should stop in and give it a try!

The place is very relaxed, and beautiful decorations. I got the Frito Salad and I give it 5 stars it was very good and I sure couldn't eat it all. I'm bringing my family here when they come up here. I provided a service for the property, and the facilities and kitchen were so clean and well kept. The employees who I dealt with were so nice and gave me a drink. My sister's fam are big fans too.

One of the best burgers you will ever eat. The fries are large and crispy and the servers are sweet and keep the coffee flowing. The biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns can't be beat.

I loved it! I got the meatloaf special and it was plenty of good food for the money. Apricot cobbler was a nice surprise, I don't see it on menus often. Fun, friendly server and they seated us where we had elbow room.

We ate breakfast here, and everything was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent.

We discovered Ell’s when another place in Hillsboro was closed so decided to try it out. AMAZING. We keep coming back. The food here is as good as it gets. Recommendations: Chicken Fried Steak, Mesquite Chicken (will surprise you), Mac and Cheese, Eastwood Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, COBBLER, and those cookies and breads they sell are all outstanding. One warning: once you go here you will find yourself making excuses to return again and again. I’m not exaggerating one bit.

Oh my gosh, I needed a “fix” of good old fashioned diner food and atmosphere and this was it! The Patty Melt was incredible and the chocolate cream pie has an Oreo crust. I wish I lived closer but Ell’s is on my list for when I’m in the Cleburne area.

Love the food. Have gone for breakfast & lunch for several years now. Everything we’ve eaten has been so good. Just had a small sized chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes & fried okra with peach cobbler. The steak was tender. All was yummy. Service is always excellent. Highly recommend

I was in the area and googled best burger near me. And Ells Place came up and it was 6mins away. I had the double cheeseburger with tots. It was delicious. They had a sign for catfish and being a southern fish fry on Friday guy I will come back for that. But today my mind was on a burger. Great job Ells!

Wow!! 😀 That was the best burger 🍔 I have had in years!! Excellent! The tomatoes & lettuce tasted so fresh as if it were just picked from the garden...the meat was fresh & was perfectly cooked. The french-fries 🍟 & onion-rings were the best. This was my first time at this location and we will definitely be returning, they have a great menu (I hear the all you can eat Catfish they have on Fridays is really good) The service was perfect 👌 I give them a 20+ out of a 1 to 10+ not to attentive but perfectly met all our needs without us having to ask for anything. (They ask you if you want Ranch with your onion-rings) !! 👍👍

The best burger in north Texas! The Saturday night steak is an incredible steak for the price. I also love the hand battered chicken tenders, the salads, and sweet potato fries.

We went there February 7th it was around 7;25 pm. Went to two state parks that day Mother Neff and Cleburne state park. On our way home I found your place on Google. Stopped here for some catfish on a Friday evening; we arrived early...around 5ish. Got seated right away, ordered food, received drinks quickly. My catfish was great! Server was pleasant & attentive. It's a short drive out of Cleburne, but we'll worth it. Not a big place & it was filling up as we were leaving. Would highly recommend!

We just moved to Cleburne a year ago and I found out about this place 2 weeks ago and we've been twice. All you can eat catfish was great, it was all hot and fresh. The hamburger the second time was phenomenal. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to eat. The pricing is very reasonable, not real inexpensive and not overly expensive at all.

Really good food. Most plates are 'Man' size. But they offer 1/2 plates. I know of quite a few people who travel over 25 miles to come eat here.

Looking for a new place to eat. This was pretty good. Had the meatloaf special, but hubby said mine is better. I say anything I don't have to cook and clean up after is terrific!

Small place that isn't cramped. Quite attentive and quite busy as well. Food was tasted great. Definitely a bit of a hidden gem to people that don't know it.

They have a really good mega appetizer sampler. Their burgers are good. Their grilled chicken salads need more work, but still good.

Ells Place is a joy to visit. Husband loved his chicken fried steak and the sweet potato fries were wonderful. Wish they had more things on the menu that were not fried, but it is probably what most of the customers enjoy. Our waitress was great and fun to talk to.

Good, old place, small but good

Very nice people working here!! Food was good!! Prices were decent as well!! Doesn't look like much on the outside but it's pretty neat to see the murals painted on the walls on the inside. This place was a suggestion from the lovely lady that runs the Gone With The Wind Museum about 8 miles up the road. She loves this place!! Definitely go to the museum it's worth it!!

Chicken fried steak special is advertised as local favorite but it was disappointing. Very pale , flavorless breading, meat was thin. The salad and beans were fine. The place was filled with locals. Maybe it wasn't my day to be impressed

Chicken salad sandwich was amazing. Perfectly flavored and I can't wait to have another one! My husband got the the chicken wrap and had the same experience. The waitress was great and attentive. I think the only downer was that my son and I didn't care for the meatloaf and mac and cheese. Other wise it was great!

Service is pretty good. Menu selection is great. I am not a fan of their chicken fried steak as it has a garlic flavor to it but if you like that then you will love it. Burgers are huge and taste pretty good. Overall a good place to eat.

This place is way on the outside of town about a ten-minute drive or more, but it's definitely worth the drive. The food was good and the service was good.

The food is not good. Nothing is fresh. Every thing tasted like it came out of a box or can. Ordered the Hamburger Steak and the patty was definitely frozen and the gravy tasted like the powdered mix you buy at the store. The onions were raw as well. Mac and Cheese is definitely boxed. Won’t go back. Prickly Pear and R&K are much better places.

Some of the food tasted great, nice little place, however i got sick after eating there. I won't ever eat there again. If i didnt git sick id give it 4 maybe 5 stars.

This was the worst food. I do not recommend this place at all. Hamburger steak was very dried out with no flavor. Chicken fried steak was the size of a steak finger. Corn bread was dry and no flavor. Oh the mashed potatoes were acceptable with gravy.

Too much salt and spices put on the food. Did not take into consideration some people may have dietary restrictions.

I tried the chicken fried steak & well the meat came out of the crust. You can tell it’s not fresh. Frozen. The mashed potato’s were not good & my grandson who’s 2 didn’t like the mac n cheese, how can you mess that up? Used to be good to get burgers a few years ago. Not sure what happened. Won’t be back.

I rarely share negative opinions of small businesses but our experience tonight was HORRIBLE. We specifically ate at Ells tonight because of all the high ratings online and we were severely disappointed. The all you can eat catfish was so thin is was like catfish jerky and none of us asked for more fish. When I asked for some lemons to help with the fish jerky, I was told they do not have fresh lemons, only a bottle of lemon juice.

I’ve ordered from here before and service and kindness has always been great. We live just down the road. We love supporting small family owned business. However, tonight after calling multiple times, (I assumed they were busy because it’s catfish Friday) on my third call a woman answered the phone, didn't even say “hello”. I wasn’t even able to speak before she rudely stated, “we don’t take take out orders on Fridays, yeah, bye!” And hung up. I am absolutely dumbfounded. She didn’t even know the reason I was calling because she never let me speak. Also, not every one knows their take out policy and there are certainly kinder ways to handle and speak to people. Not just ignore the phone because you assume it’s a take out request and then when you do answer be so absolutely rude. There is zero chance I would ever eat there or order from here again. Which is a shame because I know there are good hearted people that work there.
