Wright's Steak House

Wright's is home to many fond memories for me, I used to share birthday dinners with Mrs. Wright every year, and I proposed to my wife there many years ago. The atmosphere has changed a little, but the food is still great and the service was as well!

We arrived at 5:20 but doors were locked. I called to make sure they were open and was told yes. A few minutes later someone uniocked the doors. I ordered a baked potato with my entree but was told they weren't teady yet; how can you not have a staple at a steakhouse like a baked potato not ready when you open...and open 25 minutes late at that! Food was good and so was service.

Outstanding food. Below average service as waiter never offered one refill the entire meal. Steak was cooked to perfection. They have a small salad bar. Grilled shrimp were of high quality. Exposed plumbing and electrical pannel without a cover in the bathroom detracted from the experience. The high price coupled with poor service means that there are other better options for steak Del Rio.

For a steakhouse in Del Rio, it’s not awful, but the biggest disappointment is that most of the things they do poorly are easily fixed. My overall impression of this restaurant is lazy or inexperienced management. The 16oz Ribeye was cooked properly, but not seasoned well. Sadly, it was really only missing salt and pepper; but I should NEVER have to season a $28 steak. I have paid less for the same at steakhouses with white tablecloths, extensive wine lists, and experienced waiters. My husband and brother-in-law, who are not picky eaters, also commented that their food was very bland (chicken fried steak and fried cod). The only sides available for the steak are fries, sweet potato, baked sweet potato, or mashed potatoes FROM A BOX. Are you kidding me?!!! I expect that alongside a $10 steak. No vegetables, broccoli, asparagus..? The decor in the restaurant is very confusing. The hostess stand is lovely and upscale, but when you walk into the dining room you feel like you’re in a buffet. The bar is lovely, but the tables have plastic tablecloths and cheap sugar caddies as the only decoration. A real tablecloth, a small vase with a flower, and a candle would make the dining room look so much better. Our table was a card table. $28 for a steak with mashed potatoes from a box, no seasoning, on a card table in a plain dining room? At least their bartender knows what she’s doing—the drinks were excellent.

Meh. The atmosphere and look of the place is nice but I’m not sure if I just picked the wrong food choice or what, but I didn’t enjoy it that much. I got catfish and sweet potatoes fries and onion rings as the app. The fish was bland, onion rings was bland, and the fries was just alright. There was a gnat on my fries and I was just turned off after that. The salad was the best thing I had. And my beer. My husband had steak and fries and loved it. Idk...I wouldn’t go back. If I do, maybe I’ll get the steak and have a better experience.

KDLK advertisers this steakhouses being wonderful. Went there for the first time tonight and was very dissatisfied. I had steak and shrimp, the shrimp was good the steak was cooked perfectly but I couldn't eat it because it was so tough. Bad cut of meat and will never eat there again.

The warm part of the salad bar, where the beans,soup,etc are, was not up to a food safe temperature. Beans and soup were still cold upon our arrival around 520. On the cold side, the potato salad tasted sour and there was hair in the carrots. Informed the hostess due to our waitress disappearing after bring us our drinks. Men's bathroom was clean but as far as I could tell, no hot water. I left the tap on for about 3 minutes. After about 1/2 hour the hostess came over to ask us if everything was ok and was going to check on our food, a porterhouse steak and a hamburger. After another 5 min, our waitress appeared to ask us what if it was a hamburger or cheeseburger and what my wife had for sides. We repeated our order. As we waited, we saw a lady emerge from the kitchen with a pot in her hand. She proceeded to add the new food to the old by stirring it in the containers already in the hot side of the salad bar. The hamburger was ok. Meat tasted slightly old. The fries on both plates were not fully cooked, cold and soggy. Wife's steak was decent and was cooked properly to her request. As I sat waiting for my wife to finish, we asked for the ticket. The waitress hands the ticket to my wife and then picks up my plate with her hand in my food area. She asked if I was done, already starting to walk away.

So bad. Ordered the mashed potatoes they were instant you could so tell. My husband ordered a coke but they had it in cans $5 for 2 cans! I think thats ridiculous. The only thing good was the chicken fried chicken.

I have zero clue how it has such a high rating. We have been here twice in 5 years. The first time was so awful we didn't go back again until tonight after we were told management had changed. Salad bar is tiny, and tolerable, bread tasted like plastic, both our steaks came out raw and even after sending it back once it was still barely able to be considered rare (when I asked for medium), and my husband's steak was flavorless. Even the water tasted off. "All the fixings" was the answer I got when I asked what the baked potato came with, it was packets of sour cream and packets of butter. That's it! Everything was clearly made with the cheapest possible ingredients and was absolutely awful. Save yourself the time, go ANYWHERE else!

Been there twice and every time our food was late, some ppl that got there after us got their food first, and we were just a party of three. I always order the same and every time the food was over cooked, dry. I know the place was renovated but for the money they must’ve put into it and the size of it you’d think they’d add bathrooms. Don’t know about the women’s bathroom but only one toilet for the men’s in a place that big. Kind of embarrassing to be using the facilities and have ppl knock on door or jingle the handle to make you hurry up. The waitress was kind and very polite, that was good. But not ever going back or ever recommending this place to anyone. Use to be a fair place but to me, the food and place have gone down hill.

My first and last time eating here.

Service was so slow, the food was below average, the constant ringing of a phone that nobody would answer, and the prices? Seriously out of line for what they offer.

Not A big fan of this place. Ribeye steak had little to no flavor. Fried mushrooms were watery. Dinner rolls were a hard swallow. Waiter brought bill and noticed tip of over $32 had been added. When asking about the tip up front the girl moved items out of the way at the cash register that had been covering their sign they add their own tip to parties 6 or more. We are a family of 6 with a three year old and 6 year old. I do not think the service provided was worth a $32+ tip. We will not be going back.
