Great food, great location. Our party of 4 sat on the patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Sailboat, good friends, and good food! Can't beat it!
We stayed the night in Dana Point and heard good things about Olamendi's. It did not disappoint! The food was great and so was the service. Thank you for a great dinner
We walked to Olamendi’s last night from our Hilton hotel on Hwy 1 and enjoyed a nice dinner! Margaritas, carnitas and fajitas. It’s was good! We ended up going again tonight and had camarones and hubby had a birria burrito. He said he liked his. Mine had a LOT of flavor and a little spice too- it was very good! The guacamole and salsa were excellent 🥑 🎉
If you are craving Mexican cuisine, you definitely should try Olamendi's Inc. This is the best Mexican food I have had lately and is very authentic. It is about 1.6 miles away from Dana Point Harbor. We come to Dana Point to visit my sister-in-law sometimes. She recommended this amazing Mexican restaurant. Everything we had was delicious. I particularly liked the shrimp enchilada the best. We tried their super sweet flan dessert as well. It is an egg custard with caramel sauce. It is pretty similar to cream brûlée. My husband is a die-hard fan of cream brûlée so he was very delighted with it. Overall, there is great food with excellent service at a very reasonable price. The ambience is very Mexican and has traditional Mexican themes. For your information, the complimentary chip dipping sauce is very spicy so be careful. Especially for someone with a low spice tolerance.
We had an amazing experience at Olamendi’s! I ordered the Camarones el Diabla and, of course, a margarita, and everything was fantastic. The shrimp had the perfect balance of heat and flavor—spicy, rich, and absolutely delicious. The margarita was refreshing, smooth, and the perfect complement to the meal. The atmosphere was lively, and the service was warm and welcoming. It’s also within walking distance of Doheny Campground, which makes it super convenient. My husband and I always eat at Olamendi’s when we are camping at Doheny, and it never disappoints.
HOT food, so good!! I ordered the taquito combination plate with rice and beans. It came out on a hot plate, everything looked amazing. The beans had broiled cheese on top, oh so hot and delicious. Their rice was fluffy and delicious as well. Hubby had a carnitas burrito, it was stuffed with meat! Great prices, great food, lots of stuff to look at and great service! We'll be back.
Loved the food! Thank you to George for the fantastic nachos and to Victor our server and Angel our busser, friendly and checked on us every few minutes with a smile! Very accommodating and fabulous atmosphere! We are from Az. and a gal we met in Huntington Beach told us to try it! She was right best Mexican food ever!
Loved the servers, the drinks were strong but not to much. The food came out hot and was delicious. Also loved the decorations. Came for our honeymoon. Had the pork tamales/ beef enchiladas with beans and rice. My husband had fish taco/fish enchiladas with beans and rice. I also had 2 shots, strawberry margarita and orange margarita. Plenty of food. Will definitely be back. Thank you. All of you were great.
The hand crafted guacamole was creamy, chunky, citrusy, and fresh as the Pacific breeze coming in off your view of the ocean from your table. The beef tacos? Holy moly! these things were tender, juicy, and bursting with slow cooked love, and the crunch of the perfect golden shell? A spiritual experience. They also have a spicy hot salsa you can special request - Woo! That bad boy doesn’t mess around. It hits with a fireball of flavor that dances on your tongue and keeps you coming back for more. And to wash it all down? A classic margarita that was smooth, perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and with just the right kick of tequila to rev your engine. Olamendi’s is the real deal. It’s got the vibes, ocean air, and plates that speak fluent flavor. If you’re cruising the coast and craving something unforgettable, punch Dana Point into your GPS.
We stopped by after dinner for margarita drinks and a Flan dessert. I tried the house jumbo and my wife the jumbo mescal. It was busy but the service was great. Enjoyed the art and nostalgia decorating. We loved the scratch margaritas especially the smoky finish on the mescal. The Flan was the perfect not so sweet dessert.
This was a great place. We have driven by a lot over the years and finally decided to try it out. Why has it taken us so long this place was great!! The staff made us feel like family. The food, made on-site, was delicious. My girls had fun looking at all the different decor, and one even said if she had had the money, she would buy some of the artwork they had there. It was beautiful.
The crew from Sandboard.com visits Olamendi's every time we come to Capistrano Beach! It's just an amazing place with LOTS of history AND great tequila! Try the 4 shot sampler of there best tequila and mezcal! We had brunch this visit with machaca con huevos and chilaquiles as well as the camerones cocktail. Yum and more Yum. Our server was absolutely excellent. He was quick and thorough a very friendly. We also met the owner who is still serving all these years. You have to check this place out if you're in the area. For those of you who have visited here already... well... you already know!!
They've been rocking Mexican food my whole life! They've got great vegan options which allows carnivorous and vegan folk to put down their differences and have a tasty meal together! WOO the heck HOO! BTW, the vegan chips are way better than their regular chips IMO! They toast the cheese on top of their burritos and enchiladas that look so dang good. Views and sunsets are awesome and if you need something to do, look up and around.... there is a colorful collection of decorations and pics on the walls and ceiling that should be in the magazine "how to decorate for the busy mind" . Love you Olamendi's!

Great ambiance. Love the pics on the wall and the location. Always get the same thing when I'm there. And always have a jarritos lime with it. One of my favorite places in Dana point.

We had a lovely meal at this fun little restaurant, right across the street from a sunset on the Pacific Ocean. Good food and service. Great drinks. And a colorful and quirky interior decor.

For stating the the restaurant is world famous, is a bold statement. The food is tasty, though I've been to little hole in the wall places that had more flavor and authenticity. Service was okay, the most disappointing of our experience is that we had reserved the room in the back for our party of 11 a year in advance and then we were told when we arrived that they don't use the back room anymore even though it was set up. I do have to say that the decor is very interesting and pretty clean from collecting dust.
The food definitely took backseat to the staff. I hardly went a moment without a drink or being checked on. Beyond friendly and very welcoming. The food on the other was, well just basic. Not much to complain or rave about. I will definitely return.
Food and ambiance are excellent! They have amazing mole options. But, over the years the prices have skyrocketed and charging an extra $3 to add rice and beans to a Mexican plate should be criminal. It's also gotten more touristy. Knocking off one star. But the service us still great, and the food very good so.... i guess maybe we just come less often?
I’m a fan of Olamendi’s. The staff was nice and attentive and the drinks and food was good. What more can you ask for? We got the ceviche and the tostadas. They were wonderful! The tortilla soup was probably the weakest thing I ordered. Didn’t really like that too much but everything else was wonderful!

Even though they have an outside patio on asphalt and are right across from the beach, they do not allow dogs on the patio. Big bummer in our dog friendly community. :(

Very good food and drinks. We were able to eat outside and received fast service. Huge portions of food
Service was great, location is great, inside seating is nice. Food? Meh! Not sure what the hype is. Our fajita burrito with fish was not good. Complimentary Chips and salsa are great in general but salsa here was not appealing super spicy. Flan was one of the best i have ever tasted probably will not dine again.
I've eaten at OLEMENDIS for over 28 years never was treated like a second class citizen!! I ordered a chicken enchilada that was ok. Ordered a STEAK BOWL that's been the name forever! But this lady says it's called CANASTITA. I said but it comes with rice beans she said yes everything so I placed and order. I leave. And find out I received this! As you can see in this picture, the rice is missing so I paid for lettuce cheese steak and beans! No rice. I call her back and she insists that the bowl has rice!! And on top of it that it was colder than my dogs NOSE! Please someone see if you can find the rice cause I don't see it!!!

I dined at Olamendi’s Mexican Cantina in Dana Point, California, and it’s hands down the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. I’ve enjoyed better south of the border flavors in South Africa! The “Mexican fondue” was just melted cheese microwaved on a plate. The highlight? A big glass of refreshing water and my som said the Dr Pepper in a can was good. When my margarita came in a plastic glass, i should have known this was going Down hill. We got up and walked away didn’t even Order dinner because we were so scared of what was gonna come. Was seriously, I mean
