Stunning location with breath taking views from the hotel. The reception is not 24 hrs. Rooms were a bit old but neat. They had a 25% discount for breakfast in the costa or macdonalds at the services.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Peaceful Stay with Stunning Lake Views I had a great stay at Days Inn by Wyndham Kendal Killington Lake! The location is fantastic—right by the lake, offering beautiful, peaceful views, especially at sunrise and sunset. It’s a perfect stopover for travelers heading to or from the Lake District, with easy access from the M6. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with essentials like tea/coffee facilities and a decent-sized TV. Despite being near the motorway, it's surprisingly quiet, making for a restful night. The staff were friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. While there’s no on-site restaurant, there’s a service station nearby with food options. If you're looking for a convenient, budget-friendly stay with a scenic touch, this is a great choice!

Great value. Great staff. Basic rooms but does the job.

D

Great location, rooms a bit dated and could do with a refurb, some guests could not shut doors without banging them which is annoying at 5am.

J
James Manning

Friendly staff and a good location. The rooms are pretty good for the price.

Great service. Good rooms. Fantastic view

Ideally situated for travelling South. Dog friendly. Food available next door. Friendly staff on reception.

S
Sharon Anderson

Make no mistake this is a services so may be some noise although our stay was fairly quiet except for one dog who didn't like mornings apparently. We did have to wait awhile on check in as our room had accidentally been given to someone else, numbers got mixed up. Staff was very apologetic, happy to help with anything. Kind and friendly. They are the real gem of the place. The room was good sized and clean. Standard hotel room but overlooking the little lake so was a nice touch. Bit hot so could use some air conditioning. Overall was a clean pleasant stay with lovely staff that made a real effort.

We stayed as a family with children and dogs passing through to Scotland for one Night. The reception staff were outstanding. Understanding that we were travelling a separate arrival times - one due as the reception was due to close. She was so helpful. As on other reviews, the rooms are tried. However they are clean And the service worked well. We sat and had costa toast overlooking the lakes. Beautiful.

Very pleasant receptionists, room very clean and presentable albiet not top furniture. Beds very acceptable, bathroom clean and functionable. We will be back later this year.

J

Beautiful, clean, huge rooms. Big bathroom with a bath, shower AND hot water. Kettle and TV in room. Crisp white duvets and 24hr tea/coffee top-ups. Warm and quiet. And so reasonably priced!

J
Josh Bennett

Really good honest hotel. Don’t get me wrong, very basic and fit sure three rooms could do with a little refresh. Simple replacing the brassware on the taps and showers would lift it. For the money paid it was great. Super friendly welcoming staff. There’s always someone at reception. Good views from the lake. Brilliant overnight stay.

For a cheap pit-stop stay along the M6, and close to the Lake District this place is great. I did not have high hopes booking in to a service station hotel along the M6, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The lake view is a wonderful sight in the morning, and the road noise was very minimal. Overall the rooms could maybe do with a bit more of an extensive cleaning regime with fluff and dust on the skirting board and carpet, but other than that, very little to criticise. If you're looking for a cheap pit stop along the M6 with a short drive to the Lakes, you can't go far wrong (or cheaper) than this.

N
Nicola Thompson

Love the lake, getting to sit outside after arrival and late into the evening watching the birds was wonderful, the only reason this was 4 and not 5 for the room was because the room needed a pick me up. The rooms are really quiet and you'd not know you were staying at the service station. If you want a view of the lake, try to get an odd number room.

D
Daisy Shelley

The receptionist was very welcoming when we arrived. The rooms were good and comfortable. Lovely views of the lake.

I
Ian Bonham

Although the hotel it's self is a little tired, the team looking after it and the guests are brilliant. We were made feel very welcome and nothing was a hassle. Location is perfect as a base for adventures around the Lakes. I'd thank the staff for making us so welcome, and I hope Days Inn recognise what a great property they have here and develop it further. A highly recommended base camp for your Lakes adventures.

L
Linda Green

Very friendly helpful staff. The room was warm and comfortable with a beautiful view. So convenient travelling to and from Scotland at a motorway service station and competitively priced. The bathroom needs updating but did not detract from my stay.

D
Deborah Dilkes

Great view was the best bit, all staff were very helpful, we loved that we could stay with our little dog. Hotel is dated but very clean and our bed was comfy. It was just the job-broke our journey up for us without having to travel miles off the motorway.

Y
Yosi Raz

what's good: 1. Perfect location with a real lake view - simply amazing 2. A very spacious room 3. 2 comfortable separate beds with 2 pillows per bed. 4. Ground floor no stairs at all 5. Free parking 6. Checkin until 2300 7. Hot water kettle and coffee set in the room 8. Fair prices. What's not good 1. An old bathroom with a weak water flow and water that is not hot enough. 2. No electrical sockets near the bed

G
G Z

It is absolutely value for money. All facilities matching the price, does all the job. However, the bedding could have be better. The cleaning team could have done better to replace any stained sheet or cover, which the management team should be aware of. There were stains and hairs. Parking was great. Everything was straight forward. Great stop for either going up to north or down to south. btw: you will need to drive another 8-10 miles down to south for a u-turn if you were heading north. Plan in advance if you were in a hurry in the morning.

P
Peter Rogerson

The location is good and my stay was value for money. Stayed here around 4 years ago and was hoping it might have been upgraded. Sadly not. The staff members I met were friendly and welcoming - but the rooms are very very dated. The same furniture and bathrooms from the time it was a Travelodge 30 years ago. It needs a good upgrade - but it was clean and the bed and bedding comfortable.

K
Kasia S.

The rooms are quite tired and in need of refurbishment. However, the hotel is in a perfect location for a stopover when travelling from the South to Scotland. The lake views from the hotel are lovely, and both McDonald's and Costa Coffee are just steps away for breakfast. Overall, it's not bad for what it is — a roadside inn. The lady in the reception could not have been nicer and polite!

T
Timothy Lane

Perfectly acceptable travel style hotel. Rooms are a little worn but the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Located within a motorway services so simple food options are right next door. If you need somewhere to stay for a night or two it's just the job. Also all the rooms are dog friendly.

F
Fadzil Abd Aziz

Everything was good. Only that if you're traveling to North, then it's a bit hassel...because the next day when you wanna continue your journey, you need to U-turn for about 10 miles down south. And, not much of a choice for food, but they informed us earlier so we already ate before check in.

R
Rich C

Easy location and parking (free when checked in), helpful receptionist, and straightforward check in - from an online reservation. Happy to accommodate a change of room from ground to first floor. Rooms are a little tired, and clearly the painter was feeling lazy, but otherwise comfortable and clean (overall). Mattress was a bit too squidgy for my liking, so not the best nights sleep, but the room was comfortable, with the usual tea/coffee making facilities. Free WiFi (but not secure). Bathroom was a bit tired, and could have been a bit cleaner round the bath area, plus the shower is fine if you are 5ft, but at 6ft 4in you practically had to kneel down in the bath to get underneath. I've not stayed in a DaysInn for a few years now, and whilst they are reasonably priced, they are a bit tired around the edges, so perhaps some investment in upgraded rooms might not be a bad idea. Overall I would say they are adequate, bit also to be fair, you get what you pay for, and with Premier Inn at nearly twice the price, if all you need is a stop over and a bed for the night then these will do.

A
Armin Grewe

While the decor is a bit dated and worn (in a way expected at a busy motorway hotel) the rooms are perfectly adequate. If you don't mind paying slightly more I would recommend booking a lake view room. They will be quieter (facing away from the motorway or any road for that matter) and you get a decent view when you get up in three morning. Shower had excellent water pressure. Good to find tissues, extra towels and things like that, not all hotels of this type provide that these days. Staff was friendly and helpful.

C
Colin Hoggett

Yes the rooms are tired however at less than half the price of a Premier Inn it is good value for money. It's a shame there isn't anything decent to eat on site but that's not their fault.

M
Mick Byrne

A lovely place to stop over. The view from the service area was really picturesque when the sun was shining. Hotel was pleasant and the service was great. The room amenities were good as well. Extra tea and coffee freely given at reception. I will book again on my next trip to Scotland. Thanks everyone at Killington Lake Kendal. Ps, If I can't get a room next time I will know too many people have read my review.

C
Claire Allen

The location was perfect for us and the view is excellent, the room was a little tired and in need of a re-fresh but the bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again particularly when travelling with a dog, they are really pet friendly.

A
Alberto Corizzo

This is the bed mattress protector. Dirty, with blood from another guest. Disgusting. On the other hand, the location is excellent. See picture from the room. Overall, ok but in need of a massive investment.

S
Sarah Hind

I stay fairly regularly in low cost hotels like Travelodge & normally think they're great for the low cost, but this one really was shabby. The bedsheets were clean and the bed comfy enough, but the bathroom was awful and the general grubbiness of the place was unsettling. I think it had been cleaned, but everything was so marked (such as the wall heater), broken and patched up, it made it look dirty. The McDonalds/Costa wasn't great either. The room cost us £80 and it definitely wasn't worth it. We had stayed at the Travelodge (Northbound M6) on the way up for £40 and it was great. On the upside, the staff were lovely, efficient and helpful and it was quiet in the rooms. Sadly I wouldn't stay there again unless they did a revamp of the rooms.

I used this days inn on the way home from my son's heading North on the M6 This should have been easy taking junction 37 then straight back onto M6 south to the turn off for the Days Inn Killington Lake. This was my error and my sat nav took me up some very dodgy roads to the little village of Killington (approx 3 houses), this I then rectified and ended up at the correct place. The services here sit on the side of Killington Lake and are really pretty esp in nice weather. The hotel check inn was very easy and the reception staff were really lovely. There isn't a restaurant in the hotel but right next door there is a McDonald's, A Costa Coffee and a WHSmith. The hotel offer vouchers which are £7.50 each but allow you a £10 spend in either Mcdonalds or Costa and so I bought 2 which worked well to buy something for an evening meal and also for a warm breakfast before I left. It's actually a really good idea as you are not limited to a specific time for dinner or breakfast and you can then eat in the comfort of your room if you wish, it worked well for me and I would probably book a Days Inn again because of it. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the bedrooms are dated and could do with a refurb, there was a loose panel in the bathroom too but what I will stress is that it was very clean and comfortable and especially for what I paid at the time which was only £39.00. Would I stay again? Yes definitely as it served the purpose for a clean and comfortable stay which was economical and also offered a great alternative for a meal. I have to say a special thanks to the lovely receptionist who was very welcoming and made the check inn process easy and stressfree On a little footnote there is plenty of free parking, you do need to enter your registration details at a touch screen at the reception but it's as simple as that 😊

Stayed here as a stop over on the way to Scotland. Firstly, the staff were by far the best thing about the stay. They are chatty, asked after you and couldn’t do enough for you. Days Inn, whatever you’re paying them, it’s not enough… Unfortunately, this hotel has battle scars from over the years, which isn’t a huge surprise, but considering the price we paid, it fell well below expectations. The whole place needs a revamp, but considering it’s location and part time staffing, that isn’t going to happen. The view is nice, but ultimately forgettable. The lake is fenced meaning you don’t get a closer view which is unfortunate. Overall, quiet and forgettable experience. But the staff were amazing! Thank you for being the best bit about this hotel.

L
Lizzie B

Sadly a 2 star stay, the only reason there are 2 stars is because of the staff and the bed itself really lovely reception staff, very friendly and welcoming and the bed it self was so comfy and really clean! However for £75 it was not worth it, the rooms need some serious tlc, the bathrooms were looking tired but the biggest thing they need to do is invest in some soft closing door systems! I know you can't help the clientel with how loud they talk but when they are back and forth between rooms and the doors bang and actually shake your room right up till 1 am and your supposed to 'not drive while tired' you can't help it!! Also dogs should not be allowed behind the hotel after 11pm, at about 1 am someone had taken there dog round the back by the rooms and it wouldn't stop barking. If they could sort out the door issue first and then just decorate the actual surroundings are beautiful!!

S
Steve Seymour

Room 31, poorly maintained and poorly cleaned, left the sign.out for service not completed. Hotel only accessible from South bound motor way so not ideal for getting in or around from. Very limited facilities on thr setvice station border line basic. Staff nice and make you welcome.

H
HADI ALMUSAWA

**Rating: 1/5** I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. The cleanliness standards were far below expectations. The room was dusty, and the bathroom had visible mold and grime. Also you could find spiders in the room!!! I would not recommend staying here unless they significantly improve their hygiene practices.

B
Britvolante

I assume all the positive reviews had rooms on the top floor because if, like me, you are relegated to the bottom floor down the stairs you get a smelly room that is obviously in need of a deep clean and some maintenance. View s nice and it’ll do for a night to break up a journey, but like many travelodges the lack of investment is glaring.

S
Sean Henderson

Stayed in room 3A as soon as you opened the room you were hit with overwhelming smell of mould/ damp. Rooms very tired and in need of renovation. Bed hard and uncomfortable and we were constantly disturbed by doors slamming throughout the night. Not bad value for money at £45 for the night but I’d feel massively ripped off if I paid any more for it.

T
Tony Pelan

Check in was smooth but from there it went downhill. Mainly because instead of a restaurant you are offered a discount voucher for Costa and MxDonalds. Hardly acceptable at £100 per night. The room, while clean, was obviously overdue refurbishment. Don’t stay here, use the nearest Premier Inn or Travelodge, both of which offer better vfm.

T
Tony Samuel

Very poor quality room, tired, scruffy room and bathroom. Even the sink tap was falling off. Very disappointed. Stayed at Days Inn Stafford the following night, this was so much better

R
Rod Brown

Hotel in handy location for travellers and has potential with views over lake Killington. But this is a 1970s building with 1970s standards of fittings, especially the bathroom. The rooms have thin walls and our stay was disturbed by people in adjacent rooms - who, to be fair, were just talking quietly and watching TV into the night. Furniture is tired and the bed was squidgy. The hotel needs rebuilding to modern standards to make use of the location - then it would be a great stopover venue. It’s functional though. Bring ear plugs.

Extremely Disappointing Experience From start to finish, our stay was marred by poor service, inadequate facilities, and a lack of care for guests. Following GPS directions, we were misled down a single-track lane around a lake, only to be told we had arrived—clearly not the correct location. After rectifying this and identifying the proper services, we eventually reached the hotel at 7:45 pm, with two exhausted children and an additional 35 minutes added to our journey. When I raised the postcode issue, the receptionist laughed it off with, “the joys of living in a rural area.” As someone who also lives rurally, I found this dismissive—especially knowing that many rural sites proactively improve signage and directions to prevent such confusion. Things worsened upon entering our room: the door lock was broken and left hanging, and items from previous guests had not been cleared—even though we had checked in near 8pm. Dust covered the kettle area, cups were unclean, walls were stained, and the bathroom soap holder had hardened toothpaste and residue. A chair was broken, and while the bedding itself was clean, the surrounding furniture was chipped and dirty. We had not expected luxury, but having paid over £110, we were stunned by the lack of basic standards. The room was tired, neglected, and unacceptable for the price and promises made. Not somewhere I would recommend staying to anyone, in particular those travelling with children.

M
Mudassar Nazir

Made a reservation for 5 people only to get a email on the day of arrival to say they couldn’t accommodate. Called up to be told that email could be disregarded and all would be fine. Arrived late night only to be told that indeed they could not accommodate us overnight! This left us with a frantic panic to search for alternative accommodation at midnight on a busy bank holiday weekend. This ruined our whole trip as nothing else was available nearby. I think a better system needs to be implemented to save anyone else having to go through a similar ordeal

V
Vivienne Snee

We paid £99 for the room. The first thing we did was open the window as the room had a terrible damp, musky smell. The room was tired. There was scuffed furniture, rust on the toilet seat, the plughole looked disgusting and the bed was uncomfortable. However this was not the worst part of our stay. There was a notice on the door when we came into reception saying don't open your room window. On arrival we had not seen this and only noticed it when we went to the shops and came back. By that time the room was full of midgies. The hotel staff should have told us this on check-in and not relied on an A4 notice on the door. There was no receptionist to complain to and to ask for another room. There was still no one at reception when we left in the morning at 9am. This was a dreadful experience! Avoid at all costs!

I booked that place for a 2 night stay, haven’t been ill all week I asked to cancel and hope for a part refund as I paid for insurance with the booking company, I’ve lost all my money £100 I’d definitely not recommend this hotel chain, PLEASE THINK TWICE if your thinking of staying I feel like I’ve been robbed

C

Found pills on the floor and the bathroom needed a good clean - the lake is beautiful, but would not recommend staying here.

I have just made a booking and there was a technical error. I’m meant to stay Nov 4th-5th. The booking went through as Dec 4th/5th. Called within 5 min of booking to request cancellation or change of date. Unaccommodating management, take your business elsewhere

C
Catalin Paun

Let's start with the begining on the room 36, once you step inside the room everything you smell is bad odour stinking like someone passed away few hours ago inside, there is no hygiene nothing clean, the bed it had spots and it wasn't clean from a very long time, once you try and sleep you can hear all kind of noises from other rooms in that hotel, on the corridor you can smell the smoke of the weed, first night i went to speak at the reception about the noise, they said, they will try to sort it out but we couldn't sleep all night because of the noise, i paid for two nights £204 but i left in the evening at the second night! I would not recommend to anyone to stay in here!

M
Mihaela Cazanjiu

One of the most dirty ,noisy, smelly hotels I’ve ever been to . The location is really beautiful , the nature but if you want to stay over the night , definitely not in this hotel. Room 36 was horrific, bad odor…. No comment NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!

L
Lenka Špryňarová

I had a call at half 11 today that my booking for today has been cancelled due to a water issue in our room. Since then I received no confirmation and on booking it didn't show anything, now I live 2h away and this was gonna be my boyfriends birthday weekend but it's completely ruined as had to make other arrangements while noone from the hotel would answer the phone to tell me anything. This has been utterly disappointing and awful and it ruined my weekend

m
michelle raisborough

Let's start with a positive! Staff member at check in was very patient while I sorted out issues with payment through corporate booking issues! Nice lady. First room had a lovely view of the lake (as booked and requested) but there was a permanent noise that would likely disturb sleep so we asked to move. Again credit to staff member who obliged but it did mean a downgraded room away from lake view! At least noise is no longer an issue! BUT this hotel in in serious need of a proper renovation! It's got problems everywhere. I've read previous reviews and I suspect a very cheap re-decoration was done a few years ago. It needs another proper renovation. The cleaners need some training as it's not the cleanest but due to room decor and mould you tend to look closer! Will not choose to stay here again despite the lovely view! Would rather somewhere I don't feel the need to wash after staying. Expensive for what it is also.

N
Natalia Romero

Worst experience ever. The rooms didn’t look like the ones available on line. I booked two rooms each one was charged at £126 pounds which was £40 more than when we booked. There were spiders in both rooms. Mine had mold on the ceiling, smelled awful. Do not recommend at all. I thought McDonald’s and Costa were going to be convenient but the food we had in that McDonald’s gave us food poisoning and Costa didn’t had the food we ordered. I would’ve rather drive a bit more. If you can, please do not stay there.

k

Ground floor room. Smelly as you entered. Walls were badly stained.Plaster coming off round the windows.Bath taps and mirror rusty. Bedside tables had been hand painted and the paint was peeling off. The room was clean and bed was comfy enough. Would i stay again. No chance.

C
Carol Fo

Disappointed with this place, cold room.the smell was rank..like a mop had been left ..i stupidly thought our view would be a lake, but No..just cars and big old truck..to top it all we found the bed hard and uncomfortable..as we were in room 3a...the door right outside our room never stopped banging!!! needless to say..we decided to leave and just head back home even tho we were tired..nice bathroom tho!!receptionist could have done with some customer care lessons!!!
