been here a couple times and every time, the service is amazing and SO fast, the fish quality is superb, and the environment is so clean. the wait staff are so friendly and welcoming and will get you whatever you need in a timely manner. my new favorite sushi spot in the East Bay!!!
I've been coming here since they opened. Not once have I ever had a bad experience or found the food or service lacking. They've honestly only gotten better since the beginning. Love that they are open fairly late some days. Had a lovely table for 1 last night and enjoyed every second. Will be back, as usual.
I came here last year November and I loved it since then. I first tried their happy hour and I was not disappointed. The prices was very reasonable and the chefs choice sashimi was so delicious! I got two desserts. The Mochi coffee is fantastic as well. I look forward to come back again 😃
If you are looking for a no nonsense place to eat a diverse variety of Americanized sushi, this is it. This place is not fancy, it has no crazy Japanese overnighted sashimi, but it does have amazing quality food with an excellent taste. I would call this a must visit for their rolls. Best part, they are open very late and the prices are way too low (only restaurant I recall where menu prices are scratched out with a LOWER price written instead; how cool and retro is that?). Service is top notch as well, can't go wrong and I have been back multiple times.
The food quality to price is always incredible. Never been disappointed here
Great food, happy hour menu has a lot on it including rolls and dinner dishes, service was friendly, and the sushi rolls were out in less than 10 minutes!
Wow! Had a delicious and absolutely HUGE lunch. Found this place on accident and plan to come back with friends very soon. The food is delicious and the vibe is fantastic. Definitely go for lunch.
I’m not a big sushi person, but genuinely enjoyed this restaurant along with my family. It had a great selection of food items to choose from, really kind and welcoming staff, and the restaurant was spacious. The dragon and lion rolls were my favorite but odds are you’ll enjoy whatever items you choose.
Very friendly service, the waitress was so nice and attentive, and kept coming back to check on us. We're all happy with our food. The food was tasty and the fish was fresh. The portion was generous and the price was quite reasonable. It's definitely one of the best Japanese restaurant in Concord. We'll surely come back. As a added bonus, they open until.11:30pm.
This is our favorite sushi spot. The food is so ono (delicious). You can't go wrong with the bento combos, rolls or nabeyaki soup dishes. The food portions are large here. The prices are on par with any other Japanese restaurant. The service is great with really friendly servers. Try this place if you are in the area. ALOHA!
I went there on Thursday after my wife had an appointment with the surgeon she is having a surgery and we had lunch it was the most fresh delicious food the California rolls are the best around my wife got the salmon bento box and quality was Unreal the tempura was Awesome everything was great the water had a little slice of lime in it the service was perfect people are super nice the atmosphere is great. It was a good ending to a not so good day thank you can't wait to go again
Best customer service I have ever found in Concord. Very polite and helpful. The food and portion and price wise was excellent. I can't believe I didn't try this earlier. I would recommend to all my friends and family to go here. I was not disappointed at all. I will definitely be back.
Lunch : Big portions. great price! Great service!

The teriyaki was amazing both the beef and the chicken. The Miso soup is probably the best in town.

Had good meal. Service quick friendly and pleasant. Nice Happy Hour menu. Good music not too loud so conversation easy.
Might be my new favorite sushi restaurant. Everything we ordered was enjoyable, but the Kansai roll takes the cake. Possibly the best sushi roll I have tried in a long time. Will be back.
I ordered takeout from this sushi spot and was really impressed. The sashimi was fresh, tender, and full of flavor. Everything was packaged neatly and ready on time, which made the pickup super easy. Even though it was takeout, the quality was just as good as dining in. I’ll definitely be coming back here whenever I’m craving sushi.
This is my go-to sushi place because they have my favorite, the Lion King Roll! They also have some insanely good cocktails, including a few that use sake! I don't see that at many places.
We come here frequently. Service tonight was excellent, our server Josh (whose section we are often in) was attentive and friendly. The food was great: yellowtail nigiri, john roll, Telegraph roll, and S.P. rainbow roll; we were hungry but still didn't finish it all
This spot was introduced to me by a friend. I recommend trying the Wendy roll, California roll, miso soup, any sashimi or nigiri and sea weed salad . These are what I have tried so far . The service here is outstanding!! Good environment when dining in or picking up.

We came here a week ago and now we are coming a lot to here. We ordered 4 different kind of rolls and let me tell you, it’s really good! The place is big, nice, and clean but the customer service is a little off. Workers barely understand English and took a lot of time to make the sushi. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re craving sushi.
Was starving for Japanese food after spending almost the entire morning at Tiffany & Co.; found this place through Yelp. Not too busy as there is a 99 Ranch Market literally next door. Ordered a 3 item bento (chicken teriyaki, CA roll & tonkatsu) and some appetizers. Tore through everything except for the chicken; teriyaki sauce was a little on the sweet side. Other than that, food was outstanding. May visit again if we're in the area.
Cool sushi place with amazing service. I tried the veggie gyoza and mixed veggies sushi. Loved the gyoza and didn’t hate the veggies roll. My friends tried lots of different things there and they liked them all. Recommend checking out this place, I might go back there if I was in the neighborhood.
One of my go-to spots for Sushi. They have never let me down, whether in Oakland or Walnut Creek. The Bento box lunch special is always a great tasting and healthy win for a not too heavy lunch. The staff are always nice and it's always a nice chill vibe.

The food here was pretty good. Rather standard prices for sushi in the area ($8-$13 per roll), the service was decent. Once we sat down and ordered some appetizers (agedashi tofu and edamame, both very good) we were left alone...for about 35 minutes without anyone taking the order for our rolls. Our server was on the other side of the sushi bar munching on food while we waited for sometime to take our order. We had to flag down the food runner to take the order. We got 4 rolls, the lion king, the Philly, the cucumber, and the 007. All the rolls were quite good so no complaints there. We decided since it was our friend's birthday to go ahead and get dessert as well. The waitress, at this point she finished her meal, comped our friend's dessert for her birthday. She had the mango mochi, my wife got the chocolate mochi, and I got the green tea cheesecake that I scoped out from home. I don't think any of us was expecting the cheesecake that they brought to the table...I mean, look at this thing! It was so small, I almost thought it was a joke. We were dying trying not to laugh at the miniscule stature of this little guy. The flavor was a mild matcha and the whole thing was frozen so it wasn't very enjoyable texturally. TL;DR the food here at Kansai is quite good, the pricing is pretty standard, the service was a bit lackluster, and if you want dessert I would go elsewhere.
The service was good. The cashier offered me water while I waited for my food (I ordered the TaiFish). The food came out hastily and was very fresh and hot however the menu says that you get 6 pieces of fish and I only received 5. It's not a huge deal, however, I did spend around $13.95 which is a bit pricey for an appetizer already and especially for an appetizer that was shorted. I would give 5 stars if it had not been for that.

Arrived & sat at the sushi bar. Had to flag down a waiter after 20 minutes to ordered some rolls. Completely ignored after that. Attempted to order from the sushi chef (in picture on the left) who acknowledged the order, but never attempted to make the rolls. For the first time ever, I asked for the manager, but no manager was on duty. Another first for my wife & I was leaving exact change W/no tip. The staff failed at all levels.........
This used to be my all time favorite sushi spot until now. I placed an order for pickup & the avocado in the California Roll was literally black. When I called the restaurant they said it happens when the Avocado is exposed to the air 🤣🙄😒. Yeah no I just picked it up no more than 10 minutes ago. It won't turn black that quick. I luckily got a refund through GrubHub because I literally lost my appetite
Sorry, The server dropped our water at the table and it went all over the floor. They wipe up a little bit and left the rest to dry which took a while. Our shoes stayed wet most of the time there. They took over 30min to address our table. Once the dishes came my daughter and I were disappointed because our sushi wasn't very good. The tuna in the rolls were quite dry. Also, the single Roll I ordered had what felt like a piece of a toothpick in it. I took a bite and it became stuck between my teeth. We chose not to eat anymore. However, my other daughter and son enjoyed their meals. Although, it was our Family's Memorial Day in which we remembered our first born's birthday. We at lease enjoyed our conversation. together.
Served with spoiled rice on a california roll sushi and baked mussels taste so bad! Tried to call them and the person who i talked too told me he will escalate the issue with his manager and i should recieved a call back but did not happened! Please be aware!
What is the value of good customer service? For this place the value is less than that of a teriyaki sauce! I was having dinner here tonight and I asked for a sauce with each of the rolls I bought and the HON cashier in the worst possible way let me know that they could only give one teriyaki sauce per order, it is notable that they are not interested in the customers, no They are interested in people. Your product is good, it cannot be denied but the way you serve customers is inadequate

Used to eat here all the time their customer service has gone down the drain. I did a pick up order. Asked for water and they said they’d have to charge me? They also told me after I already paid and tipped 22% on a to go order. If u don’t have to go cups you can still offer a glass of water for me to drink there, I just finished a work out. They were extremely rude about it after too I said it’s fine keep your tip I just won’t be eating here anymore there’s much better more hospitable sushi spots.
My family and I have been longtime customers of Kansai. We live nearby and order frequently—dine-in, takeout, and DoorDash. I regularly order the vegetable udon, and I almost always request the noodles and broth separate, since noodles absorb the broth quickly. On my most recent takeout order, the noodles and broth were packaged together. By the time I got home, the broth had been completely absorbed, leaving me with soggy noodles and no soup. This is not how my order is typically prepared. I called the restaurant expecting a replacement or refund, which has never been an issue in the past. Instead, I was told there would be no refund or replacement, and that I would need to come back just to be given broth. For a $14 dish—and as a frequent customer—that response was disappointing. While I initially agreed to pick up the broth, the way the situation was handled, along with the dismissive tone of the staff member I spoke with, made it clear that customer appreciation is no longer a priority. I understand the restaurant is under new management, but this experience was enough for me to decide not to return. They can keep the broth—I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. if I can enclose pictures on this thing I would. Cause you would be appalled. There is absolutely no reason why I shouldn’t have been accommodated.
I’m really disappointed with my recent visit to Kansai Sushi in Concord. The sushi rolls tasted terrible and definitely not fresh — especially the fried rolls, which were oily and had a strange aftertaste. It honestly seemed like the oil they used for frying hadn’t been changed in ages. We ordered multiple fried rolls but the Lion King roll was tge worst. It was so bad that we had to complain — the fish tasted downright nasty. The waiter took the plate back, but instead of removing the full cost, they only gave us 50% off, which didn’t feel right considering how inedible it was. We used to enjoy coming here, but after this experience, we’ve decided not to return. The quality has gone downhill, and it’s really disappointing to see a favorite spot turn into such a letdown.
