Restaurant X & Bully Boy Bar

This is one of our favorite places to eat. While the restaurant needs a little refresh... the food and service was outstanding. The house cocktail list is always interesting, the wine select is great and the food choices and quality of ingredients never disappoint. The staff could not be any friendlier or accommodating.

Impeccable service combined with seasonal produce makes for an amazing dining experience. The steak special for 2 was an amazing deal. Can't wait to come back again.

Great Modern American Fare with an ambience of classic old New York…This gem located in Congers is worth the drive.

I had the soup and the short ribs. The chocolate cake filled with Carmel was great as well. It was 50$ for a three course meal for two with 2 drinks!

This restaurant never disappoints me, always have great foods and service 👍 highly recommend, been here since I was younger when it’s name was Bully Boy Restaurant.

Peter is a fantastic chef who provides a top notch meal . The food and service are first class.

The restaurant sits in old building on a lake, with windows overlooking the lake as well as gardens. Though the entry way can smell musty at times, the restaurant itself is lovely. And, the food is superb. Peter Kelly oversees it's execution even when he is not at the restaurant itself. I am always shocked that the restaurant is not packed: The staff is wonderfully trained. The wines are superb. And, the food is extraordinary. You get what you pay for, so if it's a bit pricey, it's more than worth the $$$.

I love this place. The menu have stayed pretty much the same for 10+years. Great staff and amazing food. Sunday brunches are delicious and pretty fun if you bring some friends for endless mimosas! It's upscale dining, so it's a $$$.

I went to the Sunday brunch yesterday at Restaurant X with a group of friends. The food was absolutely amazing and we loved all the courses! Our waiter, Greg was great too! He was hilarious and attentive to us the whole day. We had the best time at this brunch and cannot wait to come back (and hopefully have Greg again!)

Peter Kelly certainly knows how to make you feel as if you were in his home beautiful atmosphere absolutely wonderful food. We went for his October brunch which was a price fix menu and it was worth every penny.

Excellent. Superb food! One of Peter Kelly's restaurants. Main courses are $30 to $38. So it isn't cheap. I loved the Beef Wellington. Also the venison and tuna is fantastic. For desert try the cheese selection or the warm chocolate cake. You must call ahead but you want them to make you a souffle. Its a great place to bring your special person for that important occasion.

Brunch for 5 of us was outstanding! Victoria was tremendous as a waitress.. Always attentive and helpful. The rest of the staff was very efficient and the food was delicious!! it was a first time for 3 of 5 and they all said they will be back!!

It's hard to find a place as unique and beautiful as Restaurant X. It's homey and they have a fire place you can sit around or a big room with beautiful windows you can look out onto a pond. Staff is always kind and quick to make recommendations for food restrictions. The menu is small but it's still hard to make a decision because you know it's all amazing! There is nothing I've had on the menu that I haven't loved. Wonderful place to go for special occasions

New Year's Eve brunch was a beautiful experience. The service was superior and the food was excellent. Eventually, and with hesitation, we asked our very polite server to pause with the Prosecco and Bellini's. The service was so attentive that our glasses were never more than half empty. It sounded as if they were opening a fresh bottle of Prosecco every 10 minutes. The courses were spaced out just right, and everything was superb. As an unexpected surprise, Peter visited our table to personally welcome us after we were seated. The atmosphere was charming and welcoming. All of the staff were pleasant and gracious. We look forward to our next visit.

My wife and I loved this place! The food was amazing! Everything from the appetizers to the desert was of great quality, great flavors, well prepared and the food presentation was great. The place is just amazing, we went for dinner in a thursday and it was a nice quite environment, not crowded. Service was just amazing, we were well taken care of by the staff. We have no "buts", we will definitely come back here and recommend this place to others. So far best place we have been to in Rockland County.

Delicious food. Endless mimosas. Phenomenal experience. Nelson is an amazing server! We’ve been going for 20+ years and Nelson holds the bar high. Can’t wait to go back! This place should be your next Sunday brunch experience!

Restaurant X is a very good restaurant. My filet mignon was fantastic. Also, my salad was good, the dessert was a delicious creme brulee. Service was good aside from a minor hiccup, which was quickly remedied. We were seated in a dining room area with a fireplace with a fire! Very cozy. Overall an excellent dinner.

Took my family again. Love this place. Excellent all around. The owner is amazing with my 86 year old dad from Ireland. Will be flying up to NY again in March for annual family dads birthday dinner. The Sullivan's.

Been going to Peter Kelly restaurants for years but now the only one we tend to visit these days is Restaurant X. The service is always top notch, Mary Beth and Jesus at our recent trip of dining at the bar were beyond superb! The food is always consistent and delicious. At my recent visit, we devoured and enjoyed the Ceviche, HV Chicken and the Beef Wellington. Not sure where we stuffed it but the carrot cake was over the top yummy!. Thank you once again and would highly recommend!

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Considering that it looks like an old vintsge house, it was a little hard to find from the road at first. When I walked in I noticed a funky odor, but as I continued further into the restaurant I was pleasantly met with a beautiful rustic (good-smelling) ambience and lovely staff. The food was absolutely delicious. I seriously wanted to try everything on the menu. Not only did the taste of the food impress me, but my eyes were pretty satisfied as well. I would definitely take somebody here on a nice date. I certainly plan to frequent this amazing restaurant.

This was our first visit here and it was extremely pleasant. At first glance looking at from the outside it doesn't look like much and could probably use some up keep. However, the inside is a whole other story. It's big, spacious with fine tables everywhere, large windows that let you see the surrounding trees (and chickens in the back!) in an elegant setting of comfortable music playing lightly in the background. The bar is big, comfortable and the bartender was very friendly. They have one of the better bourbon selections I've seen in a long while for a steakhouse on the top shelf. As for the food, it was delicious. From the warm bread to the filet mignon, the sides (asparagus and creamy truffle mashed) and even the coffee (which sometimes can be hit or miss) Overall a wonderful experience imagine we will be partaking as often as possible. Next visit will be Sunday brunch with unlimited prosecco!

While the food and service are great, the building can use some repairs. The entrance can smell a bit musky and carpets worn down - therefore removing a star.

Delicious, well presented, well timed meal in an upscale rustic setting alongside bespoke cocktails. Few small speed bumps with the busy waiter, otherwise a wonderful meal. In addition to the Wellington, ordered the king salmon, pesto pasta special and the pork chop. Everything expertly prepared.

Nice cozy but spacious atmosphere. The food was excellent, our waitress was too. The busboy needed some training about when to take plates off the table. He was way too eager but that's not a negative, that's merely better training. We both had the Beef Wellington and a shrimp dumplings appetizer with pop-overs (we were hangry) It's definitely a place I'd go back to. Bring cash for the valet parking. You can't park your car yourself

We haven't been there for a few years, but it hasn't lost anything. Wonderful attentive service, and lovely ambiance. The Sunday brunch has a wide variety of food to suit any pallet. Even though there are too many courses to count, you can still eat everything without feeling bloated. Pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

The food was absolutely delicious. My fiancé and I went here for Valentine's Day 2023. We had a reservation but got sat 1/2 hour late. There were people that were sat after us that got their drinks and appetizers before a waiter even came to our table. The service was horrible. The food was amazing. Compliments to the chef- the wait staff needs more training!!

We had a great brunch there on mother's day, the food just kept coming! We had a large group and service was on point. We tried to keep track of how many courses they came by with but we totally lost count after about number ten or so. It was everything from sweet to savory along with different meats. There is valet parking in front if you need. Would definitely suggest trying them out for a special occasion.

Food was ok, it was nothing too excited about (lox was very thin and bagel was very thick, pork loin was so dry that I had trouble to swallow it, coconut shrimp was too hard. ) But the desserts were very good. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent, they kept topping off your mimosa. On Saturday we went, it was valet parking only. The restaurant looked very outdated and old. They should really fix the front door, it kept banging on the door frame and made the place not upscale at all.

It's tough because I wanted to leave a better score. The food was delicious. I had the scallops special and was very pleased. My wife had the pork chop special and again the food was incredible. Our server was new and forgot our apps, would of been a much better score.

Brunch at restaurants X is an experience. I’ve done it 3-4 times but there is plenty of room for improvement. The restaurant needs a good cleaning! There’s noticeable dust and cobwebs everywhere. The chairs are not in the best condition. My sister was sitting on a wobbly one just to notice one of the legs was out of the slot! Very dangerous!! The food was surprisingly very salty this time around. The wait staff was not very attentive. Restaurant should hire more staff for such a packed event/day. This waiter promised us bread 2 times and we are still waiting for that bread. The brunch is unlimited champagne drinks but our glass was sitting there empty for almost 30 minutes at a time. The main waiter dropped champagne on the birthday girl, spoke over her head (so rude and unsanitary) and just had to understanding of personal space. This restaurant can do better! The place was packed for brunch so it’s obvious they are making money!

We were a party of 7 for Sunday Brunch. The food was great, but the service was not up to par. 3 main problems: 1. The food servers were I experienced and kept spilling sauces and food. 3. The drink service was slow, and we had to remind the main server about our drink order after 20 mins. 3. They ran out of lamb chops for 2 people at the table. It seems that the Reputation of the Chef is carrying the place, but if I am taking a group of family/ friends to a place like this, i am expecting impeccable service.

Restaurant X is past its prime. Still an appealing, welcoming space in need of a refresh. Service was only fair with a willing but inept wait staff comprised of bus boys trying unsuccessfully to be waiters. Food was good but my entree was dried out, perhaps spending too much time under lights waiting for my waiter to serve. Prices now seem very high considering the overall experience. So many better options in the area.

I'll start with the good... The food was delicious and seasoned properly... Now the bad.. The entire place is run down.. Uneven floors, stains on the ceiling, paint peeling, old carpeting and the chairs are old and wobbly. There was also a switch up on their end after we booked reservations.. didn't care for how they handled THEIR mistake but eventually it was dealt with. This could be a great place if they would put some effort into fixing it up. I don't think I'll be back as long as it remains as is.. It was a meh experience.

What an awful dining experience in what used to be a boujee place. We went with a party of 12 & this is just 1/2 the bill. It was described as a "Sunday brunch akin to being a guest in an old-world country house where the butler has gone mad and keeps sending out footmen bearing silver trays of one tempting dish after another." Also as an "extravaganza of glorious excess." And "a buffet that comes to you." It was all of that on speed. Our dining experience was sweltering at a steamy 80 degrees in the restaurant & rushed. It was a hot & stressful experience. When asked for clean plates between courses we got eye rolls by teenagers who were acting as the "footmen bearing silver trays." The temperature was truly unbearable & although the food was decent if not too salty... it was a no for me. The carpet was worn, torn & the place was so rundown. The entrance to the valet parking was a pot hole disaster. Don't waste your time or money!

The service was deplorable! I expected much more. The waitress took 30 minutes to take our orders n only returned to give us the check. No second drink offered no coffee after dinner. Just eat your food and get out was the feeling I got. For a place that is so pricey I expect better. I've been treated better at fast food restaurants. The food was very good though. Maybe get it to go. For the first time in my life I didn't leave a tip. Also the place needs a make over.our table an chairs were wobbly. There was plastic covering the windows. Carpets look filthy. A bare lightbulb was over the sink in the ladies restroom. Ugh.
