Opinions de El Bosque Mexican Restaurant & Patio Conroe
Unfortunately the tostadas are made from flour tortillas and not corn. Wish that was in the description. They did remake them with corn. As I have a wheat allergy I’m not gluten free. Also had a Coors light with my lunch. Total was $19.
El Bosque in Conroe is a local treasure! The salsa has the perfect kick, and the fajitas are always sizzling and flavorful. The atmosphere is warm and the service is exceptionally attentive. Truly the best authentic Mexican dining experience in town!
Amazing service. Good food. Good prices. We've been twice. Today it was freezing inside the place, and uncomfortable, but otherwise a great experience. They give you a small plate with two thick chips covered in refried beans and queso as a welcome gesture. Then come the traditional chips and salsa. The salsa is okay, and the chips are plenty. The margarita is good. Prices are good. Fajitas are great, enchiladas are great, crispy taco is great. Give it a try, so we can keep them in business!! 14/15 on the rating because I don't want to eat mexican food in a refrigerator.
Absolutely phenomenal! Chicken in wine sauce was so good I can't describe it here... wait staff calm, friendly, professional. Food comes in portions so large you will feel small by comparison. Every bite full of flavor. BEST RESTAURANT in all of Conroe, hands down. My tummy is the size of a peanut but I ordered like a weight lifter and our guy was so helpful in bagging our take-home. Also, the homemade churros are so good you will want to slap somebody. My favorite place and will be coming back!
Slip in to grab dinner for the wife and I... Parking is easy, but I know from previous experience, el Bosque is popular, so I'm thankful for a close parking spot. Handicapped parking is available and right up front. Front doors are wooden with a vibe that encourages classic dining style. The hostess is friendly and, menu in hand, lets me go my way after I explain to her that I'm on the way to the wellhouse. There is a separate, and noticeably placared space devoted to private dining... It's easy to enjoy the classic door frame; arched and wooden bound with dark stain that sits well against the traditional colorscofdered by the rest of the place; same beautiful tiIe seems to carry throughout the restaurant and makes the place seem earthy. I arrive to a space somewhat separate from dining but not closed off completely. Football...and sports center play. I'm midday/early evening, so the bar is calm and there is plenty of seating. Up front looks clear, so I belly up to the counter to notice great draft selection (I recommend the Negro Modelo served with a lime) and a quite extensive liquor selection including many tequilas of various tastes and preferences. The bartender is poised and ready to receive me into the cozy atmosphere of enjoyment, and acknowledges my presence promptly. I ask for a menu and am given a list of options ranging from choice, fine dining to simple, classic dishes; salads, soups, desserts, & appetizers also round out the selection. It's difficult to choose, and some is a bit pricey, but we know the el Bosque brand and are expecting great food, so it seems reasonable. I choose the items I wish to enjoy and share with my family and also order a drink. The beer is ice cold and tequila dressed appropriately. I enjoy reminiscing of my father's love for culture and life. I don't feel adrift as the business men to my left are discussing something exciting in the works. They are not loud or obnoxious, but, it seems, an eager young fellow is being mentored by a wise, sagely man glad to share his experience. Before I can finish the reels I'm watching, the food comes bagged to go (he did ask me) and cleanly presented with the exact order, chips & salsa, and dining utensils. My bartender is not pushy with the check, and even gave me a discount. Very unexpected; very grateful. It spoke to me in a truly unexpected manner. ¡Muchos gracias! On the way out I decided to use the restroom as I have a lengthy drive ahead of me. Whilst paying through the other side of the bar a waiter grabs a mug from a chilled cooler behind the bar. There must also be cold, tasty brews available table side as well. Bathrooms are clean and the music isn't blasting my ears to oblivion, so the job is complete with little to no distraction 👀. Jk. But really though it's stocked and doesn't discourage my hunger. I'm out into the evening with happiness, satisfaction, and a pleasant feeling of contentment. ¡Suerte!
The food was great and the the service and atmosphere were wonderful. My only complaint would be my husband's tacos. The flavor was there but the filling was not in each of them. The first of three had a great amount of filling, the second was about half full, and the third was just a thin layer of filling. He let it go, since everything else seemed OK. Maybe someone in the back was having a bad day. We will definitely go back, maybe we just won't order the tacos.
I've been a fan of El Bosque for many years, of all their locations. I took my Uncle here a few years before he passed and made him a fan. The people are always friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're well taken care of. The food is top notch and the price is always fair. If you haven't been, you're missing out. Nos vemos pronto El Bosque!!
Love the ambiance and decor here. It's always dimly lit and quieter than most restaurants. Food is quick and delicious with servers being prompt and courteous. You might even get to hear a kitchen staffs loud authentic laugh to make ur day lol
I had such a great experience here! The food was delicious, the margarita was perfect, and Jesús provided outstanding service. He kept our waters and chips full, was attentive the whole time, and so friendly. Highly recommend this place!🌮🍹
I just wrote a previous review in reference to ordering a frozen margarita and the margarita machine not being turned on. What bartender does not turn on the margarita machine when opening their bar. Although the food was excellent, the service was superb. Just wanted to be able to add the photos of the food that we ordered because it was exceptional.
🥰 went for Sunday Brunch. Everything was amazing! Tortillas HECHAS A MANO, MY FAVORITE!! Delicious Menudo, Barbacoa, Pozole, Chilaquiles, Made to order Omelets, Pancakes and Waffles, Aguas Frescas, Cafe De Olla & Pan Dulce were a Big Plus!!! DEFINITELY GOING BACK SOON, IT IS WORTH THE 5O MIN DRIVE 😍
This was our first time here. The food was great. The service was excellent. No complaints from us. I had the Stuffed Avocado. I have never had this before, and it was delicious. We had a margarita and my wife had something. I forgot what it was called but I posted a picture, and she liked it! We recommend this place.
This place was pretty awesome! The food was delicious, dessert not so much (that’s why it lost a star & prices a lil too high for me). For starters, Chips and salsa were on point. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and it was definitely a 10/10. Chunky and spicy! Loved it. My plate was the Chicken diablo I believe (pictured below) and it was a lil over $22, which to me was a lil high for the amount of food I got. Beans & rice were good, but definitely could’ve been better for that price. The chicken wrapped with bacon was juicy and delicious. Probably my fave part of the meal. Here is where the real disaster came in: For dessert we each got a tres leeches cake and agreed that it had an odd bitter flavor to it. It wasn’t the rich sweet flavor I’m used to. I was told it had “vino” in it which was upsetting considering I take drug/alcohol tests randomly and had one an hour after this. Luckily I came out clean but that could’ve been a disaster!!! I think we should be warned in advance about any alcohol in the food. Common courtesy. Other than the over priced food and bitter cake, I did enjoy it. Luckily I wasn’t paying. The staff was nice and friendly/funny and the restaurant itself was clean and aesthetic. I’d come back, on someone else’s dollar and get a different dessert!
Decided to go have a Sunday afternoon lunch/dinner. We opted to sit in the bar area so we could watch the football game. Once I ordered my frozen margarita, the waiter came back, letting me know that the bartender did not turn on the margarita machine, so there were no frozen margaritas, so I had to order one on the rocks which I do not do all. Decided to move to another part of the dining area because of music was too loud in the bar area. Once we moved over there we could watch the game where we were sitting was a great viewing of the game. The food was exceptional, delicious even. I was very happy with what we were served the waiter was excellent. My only complaint is what bartender does not turn on the margarita machine when he opens his bar that kind of shocked me because of that I’ll give our experience with El Bosque four stars because the food was great.
I took my mom in for a late evening meal. It was my first time in over 20 years and I remember that it had excellent food. I was not disappointed this time. We were seated immediately and staff was eager to please. The menu was plentiful and we had a hard time deciding! There is not a lot à la cart, so you will need to choose a meal or order several plates if you can’t decide lol; however, the staff will help you to make the best choice from their menu 😄 the staff seemed like a tight nit group of professionals. Well done! We enjoyed this restaurant and the food a great deal and would recommend it 100% 24/7 ¡Buen Provecho!
Been wanting to come here for years because of the Sunday buffet but was craving queso so .. the red salsa was really good the way I like it thin and full of flavor... The chips were homemade and tasty... If I had any complaint at all it was with the bar because they didn't have an old fashioned. That means either no bitters at a full bar or no mix either way it means no bueno. We ordered the queso with ground beef and it was good. No head and shoulders above the rest but really good so no complaints. I do like when I get the fried chips with it and lo siento but nada aqui. We ordered margaritas, frozen for the lady and on the rocks for me, both were huge and delicious. Since we weren't that hungry and they had Saturday lunch specials it was#1s all around. Taco was good, not great, and queso puff was on par with everywhere else. The cheese enchiladas were excellent and so was the rice and beans. The rice was moist and tasty and the beans were full of flavor. Overall I was impressed but want to see more. Definitely worth the price and I have to commend the wait staff as they were friendly and hard working.
El Bosque Restaurant is a great Tex-Mex place for enchiladas tacos and margaritas. Full-stock bar with premier choices. Staff went out of their way to prepare us “salsa de molcajete” that is not on the menu. Food was good to great. The location of this restaurant is very problematic. I can’t count five different Mexican Restaurants at this location and is perhaps due to poor use of the space and dated infrastructure. While half of the place is freezing cold, the other half is hot as hell. Location itself is very visible to traffic and car count is very high. Good luck keeping up this location alive!
They were friendly and the service was okay. My chicken fajita was dry so they made me a new order, which was nice. However, when it came to my wife ordering the waiter wasn't very informative about the pricing of what she was asking for. Well we got our bill I went WHAT because we didn't know she had to pay for each shrimp she got and the waiter did not inform us of the price even though he told his manager he did.
I've eaten here a handful of times and never had an issue like I did this evening. First off, they don't light the queso flameado on fire. I mean... it's in the name. The cheese enchiladas were not visually pleasing and i couldn't even cut the first bite with a knife. The other dish was a steak burrito. They ate their meal but had tummy issues when we got home. They did comp the enchiladas. I'm honestly not sure if I'll go back.
Too expensive. The full order nachos are not worth the $19. They are just nachos man. Chips, cheese and meat. How many different ways do you serve the same ingredients for less... Just ridiculous. I'm response: No nachos are with over ten bucks, much less than 15. Give me a break.
Now this is NOT an exaggeration when I inform you that this was the ABSOLUTE WORST restaurant experience my wife and I have ever encountered. We have had bad experiences, but this was by far the WORST. We didn't just receive TERRIBLE SERVICE. WE WERE ABUSED!!! We went on a Monday and the restaurant was not busy. The one lady wearing white was constantly playing on her phone. The ENTIRE wait staff, despite the restaurant not being busy, was simply VERY LAZY!!! We started off with a who called himself Rambo, then with no explanation the LAZY LADY in the white shirt who was constantly playing with her phone. This is a very RUDE practice especially since the guy calling himself Rambo wasn't finishing his shift. We asked several times for MORE SALSA and it finally showed up after repeated complaints. We didn't even get drink refills after repeat complaints, finally the ALSO LAZY manager in a brown shirt came by with water when we were standing up to leave!!! I told him it was too late for that now. Over and over again, we have experienced SLOW restaurants giving VERY BAD service. But this place took it to a NEW LEVEL of bad.
Got into eating time in downtown conroe. El Bosque is pretty good in Shannandoa, so when we saw this location, we thought it would compare. Ha! Had a jumbo margarita. It was water! Had beef and chicken fajita tostadas. Beef was dried out, chicken wasn't much better. Wife and I both had same. Took all beef home for dog. We'll never go back.
