Canteen Bar & Grill

The food is really tasty. They make their own BBQ outside. Food is fresh and tasty. Their cocktails are interesting and a good pour of alcohol without over pouring. They have great live music here as well. Great place to eat an appetizer or dinner. Fantastic atmosphere.

The atmosphere, build out, and food were excellent. The server, despite telling us she worked there all the time, was slow and forgetful, and things moved a bit slowly. But the restaurant was great and again the food was surprisingly good. Wife had the mahi mahi tacos which were great. Daughter had the grilled chicken sandwich. I had the burger. Son had the chicken sliders which were huge. Nice patio by the pool. Location of restaurant is great, located in a walkable shopping district across from the University.

What a clean and beautiful restaurant. The service was impeccable. Bella was our waitress and she was so courteous and attentive. The food was delicious and we loved the various sitting areas. The garage doors opened up to a nice patio overlooking the pool at the Calvary Court hotel that was part of this property. It was nice to walk from our hotel room to this gem. The drinks were great and the vibe is very laid back and casual. We enjoyed our visit and will be back.

We always have a good time here. The drinks, the apps, the salads are all great. The ambience is perfect especially with the live music. Tierney was our server on our last visit Friday night. She was helpful, attendant, & a hustler! Everything came out right.

This place is right inside a big area of retail/hotel/dorms that was in the middle of everything. Got the wings and crispy deviled eggs for apps and boy did they hit! Not sure how they did the eggs, but everyone at the table loved them. The burger was nice and big. Cooked just right and cut easily into 2 pieces. Good portions and presentation. Bring your appetite, because you wont go hungry!

My husband and I headed over to Canteen Bar & Grill on a Friday evening between semesters around 6:30 to grab something to eat and to enjoy some live music. The weather was perfect to sit out on the patio. There we ran into several friends who also came to hear the local band, Against the Grain. They are awesome. There was one young man serving the patio area and he did an awesome job considering the number of people. My husband had a grilled chicken sandwich and I had a burger which we really enjoyed. Delish! We parked in the parking garage at Century Square at no charge.

Atmosphere is great, and the food is even better! The price is a high but the portions you get are excellent 👌 stuffed while writing this. Drinks were great. Definitely a must try wether your a local or just visiting college station!

The food here was good, and the ambiance was nice. I was impressed by the staff's willingness to accommodate dietary restrictions as well. When asked whether the pea risotto contained dairy, they ended up just making it dairy free instead of substituting it for something else.

Hotel bars are commonplace. It makes sense to offer an on- site bar and restaurant because guests like the convenience, even if the food and drink is a little overpriced. Such is the case with Canteen Bar & Grill, a bar and eatery located at Cavalry Court Hotel in College Station, Texas. Canteen Bar & Grill is a generally comfortable place for food and drink. There is a sense of togetherness when you eat and drink here, which is par for the course at this hotel. The long tables are like those of a cafeteria, perfect for conversing with others. If you want a little more privacy, you can find private tables, too. And if you like the ambiance of a fire, there is a fireplace you can cozy up next to with drink in hand. This establishment often features live music, and it can get quite loud. It’s best to ask for a table on the far end, away from the band if you don’t want the distraction. If you like the outdoors, there is outdoor seating, too, close to the hotel pool. Keep in mind that this open end of the establishment is where the band is usually playing. Even though you’re outside, you won’t have any trouble hearing the tunes. I like the food and drink at Canteen Bar & Grill. I usually go for the Cavalry burger, chicken sandwich, pork nachos, or sliders when I visit. There is a decent beer selection and a good number of specialty cocktails. The one issue I have is the prices- if you like cocktails and plan on downing several, you need to make sure to bring along plenty of cash because the cost will add up quickly. This is why I recommend visiting during happy hour, if possible, when the appetizers and drinks are cut down in price. Hotel restaurants and bars are usually a little overpriced, but they offer convenience and Canteen Bar & Grill certainly fits the definition of what I expect in a hotel bar and grill, but with a little bit more. The fireplace, live entertainment, respectable beer selection, and friendly service are enough to earn this establishment an above average rating and recommendation. Forget about the higher prices and enjoy yourself!

We had horrible service, had to literally ask anyone walking by for stuff. Dirty plates were left on table next to us the whole time we were there. Food was served cold. Our waitress was not attentive at all. Several of us got sick from Eating there. The atmosphere is nice and chill. The fireplace burning was a nice touch. This place is badly managed and servers need more training on how to help guests. We had a variety of food. The waffle was dry. The hangover and soldiers breakfast were cold. Nothing had any seasoning.

I finally went to the bar and asked for the manager. They had to go across to another building to get him. Food may be great, but I wouldn’t know. College kids standing around drinking a beer seemed to be enjoying themselves, but a middle aged man wanting to eat doesn’t seem to be a priority.

Typically wait about 30 minutes before being noticed by servers and 15-20 minutes between empty drink glasses. Drinks are around 15 per, food is solid. I'm an undergrad who appreciates finer things if that helps your perspective on my opinion. First time being here was sitting on the patio for around 30 minutes before flagging down a server to order food and drinks for my Mom and Fiancee. Came with my fiancee for our anniversary, sat at the bar and saw the bartender lady's back for about 85% of the time we were there. Drinks empty for a while before being offered or glasses taken. FORGOT TO OPEN A TAB. The magnum opus of a horrible experience was most recently when my parents came down to visit, sat around 30 minutes before flagging down a server, a lady with name spelling Tyranny of some variation. No introduction, had an attitude, and unfriendly. My father is 7 years sober and explicitly ordered a cranberry spritzer, no alcohol, and the server confirmed. Came back with our orders with it having tequila. Flagged another server who got our original who came to "apologize" and confirm that what my father got WAS what he ordered and that he was wrong. What a way to shoot yourself in the foot. Management clearly does not care, this place smack dab in Century Square could clearly rake for a fellow Aggie undergrad server, staff is disinterested in providing a quality of service that matches the venue and prices. Insane.
