Great food! I had the ahi tuna wontons and they were delicious! The drinks are good and it’s not overpriced for the quality. It made for a fun date night and we were able to eat good food and have good drinks without driving to two separate places 😀

Àbsolutely some of the best blackened flounder you'll have in town. 21+ inside, so do takeout or leave the kids at home. This is definitely a dive bar worth driving for.

Black Market well-established Tavern it's a little hidey-hole right off of Airline and gollihar by next to the church it's set back in the neighborhood quiet bars quite yet they got crafts that are excellent on tap pool darts back patio for smoking drinking catch up with friends good camaraderie live bands on the weekend excellent music and people you want to just walk in and Shout the word Norm Carrie, cheers where everybody knows your name. My son works for Mikel Mays on the island we hit this place tonight for the first time and we'll be back it's pretty cool. Come check it out it got heavy metal alternative it's pretty good folks in there. Not to mention the drink specials. Craft beers out of this world. You love it.

This was a marvelous surprise! Diane was awesome and took real good care of us. We got the ahi crisps for appetizers. Such a good call. Pair it with a Black Mass cocktail for an excellent treat. Cajun trashcan tacos are worth the wait. Sally knows what he's doing in that kitchen. Would give this more stars if I could. This is 100% worth a trip to Corpus for! Kitchen opens at 4 closes at 10. Found this place, looking for seafood, because Long John Silvers let me down twice. Their seafood, is excellent and way, way better, than fast food. In my opinion, the South Sides King Seafood, but this bar, has way better Fried Shrimp, than them.

A jewel of a place. There are pinball machines. I went to the Rock N Roll memorabilia swap meet. Amazing merch. Vinyl, buttons, magazines and original artwork. Staff is friendly and interesting. Bathrooms immaculate.

Ahi tuna wontons: amazing. I almost didn't try them despite the reviews, but I spoke to the bartender (didn't get his name, but he was awesome) and he described the recipe for the slaw and I was sold. I also had the bacon wrapped jalapeno shrimp and that was amazing too!!! Some of the best food I've had in a really long time. Can't wait to be back.

Hands down the best fried oysters. Breading was just enough to hold the flavor of the oyster, which was cooked just to the right temp to be hot but not over cooked. A hot raw oyster. Amazing. Did I mention that I liked the oysters?

Absolutely loved the service here. They pulled strings to help my girlfriend and I out when we were hungry and fed us even though the kitchen closed. Atmosphere was incredible and everyone was vibing to the music. The food was amazing but Chachi (apologies if I spelled the name wrong) and Sally made the difference with their extreme hospitality. Black Monk Tavern ! A Locals Bar here in the three * six * one where everyone comes to kick back and relax in a laid back casual atmosphere. My husband and I are here on Taco Tuesday, where the special is buy-one-get-one orders of flounder tacos. We got one order of fried fish tacos and one order of blackened. So good! They also have a nice little selection of cold draft craft beers. We had the 5x5, which was delicious. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. I highly and heartily recommend this cozy little hole in the wall!

Love this place even though it's not my style. Not sure that makes sense, but it's a great place. They have shows, pool, darts, and the pinball machines are a plus. Great beer selection and there's a kitchen available for some dank eats. I advise you drop in and see for yourself. Get the Tacos on Tuesday and tell em I sent ya!

My husband and I FINALLY went to check this place out. It was a Sunday afternoon, so other than us there were 2 others at the bar. Really nice little hidden gem. Looks a bit meh from the outside, but don't let that fool ya. We want to back when they have live music and try their food too. A couple beers on tap, but the selection was great! Will have yo try their mixed drinks and food next time.

Food is AMAZING! It was recommended to me by the hotel bartender (sean?) and was a little skeptical when I pulled up to the place. Dive bar written all over it. (Not a bad thing). Settled in with a cocktail and had the crescent City Hash. Mind blown, could not stop eating it. Had to go back the next night and got the boudin balls and blackened flounder tacos. Crazy good. Wish I lived in Corpus and I would be a regular. Keep it up!!!

Went for our first time over the weekend and caught some good live music, seen a garage band cled Sensor and a great cover band Fist Full of Metal... the wife and I had a blast, staff was friendly and accommodating.. made some new friends, had some good food and jammed to some good music

Great atmosphere, great staff, and the food was really good!! Just the right amount of options to choose from, all packed with flavor!! We had the Voodoo burger and trash can tacos and both were amazing. The staff were friendly and fun. You won't be disappointed..I will be returning for sure.

Chill place. Low key and great live bands. I'm a Reggae fan so I usually try to go when they have that type of music. The food there too was delicious. Will definitely visit this place again, so long as they keep them Reggae bands coming back. 😎🤙

Love Black monk! Worked there at one point in time a few years back, but was a Patron of this wonderful establishment for the year and a half I lived in cc before that . Love the dive bar feel! The patio out back is stellar and I am pretty sure it is handicap accessible throughout too. I definitely recommend coming before the kitchen closes.... Honestly the best Cajun fusion I've eaten, gives Louisiana an honest run for their money! Seriously great craft cocktails and a pretty top notch selection for a drive bar too. They also have the best live music for local and surrounding states/city's in CC! 10/10 recommend for tourist and locals alike! Don't be frightened by the outward appearance! You may meet the owners Zane and Candace who are literally the best people!

Wow, don't let the appearance fool you. Great food in a quality "dive bar" vibe. I had the hash, combo of shrimp boudian and andouille with a fried egg on top. Wife had the pork tacos. Both were delicious. Had we not been intrigued by the great reviews, we might not have even stopped. SO GLAD WE DID.

Stumbled upon Black Monk after searching on Google for somewhere new to try. The reviews did not lie! Cassie was our bartender, she was friendly and provided great customer service. The blackened shrimp tacos were delicious! I would recommend and will be back again next time I'm in town.

The joint: Perfect little dive bar in Corpus Christi! Exactly what you need, dark lighting, chill bar staff, and love music on the weekends. There’s a pool table for the sharks, foosball for the bros, and a couple of pinball machines for the socially awkward. Rounded off with a fenced in back patio area for all the schmokers ;) The food: We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the shrimp and flounder were! Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked dynamite. Great selection of beers. Bob Barker would put his stamp on this place because the price is right!

Ive had fish tacos plenty other places, and I'm usually like, meh wish I ordered something interesting. These are the best fish tacos in the history of mankind. On Tuesday you get a second order free. Place looks like a dump from the outside, and the inside is not much better. Please don't go here. I'm not trying to have it get popluar and crowded and then I have to wait for my tacos...

Taco Tuesday is why we go. The fried fish tacos are the best. Fresh and spicy! The bartender we usually have on Tuesday is very friendly and knowledgeable with the different mixed drinks. Service is great. Background music is as loud as you'd expect a bar to be but you can still usually have a conversation with whoever is next to you. However if you're calling in a to go order they might not hear your order correctly so check to go orders before you leave. In the small chance it is wrong or missing something they fix it so quickly that it's not a big inconvenience at all.

Amazing place with great food, extremely skilled staff, and a comfortable vibe. Small craft beer selection on tap with a nice variety, while the packaged selections are surprisingly balanced with plenty of options. Always a great place to visit. They also have crafty cocktails that never disappoint. Still amazing.

This dive is a gem and the food was delicious and cleanliness maintained very well. 10 beers two shots, two appetizers and two burgers for 75 bucks.

Not a native of CC but come here two to three times a year and never knew about this bar. It definitely is dive, and dark. But the music was excellent! Band on the night I was here was Left Hand Devil who had an incredible guitarist. It was worth the low price beer. Any bar to ne which has great live music eclipses everything else. Stop in for a just a bit and check it out.

Really good food for really good prices. On Tuesday it's taco Tuesday so you can get an order of flounder tacos and get another order for free. Its just three tacos and no side. Also, you can sit at a table but you still need to order from the bar tender.

I've been twice now and love their tacos. Started with the blackened shrimp tacos and my husband got the ahi tuna tacos. Really good and came back for the flounder taco BOGO Tuesday special. My husband got blackened flounder and I got the fried ones. Both were delicious! However, when I placed my order, I asked for the Spicy Mayo on the side. When both orders came out all the way, the chef said that's what the ticket said and thats what we get. I didn't appreciate the attitude or the lack of concern. But we were starving so we ate it as is. So my only caveat is if you are picky or can't eat certain things, don't go on BOGO Taco Tuesday, it's too busy for the staff to keep up with special orders.

I LOVE black monks tavern. They always have great bands/music, it always feel very familiar, great drink prices, great patio, good food, especially the blackened voodoo burger, anything with ahi tuna, all the seafood tacos, homemade chips,and Cajun tacos or fries....just amazing food, great people and atmosphere and prices all around.

Every bartender is always super nice and not in your face chatty. It's not dirty or a hole in the wall type place. It is small but more like comfortably small. Great place to see local metal and/or punk bands for free. Owners are just as easy to talk with as other customers. Very chill place

Definitely one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" places. We were given a recommendation to go here, so we did. When we arrived, it had just gotten dark, and the parking lot was still mostly empty, with a single light shining on the skull & bones. Since we had our 2-year-old with us, my wife said we should just leave and go elsewhere, but I said we should at least peek in. The interior was nearly empty except for 3 patrons at the bar, but the staff seemed friendly, so we decided to give it a try. Boy are we glad we did! Though they had no high chairs, they more than welcomed us, AND our daughter. Everyone was super nice, from the staff to the other patrons -- very friendly without being overbearing. And the food was outstanding! If we're ever in Corpus Christi, we'll definitely make a return visit.

We went to the tavern on two consecutive days ( a Monday and Tuesday) to try the food. Unfortunately, the kitchen was unexpectedly closed on both days. 😕 However, we found the bartenders friendly and welcoming during both visits and enjoyed the atmosphere for a late afternoon drink. We will try again the next time we are in Corpus!

I like their pool table. The food never looks appealing at all but I haven't tried it. It's a lot of seafood options. The male bartender with the beard is really cool and made me some amazing Bloody Mary's.

Ok, so this is a seedy little dive bar that has GREAT FOOD! ... You have to be PATIENT, however, because the cook gently and lovingly crafts one order at a time, the way an Italian Grandma would. So, if you don't mind sipping your favorite beer or spirit sitting and chatting with friends on a swivel stool with zero back support for an hour or so while watching your favorite sporting event and suddenly amazing food appears as a surprise, because it's been so long you forgot you ordered anything, this might be a place to check out.

Got recommended this place by many on reddit.Place was full with a biker gang.We sat at a table that had a bell on the wall, I touched the rope of the bell and it rang one time.Which prompted the bartender to yell out something like "Be careful w that bell, you don't know what that means,You don't want to ring that with these guys in here" ??? As an out of towner, was looking Corpus nightlife spots. Thought we’d give this a try, saw the liquor selection and thought maybe they’d know their stuff. But no, terrible cocktails. But hey, guess it’s a dive bar. Wouldn’t have been a problem till we saw the bill. Got charged the same for quality drinks at another bar in town afterwards. Gonna stay away from here though.

I don't know why places like this have to be shady do not pay with card make sure u pay cash they will add extra. I bought a few drinks and burger with cash and i tipped. I thought i was gonna have a few more drinks so i gave her my card. Decided not to, she said "we have a minimum charge do you want to pay cash?" I said yes and payed cash with a tip. They still charged my card and added another tip. Lol I'm just mad bc of the principal. shady

They seriously have great food here the kitchen staff is very proud of what they do unfortunately the bartender Ashley is completely garbage she is unfriendly and extremely rude unless you're her friend or one of her buddies she has no interest in giving you any kind of service. I've been in there three times once it was busy twice it was slow and all three times Ashley and she sucks. The ownership seriously needs to consider replacing her.
