We dined after graduation recently. We made a reservation on Open Table. Upon our arrival the table was already set up for us and we were immediately seated. Our waiter was Dario. He wasn’t sure on the bourbon selection but sent over the bartender to personally list them for my husband. We were a party of 5 and my oldest daughter greatly enjoyed her 2 mocktails and the Espresso martinis were my sweet spot. The appetizers were delicious, we had the crab cakes and Venisen sausage. Each plate had specific sides, my non veggie husband was able to substitute his veggie side with no problem. I had the short ribs, he had the filet, 2 others had the vegetarian mushroom and risotto. The other had the chicken. All plates were perfectly cooked and every side complimented eachother deliciously! As for deserts, we had the blackberry cobbler and bread pudding. The flow of the dinner went perfectly, we were not waiting in between courses for long. The decor and lighting were amazing, contemporary with a rustic feel. The lighting was dim which made us feel comfortable in our space. The waiter Dario did not rush us at all. We spent over 2 hours enjoying each others company. The pricing of plates was very reasonable considering the ambiance and service. The restaurant even validated our parking. If you have a chance please visit it definitely created a beautiful memory for our short one night visit in College Station! Not a single complaint from this family.
Samara was an excellent hostess, sharing her favorite dish recommendations. Mac, our waiter, was on point. We split the jalapeño cornbread with honey butter ( delicious!). Husband had the sloppy Joe and I had the salmon. Everything was delicious. We also had breakfast there and were so happy to enjoy the buffet. I had no problem getting my $25 worth! The bacon was not skimpy skinny slices and was crisp. Highly recommend!
Some friends and I came here for brunch while visiting College Station, Texas. The food was very tasty, and service was great. Even though our sever got a couple of things wrong with our order, he apologized and fixed them without hesitation. I would come back, and I certainly recommend!
Went here for my birthday in early December. What a great experience! Restaurant is beautiful. Very laid back but edgy contemporary feel. Staff was awesome. All were top notch, friendly and informative. I had the Honey Fried Chicken and it was as amazing as fried chicken can get, and the mashed potato tater tots were oh so good! Husband had the pork chop, one son had salmon and other son had tortilla soup with brisket tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious! Best yet was the Prickly Pear Margarita served table side and made with nitrogen. Sort of like having a college chemistry class at your table, and the young woman who prepared it was delightful. Apparently nitrogen creates the most perfect margarita you'll ever have. We'll definitely be back!
I’ve eaten at Brazos PTK numerous time, since their opening and this morning I had the best experience I’ve ever had. From their hostess Laisha, and her knowledge and explanation of the menu vs buffet and all the options available with the buffet, to the food prepared by Chef Aries! Suzanne our waitress has waited on us before and not only remembered my coffee order from last time we were here, but gave me menu options (how I’d like my egg cooked on my sandwich, etc) that I’d never been asked before. She is absolutely a joy to encounter and just brings a light to the morning! The staff was quite busy when we arrived, being only 2 servers and the supervisor Delaney they handled the rush well! No one seemed to wait for their food, tables got cleaned and reset by Laisha in a timely manner, there was never an unhappy patron that I saw! It was a great morning to be here and see such amazing team work by these 4 amazing and hard working women! And, to have a delicious sandwich from Aries as well!
Pratik was a great server.
Suzanne, the best waitress ever!!!
Great Food. Recommend tomohawk
Suzanne was awesome!
GOOD RIBS!!!! Amazing staff!
Will definitely visit again.
Very nice attention to detail.
Great ambiance
Brazos Proper Texas Kitchen in College Station is a must-visit for anyone craving bold, flavorful Texas cuisine. The Ribeye is outstanding, tender and smoky, while the sides, like the crispy brussel sprouts , are equally impressive. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. With a great selection of craft beers and cocktails, plus a delicious pecan pie for dessert, every part of the experience is top-notch. Highly recommended for a memorable meal!
I had a nice breakfast as a guest at the Texas A&M Hotel & Conference Center my last day in town. I ordered the Aggieland Scramble. It was tasty, but the side biscuits with gravy that come with it weren't flaky enough for my taste. They weren't bad, just a little disappointing. Service was prompt & courteous at 7:30am-ish. I had my coffee within a minute of being seated, and water and the OJ i requested. If I'm in town I think I'd eat elsewhere for lunch and dinner, but if you're a hotel guest this is your breakfast destination.
We went for Thanksgiving buffet. They had a nice selection of foods that weren’t just generic, but had a nice fancy twist. They weren’t too eclectic, so there’s always something for everyone. Staff was pretty much entirely students, who are very nice, and the service was great. Atmosphere is nice, and has a nice decor.
I picked up some food to go yesterday evening. I was greeted very warmly and had great customer service. The ambiance was very nice. I enjoyed the chips, salsa, fresh made guac and queso.
Julian is a great server! Efficient and professional! Food was really good too!
This was the best dining experience I've had in college station. The food was delicious. The service is first class and the atmosphere is perfect for family dining.
Outstanding staff! Food is so good and was brought out very fast. Could not recommend this place more!
Great restaurant! If you go here, request Megan or Izzy, they’re the best!
Delicious food and excellent service. Romantic setting and valet parking.
Excellent service, food was good, too expensive
Booked a reservation here to eat dinner after graduation and they were extremely accommodating. It wasn’t busy, quiet enough to talk so everyone could enjoy it. The food was good although it did take a really long time and it was hard to get service for drink refills. Other than that it was great.
We had dinner here on Saturday night. Dairo was our waiter, and he was wonderful! He made great suggestions. The steaks were great of course, but the Brussel sprouts were the star of the show!! A must order if you are going!
In College Station, TX and looking for a bite to eat. Try Brazos! They have a variety of food choices (including vegan /vegetarian) to enjoy at average 4 star restaurant prices. Professional and courteous service from the staff. I suggest you use OpenTable to secure a reservation during convention and football games. I highly suggest the vegan chili and salmon. I enjoyed my time here and will consider them again.
I was CRAVING salmon and was so excited to come here. I was exhausted, training was rough and I just wanted a relaxing dinner. Started off with a salad and it was tasty. Wished it had more items for it being extra but I didn’t want to complain. I ordered my salmon medium rare and it was well done and dry. The grits and broccolini saved the dish overall but the salmon was super disappointing. I definitely recommend the carrot cake. That was amazing and big enough for two! Rylan, our server was super attentive and helpful. I wish him well with his future plans! Overall I would do this restaurant again, but I would definitely order something that has less chance of being dry if overcooked
Poorly staffed, long waits, stale bagels, couldn't get service to order coffee until very late into our meal, they were missing condiments. And that was just the buffet. Avoid Edit: The next day we returned for breakfast and obviously they had received a lot of feedback and made immediate corrections. There was self serve coffee and juice, increased staffing, and we were promptly seated. Everyone was friendly and attentive so I've changed my review from 2 to 4 star. Thanks for everything.
Our group had a nice quiet dinner with good food. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Service was good too. Crab cakes, flat bread, & salads were very good.
Service is fantastic, the food could use some improvement however.
The food is tasty, with fresh ingredients and omelets and scrambles well prepared. The service is sub-par. All waiters/waitresses are friendly but seem to always get something wrong - from meal ingredients to bills (This is based on three consecutive days of breakfast visits.). The most ridiculous policy, however, is that they won't seat you at a table until 15 minutes after arrival, even when the restaurant is 90% empty. What's so difficult about seating people, giving them a glass of water, and having them wait comfortably at a table while they read the news on their laptops, have a conversation with their friends, etc.?
I had breakfast here with some colleagues during a conference. The food was okay. Service was terrible. The restaurant has potential, but definitely has some things to work out.
The Impossible sloppy Joe was surprisingly good. The "salad" served on the side was terrible -- just lettuce and croutons and Parm, which isn't a salad at all. The service was inexplicably very slow, given that there were literally eight people in the restaurant and at least two staff.
Coffee is terrible but for is OK. Marginal for a place that has potential
First some context I have owned a restaurant and a couple bars. The only reason this review didn't get zero stars was because the bartender Michelle is a personal hero of mine now. My family came into town for the george strait concert. An event known by all in the area for a long time in advance to have over 100,000 people in attendance. Please tell me why they have ONE bartender working by herself with absolutely NO HELP. she was serving over 100 people at one point BY HERSELF. She maintained her composure and professionalism while the manager sat back and watched her drown. Food was poorly made and cold while taking over an hr to get to the table. Mind you they were simple appetizers. Michelle YOU ROCK! Great drinks great service under pressure despite being heckled by guests and having more tabs walked on than I could count. You deserve a raise my friend. Brazos management needs to be re-educated on how to run a restaurant. I can only imagine the amount money lost from walked tabs and comped meals because of poorly made cold food.
The service was good but the breakfast buffet was anything but fresh. Waste of money.
Food was good. Bar food. College station water is disgusting. You all should be filtering the water or serving bottled water. The water tastes like it came out of a pond. Same taste as it did during college. Not ok for an expensive hotel. If you can’t filter the water properly, serve bottled water.
Service needs a lot of improvement. Finally had to get out dessert to go and leave..
Not worth the money. Not even if it's convenient staying at the hotel. We had dinner. We started with truffle fries. If there was ANY truffle oil it wasnt much. I saw the man in the open kitchen pull out frozen fries which was a disappointment already. My husband had the burger. He took one bite and put it back on his plate. It had zero seasoning. I had the Gulf shrimp and risotto. Lord the risotto was bland, I have no idea how they messed the shrimp up so bad but they did, and then they.covered the entire plate in what I can only guess was sweet baby rays BBQ sauce. I took one bite and also put my fork down. The waitress was rarely seen and we had to get up to ask for assistance and our check. I assume this is a learning facility. Hoping it is a learning facility for their sakes. Too expensive to leave 2 full plates of food. .
Waited an hour for food just for it to be cold and not completely what was ordered. Completely messed up on the drink, simple, half peach half unsweet, after two attempts just stuck with the water. Had to track down waitress to pay the bill as well.
DO NOT EVER GO HERE!!!!! 15 min at hostess stand before anyone came Lost our reservation No plates for our appetizer No glassware for wife’s wine - 45 min to get glass of wine No availability of selected sides No brisket for the brisket platter Blandest guacamole ever 1 hour 30min to get food Food was cold, shrimp undercooked Restaurant wasn’t even busy. Almost empty Dried Spinach or lettuce on the lip of our cocktail glass Menu prices are actually $32-$60, NOT $20-$30 as advertised
The waitress was rude and confrontational, she forgot all of the items of food we ordered and drinks, then she got offended when i reminded her. Then she chased me down in the lobby to confront me on my tip and continued to scream nasty language in front of hotel staff and my kids!
Don’t think you will get options from the advertised menu on their website or open table even after making reservations. Showed up to a breakfast buffet only similar to a cheap hotel free buffet. Not worth $16/person but too late to go elsewhere. Very disappointed.
The place is very beautiful. But the food is so bad. The chef has no idea about how much salt or sugar to put into the dishes. So they are either way too salty or way too sweet. I was still hungry afterwards because the food is inedible. Also we waited for almost an hour for the food to come. It is a business lunch for the university. Personally, I would never go there myself.
I came with my family to try to enjoy a nice Mother's Day lunch but instead came across many problems that I wouldn't expect from a "high quality" restaurant. When I first arrived despite having a reservation set, I still had to wait another 20 minutes before I could get seated, and then the meal was overpriced for the low quality and taste of the food. Definitely had higher expectations, then to top it off in the middle of our meal we heard arguing and it definitely ruined our experience. Would not be coming back anytime soon.
We visited the restaurant for the Mother's Day Brunch and it was no where near what we have experienced the past 2 years that we have dined there. For the price we paid, it was NOT worth it. The food was cold in the serving stations, had to consistently ask the employees to restock the food so we could have some, stacks of dirty dishes were just being added to on tables that still had customers on them, and we the food selection was very minimal. We will not be going back next year.
Terrible experience! We went there at 11:50 AM on a busy Monday, sat there for over an hour and ten minutes. They said we’re still working on your food!!! Left the place, since we had an appointment and couldn’t stay any longer! Not recommended!!!
This is far from a Proper Texas Kitchen. I recently dined at Brazos, and while our server told us that the kitchen was under new management and had just hired a new chef, the experience left much to be desired. Despite the heads-up, I was still shocked at how far the quality fell below the premium pricing. The meal began with a charcuterie board that was an immediate disappointment. It featured Ritz club crackers and cubed cheese—far from the sophisticated presentation one would expect. Following this, I had the lobster bisque soup, which was another letdown. It was overly salty, thin in texture, and completely lacked the rich, layered flavor that defines a proper bisque. The main course didn’t fare much better. While the steak was flavorful, it was not cooked to the requested temperature. Although the staff offered to fix it, the rest of the meal had already left a poor impression. The sides were borderline inedible: both were so over-salted that they overshadowed any other potential flavors. The twice-baked potato had an odd, unpleasant consistency, and the risotto was bland and lifeless, offering nothing of the creaminess or seasoning you’d expect. The whole table maybe took one or two bites of their sides before giving up. It felt like they were trying to serve uninspired, generic food at a high price point. However, I must highlight that our server was incredible—attentive, professional, and clearly doing their best under the circumstances. Unfortunately, even the excellent service couldn’t save the experience. While I understand growing pains with a new chef, the quality fell so short of expectations that I won’t be returning anytime soon. For the price, I expected far better.
