Opinions de Izumi Matcha Cupertino
Finally tried the new matcha drink store. I waited 30 minutes on a Saturday. After placing the order on the kiosk, we received our drinks pretty fast. We had the creme brulee matcha and the Hojicha black sesame substitute whole milk with oat milk and less ice. The creme brulee matcha was very creamy and thick, there's creme bruelee on the top and bottom of the drink with matcha smeared on the sides. It was good and you can taste the high quality matcha but it was also very sweet, it's like an ice cream. The Hojicha black sesame with oat milk was very good, you can taste the tea as well as the black sesame and it wasn't as sweet as the matcha drink. I would come here again to try the other drinks.
High quality Matcha spot, currently my favorite spot for Matcha in the south bay! They make matcha, hojicha, and black sesame drinks and soft serves! My go to is their matcha creme brulee swirl drink. Their creme brulee is a thick custard creme that is not too sweet. It balances well with the matcha base which is also very thick and a bit icy. Overall I think the texture is similar to a smoothie. The matcha flavor is very strong and is just so satisfying to drink with the custard. I also enjoy getting their matcha soft serve as the matcha taste is distinct and the texture of the soft serve is thick and creamy. Price wise, I think everything is pretty reasonable for the quality of matcha they are serving. The matcha creme brulee swirl comes out to about $7.95 and the soft serve is about 5$. The place has about two tables to sit at, but this place is more for take out. The service is kind and efficient. Highly recommend if you are in south bay! Will get myself to try their other drinks one day, but I just love this creme brulee drink so much!
Matcha here is very good, and good quality. It’s subtle bitterness is not overpowering like other matcha I’ve had. But there is no compromise on the matcha flavor. I really enjoyed the black sesame soft serve, though. The matcha ice cream is good. The inside of the store doesn’t have AC, so I always feel bad for the workers. The service is fast and good though and they’ve been out of hojicha ice cream
Service is not good but the matcha definitely makes up for it. You can taste the quality of the matcha in the drinks and was honestly quite surprised. There are long lines so beware but it is worth it! Giving 3 stars for service since after waiting so long in line, the staff allowed everyone in the back form another line skipping tons of people who waited even longer… was really disappointed by this.
Been here so much since they opened. Great choice for matcha in South Bay! Their matcha lattes and soft serve is on point. I request extra matcha in the lattes (no additional charge) with regular sweetness since I love my matcha taste. First time ordering the matcha strawberry latte, and it was very good with the strawberry bits (make sure to stir it before drinking). Around $6 per menu item, comparable to other places.
I love coming here for their matcha soft serve. This place is definitely well loved and can get quite a long line on the weekends, but it is all reasonable. The staff are always nice and quick. You can also buy matcha powder and the tools needed to make matcha at home! Very high quality drinks in my opinion. 💕
Best black sesame soft serve ice cream. Matcha ice cream was also very good with strong matcha flavor but without the bitterness or leafy aftertaste. Matcha lychee had more distinct lychee taste than other places. As of 10/6/23, they have limited menu with soft opening. Will definitely return when they fully open.
Went here around 2 times now, the drinks are consistently good! They hand whisk the drinks and I have yet to find clumps in the matcha. The drinks itself are rich and getting a free shot of extra matcha is available! The icecream was my favorite, as there was no clumps and the flavor was fresh.
Had the matcha soft serve and honey matcha latte. Splendid! It was not overwhelmingly sweet and the matcha taste was really good. The queue to order was never ending but it moves fast. The staffs are friendly and efficient. Love it! There aren’t enough seats in the outlet but folks typically just hang out by the tables and chairs that are available outdoor for general public use.
The honey matcha latte (right side) was absolutely delightful—perfectly balanced with a smooth, earthy matcha flavor and just the right touch of sweetness from the honey. The texture was creamy and velvety, making every sip feel indulgent. I loved how the honey enhanced the matcha without overpowering it. It was refreshing yet comforting, ideal for both a morning pick-me-up or a relaxing afternoon treat. You can definitely add an extra matcha shot for free if you like yours a little strong :) —highly recommended!
Matcha lovers rejoice! For those of you who are obsessed with matcha and looking for something new to try, Izumi Matcha is the newest matcha shop on the block! Izumi Matcha strives to bring the highest quality authentic Japanese matcha to America, providing patrons with not only matcha drinks and desserts for purchase, but also a variety of matcha good available in-store. I would go out on a limb and guess that majority of those visiting Izumi Matcha are wanting to sample their drinks or taiyaki treats, so keep in mind the lines can be quite long. Ordering is all done in-store on a self-serve kiosk and then you wait for your matcha treat to be ready and retrieve it when your number is called. Naturally, the store is busier on the weekend, but I've noticed that the 5-6pm window might be a sweet spot where the line does die down a bit (don't quote me on this as I've only been there twice). Now onto what we tried! We ordered their matcha yuzu tea and the honey hojicha latte. The matcha yuzu pairing was a match made in heaven as the tart yuzu perfectly balances the earthy matcha for a smooth, yet refreshing drink. For those of you who want some extra matcha oomph you can also add a free extra matcha shot to your drinks! The hojicha on the other hand was a delicious not-too-sweet cup of roasted goodness. With the honey and dairy providing a smooth accompaniment for the deep roasted notes of the hojicha. I could go on and on about how good the drinks here, but honestly you should try it for yourself to really understand why so many people are flocking to Izumi Matcha. I only tried the drinks when I've been, but the taiyaki and soft serves are also extremely popular, so those will have to be on my list to try in the future! If you're looking for the next best matcha place to try out in the Bay Area, the I highly recommend giving Izumi Matcha a try (as long as you can bear the long lines and wait, it'll be well worth it)!
My favorite place for matcha! It’s usually really busy but the workers are really efficient and fast; but I always go when I’m not in a rush since wait times can be as long as 30 minutes or more. Would definitely recommend coming when you’re not in a hurry. The crème brûlée matcha and the honey matcha latte are soooo good 🍵 it’s the perfect sweet treat 😌
Love the cheese mousse hojicha tea. Good hojicha flavor and mixing in the mousse adds a little creaminess. I also like their strawberry matcha latte and honey matcha tea, but the caffeine is way too strong for me. The flavor is really strong and good though. Black sesame ice cream is also pretty good.
Nice stop at Izumi Matcha 🍵 We ordered the hot Honey Matcha Latte with oat milk and the hot Honey Hojicha Latte with oat milk. Both were smooth, comforting, and nicely balanced. Even though there was about a 15-minute wait since it was the weekend, it was worth it. Great spot for quality matcha and hojicha, especially if you don’t mind a short wait.
I ordered their Strawberry Yuzu Matcha based off a recommendation from a friend. It's the perfect drink if you like a mix fruity, some tartness, sweetness and a bit earthly flavor. Absolutely delicious! When we got there, there was a line out the door, but it moved relatively quickly and we also got our order very shortly after ordering. There is parking out front, but the lot can get really busy and fill up quickly.
Love Izumi matcha, and my dog approves too! Great quality matcha and many dairy free options. I always go here when I want good quality matcha.
Our First time to visit, Izumi Matcha and it was very good. The line is usually way too long, for us to give it a try, but we got lucky today!!! I recommend the Creme Brule Matcha drink. Very delicious and my favorite.. I tried their soft serve green Tea Matcha and it was very good and tasty.. You definitely have to visit this place. The prices are very reasonable about $6.95 per drink...
A happening place with a good surrounding and sufficient parking space. Noon time too, the place had a big queue and I suppose this is quite normal here. The service was very quick though and 🍵 Matcha was very soothing and pleasant, not because it was in the noon but because it was properly balanced with the right amount of ingredients. Must have when you are in this area 👍
As a lifelong matcha lover, Izumi Matcha absolutely impressed me! You can instantly taste the great quality of their matcha. The flavor is strong and authentic, just like what you’d find in Japan!!
This is the only matcha place I absolutely crave. Their quality is so consistent between visits and well balanced. I definitely try to come here once a month at least
The matcha latte was fantastic! I could taste the matcha flavor and the honey was well mixed in. Best matcha latte place in the area.
One of the Best Matcha Spots Around! I had the best matcha drink here 💚—rich, smooth, and full of flavor. The matcha ice cream was just as impressive, incredibly creamy and delicious. 🤤 The only downside is that the place is always crowded, so expect a bit of a wait. ⏳ But honestly, it’s worth every minute. Definitely recommend for matcha lovers!🥤😋 Crème Brulee matcha swirl: 5/5

I’ve been to Izumi three times and every time I have been shocked by the line. You have to time it right, but if the wait isn’t too long it’s worth it. My favorite drink here is the yuzu matcha tea- very refreshing! The staff are really fast and friendly, so once you’ve ordered there isn’t a long wait. It’s definitely worth it to try at least once!
I like matcha and the wait was worth it for a special treat with friends. Line is long and they had a marker at the end of the line so we had an idea how long the queue would take. Service was quick once you got to the front to order. The workers were understandably busy and super focused on churning out orders so it’s not your typical neighborhood cafe that you’d want to stay and chat with the workers. It’s more of a grab-and-go situation once you get your drink. But you can always sit down outside or just take a walk through Daiso or Tokyo Central!
We came on a Wednesday at 2pm and the line was out the door but not as long as I’ve seen it on weekends. We waited 15-20minutes and got our drinks shortly after we ordered. We ordered a matcha latte and a matcha tea with cheese foam, plus the soft serve. The former had mostly ice as seen on the picture below. The drinks and ice cream were good but I don’t think we will be back as I don’t think they are worth the wait. This said, I appreciate that the pricing wasn’t more than other tea places in the area.
Very busy matcha shop at Cupertino. Everytime when we visit, there's always a line. Usually it will take about about 15 min to 20 min wait time especially on the weekend. They only have cold matcha and ice cream as I am aware of. I always order Yuzu matcha or strawberry matcha. Both are good. Strawberry matcha is famous and always available at many matcha shop. Strawberry match is kind like the standard cold matcha. One thing I just feel it should reduce which I which They can is the sweetness. It is good the bitterness of the matcha is not there.
Izumi Matcha is such a cool spot! The place is super clean and has a calm vibe, perfect for chilling with a great drink. The Japanese decor is awesome with cute Kenosha dolls and Skimsi figurines around, giving the place a unique, cozy feel. Plus, the matcha bowls are seriously beautiful, almost like little pieces of art. You can tell they put a lot of thought into every detail, from the drinks to the décor, making it a must visit for anyone who loves matcha or just wants to relax in a cool, laid back spot. We ordered Strawberry Matcha Latte and Crème Brûlée Matcha Swirl. Both of them were delicious. A must try for matcha lovers!!!
Update after visiting a couple times now. They have a shortage so they'll be closed every Tuesday until further notice. They also have cups with no logo, so they might have a shortage for that as well. Looks to be the same size though(photos from previous visits included for reference) But as for the matcha itself, still as good as always. Love the Swirl Matcha. Highly recommend. Honey Matcha latte and Yuzu Matcha is also great. Solid defaults for those who haven't had or don't usually gravitate towards matcha(like me)!
I think the matcha here is quite delicious with the perfect blend of bitter, earthy, and an overall well-rounded flavor. When I went on a Sunday evening the lines were actually quite short and we were able to order within 10 minutes. This is definitely one of the top tier matcha places in the bay. They also sell matcha powder tins for varied prices, but these usually are sold out. I wish there was more indoor seating.
High quality, strong and rich matcha powder and creative menu selections. 🍵 Can’t see their full menu online or any prices so I attached a photo here in my review. Each matcha drink is around $6.95. I ordered the Iced Honey Matcha Latte 🍯🍵🥛with whole milk and regular sugar which was light and refreshing with a medium matcha richness and had a very light sweetness to it, and my friend ordered the Creme Brûlée Matcha Latte Swirl which was very thick and had a strong matcha richness level to it. I think I would have preferred more sweetness in my drink to counteract the stronger matcha bitter taste. Waited 40-45mins standing in line. Only 1 kiosk to order and 0 seating - you must find seats outside but they’re often fully taken up on the weekends. Clean indoor but no seating. I don’t think it’s worth the long weekend wait times but it’s probably very popular because they specialize in matcha tea and matcha soft serve ice cream, and they have a good menu like lychee matcha, white peach matcha, creme brûlée matcha, red dragon refresher, and hojicha tea (roasted green tea). They have a lot of matcha powder cans and Japanese bowls for sale ($130 for a bowl) inside. Service was fast and nice - I asked if they could do no ice for my Iced Honey Matcha Latte (I wanted a cold drink instead of a hot drink but no ice cubes inside 🧊 ) and they honored the request. Wish they had that as an option when ordering though.

I was visiting the hello kitty store sanrio next to this matcha spot, I figured not a long line, let's go in and check it out. . After a short 10 minute line i have decided to just go with a matcha with cold foam on top. The matcha was really good and earthy and isn't bitter or like have an after taste. I would get the strawberry matcha next time to try it out. . The inside ambiance is minimal with no seating, just a kiosk to line for to order and pay. The drink wait was fast like 5 minute or so. They were busy and they can handle the long crowd. . Overall if I'm in this plan and craving a matcha, I would totally get one. Hope this review helps and thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day.
We’re glad to stop by here to enjoy the drinks and soft serve. They are excellent! 🍓Strawberry Yuzu Matcha drink: 50% ice, less sweet. 🥤Dragon fruit refresher drink, 50% ice and less sweet ~ toddler enjoying. 🍨 Black sesame soft serve ~ toddler loves. I wish the drinks could be served without ice or with a little ice, as they are still too cold to drink during winter. They have one self kiosk, but it’s kind of slow. The front desk staff take orders when they are not busy. The plaza has parking available.

This used to be my favorite drink place but the last few times the strawberry matcha latte doesn’t taste the same and I haven’t liked it as much. Not sure if it’s due to the ice since they now put more ice than they used to(removed 30% option and with 50% they filled 3/4 of cup with ice. I can taste the metallic tap water after the ice melts. Also not sure if they use a different matcha now. My favorite matcha place is now temp and time but Izumi still has the best strawberry puree since it has strawberry chunks in it.
for all the matcha snobs out there this place is good but it’s not worth the wait 😭 The wait is actually ridiculous this used to not be that crowded before it blew up on social media and now even on a weekday at 1:30pm there’s a 30 min wait. forget about coming here on Friday or the weekend I think the matcha and the quality is really good but no way is it worth waiting more than 20 mins for there are just as good places in the bay The owner should definitely have some sort of online ordering system or multiple kiosks so people aren’t forced to wait at the store. the poor employees… there’s only 2 employees constantly making drinks 😭😭😭
Honestly, i’m a bit disappointed. The lines always long so you expect this to be very good matcha. I found the matcha to be average at best. I got the crème brûlée matcha drink and honestly it’s a 3/10. Really lacking flavor and sweetness, very icy and overpriced. I’m so sad because I really wanted to like this place. I haven’t tried their other drinks so there might be some other good drinks to try. I recommend checking out matcha cafe maiko or maruwu seicha.
I ordered a crème brûlée matcha swirl and was surprised to see that it was not made fresh. Instead, the staff took a pre-made matcha from the refrigerator and served it as is. For the price, I expected the drink to be prepared upon order. The lack of freshness was noticeable, and overall it didn’t feel worth the cost. If this is a place that takes matcha seriously, I think more care should be given to how the drinks are prepared.
Absolute garbage, my wife got influenced by TikTok and we went to try it and it was the most disappointing Matcha I’ve ever had. I have had better tea from quicklies. The matcha itself has no flavor, and clearly uses food coloring. The hojicha is super sweet even after requesting less sweet. There is no flavor there also. Please go to any coffee shop for better matcha. Academic coffee is near by and their matcha is phenomenal. I can’t believe I paid $16 for two batch made sweet drinks with no flavor. I am sure it might have been better in the past based on previous reviews. But this was a big miss

The manager asked me why I didn’t buy a pint—because it’s not available on your kiosk! Instead, I had to pay an extra $0.25 for a flimsy plastic cup rather than using the provided paper cups to take my ice cream home. The matcha ice cream was average, the service was terrible, and I waited 30 minutes…
I am a really loyal customer here since 2 years ago, whenever I visit the bay (i was originally from seattle) I will make it a MUST visit to drink izumi creme brulee - even trying to recreate the recipe and even recommending it to all my friends visiting. However, for some reason, the past 2 times I tried the creme brulee drink, it seems as if the recipe has changed the creme brulee drink is not as CHUNKY anymore and its just so soft... and it lost its spark. I loved the drink because of how unique it is - a literal solid matcha! But now, its just like a regular blended frappucino with soft cream, something that i can find in pinkpink/omomo :( This made me really really sad :( I do still want to give you guys another shot... but 2x disappointment has left me scared to try n spend another $9 . I dont usually do reviews but this just made me sooo sad :(
First time coming to the Cupertino location, and was disappointed. Izumi matcha in San Jose has been reliably high-quality with strong matcha flavor. You can tell by the deep green of older review photos how much fresh matcha went into their drinks, and Cupertino's location looked similar on google reviews. Not sure what went wrong at the Cupertino location today; I watched a couple drinks come out before I got mine, all the same way. The honey matcha latte, usually a beautifully deep, rich, green (at the other location), was basically milk with matcha juice today. There's no tea powder settling at the bottom, and it tastes like milk, even though I got an extra shot of matcha which *should have* made it rich and bitter (in a dark chocolate way). But it's bland and sweet. The color is also off - dull and pale. Maybe they forgot to shake up the jug before pouring the shots??? Will try again in a few weeks - the wait time and price is no joke if it's always like this.
My husband and I come here often, but after today, never again. We usually buy drinks, but today was our first day buying matcha powder. We were told the two most affordable matcha powders ($45 and $50) are CASH ONLY. The next higher up, priced at $75 and $150 we could only pay via Venmo. After buying one $75 matcha powder, in order to purchase a second, we were told we HAVE TO LEAVE A 5 STAR YELP REVIEW. Of course, we thought this was strange, so we declined. During the Venmo payment, we clicked "purchase" to let Venmo know that we were buying a product from a business, and not a personal transaction. Izumi Matcha then tried to coerce us into paying the business fee (WHICH THE BUSINESS IS SUPPOSED TO COVER) for the transaction. I wonder how many of these 5 star yelp reviews were forced out of customers.

Used to be addicted to ordering creme brulee here, but the quality has gone downhill in the last few months. I tried both locations several times in the last 2 months, and the quality of the creme brulee has reduced (harder with less flavor), and the overall blend is thinner. Feels like I'm drinking a thin matcha flavor milkshake that's nowhere near as good as it used to be. It's obvious that some cost-cutting on ingredients/blend has taken place recently. Cannot recommend coming here anymore.
have visited the San Jose location and loved the creme brûlée matcha. Was in the area and decided to try this location. placed my order and not even a minute later, my order was called. while fast service is appreciated, the workers handed us pre-made brulee matchas. It is significantly worse quality than if it were made fresh. The matcha is clumpy, full of ice chunks, and the brulee sinks to the bottom. Overall, this was not an enjoyable experience and I don’t understand how management allows this to happen. If you’re gonna charge almost $9 for a drink, make it fresh. It was also a Monday and they had no customers, can’t imagine what a weekend would be like. The workers had about 20 cups on the table with brulee and one of the workers was actively making more (with a drill?) do better
I have no clue what is making them so popular. This is my second time and consistently they have worst service. Anyway, due to me having a bit of cold on a rainy day I went with hot matcha. I had ordered traditional matcha with whole milk with regular sweetness of honey, there was no honey in the matcha which costed me 7.75$! I don’t know what is making them so arrogant to charge this much and not even have smiling faces man. I would rather take a little less quality matcha with better service than this.
