Kashiwa Ramen is a popular spot known for its delicious ramen, especially the black garlic ramen and Mentaiko Cream Mazemen. Customers rave about the friendly and attentive service, quick food delivery, and customizable ramen options. The gyoza and takoyaki are also highly recommended.
Tip: Try the Mentaiko Cream Mazemen during the summer. Also, consider the black garlic ramen if you don't eat pork.

One of the best ramen places I know of in OC. It didn't seem too busy on a weekday dinner so that was nice to get seated and our food so fast. The ramen itself is filled with delicious toppings and the meat was very tender and flavorful. The ramen is quite a rich and intense broth so that could be a good or bad thing depending on your pallet. Service was so friendly and attentive also! The only downside is that it's on the price side but I'll gladly come back since it was so delicious. Food: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Value: 7/10
Kashiwa Ramen in Orange County has rightfully earned its spot on Yelp's Top 100 Ramen Spots in California, and it's easy to see why! This ramen shop offers a variety of noodle dishes to suit every craving . . . and every season - try their COLD RAMEN for these hot summer months! But really, whether you're in the mood for traditional hot ramen, soupless dry noodles, dipping noodles (really cool!), or that refreshing cold ramen, they've got it! The owner is really sweet and his passion shows. One visit is enough to have you craving their ramen again and again (like me right now, lol).
Mmm, mmm, mmm. There's a lot of choices for ramen around Orange County, and many have them have been underwhelming. But, Kashiwa is an exception. It's small, unassuming and rather simple in menu. But, the pricing, flavors and service makes this a new favorite of mine.
the ramen was really good! they have a fun ordering system, many customization options! they split our bowl into two when we told them we were sharing, which we've never had anyone do before. it was so thoughtful. the straight noodles were really good! i do recommend blowing on your soup before eating, i definitely burnt my mouth a bit from the hot spicy oil as i was too excited lol. it was such a friendly, tasty place!
At HIDE-CHAN RAMEN, our ramen starts with a slow-simmered tonkotsu broth, cooked for hours to achieve a deep, creamy richness without heaviness. We use traditional Hakata-style thin noodles — firm, springy, and designed to perfectly hold the broth. Every element, from soup to noodles, is balanced for clarity, depth, and comfort. Rooted in Hakata tradition and refined through decades of craftsmanship, our ramen is honest, rich, and deeply satisfying — made the HIDE-CHAN way. Do respect the guy who is always dedicated to one thing for his entire life !
I tried Kashiwa Ramen for the first time and went with the black garlic ramen with chicken broth—absolutely fantastic. The broth was rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the black garlic added just the right depth. The noodles had a great bite, and everything came together perfectly. Service was excellent too—attentive without being overbearing, and the food came out quickly even though the place was busy. Overall, a great ramen spot that hits all the marks: flavor, consistency, and solid service. I’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Kashiwa is a cozy little ramen place. Here, you order ramen by filling out a sheet of choices for type, broth, protein, noodles, taste, and toppings. The ramen prices were on the order form. The menu was more for reference. The ramen was pretty good. We also loved our server. She was friendly and super sweet whenever we ask for anything. Pro Tip: For taste, don't choose the lite option for broth, especially for miso. I made this mistake and the broth came out pretty plain and diluted with little flavor. My partner got normal and it was much better. * Karaage 4.5/5 - The fried chicken came out piping hot and fresh. The outside was crispy and scrumptious. The inside was super juicy. It was a bit light in flavor, though. You will want to dip it in the accompanying sauce which was a combination of sweet chili sauce and a sauce that looked like spicy mayo (but lighter and not as good). * Spicy Miso Ramen 5/5 - The normal spicy miso ramen had great flavor. It came with a half boiled egg, bean sprouts, corn, and butter on the side. The spiciness was between mild and medium. Get the wavy noodles. They're thicker than the straight noodles, so there's more of a bite. The chashu pork was thinly cut and had a charred flavor while still being tender.
Best Ramen I ever had. Quick and very friendly Service. Beer on Tap ist super delicious.
We ordered spicy black garlic pork and spicy chicken raman… both are really yummy. Waitress was ready to answer any questions. I like they have lot more options than other Ramen places, like curly noodles, swirl, etc.
The gyoza was great. I like how they were flat, making the sides crunchy. I don't usually get chicken broth but actually I really liked it. It makes the broth a little lighter than the pork which feels a little less fatty. The takoyaki was also on point. I can see why people like this place. The flavors make it unique. Yum.
Great food and amazing service- they let us try the Octopus dish for free! Awesome flavor. The Ramen was so good. Will for sure be back.
Cannot say enough how good this ramen was and how incredible the service was! They happily accommodated our family with 3 kids and a wild toddler! The ramen came out so fast and was our favorite ramen we’ve had in the area.
Still my weekly ramen spot. Summer time is a favorite too because they put their Mentaiko Cream Mazemen on the menu. One of my favorite things to eat. You won’t regret it. If you’re not familiar with Mazemen, it is a mixing ramen so when you receive your bowl, mix everything up and enjoy! Tip: get an order of fries to toss into the remaining Mazemen sauce after you finish the noodles. 美味しかったよ! ごちそうさまでした!

Delicious (build your own) ramen, friendly & attentive service. The crispy fries are amazing!

Very nice authentic Japanese ramen with many varieties, soup, dry, dippings. Nice place.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. The prices, taste, and service are amazing. The ramen is sooo good. The chicken and takoyaki are amazing. Note that the takoyaki is LA style with a crispy outside (which I prefer). The happy hour deal is amazing. Do note that they say the ramen spicy levels are very spicy, but they aren’t crazy spicy. The max spicy level is not bad at all.
By far the best Japanese Ramen joints in OC! Even that's an understatement. The chef and waiter are absolutely amazing. The noodles were next level delicious. The beer was ice cold. The chicken in the noodles and a an appetizer was melt in your mouth good! If you're in the area, please check out this establishment.
It was my second time coming here. I ordered something different from before to try something out. Nothing on their part I just was not a big fan of the dish I ordered it just was not my flavor profile but it was executed perfectly and I'm sure someone who knew the dish would of loved it. The owner saw my hesitation and was super understanding and even gave me a free ramen (that I knew I liked) to take home. I felt so bad but he insisted I took it home. A big thanks to the owner for doing something like that I really appreciate it :)
Really good ramen. I ordered the Spicy Black Garlic ramen with tonkotsu broth, pork, straight noodles, and green onion and wood ear mushrooms. Service was very prompt and the ramen arrived nice and hot. Nice spiciness with a bit of smoke flavor. Noodles cooked to perfection. Would def come here again.
Great service, nice staff, and amazing food! Definitely recommend
Second time coming to this ramen restaurant. Their food and service has always been wonderful!
Amazing food especially the black garlic ramen highly recommend this place
Might be the best veggie ramen I've ever had, the care and quality of ingredients was top notch. Can't beat $4.50 Biers either. One of the simplest things I appreciate is a perfectly jammy egg and they nailed it. Attention to the details is important here and I'm confident in their abilities to impress you as well. Damn, even the noodles were perfect.
Absolutely incredible ramen! I ordered the spicy black garlic ramen with tonkotsu broth and pork. I am going to dream of this ramen in my sleep, it’s that good. The spice level was perfect: not too hot, not too mild. It was rich, creamy, filling… what’s not to love? I highly recommend this place!
In my mind, this is a top notch Ramen place with some really great options. The noodles are always done perfectly and the broth is fantastic. It's easy to make a few tasty modifications here and they have plenty of options to choose from. However, the menu is extremely confusing and it presents a problem for those who are relatively new here. The menu needs to be rewritten. I hope they do so soon because it makes the ordering process unnecessarily cumbersome. However, if you are looking for a really tasty ramen in Costa Mesa this is one of my number 1 go to spots! I highly recommend it!
Hands down some of the best Ramen I've ever had, if not the best...and I am a Ramen junkie. Best aspect of this small place is your Ramen can be completely customizable, from the broth base, flavors added to the Broth, Noodle style & hardness level, spice level, protein, toppings, etc. I ordered the Spicy Black Garlic Tonkotsu w/ medium cooked wavy noodles. So Freakin savory & delicious. I happened to be working in the area & hope to be back soon. Shoot, this is the kind of place I'll drive out of my way to come back to but next time bring others to enjoy it with me.
Great place, been here multiple times. They only get better with time.
Got the spicy black garlic ramen with swirl broth which is my favourite ramen I have eaten in OC this far. However, while the char siu seasoning leaves a bit to be desired the broth and the char makes up for it plenty. Their mazemen is really good too. Get the classic with poached egg.
Been coming here for the past 2 years, the ramen’s really delicious! Owner’s a nice guy as well!
Our family of 4 love coming here. Toddler friendly. Kids love it; we love it. Service is also super fast.
Very nice staff. The girls that wait the tables are very sweet, patient, and helpful. From the first time we visited, to the times we returned bringing our friends, they are so pleasant. Even moreso every time. It was the first ramen restaurant I ever tried (being a fitness professional, it didn't fit my regimen) but those girls made SURE that I got exactly what I wanted, nothing I didn't or couldn't have, and it's been incredible every time. The only problem now is.... I'm spoiled and can never go to any other ramen place! I tried... Devastating! This place is the best!
OUTSTANDING! Best ramen my husband and I ever had. Spicy black garlic is so yummy. 10/10
This was some of the best ramen I’ve ever had, and I loved ramen in Japan. They really nailed it. The broth is perfect and the noodles are too. The pork, egg and other toppings are all on point and the ramen as a whole is well-balanced. The restaurant space has a cool vibe and decorations too. The servers were all kind, helpful and responsive. They do allow kids, but when I was there the music was hip hop and rap with no filter. I didn’t mind, so I’m not sure if they would have been open to changing it if someone requested. Overall I loved this place and will definitely come back every time I’m in the area.
I got the Takoyaki and spicy black garlic ramen with half chicken and half pork broth. It was fire🔥🔥❗️❗️the broth was very rich and spicy (I got level 2 spicy). The Takoyaki was a bit crunchy on the outside and very soft inside along with the sauce. Although the ramen came out first and then the Takoyaki which was a bit strange but I’m not complaining, everything was amazing! Will come back!
Oh wow! I am impressed. We ordered Takeout (ok, I admit i did🙈) it was the Tonkotsu Ramen (advertised as: Same recipe from Hide-Chan Ramen from NYC. 9 years in Michelin Guide Book NYC) and it was soo good. It had the best flavor of all the Ramen i tried before. It was really really really good. I wish the Porkbelly would've been freshly fried but oh well. The flavor was unbelievable tame but also really deep. It was just like sitting at grandma's house , when it freshly snowed. having red cheeks, and cold hands, eating a bowl of chicken noodle soup. I can only recommend this to anyone! The Gyoza were good too. I also ordered the Pork Box and somehow the meat tasted like tangy Miso or a "pork Sauerbraten". I did not like the flavor after the beautiful Ramen. I made it taste better by adding the rest of the soup to the box. Overall really excited to come back!
Excellent ramen, friendly staff, fast service. Got the spicy miso vegetarian ramen. It was so flavorful!
Have you ever see the finish line ahead but you just can't reach it? That was us when we order 2 ramens and a karaage for 2 because their portion is HUGEEE for both its price and our stomach. Their chicken ramen is unique that I haven't tasted anywhere else. The tsukemen is generally good (given that we're half full with the karaage already)
Went in the mid afternoon and it was still a full house. We tried 3 different types, spicy black garlic, spicy ramen and miso. All had really good flavor and the noodles were cooked to just the right chewiness. We chose spicy level 2 which gave it just a little more kick but not numbing level spicy. The only thing I thought was off is that the egg seemed really small, like it was a medium instead of large egg.
I really love this place and their Ramen! Their Ramen is REAL! They boil chicken at the store by themselves for 16 hours. The soup is really good. I especially love Chicken paitan soup, chicken meat and straight noodles. After you eat, you can take soup home and use microwave with that soup and a raw egg which you mix. You can customize soup, noodles, proteins, and the toppings everything at the store! I love the dumplings and fried chicken(Karaage) too. Very Juicy. I think this ramen store is the #1 in LA and OC.
Best Ramen Place ever hands down! Owner is so kind and he makes the food. Takoyaki is great too. Authentic Japanese Ramen! The Miso and Black Garlic is so freaking good! Update 8/1/22 Went back for the 2nd time and the Ramen Flavor also tastes good!! I’ll always eat here for my ramen cravings. Always the best!
Solid. Tonkatsu broth is great. Some of the best we’ve had. Get the chicken karaage. Will definitely be back.
Love love love!!!! Great casual atmosphere with authentic taste!!!! The servers are great and very attentive. And the REASON WE LOVE RAMEN: the Tonkotsu Broth here is stewed for 16hrs and the taste is beautifully creamy with a rich pork flavor. The umami is phenomenal, not just in the noodles, but the sides were amazing as well. Who else gives an overflowing basket-full of karage? Kashiwa Ramen THAT'S WHO!!! By far the best ramen I have had all over town. Chef knows what he is doing.. and you definitely want to try it!!! 😋
Small, clean ramen shop with great service and solid ramen. Having lived in West LA for a decade, we frequented Sawtelle often to get our ramen fix. Now that we live in Anaheim, I was excited to learn that Baker St was colloquially known as Ramen Row, so we've been making our rounds and Kashiwa is our first choice so far (in OC ... Annex remains our #1 permanently). Tonkotsu broth is porky, fatty, bold, oily. Love that we can build our own ramen, but the signature bowls are also tasty and well balanced. Has connections to Totto Ramen and Hide-chan Ramen in NYC.
My daughter introduced me to this restaurant. Every time we've either gotten food to go or ate at their small establishment the food was always excellent.
👑Best ramen in southern California! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️WOW. VERY CLEAN taste. I can tell the chef likes to keep it super CLEAN. Food has clean flavor. Very hearty chicken base. I can tell the Chef put a lot of care and concentration into the soup base. The taste had hours of labor infused into the rich and hearty chicken base soup. There was no scent of raw visceral chicken flesh smell, which would’ve been a big turn off. The best ramen I have ever tasted in all of So Cal. Dare I say, reward worthy.
Tried this place first time. Loved the black garlic spicy ramen. Very flavorful. Loved the customization option. This will be my go to place for Ramen if I am in the area.
This place has great service and nice staff! Food is Delicious.
So I saw @goramen post this place on Instagram and was in Huntington Beach, so decided to take a quick detour and hit this spot. Small shop - felt a lot like being in Japan, especially since I sat at the counter. I hear the Tonkotsu might not even be the best broth here, but I generally go with that to get an idea of a spot. Have to say this was probably a Top 5 spot in SoCal for me. Excellent noodle texture - only thing I could nitpick is that the egg was a bit too done for my liking, and they were all out of Asahi and had to settle for Sapporo. 5 stars, for sure.
I’d recommend it. It may be the case that Kashiwa specializes in a chicken ramen, not a Tonkotsu. However, my heart is loyal to Tonkotsu and that is what I’m here for. I think the overall bowl was pretty good. The broth has a medium comforting richness, with a unique flavor accent. It isn’t rich enough to make you feel like you need to be wheeled out of the restaurant, but still rich enough to confidently know you are eating a Tonkotsu ramen. The noodles are really nothing special, being common factory noodles. However, combined with the broth, they just seemed to work really well in such a way to enhance the experience that either on their own couldn’t provide. The chashu has a satisfying savory sweet flavor, that is less intense than a full on flavor bomb. However it does have hints of dry texture and corresponding flavor in the meaty parts. I didn’t like the lingering taste of mirin in the egg, and the toppings were minimalistic and complementary. I do think the extensive menu is an interesting choice. Not only do they have chicken, Tonkotsu, and vegan ramens, they also offer tsukemen and apparently also a matcha tsukemen. Uhhhhhhh. Also, they have a poster on the wall for CBD ramen. Uhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Overall great first experience here. Love the high customizability by picking your flavor, broth, noodle, tenderness, and extras that makes you feel like you're getting your own unique ramen bowl. I chose the Tonkotsu Spicy black with 3 (highest) level spicy with firm tender wavy noodles. The flavor was rich with delicious and tender pork. It was a little less spicy than I was expecting for 3 out of 3, but I was still happy with the overall bowl and would get it again and again. As an appetizer we also got the chicken karaage which was plump and juicy with large pieces of fried chicken. The fried batter was light and delicate. Overall well worth the price and definitely recommend!
Another yummy ramen is discovered, follow me! Highlights of the menu: 1. Black garlic ramen 2. Mixed broth chicken ramen - with curly noodles 3. Extra eggs 4. Chicken karaage 5. Pork char-sui bowl This is definitely a spot to grab a bowl of ramen for lunch of after work. Yummy!! “It’s Ra-meant to be…”
Nice little ramen shop. They serve various types of Japanese noodle dishes including ramen, tsukemen and mazemen. Highly recommend the mazemen + karaage rice bowl. Overall, good food and service!
Just delicious 😋 the staff was so friendly and playful with us. The food was absolutely delicious. I will absolutely come back!
First time in, now I am hooked. Usually take a picture of good food but the tonkatsu smelled so scrumptious that I started eating before getting a good picture. The waitress was so helpful and helped place the order. Broth was rich in flavor, got the straight noodles which were perfect, pork was tender and melted as you bite into it. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area again.
The server yuki was extremely kind and attentive the food was absolutely delicious made by Brian which I had got the normal ramen with chicken brother and the karaage and it was delicious aswell.
Solid bowl of ramen. Got the black garlic bowl. Chashu was very soft. The yakitori was also juicy and tender with a slight char served steaming fresh off the grill
I LOVE this place. Been here a few times and the food is always delicious. The service is quite impressive as well. This is a cute and delicious spot to eat and drink!
Great Ramen spot! Been coming here for a while and it never disappoints. Delicious, consistent food with great service! Highly recommend!
Ordered gyoza and a mini karaage bowl for appetizers and tonkatsu ramen and Malatang ramen (seasonal dish) for our main dish. They said the malatang ramen is very spicy🔥(think buldak) but they made a mild (but still a little spicy) version for us since we weren't sure if the regular version would be too spicy. All the food was delicious; we will return and try the malatang without modifying the spice level and definitely re-order the gyoza. Service was good, but the number of tables are limited so you may have a wait on busy nights.
Absolutely love this place and it is my go-to for ramen! I don’t eat pork and miss out on the flavor of the broth but they do a killer black garlic ramen. Food comes out quick and is delicious! Has a cozy feel to it and is a lowkey spot that should be more mainstream! Fire!
Best ramen I’ve had in a while! The broth, sides, and meat were all delicious. I got the original spicy ramen broth with chicken, plus two appetizers — gyoza and chicken with rice — and a pitcher of Sapporo. Everything hit the spot! Great food, great vibes. Highly recommend this place! 🥰
Ordered spicy black mushroom ramen and was very delicious. One of the best ramen I have had. Quick service. Great atmosphere. The fries were surprisingly tasty. Some of the best fries I have tried. I would recommend this place.

For sure my go to place for tasty ramen. The food never disappoints and the service is outstanding. See you soon
This is a cute ramen spot. It’s not a big restaurant but it’s a great place for a quick lunch. They make it easy to order and have a lot of different options. I got the Mazemen which is a soupless ramen. I would recommend getting their karaage. It’s 5 huge pieces of chicken and it’s absolutely delicious.

I got the Tsukemen dipping ramen. Bamboo was tough and undercooked, egg was unflavored and overcooked (plain hard-boiled egg), and the limes were under ripe. Noodle and broth were great though! I got the pork and it comes in thin slices (4). The service was great and the food came out quickly. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable with many decorations.
I'm a ramen fan and look for new places to try. They have an unusual ordering style which meant I got no vegetables in my soup. Probably my fault, but it wasn't clear on their ordering paper that they gave me. The miso broth was a little salty for my taste although I ordered the lite. Bonus points for a whole egg. Definitely worth giving another try.
Friday night dinner out!! 🥰 A great location for an early start to the night... Ramen made-to-order, along with some appetizer options and rice sides. The staff was friendly and the service was great! Tonight's selection included 2 orders of their gyoza for appetizers - they were Bomb!! 🧨And for our mains.... A ramen bowl with chicken broth & pork 🍜 A miso ramen with pork and extra egg 🥚 and black garlic ramen with chicken 🍲!!🥢 Paired with a #calpico to drink, it was a great way to start the weekend!
I came here because of the high rating after nearby work. I was intrigued by the ramen since I have seen a lot of ramen shops on TV. I ordered a Ramen bowl as shown on my order sheet. I got the spicy miso soup base with the mixed chicken and pork soup. The bowl was very hot to the touch. The ramen liquid tasted fantastic, but was lots spicier than I was prepared for (but I got used to it). The meat was cut very thin. At first, I thought there wasn't enough meat but I decided to just accept the experience since I never ate ramen before. In the end I was satisfied with how big the meal was and didn't miss the extra meat. I noticed that many customers ordered extra meat on the side. Maybe next time... There were some woody parts in the food that I didn't like. I didn't get charged for my extra item I ordered in the bowl so maybe that was what I didn't like and they just took it off the bill. I paid with a good tip in case there was an error on the final bill. Would I go back? Sure. I might not choose the only spicy base next time and maybe would choose extra meat (or maybe not). I didn't like the music, left a suggestion of Japanese jazz rather than the hip hop or whatever they were playing that felt like it was there for the cooks but not for the diners.
Based on Tonkotsu ramen. There was way too much pork fat in my broth (might be preference). Having worked at a ramen soup; cook must have forgotten the swirl and scoop method to get an optimal mix of broth and fat. Would give it another try, but probably stick to my usually ramen shop in an office building in Orange.
Tried Kashiwaramen for the first time, the Ramen was very average and okay. One bowl was the average cost of $20. I wasn’t blown away by the taste, noodles were standard.
The broth in the Tsukemen was so light it almost tasted like water (even after I added salt). The broth was also lukewarm. I'm not a ramen connoisseur by any means but I've had many bowls of Tsukemen in Tokyo and this falls very far off compared to the average. I was hoping for better because of all the good reviews :( The regular ramen seems to be alright from what my friends say. +1 Star for student discount tho!
Either the owners or whoever they allow to run their tiktok page, are being publically racist. They posted a video of a bowl of ramen being made, it had a lot of hand contact from someone not wearing gloves touching the food, which can draw a lot of negative comments on that platform. One comment from user @santiii1942 read, "This aint india guys the guy is clean" The restaurant's tiktok account liked this comment. They also left a long comment in the general comment section explaining, correctly, that not wearing gloves can lead to cleanlier practices when handling food, but this does show there was an actual person taking these actions on this account and viewing the comments, not just going through liking everything automatically. Shame on whoever it was from this establishment that liked that comment.
They forgot all the add ons with two orders of ramen. Also ordered 2 extra soups/broths. Got regular. Called in to let them know and was told it’s an error because they’re busy. JOKE. Also, he told me the extra soup is included in the container. This is literally half a container… it is not in there. Was also told and I quote “you don’t need that much broth”. First and last time ordering from this place.
