Great food and wonderful service! My wife and I got the veggie omelets and were not disappointed! The food wasn't greasy or too salty. Huge shout out to the wait staff, our server was prompt and polite!

In Del Rio for a brief stay. This was my very first time visiting. I ordered the chicken steak with gravy, 2 eggs & hashbrowns for breakfast—I ordered the 10oz portion. I was super shocked by the size of my steak & the amount of food on my plate! The steak seemed a lot bigger than only 10oz. It was definitely a lot more food than what I needed but it was really good! I was so full, I don't think I ate anything else until waaaaay later in the day. The service was also good.

Hands down one of the best breakfast place I’ve eaten at. The crew and I visit at least 3 times a week and they never disappoint. Great service, delicious food!

We just came from birthday breakfast at Skillet’s, and we loved it! The place is warm and open, with both booths and square tables. We chose a booth and were instantly served by our terrific server Angela. We ordered coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and a short stack of pancakes. I’d mentioned the birthday to Angi, and she and several others surprised us by bringing the pancakes out with a little candle, singing Happy Birthday! So sweet! The sandwiches (we had ours on bagels with bacon, scrambled eggs, and cheese), served with hot, crunchy home fries, were delicious, as were the tender, moist pancakes. Angela checked in several times with coffee refills and check-ins to be sure all was well. There is everything to like about Skillet’s and nothing we could find not to like. If we lived here, we’d be regular customers. Big thank you for making this special!

We're just passing through and was looking for somewhere good to eat so we decided to try this place. Everything was good. We went after 3pm and they still offered breakfast. I had the chili cheese fries omelet. It was very good the only thing I would change is add MORE chili 😋 there wasn't any inside only on the top so I asked for extra chili on the side. My hubby had the Pico de gallo burger and his was really good too only thing is that nothing comes on it but the Pico. He added the lettuce, tomato, and purple onions. They have daily specials as well.

Super cool, classic setting for breakfast. Been on the border 2 years, 5 major cities… this takes the cake for best breakfast hands down. From being greeted on arrival , to finishing and paying the bill. Super solid and quality food and drink. Cannot complain about a single thing. Highly recommend to get full and be happy 🤙

Passing thru, as I was here two years ago. I had just as good an experience this time. Britney was my waitress, wonderful at both her work and her interactions with customers. Everyone I saw her talking to, had smiles on their face, as did she. That is nice to see. My food was good. Had breakfast, the whole hog omelet. Really filling. Will enjoy returning here one day. Stopped in on a road trip with my son, early Saturday morning. Server was super friendly and the dining area was very well kept. Coffee was fresh and the perfect mix of smooth yet stout. I ordered the egg white omelette and a regular bowl of menudo. The food came out quickly and as you can see from the pictures, it's flavor profiles were as awesome as the pictures. The menudo tasted more like red pozole but it was very meaty and still delicious. My son was happy, as was I on this choice.

Our first visit from Boston to visit with our USAF daughter and WOW was she right!!! Skillet’s is a fantastic breakfast food lovers place to eat! We will be back 😋😋. Plexiglass is up in between booths so safe zones to eat. Our waitress was great.

This is your basic diner. The only reason they are not a 5 is there are times when their cleanliness leaves a bit to be desired but the food and service is always solid. The crack staff ensures your coffee will never run dry.

We were on vacation in Del Rio and stayed right next door to Skillets. Had breakfast take out both days. Food was good, reasonably priced and quick. Breakfast tacos earned the 4 stars.

Good food. Good prices. Busy but the staff was working hard as they were stretched thin. Large pancakes. Large menu. Very relaxed atmosphere. Slightly less fancy than Ihop. Would recommend to others.

This is 2nd time I've been here. All day menu is a huge plus to those that don't always love breakfast. Unfortunately this time *opposed to 2 yrs ago* they seemed a little short staffed, so waitresses were a little spread out and hard to find at times. I got chicken strips and husband got an omlete. He said the whole hog omlete was good, but his hashbrowns tasted like they had been sitting on the plate for awhile before the omlete. Had to ask anyone passing for refills on drinks multiple times. Will probably still go back when in the Del Rio area, hopefully they can work the staffing out before then.

Awesome makeover, New food plus the good old favorite ones. Needs a better kids menu while their new menu looks great. Customer service depends on whos your waiter like everywhere else but they are very friendly and accommodating. Still a local favorite .

Service wasn't the best, probably because it was really busy. But the food was outstanding. I had a Patty Melt and Fries. Hot, fresh, perfectly cooked. Everyone else had pancakes and eggs. We all cleaned our plates.

There's lots of different types of good food to eat and try. If you get the buffet it's all you can eat. There are healthy options, like salads and fish. You can order a steak and eat a variety of different desserts too. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean inside.

Good food and good service. I had biscuits and gravy. My step daughter had a baked potato and my wife the chicken fried steak. We got there around 8:30 Sunday morning and the place wasn’t too busy. By the time we finished the place was packed. The locals must like it so you know it’s good. Good food and service. We will be back.

We used to love coming here because they had great pancakes. But lately, not so much. The rest of our breakfast was well done. I've not once ever had burnt or over cooked eggs. Their French fries are super tasty. I tried one, and then couldn't wait to go back to get my own order of fries.

Food is standard diner fare but they do have a pretty good carne guisado taco.

Was pretty busy when I went. Love the line sign in. Food was pretty good. Our order was missing something but this was likely our fault for leaving so quick. They were very accomodating when we came back to get it. Overall good experience.

They served a variety of foods all day long which was a plus for us as I wanted breakfast and my friend wanted dinner. We were there around 11 am. I had a good meal. Servings were average size, prices were just fair, but for breakfast it was a little on the expensive side for 1 egg, 1 slice of bacon, and 1 Pancake it was $8, but my friend had a chicken friend steak dinner for $11 and it was a good size meal. The waitress was very nice and always checking on us. Nothing write home about with the breakfast, as it's hard to go wrong on my meal, but my friend did like her meal.

A great Denny's-like alternative with a reduced menu. Noise is an issue when the place is bustling.

My very first job when I was 17 was bussing tables and washing dishes here. Of course in those days it was still called The Kettle. The place is generally clean enough, and the staff is friendly. I have never really had a problem with the food, although I wouldn't recommend the T-Bone. The breakfast tacos are my favorite.

Food was below par. Eggs were cold, sausage was very dry, and muffins were extremely tiny.

They have good food. The biggest disappointment I've encountered is that they offer a 50% discount to law enforcement and boarder patrol, but not the military. It's a shame that those who enforce the peace throughout the world are not seen as equal as those who enforce the peace locally.

Enjoy having coffee & or eating. Menu items are okay. Waitresses are nice. Management could be more respectful to employees & customers. Place has been in business for many years. But the interior needs remodeling along time ago.

I ordered a club sandwich and I won't order another if I go back. The bread was half toasted and all of it was dry and bacon and turkey were cold. I didn't check with the other 8 in the party about their experience. I understand it is under new ownership and/or management. They need to boost their quality. Service was slow.

It was pretty good. Our waitress took our drink order than checked out so another waitress took over and things went more smooth after that. The women's bathroom needs a big remodel and cleaned.

We went passing through, only thing open later than other places. We showed up about 10:15pm lots of dirty tables, the server was nice once we started talking but he didn't offer drinks we just had to tell him what we wanted. Then he stood at the table waiting for us to tell him our order with no type of "are we ready" or "all set" idk something to that nature i then said oh I didn't hear you say anything to me lol was just a weird experience. Then a few more tables came in and he told them they closed at 11 and to be ready to order also turned down 2 big tops. I did leave because I understand wanting to go close to closing time but it was all just handled poorly, IMO But the food was decent.

Normally the food is ok. Service has always been hit an miss. I don't think much is made from scratch but on this day we had a pleasant server but she didn't come by to check on anything. We waited about an hour or so, were about to leave because it took so long. We ended up leaving as the food was coming out and just left. We offered to pay for our drinks but chose not to stay. The restaurant was not really busy and we felt the server should have at least came to tell us anything about our food. I'm pretty understanding and I don't know if it was a server fail or kitchen but it will definitely be some time before I try to eat there again.

Very disappointed in the portion sizing. I have frequented this establishment since moving here and today I received the safest excuse for a meal that I've ever had. The price for the item has risen considerably AND the portion size seems to be roughly half of what I have received in the past. This came to huge shock to me as I have ordered this particular meal numerous times. Sadly I will not be issuing this establishment for this particular meal any longer.

I tried another locally owned restaurant for breakfast. Skillets is a clean diner in Del Rio. The outside of the building was clean and parking was plenty. Inside was nice and comfortable. I was greeted and seated quickly. I ordered orange juice and it was cold and good. I ordered two eggs medium, bacon, and hash browns. I also added a Belgian Waffle. Everything was good but the eggs weren’t medium but still tasted good. The hash browns weren’t seasoned and cooked as long as I was hoping. The bacon and waffle were very good. I couldn’t even eat it all. It was huge! The staff was friendly and fast. Overall I enjoyed my meal and will be back.

When we first went this, we loved this place as the small little diner, but past few times the service and food started lacking. We found egg shell in our food, our foods would come out really late. We ended up finding a place that we go often now.

Food is good however I guess if you don't know the wait staff you get waited on when they feel like it. We came in ahead of other couples and waited on last. So when you servers dont get good tips and wonder why. Here is your sign.

Chicken fried steak was great. The was a little behind. But expected when it's packed. Had to wait 35 min to get my coffee. I had to go up and tell some else if I could get my coffee.

Came on a Saturday for brunch-food was cold and silverware was dirty, also found something floating in my coffee. I ordered my eggs over medium and they were way over easy, the bacon and sausage had a weird taste. Probably won’t be going back.

Just finished a forgettable breakfast at Skillets. Every time we drive by it was busy so we figured it was probably good....not so much. Food came out cold. Over medium eggs looked like snot. Waffle was soggy from sitting under a heat lamp and the bacon / sausage was cold. We did politely tell our server who said we should have told her and she would have microwaved it....um, no, how about we cook it right and deliver it fresh? I didn't pursue it further, as the server was actually the bright spot of the experience, she did however give us the impression that "this is just the way it is". Definitely not interested in going back. There are other MUCH better choices for breakfast right down the street.

It is decidedly average. Maybe a little below that. Ok definitely below that, depending on what you get. I Stayed in the hotel next door for a couple days and this place was convenient and inexpensive, and I'm sometimes too optimistic, so I went there a few times. The actual waitresses are really nice. They do good work. The other lady that sometimes carries orders out, but isn't actually a waitress, is off-putting. She seems annoyed, just in general. Breakfast burrito is dry, not good. They don't give you any salsa or sour cream with it. The best you got to get this honker to slide down your gullet is the oil from the cheap cheddar cheese that separated a bit as it melted. The hash browns in it taste like they were cooked a few hours ago and nuked. The eggs taste like everything on the flat top kind of mixed together. I think there was sausage or something in there too, but I honestly couldn't make it out. It was kind of like they scraped up the stuff on the side of the grill and rolled it up in a burrito with some soggy hash browns and called it a day. The chicken fajita was not as bad as the breakfast burrito, but not as good as it should be for a border town. The chicken was, you guessed it, dry, but even worse it was bland and actually pale. I think one piece of green pepper had a little bit of char on it, the rest of the veggies looked like it was cooked with a hot shower. The refried beans were apparently only fried once, something just not right there. They were also weirdly pale and runny, and pretty flavorless. Maybe the Lid popped off during that hot shower? Anyway, the pico was good though. Asked for corn tortillas, got flour. I'm getting used to the disappointment. I swear the chicken tortilla soup came from a can. If that isn't progresso soup I'll eat another helping of those runny beans. The club sandwich was actually quite good! The mac and cheese was also pretty good. I wish they'd stop with the cheap cheddar and start using some creamier cheeses in there, but hey, it's a choice. It's fine, especially if you like cheddar. I don't usually complain about this, but when their air conditioning kicks on the giant vents above the kitchen blow straight to the front, blasting you with icy wind if you sit along the front windows, so avoid doing that. Please, it's not pleasant. In the end, just skip it. Los Betos across the street is FAR superior in every way.

The waiter brought us the wrong change after we paid for our meal 🥘, refuse to give the receipt 🧾 only to find out she shortage my change. Food 🍱 was good 😊 timing was good just didn’t like the sneaky 😏 behavior. Recommend if you don’t want problems give exact change , for meal 🍽️

It has been a while since I ate here and will probably be a long while before I eat here again. Ordered the chicken fried steak thinking it was the 1 I had ordered before but was seriously wrong. The CFS was 2 frozen patties that you get in bulk from the supermarket buget family packs and at 10.00 for the meal you would expect better. Toast was soaked in butter, would have been fine but it was toast that wasn't even warm so the butter was as if you just got it from the fridge. our waitress was the worst, I understand that you don't get paid much but don't take it out on us . Not once did our drinks get refilled.we also were not given extra napkins. We even had to find our own ketchup. I'm done with this restaurant , never again.

Came here at 1 :30 in the afternoon hoping to get some nice pancakes after I, my dad and brother just got back from camping. Instead we were met with broken seats, burnt food, cold food, and okay service. Would not recommend.

Omg we stopped on our way out of town. Probably the worst customer service ive had in awhile. When we arrived their were quite a few people waiting to pay at register and we made eye contact with the cashier she just looked at us and kept on doing her thing. After checking out 2 parties she makes eye contact and says itll be a minute ...no problem. All the while employees are standing behing the counter chatting. When cashier was finished doing her thing she looked at us and said we could sit there and pointed at a table we were standing next to.. my husband with our 2 infants had been standing in the entryway for 10 minutes just to have her say sit there. Fine. After another 15 minutes someone came by and said have we decided what we want. No menus or anything. When she gave us our menues i didnt let her run away we placed our orders before she could disappear on us. Glad we did we got our drinks and food all together after 20 or so minutes.... the high chairs they had were all sticky when i tried asking for a rag to clean it myself i gave up on seeing an emoloyee after 5 minutes of standing at the register. Next time well be going to ihop. 👎👎

The new management did a great job of renovating the place. Had breakfast there on opening day and enjoyed the visit. The place was clean and pleasant. However my visit today was not so pleasant. From my table I could see under the back counter where the coffee station is and saw a lot of trash and dust. I have visions of the old dump skiletts used to be. At this rate I give it six months.

The last few times I have taken my family here the service has been terrible, food has been cold, and the food has not been great at all. Highly recommend not EVER eating here, save your money.

We have been coming here for the past 2 week's. We are working in the area. But be careful with the pancakes I found a piece of medal shavings in my pancake. I was very nice and polite about it, i could have complain to the manager but I didn't. The waitress was a little aggressive when I told her my partner did not want to eat his pancakes. She said I still have to charge his plate ok well at least take the pancakes off but she didn't. The waitress could have been a little nicer about things. I wasn't expecting a free meal just deduct the pancakes. She told my partner that they will charge her for his plate if she takes the pancakes off the bill and that the owner will deduct it from her paycheck. I was like wow that's ridiculous. Staff seems nice. Service a little slow. Food was poor. Frozen patties I guess that's to be expected for the price, unhealthy looking French toast. Building needs a complete remodel smells musky and feels humid perfect conditions mold.

It's a nice place, too bad we got the worst waitress in town. She was rude and gave us a face when we asked for silverware to stir our coffee. We asked for extra sugar and she threw it on the table and walked away. Eggs were like a hard boiled egg and we asked for them over medium.

This was my first visit at restaurant. I noticed our waitress and other staff members opening the lid of a RED trash can with their hand and NOT washing hands after touching. My coffee cup was dirty and knife.

I'd give this restaurant less of a rating if I could. I'm sorry to say this place is one of the worst places I've eaten at in a long time. The carpet in this place looks like it's never been cleaned, the waitresses just don't get it, and the food is hardly edible. I waited for over an hour to get my food and there was only 3 or 4 tables in use! Pass this place up even if it's the only place open. I'm not kidding. This used to be a go to years ago but it's only gone down hill.

Imagine my shock when I learned that Skillets was recently remodeled. The place is so dirty, my shoes always sticks to the floor like it’s a nightclub, and the restroom is nasty. The food isn’t bad, but I am so grossed out that they never clean the floor, so I don’t even want to see the kitchen 😭

Went here for breakfast and it was awful how can anyone screw up bacon and eggs my wife ordered the chicken fried steak dripping with grease super chewy they even managed to screw up the gravy. STAY AWAY TILL THEY ACTUALLY GIVE A DAMM ABOUT THERE FOOD.

The restaurant was clean and the coffee was good. However I didn't think anyone could make breakfast this bad! The eggs that I ordered, over easy, were over hard and cold , as if they were cooked a few hours earlier . The Hash browns were oily and soggy, Looked as if they tried to refry yesterdays Hash browns. The same went for the bacon.when holding the bacon up it sagged in the middle . I opted for toast instead of pancakes and got cold buttered bread , so cold the butter didn't even melt. When the manager came out I showed her the meal and all she had to say was "oh well have a nice day sir" as they handed me a bill.

Horrible service. Family and I waited to be seated. So we sat ourselves. Still no one tended to us. Mother gets up and tries to get the attention of the waitress and completely ignores my mom. Finally she noticed, we wait 15 more minutes still no one came to us, no drinks or menus. For one, they definitely were not busy, and two they had so many dirty tables no one has cleaned yet. Not a place I'll ever go too. Service pretty much sucked.

Ordered food hoping to have a good meal after a long trip. Passing through and stopped by for some takeout. I Ordered sweet tea and got unsweetened instead. The receipt does mention sweet tea by the way. I was ok with that since I like both. If the sweet potato portion is this small then why would it be served in a large box? Lol. The grilled chicken has literally no seasonings whatsoever. Plus the corn and potato was overcooked. This is worse than jail food. Hardly edible. Waste of money and food.
