The food was superb. All of us really enjoyed our dishes. Cooked to perfection with top notch ingredients, fresh herbs and spices used to great effect. Friendly service, great coffee and the atmosphere was great. Not as busy as expected in holiday season.

Have stayed a number of times as it's convenient for visiting family. This was the first time we've stayed over Christmas. Couldn't fault it and all the staff were excellent.

I have stayed here quite a number of times now - it will always be my 1st choice if I'm working locally. The menu is always fantastic - freshly made, and clearly cooked with care & pride - never had a bad meal. The only issue is deciding what to have!! The rooms are clean, well presented and comfy - just a pity there are only 6 rooms! However the best bit is the service & the welcome you get! I really couldn't recommend this place any more!!

Congresbury Arms has just reopened after the winter. Had a lovely meal on their opening night. Food was brilliant. No wait. Left feeling really satisfied and very full! Going back on Sunday for Sunday roast. Probably the best in the area! Just saying. The bar area is now dog friendly but they recommend booking if you’re bringing a pet. The bar feels way more cost and warm. Very impressed. The restaurant is assistance dogs only. Honestly it was so good to be back there and I’m glad there are still some friendly faces even under new management.

Three of us had a great lunch. The rare roast bavette steaks were really tasty, as was the fish stew, and the vegetables were excellent. The desserts were too tempting and equally good. The dining room is comfortable, the service friendly & good and there’s a good selection of drinks.

Lovely meal this evening. All four of us enjoyed. Friendly fun service and well presented tasty food. Great selection of wines too. What’s not to like! Thanks all.

Amazing food. Anyone who says England does not do good cuisine needs to come here. Starter was stunning, we had a ham hock terrine which was incredible. Roast pork lunch was perfect. A little pricey, but worth the treat.

Lovely meal with a warm welcome. Attended with two young kids and the staff were very helpful and accommodating even let us order my eldest dinner first so he wouldn’t be waiting. Food was delicious! Top class will be back

We had a delightful Sunday lunch here yesterday and will certainly be returning soon .. The Crackling rolled pork belly was delicious followed by their home-made sticky toffee pudding .. really yummy !! Even brought us some extra custard on request . My partner was particularly pleased with the extensive GF options too . Mitch and Ann were both friendly and attentive and we didn’t feel rushed even though it was busy …

I had a fantastic stay where the staff were very attentive and provide excellent service. The rooms are fantastic and excellent value where they are spacious clean and provide a good selection of tea and coffee in the room including yorkshire tea bags and taylors coffee bags (for coffee lovers), they also supply a local cheddar still and sparkling water. The bar itself has a very nice atmosphere and the food is excellent and great value for the quality you receive. I will be planning future stays when on business.

Yesterday, I had a long drive to Weston Suoer Mare to buy some hay. Whilst I was over that way, I managed to meet up with a friend who I haven’t seen for far too long. My friend suggested meeting up at The Congresbury Arms and what an absolutely fabulous meal that turned out to be. The staff were so kind and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We were treated like Royalty even though I had mud ingrained into my washed hands and bits of hay on my clothes. The Sunday Roast was out-of-this-World delicious, fresh ingredients of an excellent quality and cooked to perfection. There were lots of vegetables and the gravy was exquisite. In fact, I really don’t know when I last enjoyed a meal so much and it was a large portion too. There was the option of a smaller portion. I can highly recommend a meal at the Congresbury Arms and DO arrange to meet a favourite friend you haven’t seen for a while for the most perfect day

Arrived to a warm welcome, we sat in the bar area with a great view at the window, a pet friendly area. The starter was an Asian Salad and Halloumi and same again with crispy Beef, main course was belly pork special and delphinoise potatoes. The 2 courses were some of the best dishes in quite a while and the starter alone will have me returning alone. Service was excellent and a lovely warm atmosphere on New Years Eve, a wonderful meal to see out 2025, many thanks to Congresbury Arms.

Consistently good Sunday lunch. We've been going to the Congresbury Arms for some time and every time the Sunday Roast has been really tasty. Good choice of meals, exceptional vegetables plus all the trimmings. The staff are the super friendly and accommodating and they serve until 5.30pm which is an added bonus.

We recently booked the Congresbury Arms for a gathering of 14 friends and family to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We visited the pub beforehand to discuss the arrangements for the event. The manager Mitch was very accommodating and agreed to set aside and rearrange a side room to accommodate our party. On the evening of the event we gathered in the welcoming and comfortable bar area for pre-drinks before moving into the side area which had been reserved for us. Being a large group we had been asked to pre-select our meals from the standard weekend menu and had advised our selections in advance so that they could be brought to the table together. Between us we sampled most of the starters and about half of the mains on offer. We and our guests were delighted with all our selections, with many of our friends commenting upon the variety, quality and presentation of the food. Throughout the evening Mitch and his team were very attentive and we were very happy with the service we received. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Congresbury Arms to anyone looking to hold a celebration in the Congresbury area and look forward to going back there soon for another v

Kept restaurant open as our flight had been delayed. Only a few minutes from Bristol airport. Grade 2 listed pub but rooms are very well appointed. Reserved parking for guests. No lift. Wonderful cooked breakfast, to order, plus cereal etc. Toast is amazing ( really thick slices). Very reasonable rates.

Had Sunday roast here. Quite excellent, nice amount of trimmings and gravy. Very nice crumble for pudding with plenty of custard. Dog friendly and great service.

Me and 4 friends enjoyed a lovely evening at the Congresbury arms to celebrate my birthday. The service was brilliant and the staff were all very attentive. The food was incredible- we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We made the most of the 3 courses for £25 deal which was great value! We will return again soon.

Thoroughly enjoyed our festive meal tonight. Great atmosphere and brilliant service. The selection of gluten and dairy free options was remarkable. We appreciate the accessibility and assistance provided to my disabled dad, and recommend booking this should you need it.

We had previously eaten at the Bath Arms in Cheddar - a sister property - and enjoyed it, so decided to give the Congresbury Arms a try. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent. It was obvious there was some serious culinary talent in the kitchen and the front of house service was impeccable. We ate off the special lunch menu and both had a main course and sweet - portions were generous. The old historic inn at the heart of the village was bright and airy with a welcoming atmosphere. We noticed a large attractive garden, which would be perfect in summer. Oh and there was a large car park too.

We ate here for Sunday lunch which was truly outstanding. My husband was very impressed with the gluten free choices and also the staffs knowledge and understanding of celiac. Could not fault anything, food service and attention was exceptional, will definitely return

Outstanding! The 2 of us had mains and dessert from the lunch menu, there's a huge range of choice and clearly labelled for dietary requirements and most dishes were gluten free. My fish pie was excellent and came with a warm gluten free roll, dessert was a superb ginger crème brulée and a chocolate chip biscuit - our server double checked that it was also gluten free as the menu had stated. My son had the beef stew and pineapple upside-down cake and couldn't fault either. For £20 each, it can't be beaten, staff were friendly and attentive, the toilets clean. Highly recommended!!

A lovely experience! Great food! A complimentary glass of Prosecco because we were on our honeymoon. Compares very favourably with so called high end chefs restaurants!! Highly recommended.

Stayed here with my daughter 19th April for one night. What a lovely place, cleanliness throughout was exceptional. Staff were friendly helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Food and service was excellent. Room was comfortable although a little hot would have liked to have turned radiator off, but this is from someone who always has windows open no matter what the temperature is outside. Room facilities excellent, bed comfortable, excellent shower and toiletries, tea, coffee etc and nuts and sweets. Would definitely go here again. Congresbury village is so clean, lovely walks and a friendly community.

What a lovely surprise today! Excellent find and the proof is in the photo! And these are just some of the starters! The coffee was virtually served within a couple of minutes in our seats. Service was perfect , food was the best! Lovely to see the management working as hard if not harder than everyone else to make sure we were valued as well as our money! 👏👏

Great for Bristol airport. The airport Flyer stops at the bus stop about 50m from the pub. Really convenient, good price.

Stopped in for some lunch whilst cycling to Yatton. Lovely beer garden, with nicely separated tables. Had some of the sandwiches which were delicious! Lovely staff. Highly recommend.

Great food. Didn't stay, so no marks for that. I bet it is nice. Restaurant. Lunch. The food was fabulous, although a bit on the pricey side ( but you get what you pay for . Although I was being treated ). I found the service slow. We were not asked throughout the meal if we needed more drinks, and a sale of drinks was lost. Great food. Under parr service .

Lovely pub with large spacious beer garden in a beautiful setting. Food is delicious, very reasonably priced for the large portion you get (we went on a Sunday so had Sunday Roasts). They were also very accommodating for some specific dietary requirements. The staff are so friendly and welcoming which topped off the whole experience. I would definitely recommend to anyone passing by or considering a visit.

An absolute amazing hidden gem of a place. From arrival we were made to feel very welcome. Stunning room with an extremely comfortable bed. The attention to the small details kept surprising us setting this apart from any mainstream accommodation. The food was incredible from menu selection to presentation and the taste... I would go as far as to say the best meal we have ever had! All three courses. Absolute credit to the chef. Cocktails by the fire afterwards was a perfect end to the dining experience. Esther and the team were so friendly and attentive without being intrusive that they made our whole experience amazing. I cannot recommend the Congresbury Arms enough... Our new favourite haunt that we will definitely be returning to. 5 star plus.

Lovely,Lovely, night!!! It was a last minute dot com decision to stay, and believe you me it was the correct one! The whole team are friendly, knowledgeable and want you to enjoy yourself. The Room was superb, shower was hot and powerful, bed comfy and the wee extras..... Dinner was sublime, and by no means hard to pay. About the best ribeye steakI have ever had! Good parking. Not a blip on the horizon If we are in that part of the world again we will be back!!!!

Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Great food, clean premises and great service. Lots of effort put into making you feel special. The chef sent out a free appetiser with a very different cucumber starter.. which was very different but really lovely!!!! Definitely will return!

Varied menu and the quality and presentation of the dishes is excellent. The dining areas are always clean, immaculate and attractively presented. Customer service is spot on. We've been here a few times now and never been disappointed. We always book and dine out for Christmas Day dinner and this year we will be booking the Congresbury Arms without a shadow of a doubt.

Visited for a drink at the time initially. But we ended up ordering the Sunday Roast - Pork and Chicken, from the Beer Garden bar, after smelling and see the others were being served. Both were freshly cooked, tasty and excellent. Recommend the Yorkshire Pudding 🍮 as the best item on the plate. Both plates were totally empty, when we finished 👍 Service was very good and very helpful Would visit again Highly Recommended 😃😎

We had a lovely Sunday roast at the Congresbury Arms yesterday early evening. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Lovely place with a great ambience and good disabled access for my Mum who is in a wheelchair.

We visited during a period of very warm weather. Good bedroom with king-sized bed and plenty of storage. Shower room had exceptional power shower but no grab rail and nowhere convenient to put your towel. Traffic noise is an issue unfortunately and the heat made it more difficult to get to sleep. A fan is provided and it did help. We had breakfast and evening meal for three nights and were very happy with the standard, value and especially the friendly service. The location is very convenient for the countryside south of Bristol and of course the airport. Traffic noise aside, we would thoroughly recommend this restaurant with rooms.

Lovely food but the baby changing facilities and disabled toilets are poor. Really cold and the changing table is far too high up. They are almost like a like out house and feel separate to the pub even though they’re in the entrance way. Far too high and too cold to change baby and I went to the car to change her instead

Just went here for a drink, lovely atmosphere, looked at the menu which looked very good but wasn’t eating. Fairly decent range of non alcohol drinks, good service. Big car park. Not rated the rooms as didn’t see any.

2 night stay. Clean comfortable room but could do with a second pillow! Noisy main road location with no let up in traffic noise even though attempts had been made for secondary glazing. Could not control radiator in room so hot at night and could not open window due to noise. Food expensive for what you got. Helpful friendly staff. Good location for visiting attractions

J

Food is pretty decent - standard pub grub with a good roast on Sunday. Prices also decent and service fine, nice decor - trying quite hard to be something a bit special (but it’s a pub). If you’re looking for a meal out and don’t want to go to Bristol the Congresbury Arms is a good bet. They have just introduced some sort of parking camera arrangement, so if you drive check the terms.

Great location but very expensive food. Parking is good @ £1 and hour. We went paddle boarding and then wanted some food after but at £20 each for a bit of food we left and went elsewhere

Last minute visit for some lunch.I never booked and just showed up. I haven’t been in here since it was a hungry horse and I visited a lot.We were greeted straight away and they were welcoming in finding us somewhere to sit. We ended up in the lounge area which only had one table which was great.Good choice of drinks and food. I never realised they did roast dinners so I’ve never even bothered to visit on a Sunday. I chose the roast beef. Meals were delicious and staff were very friendly and attentive.I will definitely visit again soon.Nicely set out and decorated.A little pricier than other places.Tables spread out so it felt roomy and not crowded like some places even though they were full.

Disappointing to say the least based upon our expectations from previous reviews. Chose to stay here due to the very positive comments in the majority of past reviews and proximity to Bristol Airport. Despite advising our estimated time of arrival when booking, received a call 15 minutes away from the hotel, informing us that the resteraunt closed at 8........ pulled over to take this call which went to voicemail. Returned the call and informed a member of staff staff that we were due to arrive in 15 minutes, as previously advised: very irritating and, our return message was not passed on to the member of staff concerned either! From the time of arrival it just seemed as though we were an inconvenience (informed that 'chef didn't start until 7.30' so no cooked breakfast: provided with cold croissants and cereal for the morning). The accommodation is reached via a narrow, steep stairwell, which is to be expected given the age of the property. The stairwell and landing carpet needed cleaning. The room was compact, but clean and pleasant enough: woken up however in the early hours by a HGV which sounded as though it was actually coming through the room! Again given the age of the property and location, probably to be expected, even with secondary glazing. I feel that we didn't experience The Congresbury Arms at it's best and again we were disappointed not to have eaten there. Based upon our overall experience, including the service, we sadly can't recommend The Congresbury Arms.

Only visited the Pub. There was a mix up on our booking for an evening meal. Even though I had an email confirmation. The staff members didn't communicate with each other. We still got a table as it was a quiet Monday evening. My sausage and mash came with no vegetables at all , which was a shame. Then the new dessert on the menu the Congresburys Mess was 85% cream, 7% fruit and only 8% meringue. This was disappointing too. My friend didn't eat hers at all. The environment was lovely, the staff were friendly and attentive. You don't have to pay for parking, even though at first glance it looks like you do. There are many reasons to visit. Just wanted to share my thoughts on the menu and food .l

£113 and breakfast was extra. Not worth it... if this is your budget, pay a little more and go to Cadbury House. Worth no more than £80/night. Rooms are a little tired and being woken up at 6am to a broken alarm was far from ideal! No communication from staff, just other people staying and it took about half an hour to sort! Wouldn't stay again at that price!

Stayed overnight as we were on a road trip. Lovely looking place but wasn't impressed with the gentleman who works there and his attitude when we arrived. We ate somewhere else but had a drink at the bar when we got back. He kept coming round to where we were to what I felt like to spy on us. Made me feel very uncomfortable and we cut our evening short. The hotel itself is nice and clean but oh my the bed was awful. It was so hard we couldn't get comfy and resorted to sleeping on the quilt. Bathroom was in a poor shape and desperately needs a revamp. Given the age of the building we could understand the window situation but our room overlooked outbuildings. The net curtains weren't suitable as staff could see into our room so we kept the curtains shut the whole time. Massive gap under the door and the landing light stayed on the whole night so we had to put our suitcase in front of it so block out the light. I appreciate the age of the building etc but I do value a good nights sleep esp when on a road trip. Breakfast was lovely and filling and full of flavour. Won't be returning anytime soon

I've waited for 10 minutes to be served and nobody came over to the table so decided to come up to the bar and order myself. I've been with my partner and we both ordered burgers and chips and waited 51 minutes for it. Place hasn't been busy so I guess they forgot to run it through to the kitchen. Food was very average for the price so I wouldn't come back for these reasons. Staff was nice but overall very slow.

Went on the 22nd September for my birthday staff were nice unfortunately food was very poor had the fish cakes to start deep fried hard as nails fish was tasteless complained then had fish and chips again deep fried soggy so much oil Don’t think we will be back sorry

I felt that the roast beef dinner was not worth the money, very bland, roast potatoes were awful. Found the whole meal tasteless. Very disappointing. Member of staff serving the bar, we felt was quite rude. Won’t be returning.

V

Very disappointing food. One starter was returned as it was so bad- staff very helpful in this process. My husband's starter lacked seasoning. The fish and chips had very little fish and were extremely greasy. Would not recommend a meal here.

So, as a local to the pub, we have been going there for a number of years, mainly after work, we run a car sales down the road, on Saturday the 17th, we decided to go to the pub garden and have a drink which as mentioned, we do quite regularly, usually during the summer months. We were in the queue at the outside bar, to which we were told ‘sorry chaps, someone will be out to serve you in around 5 minutes’ 2 of us decided to venture into the building and order drinks to save time, the very nice lady behind the bar had started to complete our order, unbeknownst to my friends at the bar, myself and my other friend had been asked to leave due to being in ‘workwear’….before we ordered we did read the new signs that did in fact mention ‘workwear’ was not to be worn in the garden or inside the building….now I totally understand this is a nice establishment, with a nice ‘upmarket feel’ However, this is where the issue is, our ‘workwear’ is a Black Immaculate polo shirt, smart shorts and regular black trainers….arguably a lot more presentable than many of other customers that we have seen previously in the pub garden. I do understand the reasoning behind the policy, but….if we were mechanics covered in oil, decorators covered in paint or plumbers covered in dirty horrible smelly water I wouldn’t argue….but we were essentially dressed in your ‘smart casual’ dress code….yet because we have a logo of our small local business….we were asked to leave? Absolutely ridiculous, please give this feedback to whoever felt it was necessary to turf us out without using any common sense.
