A convenient place to meet family for me. Really good food and reasonably priced.
We love this place! Great food, wonderful staff and fair prices. This is my family's "Go To" Mexican restaurant. They even call us Familia!
The food is excellent, service is very quick and courteous. I highly recommend this restaurant to eat in our carry out
We have been going here for years and the food has always been good. To me, the nachos are awesome, but everything is good. I've always had a good time here.
Great TexMex. I especially like the chili relleno and tamales. The refried beans have a yummy smoky taste. The salsa and Pico de Gallo are standouts.
My favorite place in crandall. Love the chicken quesadilla. And the hot sauce is great. The waitress' always remember us and are just so nice.
Always very yummy food! This place is close to work so we make frequent visits here. The staff is friendly and attentive, and food comes out very quickly! Highly recommend!
Really delicious food, smiling and very polite servants. I see some reviews stating that there's poor service in regard to the actual waitresses, not the case at all. Clean place too. Worth your time and money. Try it.
My family and I were checking out downtown Crandall and stumbled upon this really neat restaurant. We could smell the food from across the street. That was enough to decide where we were to eat for lunch. My kids each had a taco plate, and my wife and I ordered the beef fajitas for two. The food tasted like it was homemade. The rice was not your typical Spanish rice; you could tell effort was made. Fajitas were tender, juicy, and flavorful. Needless to say, nothing was left behind on our plates. We will be visiting again.
Friendly service; home-cooked food. The chicken and rice soup was a great choice for a cool/brisk fall afternoon. I'm new to the area, and am looking forward to trying other menu items.
My husband and I went for dinner and the service was great. The food tastes delicious and the portions are good.
My favorite spot in Crandall ❤️ The food is always fresh and delicious! I get the same thing every time and it never disappoints. Fajita tacos, chips and salsa, and sopapilla for dessert.
One of the best places to eat in the area. My employees always ask for gift cards from here for special rewards. Staff is very friendly. Definitely stop in for a great meal.
Great little local Mexican restaurant. They have plenty of menu choices for everyone. The foods good, I usually try something different every time and have not been disappointed yet. In the land of Tex-Mex this is a nice place for something authentic.
The food was delicious and hot, just the way it should be! The ladies working today were very sweet.

I didn't take pictures but wish I had. Food was amazing. I had the L0 and my wife had the L6. Staff was curious and funny and the food came out quickly and hot. Definitely will be returning and referring this place to friends.
I loved dining in here. It was relaxing and everything was nice and smooth. Great service. Great food. I definitely recommend El Jacalito in Crandall.
We've dined here several times. The food is tasty and prices are good. The warmed tostada chips are great. Service is good; staff is friendly. Can't think of any negatives - I'm sure we will be back!
Five minutes to closing, and they let us in. Good food. Friendly staff
I Usually get the shrimp cocktail or caldo de res Staff is awesome!, they treat you like family.
Smaller place with great food and service. Worth the trip. Prices are reasonable and food is great.
I live in San Antonio. This is great Mexican food

Food and Service was good. The salsa and chips are addictive. Food takes time with large groups as expected. Pleasant atmosphere and prices are very reasonable. I will return.
The food is always good, hot and from Scratch. Service is good if you are understood. Best salsa in Texas! Hands down the homemade salsa has no competition.
Food is good. Service is really slow (and they're never busy). Place could use a remodel and nice cleanup.
Quality Tex-Mex with adequate service. Food is consistently good but the facilities need to be better maintained or upgraded. Prices are very reasonable and portions are good.
Food was decent not outstanding but the service is superb.
The customer services was great. The food was good but my kids plates felt like they just came off the stove. My wife's food was warm and seemed to have sat for a few min before it came out to the table.
This place was a surprise. As a small restaurant in middle of a small downtown square I wasn't expecting much. The food is good though and we've been back several times. Staff is friendly and service has been quick.
We have visited this restaurant a few times and the food has always been good. Very friendly and attentive servers. I just hope that they would keep a family atmosphere and remove the picture with the Spanish cuss word.
The food was good. The service was awsome, my glass was never empty. Quite and frendly place.
Over all good food and good service, drinks pieces per refill, so not great on that front. Bit the food is fresh and tasty. Be warned the parking is not great either.
Definitely Tex-Mex at the heart of Crandall.

Average. Had fajita nachos. Waitress was nice but either doesn't understand English or doesn't pay attention. Asked her for extra cheddar cheese instead of sour cream. The sour was removed and she brought a side of American cheese. But charged me $2 for it. Only a few small pieces of fajita. Salsa is so hot you can't eat it. I asked for half sweet, half unsweet tea; got unsweet. I told her I had all unsweet. She said, Oh, we don't have sweet tea and pointed to Sweet N Low. I have eaten here before. Just not worth it. Wished I could give a better comment.
Slow service and food not very good. It was Mothers day and maybe they were shorthanded or something because every other time I had been there the food was very good and fast and helpful service.
Formerly great Mom-and-Pop local Tex-Mex restaurant is now slipping downhill on quality of food and service. When we last ate there, we both had dishes with Chile verde sauce. For the first time in the years we've eaten there, the sauce was extremely hot, bringing tears to our eyes. Normally this sauce is mild, little heat but great flavor. The manager, when informed, showed an attitude of 'so what'. A new Tex-Mex restaurant is opening in town soon, looking forward to trying it out.
OK, I will start off by giving them credit for opening their family owned business....OK now that is out of the way. The wait is ENTIRELY TOO LONG!! The food is OK it is what you say...YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET!!!! (Although it is a little overpriced- due to a family owned business) The bathrooms are Gross! The building also stinks and could use some remodeling! Overall it is local and family owned. They just need to save up some money and do some remodeling!
This restaurant has it ups and downs. There are dishes that definitely need work as well as dishes that are worthy of three stars. Menu items #51 & 52 seem to be consistent in their quality and are dishes that I would recommend. Their fajitas are ok but one can definitely find better in the area. No alcohol sold here; therefore, no margaritas or beers. Soda drinks are sold by the can with no refills. However, their iced tea has been consistently good. The complimentary salsa also has consistency issues ranging from level of heat, taste, and chunkiness. The squirt bottles have a tendency to get plugged and creates a mess when a chunk of tomato or onion finally breaks free. As far as service, it really depends on who waits on you. They have servers who shouldn't be waiting on customers at all because of their attitude and lack of customer attention.

We stop here on our way to dallas early one morning and lets just say this was the first and last time we will visit. The food is ok but the service was just not good. We got there and they sat us down on the other side of their seating space they took our drink orders and then proceeded to forget about us. My husband had to go and find a server so we could place our order maybe 30 min later then after we order it took them at least 40 min to get our food out mind you their was only two other people at the restaurant beside us.
No sweet tea. Queso was bland and watery and came out so scorching hot we could barely eat it. There were only 4 other tables there at noon on a Friday (all 2-3 ppl tables) yet it took 25 mins to make a plate of nachos, which came out covered in jalapeños. When I said I didn't want jalapeños she asked if I told her that when I ordered, which I did not because it did not say anywhere on the menu that nachos came with jalapeños. She then checked the menu and saw that I was correct and asked if I could just pick them off, but I was sharing with my 5 yo who does not like spicy stuff so I said no I need a new plate and she seemed very irritated about it. It then took another 15 mins to get the new plate of nachos and they barely had any toppings on them and the chips were soggy. This is my 3rd time here in the 7 years I've lived out here, and all 3 experiences have been like this. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but it's now obvious this is their standard service and quality. I'm giving 2 stars because the cheese they used on the nachos was good.

Ive been here a handful of times throughout my life. Never like going here because the food is terrible and service sucks. This last time I went I ordered fajitas thinking how can you mess up fajitas? It was just plain typical fajitas. Nothing special. My son enjoyed the menudo but hes 5 and probably doesn't know any better
Good friend took me there..long drive. He's been going there for yrs..I don't know why. Got enchilada dinner..Ponchos was as good..maybe better. He like his grilled chicken. We were the only people there right after lunch hour..I see why. Never want to go back. Long drive from Dallas for a bad experience.

Would not recommend this place to anyone. Tried to have lunch was seated and drink order taken and then watched other guests arrive after us and get complete service while we were ignored from this point on. Never even received the drinks we ordered . It was made clear to us that because we were white and not regular costumers we were not going to be served.
This restaurant is usually pretty good but today was horrible. The service was incredibly disappointing and the food was subpar. My family and I will take our business elsewhere from now on.
Just left and im not impressed at all tge waitresses rushed me so i picked the shrimp enchiladas which tasted exactly like fancy feast smells..... The queso is made with the cheapest ingredients it tasted exactly like water.... The only thing good to me was the salsa i paid 35 bucks to eat slasa.... Very unhappy!!!
We planned to meet for breakfast. We waited then attempted to enter. At nearly 30 minutes after (posted) opening time the restaurant is not open for service. It's an oddity for certain. We're off to find a new place to sit for breakfast.
We have lived in Crandall for a while and never checked this place out due to local talk. I got curious though. I mean, we live within walking distance and it’s Mexican food so I needed to try it. The food was expensive and quite disgusting. We ordered some basic things - queso and tacos. It was on the same level as Panchos or cafeteria food IMO which was disappointing but not surprising as I had been warned. The restaurant is dated but also dusty and could use a thorough cleaning. Needless to say, we didn’t stay and walked out spending around $20 and not really eating.
Took my dad here for his birthday on 5/13/23, and the whole family loved it! The waitress was very attentive, and anything extra we asked for was brought to us quickly. We loved this quaint restaurant and will definitely return. EDIT: I returned to this restaurant on 7/3/23, and I had to change my review. The waitress we had that day was rude and would walk away while we were still talking to her. Granted, she was the only waitress working, so we could be understanding in her grumpiness, but there was only one other table besides my mom and myself. When we would ask for things, she would get an attitude, and it was honestly so uncomfortable. The food was subpar, and quite frankly, our whole visit was a waste of time and money. We're pretty sure our waitress overcharged us on the ticket, but her handwriting was so sloppy that we really couldn't make sense of what we were actually charged. On the plus side, the young lady who cashed us out was really friendly. In the end, we will not be returning again.

The food took way to long. Came in on a sunday at 11:30 and it took it about an hour to get to the table. They took long to come and take out order and even longer to bring the food. It wasn’t that busy when we walked in and we where seated fast but the food took long. They agua frescas tasted bland. They brought us the tortillas before our main plates. Like for 10min before our food in addition to the almost hour we where waiting. The staff seamed to pay more attention to the tables around us brought them drinks and their food waster. One of the waitresses seemed kinda stuck up but maybe she was having a bad day. The wait wasn’t worth the price not the food. But try it out yourself:)
Food was terrible. The beef was spoiled got us sick. The queso if you call watery yellow Orange liquid didn’t even taste like cheese. The chicken was canned chicken and tasted like metallic. The only thing they have is the chips and salsa.
