My trip to Porter’s with my girlfriend celebrating Valentine’s Day was exceptional. As college students, we don’t dine at higher end restaurants that often, so tonight was certainly a treat. Our waiter, Sebastian, was a fantastic server! In the categories of accuracy, friendliness, and professionalism, Sebastian knocked it out of the park. He was incredibly personable and was a huge contributor to the overall experience being as great as it was. If you have the opportunity to ask for him as your server, I’d highly recommend you do. The filets were cooked perfectly, the crab cakes were delicious and the strawberry cheesecake was fantastic. We’ll definitely be dining here again for our next celebration. P.S. - Sebastian, if you’re seeing this, Katie and I are rooting for the Patriots for you!
Porter’s is easily one of my favorite spots in College Station. The dining experience is always excellent, great service, perfectly cooked steaks, and amazing sides (the cornbread is a must!). They’ve got a fantastic whiskey selection and probably the best Old Fashioned in town. The bar can be a little slow at times, but it’s worth the wait. Classy place with a relaxed vibe — always a solid choice.
We hosted our son‘s wedding rehearsal dinner at Porter’s and I was so thrilled with the way the whole evening went. Derek and Ainsley, Porter’s event coordinators, were amazing to work with from the minute we started planning this event. They covered every detail and Ainsley was on hand during the event to coordinate timing and make sure everything ran smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious, the servers were attentive, kind and helpful. Everything was wonderful and I am so grateful!
This newly discovered (by me at least) restaurant is so delightful. The food is top tier (best crab cakes I've ever tasted!). The old debate is how much variety there is: lots of variety that is hit and miss as to quality of food and its preparation, or a smaller but fairly broad variety, made with the freshest, real made-from-scratch ingredients (no packaged foods!), each cooked to perfection. Personally I prefer the latter. The chef and his staff are diligent in researching which foods might contain a spice allergy, and all the staff are so welcoming and cordial they ought to be training other service staff. They are thoughtful, proactive, quick to see what is needed but not hovering. Our waiter, Cesar, was such a delight! He was caring, he double checked on the allergy with the chef, who himself re-checked food ingredients, and he is so happy that his attention to our needs completely improved and enhanced our meal. I will certainly return.
Great crab cakes! Addison is also very sweet and did a wonderful job. Best in this area of Texas. Although they are slightly pressed, they are still delicious. The brunch is also amazing. I recommend the filet medallions w/ scrambled eggs.
For the fourth consecutive time, Porters provided an exceptional experience for our Christmas party! Derek and his team handled each detail exactly as I requested. I am relieved to have such a professional, competent partner - not to mention a fine, delicious meal to celebrate Christmas and a great year! Derek had many events at multiple venues going on simultaneously. He still made me feel confident, appreciated, and special. Thank you, Derek and Porters, for another lovely event.
We’re locals but had not yet made our way to Porter’s. We were so pleasantly surprised by our experience. Our server, Ezekiel, was a delight. He was knowledgeable of the menu, attentive, and personable. We really enjoyed our steaks, and we loved the brussel sprouts and crab cakes. Wine and cocktails were also great. Looking forward to adding this to our rotation of restaurants and recommending the outstanding service to friends in town.
Went to Porter and honestly had a great time. The vibe is low-key but dialed in. It feels like a place you could roll into after a long day and just let the food do its thing. The real MVP of the night was Cody and cornbread. Huge thanks to Cody for hooking it up. That cornbread was unreal. Warm, perfect texture, just straight comfort food done right. One of those bites where everyone at the restaurant goes quiet for a second. Service was solid, atmosphere was relaxed, and the menu clearly has some thought behind it without trying too hard. Definitely coming back, and if Cody’s around… I already know what I’m ordering. CORNBREAD
I’m sorry if this is a little long-winded, but I took a little bit of time to go over some of porters reviews so let me put it to you like this for the ones who give porters a one star for one if you complain about the service being slow That is what fine dining is about. It is about building better bonds and friendships with your family and coworkers it’s not a fast food restaurant so if that’s what you’re looking for then go there don’t complain about the service being slow when you are in a fine dining place. Second of all For the ones that complain and say the food is too high or they charge for ice do you think their water bill is free and once again you are in a fine dining restaurant enough with my rant and raves, I have a birthday coming up December 16. I’m hoping to be able to make it to my own birthday a little over a year ago. My wife and I stopped in and had dinner as we tried to every time we go watch a home Aggie game long story short if you’re still there this sweetheart’s name was Meredith how I remember her so well it’s because it was our anniversary and she made my wife and I Feel so special and that’s what I like about fine dining, quiet, laid-back and slow pace because that is what fine dining is about! Will you plan on coming in for my birthday so if you were still there at Meredith on sometime around my birthday I would love for you to wait on my wife and I and a few guys from the company. And to Porters you deserve 10 stars so don’t listen to the crazy one star people they don’t know what fine dining is about my opinion. You guys have the best steaks this side of Texas. I have been meaning to leave this review, but I travel so much. I just forgot to do it. so first thing first from the time I walked through that door until I left my waitress, I believe her name was Meredith. Matter of fact, I know it was. That’s how big of an impression she made on me. she look like John Wayne in a shootout getting stuff done and I’m not meaning Look wise either I mean and fast and professional so here Within The next year I’m going to be coming back that way and I would like to hope my conference in college Station it’s going to be between 60 to 80 individuals and we would definitely love for when it’s over me and some guys plan on coming that way and I hope she still works there because I definitely want her for our table. And by saying her, I mean, Miss Meredith, it would be amazing if you would be my waitress again and for anybody and everybody who reads this if you want the best steak, you have ever put in your mouth and very good service porters dining Yes, where I 100% recommend everyone to go. It is a unforgettable experience porters. Keep up the good work thanks again, William Rockefeller.
Staff was amazing and attentive. Food was phenomenal steaks cooked to perfection! Cant wait to dine again! Rachel was such a great server!! Get the dessert!!
Our association hosted a dinner for about 20 people in the Rancher Room and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Derek on the event staff helped me make sure every detail was taken care of. The staff was wonderful to work with - organized, accommodating and very friendly. The meal was absolutely delicious and everything was served promptly and with great attention to detail. We truly appreciated the warm hospitality and would gladly return for future events. Highly recommended!
My husband and I love trying new restaurants to visit and by chance he discovered Porters serves breakfast. We were so surprised because we thought they only served dinner. What impressed me the most initially was the customer service, we were greeted by everyone on staff and seated promptly. The ambiance is great both indoors and outdoors. There are fire pits on site for evenings with streamed lights on patio which would be so romantic in the evening. I ordered breakfast tacos with brisket beef and coffee. They brought fresh baked cornbread in a cast iron Dutch oven with honey butter for the table. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. This is our new favorite in town!! So excited we found this place. Our waitress was amazing, super attentive, and friendly. Our host was top notch also. Oh and the music was great, not too loud, and great selection of music. Thanks Porters for proving breakfast. We appreciate the great service too and yummy food.
We treated my daughter & her friends to dinner for her birthday and she loved it. Derek, the Events & Catering Director, was so patient and a huge help in planning this special night. Ainsley, the Events Coordinator, kept me informed the whole night & was so sweet. My daughter loved the waitress as well, saying the service was great. Her name was Rachel. Last but not least, my daughter told me everyone loved their food, and she loved her pork chop, mashed potatoes & brussel sprouts. Thank you Porter’s! We’ll be back!
I recently hosted my husband 's surprise 40th birthday party at Porter's with over 50 guests, and it was absolutely perfect! Derek and his team went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of - from setup to the service, everything was seamless. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and warmth made the entire evening so special and truly memorable for us and our guests. I can't recommend Porter's enough and will definitely be using them again for any future event!
Beautiful experience! Great food at this dining establishment, starting with the sweet cornbread. We had the black and bleu salad, the salmon and a filet special. The salad was fresh, and the beef was so tender! The salmon dish was cooked perfectly and came with a yummy cheesy risotto and broccolini (I substituted the outstanding brussel sprouts). Their beef is a really great choice: don't really need a knife to cut the filet! Great service and a nice atmosphere.
I’ve been to Porter’s a handful of times, and the food and service have always been wonderful. My husband took me for my birthday lunch today, and it ended up being the highlight of my day. The service was truly exceptional this time around. Our server, Meredith, was an absolute gem! warm, thoughtful, and made me feel genuinely celebrated from the moment she greeted our table. She wished me a happy birthday nearly every time she stopped by, which made me feel so special. Her kind spirit made a lasting impression. I even received a handwritten birthday card with my dessert, which was such a meaningful and personal touch. I recently lost my mom less than two months ago, and moments of kindness from others have been helping me through. Meredith’s warmth and care made this birthday feel truly special and comforting. The food was, as always, delicious. I’m eight months pregnant and had been craving the Brussels sprouts, so happy I got to enjoy them! The cornbread with honey butter was amazing, and the salmon with risotto was cooked to perfection. The chocolate cake was rich and satisfying, and I kept the beautiful orchid from the dessert plate along with my card as a keepsake. Thank you, Porter’s, for such a memorable and heartfelt birthday experience.
Always good, never disappoints. Good atmosphere, great service, amazing chefs back there making amazing food - that's why this place is always in our CS loop! Try the Cast Iron Mac and Cheese, you'll be glad you did.
Really good food. Great service from the hostess our waiter was really nice. Very attentive. The resturant was very empty which was nice. When we went one of the managers had to fix a problem at a table it was only my husband and I and the other couple. I thought the manager would see how we were doing she didn't when we were leaving she looked at us and put her head back in her computer kind of expect a manager to be more friendly oh well. The hostess thanked us again for coming. Our waiter did too, thanked us as we were leaving. Will definitely return, my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves.
This is a good steakhouse no doubt. The steak carpaccio was excellent. The greens went perfectly to the thin slices of beef. Very tasty. The skillet cornbread is a highlight! I had the ribeye which was again very good. I would not say that was exceptional though. The Brussels were very good. Crispy and had balsamic generously soaked. The sides in general were not enough to share with many people. Two people is fine. 3 or 4 not enough. Service people were very nice. Service seemed a bit slow. But I’m from NY area so maybe it was just the culture here. The interior of the restaurant is what I expect for a higher end steakhouse. Great wine selection. I would have to try other places to compare for the area. I think it’s worth stopping.
Came here for a birthday dinner. Really confusing to find the main entrance to this place. We ordered street tacos and cornbread to start. Both were fantastic. I would love the cornbread recipe! My partner had the wagyu chicken fried steak, my mom and Aunt had the salmon platter, and I had the 8oz Fillet. Everyone seemed to enjoy their choice. I ordered my steak medium well and it came out well done and dry. I really did not like any of the steak sauce options, but I went with a peppercorn sauce. It was not really for me. As for the sides, we had macaroni and Brussels sprouts. They were amazing! I would come back just for the mac and cornbread! We tried some sort of banana and ice-cream dessert. I would make a different choice next time around. To finish on a positive note, the margarita was on point!
My wife and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and we wanted to enjoy a good steak dinner with a bottle of wine. We live about 1.5 hours from College Station in the rural country. My wife used the internet to find a nice restaurant and apparently Porter's website convinced her we should celebrate there. Kudos to the webmaster. Our experience was very poor. We got there early around 5pm. We announced our 50th anniversary to our waiter. We purchased an $85 bottle of wine. I ordered the premium 14oz Ribeye costing $53 and my wife ordered an 8oz Filet costing $47. My wife and I were enjoying memories of the last 50+ years while the wine came out. Shortly our steaks came out. After eating several bites of my steak I came to realize that it was not a ribeye nor was it "premium". It was a New York Strip steak. My wife and I continued celebrating and she ate half of her steak, which was very good, and offered me the other half, which I ate. When the waiter came around I did not want to make a big fuss about my steak since my wife and I were having a great time talking with each other. I told the water that my steak was not a "premium" ribeye steak and I would not be finishing it. He apologized but did nothing else except bring us our check. No offer to make an adjustment for the error in steaks, no offer of a "free" dessert for our anniversary nor for the error in steaks. We will never go back and I will tell everyone I know not to dine at this restaurant.
I live near by so I thought to give it a try. I must say it was one of the worst Rib eye stakes I have ever had, mainly becuse , by the time they brough it, after a good 20-25 minutes wait, the food was less than even lukewarm. I was way too hungry to return it and wait another 25 minutes. Not only the high price did not justify the food. The service was horrible. I was sitting in the balcony. It seems the lazy waitress had let the food seat on the counter for a long time. I will never go back and tell everyone, not to and how terible this place is. If you want the best steak, do take the time and go to that Brazilian resurant. Their food and selection of various meats worth every penny and more. Good luck.
