Great food attentive service given how busy they were first time stopping in for me on a road trip

Superior to Long John Silvers. Both the spicy and regular fish fries are great. Hush puppies are delicious. Have yet to get a bad order from here.

The food was really good and they offered more than fries as a side dish: seasoned green beans, broccoli, cole slaw and more. Reasonably priced. And the service was professional, respectful, courteous and happy/smiling.

Went out of my way to get this food. Captain D's was one of my first jobs when I moved to Texas. Moved in to management and stayed with them for several years. Can't believe that Shoney's Corp pulled them out of Texas. They need to bring them back. The food at this one and only location that I know of was outstanding. Price was decent for the amount and quality of the food.

This place might get more of my business. I normally go across the street to get my catfish, but sometimes they are out of stock. So this place makes a good stand by in those moments. Taste good and they got this sweet roll that tastes like a donut! Fries have always been good to me, just make sure they are hot and they'll taste good 👍🏾

This place is GREAT 👍 . The cook they have now really gets a good scald on the fish. The tables are not sticky. For those of us that wash our hands before and after we eat the men's restroom is very very clean.

There lady her name Karina barrios she she amazing wonderfully inspiring beautiful amazing lady she was busy helping the food too the tables. I recently went there for lunch and left my bag with my wallet and other personal items in it. After I called around and searched for it, someone from this restaurant contacted a friend of mine (maybe his number was in my wallet...not sure) to let him know they had my belongings. Nothing was missing and I am so grateful for the kindness of the employee(s) who found it and put it away for me. Oh, their food is awesome too!!!

I door dashed the Deluxe Seafood Platter, added in Funnel Cake Stix. And I have to say, everything was amazing from start to finish. I wont use any competitor names, but it took the formula of a staple back home for these kinds of fish platters... and absolutely took it to the next level. Stuffed crab, awesome, wish there were 3 in the platter instead of 2. Hushpuppies, outstanding. Soft, fluffy, but NOT greasy. Butterfly shrimp, simple yet great taste. Fried fish filets... Incredible! Not oily or greasy, very meaty. You cant go wrong with this platter so I would only imagine everything else is just as top notch! Gave 5 star service because of how quickly my food went from ordered to arrived.

Haven't eaten Captain D's for quite some time. As a matter of fact when my mother was alive was the last time. Hot, fresh and tasted great. Of, course this location is not in Dallas thank God. Waaaayy better than where I live. KUDOS to the location.

I LOVE this place!! The BEST seafood in Dallas County if not Texas! The food is delicious, hot, and crispy. Vegetables and sides are cooked to perfection. And there prices are decent for fish. You can get 10 butterfly shrimp for $3.99 (in 2023). It's worth every penny. Your missing out if you've never tried it.

Came to eat on Good Friday and was VERY IMPRESSED on the service. They stopped by to check on me 3 times! Will be back.

The woman who worked the register yesterday afternoon is absolutely amazing. Friendly. Good service. And she brought our food to our table and even offered to clear after we ate. And the fish? Fried in fresh oil. Wow. It was a really good experience. Plus, $5.99 for two pieces of fish, two hush puppies, and fries? What a great deal!!

I love their fried clam strips. Not sure why they don't seem to offer them in some of their stores. Its hit and miss. They have THE best hushpuppies!!! Wish there were more locations in DFW area.

First, a caution: For a "fast food" restaurant, Captain D's isn't very fast (we waited in line for a good 20 minutes before getting our food). However, that probably means they are making the food fresh when you order it. My wife & I are trying to eat healthy, and having non-fried food options is really important to us. We picked the baked whitefish & shrimp skewers. The food was surprisingly tasty, well seasoned (i.e. not over done) and the price was reasonable for the quantity of the food we received. The biggest surprise was the bread stick - I think it was far tastier than the ones at Olive Garden. The only reason for the 4 stars is the time it took to get the food; maybe I'll look into an online ordering option for next time...?

The food is good always fresh and flavorful, but they are very, very slow. If you're in a hurry, don't stop here. Expect to wait in drive thru at least 20 minutes.

I am a grown up but I still got the kids meal (5.69$ when we where there). It comes with 2 hush puppies, (they're the round kind and where a bit too mushy in the middle for my taste. Still ok), 1 side of your choice (the green beans taste like a grandma cans, with bacon and onions), and a whole filet of fish. I also ordered my favorite, favorite, a bag of Crackling. ❤️❤️ Grownup #2 ordered the chicken finger kids meal. Comes with all the same items but with 2 chicken fingers. He got fries and ended up sad he didn't get GB, too. I was sad they don't give toy 😢 Capt'n D's offered several other sides. The only other one Im familiar with is the corn on the cob. It's definitely my #2. Guy at the window was nice. Good experience over all.

Have been a customer for many years. It is always clean curtious, and consistently good, and a better variety of side to choose from. Love their hush puppies too!

We've been here a couple times and have had pleasant experiences. The staff is always very polite. Food has been very good, no complaints whatsoever. Definitely great on your wallet.

Get food ready more fast if possible

I had a really good meal there. I got the fish and shrimp special. It is only on 2 days. Either Th-F or F-S, I saw it was for the day I was there, and that is all that mattered. The staff was pleasant. The sides were great! The shrimp was awesome. The fish seemed unseasoned, but either malt vinegar or the hot sauce, makes up for it.

All fried items are cooked to order. Fresh and hot! Best Hush Puppies anywhere! Good baked potatoes and sides. I like how when you place an order to go from inside the restaurant,they open the container and verify that you're getting exactly what you ordered before they close it up and bag it. Variety of condiments for to-go orders. Good sweet tea also!

This is my favorite fast food fish restaurant. I really like their tartar sauce and D's dipping sauce. They also offer baked potatoes, which are impossible to find at a fast food location. I also like the batter that they use on the fish. In all, the food is high class fast food at a reasonable price.

We been going here for years, my mommy used to work at the one that was in south Dallas when I was young so of course this is her favorite lil eatery.... we always get the country style fish and I love the spicy flavored....

I have always loved their battered fish, hush puppies, and fries. Still has the same great flavor from when I was younger and the sweet tea to go with it. Being able to self-serve tarter sauce in little cups brings the nostalgia. The place has been around for a long time, so naturally, the atmosphere could use some updating and cleaner bathrooms. Take out is pricey these days, so overall, it gets a 4/5. I am definitely going back.

Update- I went back again and EVERYTHING was terrific, include the hush puppies! It must’ve just been me the last visit. I stand by everything I praised before! A little out of my way, but worth the drive. Always remind nds me of my childhood… it’s awesome that the food is still the same as I remember from all those years ago. Love the fried fish, fried okra is tasty as well… I was not all that keen on the hushpuppies on this visit though, they just seemed very bland. Good value, very quick and of course tasty!

A great place if you're craving that Long John Silver's food but cannot find one nearby.

Grilled salmon is awesome! It's not on the menu and you have to ask for it but it's really good. Served on a bed of rice and then you get to pick two sides. I took away a star only because some of the premium sides cost 0.49 cents extra. But for the price and considering how expensive salmon is I'll definitely be back and will be ordering this again!

After years of not eating at Captain D's the food did not meet my expectations. There was no seasoning and hushpuppies tasted like cornbread for dinner.

I don't know how well this company is doing in general, but I feel like you don't get your money's worth in quantity or quality. The pieces of fish are the smallest within its specialty. The cheap plastic wear and lack of ambiance makes me forget this place. I drive over 10 miles to go to Long John's Silver for the same thing I could get here. Why?

To be honest all the meat products everything looks delicious but the side dishes all the dishes that you get a Grandy's rice beans you don't expect that from a fish place looking for hush puppies coleslaws or french fries Taylor toys onion rings so I didn't order anything because of the fact that's not what I wanted from fish place big 50

The food is really good, however I do feel it is a maybe overpriced. The customer service though is what is not the greatest at least at this location. On one occasion I arrived thirty minutes before closing time and they told me that they already turned the grill off? I don't see how that would be possible if it was still during open hours. On top of that I was waiting in line for about 20min. because they told me to pull up to the window. Another time I had to wait in the front for about ten min. and they still got my sides wrong. Such a frustrating place to go to when I actually feel like eating there and I don't have the best experience.

Almost always a line through the drive through. Wait times can sometimes be astronomical. I've had to drive off from here more then once. Parking can be bad on their busiest days and times, usually on the weekends, mostly Sunday afternoons. Gotta watch some of the workers cause they can screw your order up if they're too busy talking and not paying attention, then they blame it on you. Usually the food is hot and fresh when you get it. Only had hard, burnt, cold fish once.

I did drive through and the person was so co fused about our order. It was a mess and then it took him more than 15 minutes to get everything straightened out but he did it with a smile.

Food not good or fresh at all not coming to this location anymore, first and last time. They have a good presentation but when they serve it it's a totally different picture. The shrimp was like totally dry like if it's been fried over 10 times.

The food was not good. I don't like fish but my bf does so he got fish and I got chicken. The chicken was so dry and overcooked, his food had a hair in it, in the breading! I don't want to ever come back here. The employees however were very nice

I told them I wanted bother chicken and fish family meal add baked potatoes and fries and corn on the cob. They went ahead and gave me a family meal with fish, shrimp, and crab, which is not what ordered. No chicken and not corn on the cob. You cannot just give whatever you want to. Went back in and told them, they acted like I did not order that. Did not find out the mistake until home looking for the items. Tried calling the store, but no answer, the told me when I drove back down there that their phone does not work, would have saved me a trip back.Will go a little farther out of the way next time I want something like that and maybe to Long John Silver's instead.

It's cool sometimes but just now I ordered the 3pc and 2 sides. They charge extra for some sides and that's okay....but it's not okay when they charge you extra for a side and then not even give it to you. Ordered mac and cheese and a side salad and they didn't give me the salad. The mac and cheese was cold and the hushpuppies weren't cooked!

First i went stayed in the drive thru line for over 25 mins and finally got my order. Drove to go pick up my son from work and noticed they forgot my fries on two meals. Went back to pick them up and finally get home and open my fish sandwiches and they look absolutely pathetic. No lettuce and a pinch of tartar sauce. I tried to call them several times but no answer. This is a mess!

VERY bad experience at this location on 4/18/18, the guy at the window never told me they were out of a certain item until I was being handed my food, when I asked for my sweet tea he said 'oh we're out' shouldn't I have been told that so I could ask for something else? before I could ask another question he rudely closed the window after saying 'thank you for coming'. didn't get his name OR my receipt (he looks like Kodak Black) , if I did I would have DEFINITELY called corporate. didn't even look like he was wearing uniform and his pants were sagging! very sloppy!

I just buy the meal of white grilled fish with rice. I told them categorically to add sauce but she didn’t add on top of everything the fish piece was not up to the mark and it was broken and smell is coming out from coleslaw. The lady with earphone who took the order from drive thru she was very rude and her behavior was not appropriate and she didn’t entertain the costumers . Please check your orders before leaving

Drive through cashier was rude snatched money out of my hand ...the food was not fresh, I ordered fish and garlic butter shrimp that was advertised much larger than the popcorn shrimp I received it was covered in garlic grease not buttery at all...my hush puppies were also under cooked ....

Stood in line for 15 minutes trying to get our order together and there was a man in front of us but when they got to us they told us that we could not use our card because that machine was down and that's why I'm so disappointed because I wanted some Captain D's. I had it on my birthday and just wanted I wanted it again. With that being said that's why I'm giving them the low rating because they didn't have their things together you got to be prepared we do not carry cash like that. Plus that they could have mentioned it sooner while we were there instead of taking up our time. I'm a very patient person but that is unfair to tell somebody to hold on when they know that they could have let us go ahead and go. I get it but I don't hold up progress.

Got our order wrong twice, had no tartar sauce and no cocktail sauce, asked person taking our order if they would let us know when the sauces would be ready, never heard a word about it. When we walked out I told them ate the meal dry, didn’t seem to care. We were not the only ones having the same problem, two parties had to get their money back, they are under new management, beware, we won’t be back.

Two skinny little pieces of awful fish, shrimp tasted sweet like it was fried with a dessert. I don't know if I got sick from the crab cakes, the sweet shrimp, or the awful fish, or all of it, but I felt like absolute garbage the next day after eating here. That was first, and probably last, time eating at Captain D's. I try not to be negative all the time and show love when a place is good, but I can't do that here. I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry. I spent $30 to get sick 🤢

As I drove through the "drive thru" to the window of Captain D's, I was dryly greeted and told how much my order was to be. 7 minutes and 23 seconds later I was finally given my order. After reviewing my order, I realize I was paying way more then I should have received. Therefore, the service was slow and the hospitality was not given, as well as, paying way to much for a small quantity of something when I probably could have received a better deal at Red Lobster.

We waied.almost 30 min in line and then the order was wrong. I tried calling them to let them know I would come back but it would be later, but no one answers the phone. Only go here if you have alot of time on your hands and you like everything on the menu because no matter what you order the will give you what they want you to have

I asked for the 2 piece fish meal one country 1 batter with a bake potato a stuffed crab also. Let's start no cracklings ,the fish look like they were broke in half they were really small and sad looking drenched in grease. The crab wasn't even full. It was half stuffed. The hush puppies were half cook. This service was horrible. The cook need retraining. I'm paying my money I want and expect my good to look presentable. Not something you give to someone to get them out drive through get home it's a horrible meal that I would not serve my family.. the captain D's in balch spring and garland exceed customer service this one is trashy then the young cashier's get smart with you I will not come to this one again

The service was fine. Establishment was clean. However the food was horrible. Taste like it was cooked in old grease. I threw it away because I was afraid my family would get sick.

I usually have no problem when I go here to eat in person but almost every single time I order through DoorDash or Uber eats they get your order completely wrong. Why not just a little wrong but completely wrong. If they get it at all. Right now, I’ve been waiting over an hour for my food and they hadn’t even been finished being prepared according to DoorDash. I’ve had three drivers canceled because they’ve been waiting too long. Over an hour for a seafood platter is ridiculous. And I’m not sure if I will even get it. I’m still waiting going over an hour and the driver hadn’t picked it up yet because it’s not ready. I’m sure when I get it it will be incorrect anyway.

I was at your restaurant and was unhappy with your fish because it looked like chicken. We told lady she told me that they have different fish now. I had ate one peace of fish and a bite off one and I had spitting the other one in half. So I asked for a refund for the dinner and I would pay for the one I had ate and the drink. She told me no because I had ate two.. I asked to speak with the manager and she told me she was the manager. She was very rude and started to auger and speaking down to me. I told her it was okay because I didn't have time and asked for the DM number then went to get a and with the number and started her manager told her to refund me. So she did refund after I pulled out my phone and started to type this feedback.
