I've been going here since we moved to Denison earlier this year. What a great place and great food The chicken is far superior to anywhere else I've been lately. The "sides" selection is unbelievably good. I've been here about six times and the staff has been very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended.

John is one heck of a salesman just had to buy a jug of tea. Love the fish filets. And corn on the cob.

It is fast, inexpensive and good. I love the corn nuggets. The lunch special is a great deal. Some of the best sweet tea around. I love how they bring the tray to you. The seasoning packets are yummy. The spicy chicken is enough to clear the sinuses but not burn the mouth too much. The white gravy is the best in town.

This is my local chicken express. They are always really nice and fast. We typically order the #25 or #30. The chicken steips are awesome. The food is piping hot most of the time. The key is to order enough to force them to make more. Lol. It can get expensive, but we order enough for chicken sandwich leftovers. 5 stars. Atmosphere was 4 star due to the building could use some updating and maintenance.

My chicken strips were done correctly. They had a great taste to them. They were hot. My okra was done right. My corn on the cob was delicious.

They have a really great lunch special on Sundays. A large drink, roll, 1 side, gravy and 3 awesome chicken tenders for $5.50. I was with 2 other friends and they had our food ready before we got our drinks from the fountain! They server carried our food to the table for us... nice touch 👍

I have got chicken many times here, and it is good, but I ordered a 3 piece dinner this week, with 2 thighs and 1 wing. When I got home I did not get 2 thighs, it was a piece of the back with the tail on them, they were not anywhere near a thigh piece. It was a part of back ribs with tail attached. Is this some new piece called a “thigh “. It certainly was not what I ordered, and the fried okra was only half with the bag covered in grease. Hope the quality is not going downhill!

Excellent bilingual staff. Clean dining room, outdoor dining, bathroom, and grounds. Drive through equipment functions properly. The food is exemplary 99% of the time. The fried fish really is a quite good item frequently overlooked here. Both versions of their chicken are great. Fried sides are not overcooked. The dinner rolls easily rival those from Grandy’s, but remember to ask for butter.

This location can really be a hit or miss in all ways. Today, the experience was okay. They seemed impatient, there was a long line though. The food was great today, as well! The mashed potatoes have a good enough flavor on their own to make up for as much gravy. I sometimes go for just the tea, lately it hasn’t been as good, today was alright. It was kind of watery, but not bitter or overly sweet. Nice to sip on, but not what it use to be. Definitely be prepared for a decent wait even when there’s no line. If you have the time though it can definitely it the spot.

Okay, I've eaten at Chicken Express many times. Its always decent quality at a fair price. But, recently I discovered that the Denison location serves catfish. And really good catfish at that. Clean, large, golden brown fillets cooked to order. Well worth the drive from Sherman and the wait for fresh fish.

3 out of 5. Best Chicken Express I have ever been to. Most have a " twang " in the flavor, this one does not. If the dining room was open it would be 4 stars. Rolls are fantasic and very fresh. Drive thru is a bit slow but my order was correct.

Food is excellent. Service leaves a lot to be desired. Wonder what the Express part in Chicken Express is for when it took over a half hour for our order. Claimed they did not hear the cashier call our order out 3 times. No apologies either!

My first visit was great. Four piece chicken strip dinner with corn nuggets and poppers for sides added a 32 Oz tea. .under 10.00 .My second visit will be my last one at this establishment Chicken strips were small and over cooked as was the okra...tea was stale.

A Pretty decent if not exceptional mostly fried chicken serving fast food restaurant. A speedy delivery process for the food friendly customer service and the food was fairly decent. I would come back here again sometime if I was in need of fast Fried Chicken.

2 years ago Great food, great prices, and senior discount! Tonight, 2/11/2022 We received NO gravy with our order, and we had ordered extra gravy! Last month, we ordered and the gravy was like water! I'm very disappointed in the Denison Chicken Express!

Food used to be really greasy but lay few times I've been here is been tasteless and sweet tea was horrible.

Always get the two piece of the three-piece Meal I like chicken legs the first time I went everything was great and tasted fresh there are okra is really good and the chicken legs are very good however the last visit which was around 5:00 p.m. the chicken legs were tough and tasted not as fresh as they usually are this time I had the hush puppies they were okay but not as good as other places I'll definitely will be back and hopefully when I get my chicken legs and my okra everything will taste as fresh as it was when I went on my first visit the employees at the window I go through the drive-thru or always very courteous and friendly it could have just been an off day the first time that I went was on a Friday around the evening time

First, let me say I love this chicken express. I was disappointed for the first time. My order number was DR-T #316 it was a catfish dinner with fries and slaw. The catfish, which is my favorite, was about 30 percent smaller and thin and chewy. It didn't even taste as good as it normally does. The breading was not the same. I'm not sure if y'all are trying to keep your cost down, I know the economy is tough. But when you sacrifice quality it makes me want to go to Huck's. Please don't disappoint me again. We went to chicken express yesterday. My wife remembered she had a free meal because last time chicken was raw. So not really free just remaking it later date. So she ordered replacement meal. They only gave her chicken strip she had to keep asking where the drink then where is the sides and roll. We ordered other food also. The customer service was horrible. If you going to charge so much now for chicken then at least have good customer service. We are done with chicken express I will drive to whitesboro or van alstyne to go to golden chicken. Took 30 mins to actually get our order and we were the only ones in drive thru and we asked is that everything the 2 females looked at one another and one replied yes we had no napkins and no bag they just handed us a hot box that could have been dropped because of it being hot. People need more training and more consideration for customers at this location..!!!

How very sad for this Resturant. Around a month a ago, They have changed the type of oil they cook with and it is destroying the flavor of the chicken and the fry’s. I threw away the last order I got from there . It was so bad that even my cat who loves chicken from there , turned up his nose and walked away. Good luck chicken express in finding a compatible oil to use.

I use to really enjoy chicken express, esp. the ice tea! But they have gone up on the prices so much AND now charge you a "$1 service fee" if you use a CC, even a Debit card! The price increases are enuf to cover fees! I don't spend my money with them anymore. S

The place is dirty when we placed our order I went to get our drinks counters dirty tables dirty I had to clean ours with a wet wipe. Fish was almost burned it was so crispy it was like Chevy Chase in Christmas vacation eating that turkey, we told the girl at the counter and we are still setting here for fish we can eat, sides are getting cold. These people make probably 15.00 an hour they can do better or get someone with a work ethic! I’m fixing to ask for our money back!

First off, the chicken was not fresh, it was not even warm. The breading was hard. The owner was there. He obviously has never heard the term "Cook Less More Often" but instead uses "Not Old Till it's Sold" The sides were okay, but the gravy soaked into the mashed potatoes. The male cashier that needs a hair cut and shave, seemed to be having a bad day. Shouldn't be on counter representing the restaurant. He is doing you no favors. We use to eat here frequently (weekly). Now, it is the last place we choose when we have ate everywhere else. Now it's probably every 6 weeks.

Everytime I go thru the drive thru at Chicken Express in Denison my order is never right! I live across town and always have to drive all the way back to get the food I had already ordered the first-time. Seriously Get it together! When I order inside during lunch time the service is much different!

Food is always good. My only complaint is that I ordered 2, number 2 (7tenders, side, roll, drink). Both the drinks were wrong. They were supposed to be a sweet tea and a doctor pepper. I received 2 unsweetened teas. Then I noticed that there were no french fries on one of my orders. So I call back up there to speak with someone about fixing the issue and I can hear the person who answered the phone say "well what do I tell them?" In s get condescending manner. I'm then informed that I can drive back up there for a regular fry, which I understand is customary. But I'm not going to drive 10 miles for one regular fry, so when I express that I wasn't okay with that solution THE GIRL HUNG UP ON ME. You can better your behind I won't be back... 2 stars for good food... I wish I could give the service negative stars.

This restaurant was not to good at getting our order right. I ordered the 2 piece meal. That's not what i got. I hot a 6 piece chicken tender meal...one regular and one hot. I don't know where they a 6 piece meal when it was repeated twice...a 2 piece chicken meal. Wasn't too happy with this...plus for 2 meals it cost over 30 dollars. I wouldn't have minded paying for what I wanted and ordered but the guy taking orders from the drive thru just didn't get it right.

So I just got my wisdom teeth pulled and I needed something soft to eat so I went to chicken express for some Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes and something for my kiddo. I pulled up to the menu and asked what kids meals they offered and they asked me tenders or something else and I said tenders. Well after stating I wanted tenders I thought they would’ve proceeded to explain the counts and sides they had for them and so on. I probably sat there for a couple of mins in silence waiting on some kind of response(this kind of irritated me). So I said you know what let me just get 2 tenders by them selves with a large mash and medium Mac. They told me the total and so then I drove up to the window. A guy that seemed to be ginger with glasses opens the window while I was unlocking my card. He then kind of lightly said “I’ll give u time” but as he went to close the window my hand was already out of mine with my card. He then took my card and payed for the order then giving it back to me with a receipt with me replying with a thank you. Not a you’re welcome or a no problem or anything. Shortly after that he gave me my food and just doesn’t even say a word. Probably one of the most weird, awkward, irritating fast food experiences I ever had. No hospitality or greetings or good days. I’ll probably just drive to Sherman’s next time💀

We eat here every so often and it just seems to get worse each time. I don't eat their chicken like the rest of my family. I opt for the fish. This time it was the worst fish I've ever had. While it had a crispy look to it, it was completely floppy and soggy. As in, not too fresh. They also brought out the other orders before mine, so I was left waiting. I can't stand when establishments do this. You should always time it out so that everyone is served at the same time! Their sides, like the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes are all "prepackaged" into tiny little cups. After this last experience, it will be a good long while before I try them again, if at all.

Just left. Menu said 25.00s for a family 20pcs chicken tenders. They tried to charge me 50.00s at the window. I repeatedly told them. They said No it will be 39.99. For the 20pcs tenders. Very poor service. And false advertising.

Went through the drive through today ordered two chicken meals two piece white got it back to house to eat and it was terrible mashed potatoes dried out the homemade roll was not edible undercooked solid raw dough on bottom side chicken was greasy and not fresh and it was 12 noon straight up .on one of my breast the last couple bites smelled funny and tasted funny and when my bro cracked onto his breast it stunk bad in other words one chicken breast was bad and other I consumed was going bad .yuk it's by God's grace I did not get sick ill never go back again I'm done no fried chicken is worth food poisoning not sure how when you reach into a box of fresh chicken you don't smell it's spoiled as I myself used to cook fried chicken at a restaurant for several years reckon no one paying attention.at first I was disappointed in the waste of 20bucks but in the end thankful no food poisoning.

Okra was burnt and hard tasting of old grease. Chicken tenders were dried out and rubbery. Spending right at $40 for two meals and it being such poor quality is really terrible

We ordered our food at 620pm and finally received it in the driveway or parking lot until 655 after they had to come ask us what our order was or if we ordered the guy that took our money was rude and when we paid the total was 35.01 was my husband gave him 100.01 he gave him back .99 c in change with the bills my husband said I Gabe u the penny so u would give me no change he said hang on let me figure thos out like come on it was terrible and to top it off the biscuits were about a qt in thick and hard as a rock never again

Pulled into drive thru around 9:20pm, made sure of closing hours beforehand and a few employees were standing outside. No one answered at box and one of them yelled over "Nah man we out of food". I simply asked, "You out of soda, that's all I came for?" the employee just walked away.

You always know what to expect with Chicken Express. Except this location. You should know if you go here you will get terrible service, and not what you order. And don't expect to call and talk to someone about it, they don't answer their phone... We have order at the drive thru at least 3 times in the last 6 months and they have yet to give me what I ordered. But they love to take my money. Avoid this chicken express location. If anything travel to Sherman or Durant their employees can follow a standard order at Those locations. The Denison location always let's us down. Employees are incompetent and unable to read what is ordered or they just give you what they think you need.... Not what you order.

This was an unfortunate experience. Showed up in the drive thru at 7:30 pm, not another soul in the drive thru... ordered an 8 pc family meal. Was told it would be a 20 minute wait. I don’t understand how you can be so unprepared in the evening when people are picking up to feed their entire family. After nearly 30 minutes, we got our order and it was cooked to death! I don’t see another visit in the near future.

Ordered a family meal, to feed 5 people, mashed potatoes were half full, pretty sure 12 pieces of chicken isn't a 25 piece, that a family corn nugget doesn't come with 12 pieces, no dipping sauce was provided even though requested, burnt rolls. Overall bad experience :/

This is hands down the worst one I've ever been to and we love their food! Everytime we come to this one the order is wrong, the drinks are bad, the employees are rude. We're all about giving places more than one chance but the fact remains that the one in Durant is better all around.

This was worst than ever. We went to the Denison Texas Store because they was all ways better than Sherman in the past, but it was a wasted trip. Chicken was small and extremely hard. Wanted to take it back but already wasted gas and time going over there. Very disappointed.

It has been a long while since we have eaten here. We used to go 2 or 3 times a month. Every time that we used our credit card our info was stolen. This happened 4 times in about 2 months. Our bank told us not to use our card there anymore. We have not and we have had no more issues with our credit card info being stolen.

Ordered a 16 peice meal with three sides spent 54.00 dollars on And it tasted like it’s been sitting there all day wasn’t worth eating , if you keep serving food like that you will be shutting down soon ! Do better !

I got fried fish fillets and okra. The fish was so salty that all I could taste was salt. The okra was cold and full of greasy oil. Nastiest experience. If this is the new normal for them, I predict bankruptcy soon.

God I stopped going to this damn place because every time I order EXTRA CRISPY chicken tenders. Theyre always soft and gooey like they weren't even cooked to the normal standard. I had to wait 15 minutes this time and they still managed to mess it up. This is about the 7th time they have done this. I don't understand. I would have GLADLY waited an extra 7 minutes for them to be fried a bit more. I have never left a bad review on a single restaurant in denison but I am greatly ashamed this time. I hate to be a Karen about this but Im just at my limit with how deaf they are.

I came in for lunch 8/19/24. The lady running the cash register was nice, but it was very difficult to understand what she was saying. When my food was ready, an employee walked over to my table and said, "You had the uhhh..uuhhhh..uhhh..... ", so I asked what it was. He just pointed at the tray and slapped it down at my table. Alrighty then. The food wasn't very good at all, with some portions being undercooked and other portions being extremely overcooked. Mashed potatoes were meh. I won't be coming back to this location.

I love chicken express. This is the worst I've ever had. Chicken was really over cooked or really old. Almost inedible. Ordered extra biscuits. All the biscuits were about as hard as hockey pucks. Fries were under cooked. We paid over $30 for this meal this is unacceptable. I'm not one to complain often but this is poor poor management.

Prices are more expensive than website and other locations. Saw price on website and asked on phone call. When we order two hours later it was almost 40 dollars more than the original price. Night manager couldn't tell us why.

Used doordash the other night to order food half of it was not there when it reached my home. So I called Chicken Express to let them know that my food was not all there. Whoever answered the phone refused to let me speak to a manager...... he said he could replace my food that was missing but I'd have to come and get it I told him I'm in a wheelchair there's a reason I called doordash and paid the fees. I said a lot of people use doordash for a reason not just because they're lazy he said and I quote and. Supposedly he was a night lead person very rude inconsiderate will never eat here again not because of the food but because of the staff.

Went to the drop be thru apparently six minutes prior to closing and the tenders that I wanted unfortunately wasn’t already cooked and sitting under a heat lamp. So the cashier tells me it would take 10 minutes to cook the chicken, but they close in six minutes so basically I was not permitted to order anything because they didn’t want to cook chicken 6 minutes before closing time. Well maybe chicken express should advertise they close at 9:54 and express that. So disappointing. I won’t return.

09/17/25 ordered a 4 piece chicken strip dinner with drink..$14 There was way too much batter and very little chicken. The strips had been sitting for a while also. Not a good experience.. The manager Andrea is nasty, beware … she acted like a complete idiot when the delivery driver would not do her job and prepare the customers order. Then when you ask for the owner Greg she claims she doesn’t have the information . This place is gross if I could give it less stars I would.

Beside the fact this place has become really over priced we also found the tenders so extremely salty that none of us could eat the chicken tenders. If I lived closer to this business I would have taken it back. Probably my last purchase.

The cashier was rude and disrespectful. Got 15 piece tenders, the biscuits were hard as rocks, they forgot to give me gravy. It took several minutes for anyone to help me with my order. This review is like many of the other negative reviews, its a hit or miss experience at this establishment. Yesterday, 1/16/2025, we ordered the chicken livers w/biscuit, and fries. Livers was completely dried up, suggesting they had been under the heat lamp all day. Biscuit, just like other complaints, hard as a rock. Prior visit, livers were fresh and plump. Wasted $$

It started off regular, I pulled up to get a chicken strip box, fried pickles and corn nuggets with an extra roll. When I pull up I’m met with a cashier who doesn’t even greet me or say hi back and looks very high. I pay as normal, which for what I got was almost 20$ very overpriced for small chicken strips not even getting a drink I got a cup of ice. I asked for extra ranch and he genuinely looked at me like I was stupid. I checked my food when I got it and noticed I was missing my extra roll when he told him he genuinely thought I was lying about it but he had just handed it to me and I told him how could I eat it that fast?? He asked his co worker if they put the extra one in there when I was literally showing him it wasn’t in there… he went back and got my extra roll acting like it was a problem to say “ahh sorry ma’am I’ll go get that” when I got home and finished my drink I noticed it was a hair at the bottom of the cup.. not mine because I just poured the drink in there not even moving the ice. Don’t go here just go to the one in Sherman or Durant they hire anybody. Long wait time while being the only one in the drive thru.

Just sat in the drive thru for almost 30 minutes completely ignored, then told it was because they have a new menu and don't know how to ring things up. There were 3 vehicles in front of us that apparently got waited on.

I have never had bad chicken express until today. The bread and okra taste like it had been under a warmer all day. The chicken was not great either. It was very hard to chew and dry. If I hadn’t been on my way to work I would have went back and complained. I don’t usually complain about my food but this is not eatable. Go somewhere else between the awful drive through experience of the guy who wouldn’t wear the headset properly and i had to play the guessing game of what he was saying between the ruffling of him moving it around his neck to pulling up to the window to having the order completely wrong and once told again what i ordered it was still wrong and cold. Also might add hearing him cussing the F word loud enough after closing the window was just mighty professional as well. Could easily tell he did not care to be there nor care to give even mediocre service. If i could give 0 stars I would. I will not go back.

I did an online order from DoorDash, and my food arrived pretty quick, which I was very excited about. But I was quickly disappointed. I opened my food. It looked pretty burnt and when I bit into my chicken, it was burnt and not very easy to tear apart didn’t feel fresh at all either so I called And let them know about the food every time I go in store the food is fine. I looked at the other DoorDash reviews. They all had the same complaints. When I called, they were super friendly and offered a replacement. I kindly declined because I don’t want anybody to have to do all of that for me and I’m just grateful I have food in front of me Either the Recent cook hasn’t been very good or they don’t care about DoorDash orders.

Our chicken was so SALTY we could not eat it! Drove 20 miles home and discovered how salty it was. $57 wasted. Took a long time at the window to get our food, confusion among the workers filling out order. Also, a man carrying a small child walked in to the kitchen area where they were filling orders and the workers reached in the prepared french fry tray (no gloves, both) to get the child a French fry 😫😳 the workers were literally all looking at our order and taking things in and out of our boxed meals. It was a hoot! Never going back. They need training from the Durant Chicken Express!

Chicken tastes like a whole gallon of salt was dumped on it (and I like my food on the saltier side usually), sweet tea tastes like they don’t clean the tank and it grew mold, and I asked for regular chicken and half of the strips were spicy?? Y’all need new, more intelligent staff that know how to make food, clean things out correctly, and follow directions. Would give zero stars if I could.

Spend your money elsewhere. This location has terrible food. My family and I have eaten here at least twice now. Both experiences were crappy. First time the food was old and disgusting and that was a few years ago when we first moved to the area. Decided to give them another chance since a few years had went by and hoping they had new management and just changed things. We were wrong.. this second time eating here was the exact same. Don’t even try to get a refund, the manager will just want you to drive all the way back up there to bring back the food in the box as if they need proof. I get its fast food but McDonald’s is better than this place and that’s just sad. Never again.

Called to tell them that the chicken is EXTREMELY salty and I get a women with a rude attitude to bring back the food when I just said I didn't have a car. The excuse was that they marinate the chicken overnight but all the other times I have eaten at ANY chicken express the chicken is hardly even salty. It's salty to the point it hurts my chest to even consume. So I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one having this problem. That store needs to get BETTER employees with better customer service.

DON'T GO TO THIS CHICKEN EXPRESS IN DENISON! We love Chicken Express but the one in Denison is absolutely horrible!!! They just can't seem to get it together. We usually order Chicken Express every Wednesday from Durant. My husband works next door to the one in Denison so we had hoped they had gotten better because we haven't eaten from the one in Denison in a year because it was always so bad. We thought we would give them a try. Big mistake! T,he food wasn't even eatable! As soon as my husband got home and I opened the box you could tell the tenders had been under a heat lamp for a long time. It tasted like the oil it was cooked in was burned. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! We ended up eating sandwiches. I called and was told to come in tomorrow and I could get my money back. When I went in the next day they wanted the food back. What the heck? I wasn't told that or I would have loved to keep it and return it. They ended up giving me a gift card that I later used in Durant. Management sucks and needs some classes on service.
