Opinions de Boca 31 Denton
Boca is amazing. They are more consistent than other restaurants in town, and they have soul. Their pastor tacos are amazing. Ask for a side of jalapeños always! Also, the owner and sous chef are beasts!!!
The food here is delicious. We tried all of the tacos and fried things (empanadas?)The Guava Cream Cheese one is stellar! The cinammon chocolate posicle is also amazing. The staff here is out-of-this world. I can't remember ever meeting such friendly workers... If you're considering trying, do it. You'll be in for a treat.
Every bite leaves your mouth fulfilled, their many flavor combinations are found in fabulous dishes. The "special" is always amazing! Funky little spot but the food more than makes up for it.
Charming converted house with a great outside porch, partly covered, for eating. The food is absolutely delicious, with a varied menu and great off the menu specials. Everything is prepared fresh to order. Prices are reasonable and the staff is efficient and friendly.
We had a graduation celebration for some students in my department at UNT, and we selected them due to previous experiences at the restaurant. Everyone loved the food catered at the event. The staff was very professional and helpful. I will definitely use them again.
Great local bite! Everything I’ve tried from here has been delicious. Empanadas are a must! Limited indoor seating, but plenty of outdoors spots. Also, great to pick up.
This place is a treasure of Denton. The latin food here is so different from other restaurants in the area. They put their own uniqueness in their food and it's amazing. I highly recommend getting their empanadas and yuca fries. The building has a cool atmosphere and all the employees are super friendly. Give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed!
After living all over South America and having a love of Latin food. I must say that Andres the staff at Boca31 have nailed it outa the park! Some of the best flavored meats and amazing tacos I have had in my life. You can go wrong with anything you order here.
You can't go wrong here. Boca31 is unreasonably delicious. The empanadas, the tacos, the yucca fries, it's all fantastic. Nice little patio to enjoy when the weather is nice, or take it to go to Armadillo or Harvest House and combine with some brews.
The food was absolutely amazing. Definitely try the spinach and goat cheese empanadas. Also had the pork empanada and barbacoa taco and they were great as well. Super cozy place with a very nice staff. It's also very affordable. Definitely will come back!
I am excited about this restaurant! The first reason is the food tastes good and fresh. The second reason is the food is clean. Meaning, they use simple flavors and simple preparation that comes through in the flavor. The reason I bring this up is so often when eating this style of food, which is mexican/cuban? (that is a guess) your estomogo does not feel too good afterwards. I had an empañada, a vegi taco, and tried one of their salads and everything was excellent. No liquor license, but you can brown bag. Only downside is there is not much seating inside. Plenty of tables outside when the weather cools down. I will also consider take-out when I need something fast and somewhat healthy.
This place has great food and is very child friendly! My five year old son is super picky, and upon overhearing that he didn't approve of the way the chicken looked they unpropmtedly brought him out cheese-only quesadillas. They are very nice and accommodating. The food also comes out very quickly. Side note: my Cuban wife loved the music!
The chicken pastor tacos are so addictive. They are amazing with the garlic crema, although I don't think they normally come with that. I think you have to ask for it. And everyone is extremely friendly. I have never had a bad experience here.
Delicious!! I cannot believe it took me so long to try this place. I had all three empanadas they offered today. Pork Chili Verde, Spinach Goat cheese with carmalized onion and the guava cream. All were excellent and I am not normally a fan of spinach, but will order this again. The garlic crema served alongside was just garlicky enough to enhance without taking over. Friendly and knowledgeable staff made my first visit a pleasure.
This place was amazing! The food was cooked fresh and fast. The staff was nice and super helpful, everything from the empanadas to the tacos to the rice bowls was all very good and well priced, I will definitely be going back!
Best black beans and rice ever! We loved it. Terrific sangria too. Pulled pork tostadas were excellent. As were the barbacoa brisket tacos and the adobo chicken tacos. Service was top notch as well. The AC can't really stand up to 103 degree heat at 8 pm, but the food more than makes up for it. We are already planning a return trip.
Visiting from out of state. Was looking for something unique that I couldn't get back home. This place does not disappoint. I got the shredded chicken burrito that was the special of the day. And a couple goat cheese and spinach empanadas. "Chef's kiss" The empanadas were the real show stoppers. Dipped in the garlic crema. I should have ordered a dozen extra for the drive home. So good!!
Been here several times and they are DELICIOUS. The pork green enchiladas are the best! (Especially with the garlic crema). I highly suggest this place bc the staff is always sweet and helpful, and the food is great! For the tacos, I wish maybe the tortillas wouldn’t fall apart so easy... but that’s the only thing and not a huge deal. I follow/stalk them on IG and they always seem to have delicious daily specials... do yourself a favor and go here !!
If you’re looking for more than just an ordinary taco, you’ve come to the right place. Their vegetarian taco (I love sweet patato) is a knock out, along with their meat options. Also, their empanadas are spectacular. The food is fresh with a taste that is unique to itself. I highly recommended dining here.
The food is outstanding. The menu is limited but their dishes are fantastic. There is extremely limited indoor seating if the weather is bad, but the tacos are worth it. Check out their daily special too.
Amazing. I can only imagine how many people have driven by thus restaurant and have no idea what they are missing out on every day. Quality is an A+, service is and A+, creativity is an A+. Everything is handmade from scratch and you can tell that everyone working here id's proud to do so. It really shows in their food. I made the decision to follow them on Facebook and it haunts me every day when I see them post their specials (as I work in Dallas now.)
Oh my goodness.., This place. I can’t tell you how much I wished I lived closer. Gotta try the Empanadas. Employees are always super nice. The wait is sometimes long due to the fact they are so busy. But it is so worth the wait.
Latin food that is truly second to none. Great quality food made fresh daily. Great vibe and good music. Inside and outside seating with covered deck. This place will not disappoint I promise! Friendly staff great food and an atmosphere that feels like being at your Tia's house. Honestly dont know how Guy [from Diners Drive in's and dives] has not already covered this place, it's that good.
Fun Latin environment great food. Chips and salsas come with two different choices of chips and salsa! Peruvian Sandwich is a perfect blend of spicy, sweet, crunchy, hot and cold a must try!!! Not Tex Mex but Latin so a nice break from the everyday!
I had the pleasure of dining at Boca31 on thier opening weekend. It has been almost 4 years since then and we had driven in from Midland TX, so needless to say we were excited visiting this restaurant. The unassuming building has not changed much since thier opening, and let me tell you, the food is still amazing. We ordered the tacos, empanadas, and quesadillas. I had to go back in and order more food a couple of times because my kids kept eating. The hibiscus tea was just as we remembered. The youngest, a ripe 2 years of age inhaled everything he could fit in his mouth, and the only thing he found not to his liking was the barbacoa brisket. The Chef owner has always been very warm and welcoming when we visit and I am glad to say it has upheld the reputation that we tout. Bottom line, take your family, friends, take a stranger they will find something delicious to eat and staff that is a as warm as the food.
This place is always so good when I go! Went today, it was fairly empty and recieved our food very quickly. My friend had the steak sandwich and I had 2 shrimp tacos that were very filling. I recommend this place to most people making sure they try the agua fresca and empanadas.
I keep missing the beautiful specials they post on Facebook, but the normal menu is phenomenal. The empanadas are my wife's favorites and we haven't found a bad one yet. The sandwiches are my bag and the same goes for them. Not a cozy place, but perfect for a casual dinner with friends or significant other.
Everything that I have ever eaten from here has been delicious. I’ve had both their catering and actual restaurant, and both are so so good. The outdoor seating area is a must when the weather is nice.
This place is incredible when ever I visit Denton I get a meal there. They are a small restaurant with 4 or 5 table but addition seating located outside weather permitting. The food is cooked to order right in front of you by a very friendly staff. The owner is a Chef and operate the kitchen. I have tried many different item on the menu and have not been disappointed yet. Would highly recommend Boca 31
This place serves absolutely delicious street tacos, chips, and salsa. Their beef and potato tacos taste absolutely delicious, along with their barbacoa tacos, and their chips are deliciously baked and served with a delicious salsa. The only downside is that the place is very small, so it's probably better to take out than to eat inside.
The food is incredible. Do yourself a favor and get the yucca fries and extra crema on the side. The chicken tacos are very flavorful. Have been back several times and will continue. Very small place but nice outdoor seating.
A good place to eat with a friendly atmosphere and nice people who seem to enjoy being there and serving you. Although the menu was super large, the quality of what was there more than made up for it. Not too much space for indoor dining, the outside area compensated for it, with it being large, cool and shaded. Definitely hit this place up and support if you're in need for a good bite to eat!
One of my favorite restaurants EVER. Yucca fries are to die for, the bowls are the best bang for your buck, the tacos are amazing, empanadas also amazing. So so so so good. Plus, the owner is always there and everything is super fresh! Service is always great along with the delicious food.
Food was just great. The cilantro mayo is spectacular. Went awesome on the yucca fries. Prices a little higher than we expected, but totally worth it. Space is a little small but cute. Very Mexican in decor.
Absolutely fabulous Latin food and best tacos EVER! We tried the chicken, ground beef and vegetarian tacos. The chicken were our favorite but they were all excellent. Kind and helpful staff eager to help us first-timers with recommendations. We will definitely be back!
Delicious, authentic, and expedient! I love this place every time I go. The menu rotates, so make sure you know when they have what you're looking for. I'm always waiting for their delicious plantain chips to return. Portions are substantial, but not overwhelming. Comfortable, friendly environment for anyone.
I've never had any food I didn't like here. They rotate specials each day too. Empanadas are great too. A definite go-to when I have visitors from out of town. Updating this just to say that Boca is still amazing. Their specials are always worth trying. Also open on Saturday evenings 5-8 PM now.
My daughter brought me here for lunch for my first time around 12:30 and the house was packed. Shortly I understood why. The service to take our order was friendly and fast. We sampled from the menu: Chicken tortilla soup, 1 pork and 1 spinach empanada, and mixed chips and salsa. Everything was freshly made and so flavorful. We will be back!
A fantastic taste of hispanic street-style food. Always very fresh and made with care. The kitchen is open to the interior dining area so you can see it being prepared. I've not had a single bad thing in the handful of times eating here. I most highly recommend the empanadas, as they're cheap, delicious, and filling. Also, they come with the house made sour cream which is so good I could almost eat it by itself. The specials are always special. The only bad thing about this restaurant is its location, which is more the property owners fault than the staff of this restaurant. Its easy to miss, the parking lot has lots of potholes, and it can be dark at night. Seating is limited and can be uncomfortable, but that I'm still giving this a 5-star score should tell you how little the negatives impact the positives.
This is an extremely worn place by the college, but they had a very nice covered outdoor seating area that the breeze passed through. Everything was cooked hot and fresh. The barbacoa brisket taco was good. It was topped with pickled red onions and slaw. But the empanada was the bomb!!!! The outer crust was a light golden color, perfectly cooked and the filling of pork and green chillies was tender and juicy with just the right amount of heat. I highly recommend this place. It is not fancy but the food is mighty good!
Their tacos are AMAZING! Seriously, please eat here! The food is so tasty and fresh and taste authentic. Started following them on Instagram months ago and finally had a chance to stop by for lunch and already want to go back! They also have a daily special food item which always looks delicious!
Ridiculously delicious. A flavor sensation. Hands down, the tacos and best beans and rice I've ever had. It was hot sitting inside, but it was also like 120 degrees outside, so I'll give them a break there. The food made up for it, that's for sure.
One of my absolute favorite restaurants. For a small, local, casual place, the service and friendliness of the staff is extraordinary. The small menu is miraculously delicious, and the flavors range from Peruvian to Mexican to Cuban and all the best ways. See you there!
Food was very flavorful, generous and reasonably priced. Staff was very helpful and informative. Tacos are a little messy and could use a second layer of corn tortilla. Everyone in our party had their tacos split open and had to finish them with the fork and knife provided. A definite return visit is in the near future.
Staff was really nice and friendly; you can see they take pride in their food! Ordered the Peruvian sandwich with the tortilla and yucca chips, it was SO GOOD! Had the guava and cream cheese empanada for dessert, also super delicious. Definitely coming back again.
Tiny building with just a few seats inside, so make sure to arrive before the rush. The food is definitely worth it. Great selection and great taste. Unique twists on old favorites. Modern Latin American food.
This place is amazing! Staff is super friendly! And I LOVE the goat cheese and spinach empanadas, chips and queso, yucca fries, and my steak sandwich! We also got to try the reverse quesadillas that were CRAZY GOOD! I've been craving them since we went last, so now that I'm writing this, were going again today! And the owner of the restaurant is awesome!
It felt like I was sitting at Mom’s table for Sunday dinner. I could taste all the flavors from back home. More than just the amazing food, there’s also the airy dining deck, and the old school music. I closed my eyes and for a moment felt like I was back in Miami . Thank You, for the wonderful service and dining experience
I visited last night with my daughter. I had a great experience. I had not looked at the menu before so was a little off when my my daughter could not get tortilla soup (I made a generalization that it would be available here) the staff was more than accommodating and offered her an alternative that she said yes to. She ate every thing and even had a side of beans and rice. A huge win for a picky eater. Now to me. I was able to get two empanadas, one spinach and goat cheese and one pork Verde, plus the veggie taco. 3 things, three different flavors and 3 great foodie experiences. Absolutely recommend. Big eaters should get 3-4 empanadas. I am trying to eat better so i got two and a taco and it was way more than enough. Service was great.
Sift through the burger, tacos, chicken & average restaurant food & you’ll find some of the best food you’ve eaten in a while. A Latin mix (think South America) perfectly cooked, fresh & expertly seasoned. I had the blackened chicken sandwich with grilled onions & Tabasco mayo on a fresh white French bread The bread is so fresh it’s got a nice crust but not hard . The chicken, while blackened, was spot on & certainly not burned. It was moist, tender & flavorful. Served with a spring mix salad.
My husband and I came here for a quick bite and the food was absolutely delicious 🤤 The staff was absolutely amazing and very welcome. We are from VA and we enjoy trying new places!!! Thank you to the young lady who made our food! And the Guava one was absolutely worth the try! We are truly grateful to have found a place that we can sit catch great vibes and eat great food! Thank you all 🙏🏿❤️ Be Blessed
The spinach, ghost cheese, and caramelized onion empanada was very delicious and a unique flavor combination, but the pulled pork taco (daily special) blew it out of the water. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The guava cream cheese empanada had good flavor but the filling was runny and pooled to one end, so I'd likely try something else next time. Plenty of outdoor seating, not sure about indoor as we didn't look. Highly recommended restaurant.
I have had both the chicken and beef tacos from here. They were both fantastic and two filled me up. They are loaded with meat and veggies from their pico de gallo. Everything is made fresh in-house, providing authenticity and uniqueness. Everyone that works here is really nice and they are accommodating of special dietary needs.
The only thing that disappoints me here is that the inside of this restaurant is so small. We were lucky as a party of 3 that there was still seating inside. However, it's great for those who want to match their budget with appetite. You can get 1 taco as a nice snack or 3 or more to satisfy your hunger. I've heard from my sister that it's usually busy but the food is great & there's additional seating outside so it's definitely worth checking out. Pic of a taco in its own taco holder.
Tried this place on a whim and was not disappointed. Great restaurant specializing in Latin street food. I had two different empanadas (goats cheese & onions and brisket) and a brisket taco. Empanadas were stuffed full, as was the taco. They have limited indoor seating, but a generous amount of outdoor seating. The food was amazing and I liked the overall vibe.
This location has plenty of outdoor sitting area, clean dinning area. Mask are required in Denton. They have a variety of tacos, empinadas and Rice bowls on the menu. One can also order beer and wine. No magharitas. On this visit I ordered Brisket taco, chicken taco and spinach and goat cheese empinada with a side of orange + passion juice. I was not disappointed with the taste. This is a must try Latin restaurant whenever you need a quick fix! And let me not forget to mention that it will take them about 15 min to ready your meal.
Fantastic atmosphere!!! Awesome People!!!! Best empanadas I have ever had!! Pork Verde was savory. The spinach, goat cheese and carmalized onions were an experience in themselves that should not be missed. The guava and cream cheese dessert empe was perfect to end with. The yucca fries were good and the cilantro dipping sause was fantastic. Highly recomend this Latin fusion food paradise to any in the Denton area. The topper is how affordable it is.
Used to love to come for their fantastic sandwiches. But prices have gone up and portion sizes have more than halved. The empanadas are good, the other entrees are just ok.
We try to go here every year when we drop off or pick up son at UNT. The empanadas are great (and there is even a desert one). Also like the tacos. The pickled onions on top add a lot of contrasting flavor.
First experience here wasn't great. The staff is very friendly, maybe a little bit too much. I kinda felt like I was in a Bath & Body Works... aggressive. It didn't impress me my first visit. I had a barbacoa taco which had pink slaw that was very weird. It didn't taste right. Tried the chorizo taco and it was also strange. The empanadas were pretty tasty though! My second visit was like night and day. Tried barbacoa again and what a difference! It was so good! I'm guessing that the meat was fresher or previously there was something that wasn't meant to be in the taco. The empanadas were as good as I remembered as well. Basically tldr Very good tacos but restaurant needs consistency. Plus Empanadas are the bomb.
Up from Irving for a date night with the wife Way good food! Feels a bit crowed on a Friday night, but there's no wait time even with the crowd. Very impressed with the food! Tried Boca 31 on a third party recommendation. I'd definitely come back, bring others and recommend in the future!
Menu is limited and the staff wasn’t very friendly BUT some of the best Mexican food I’ve found in the area. Guava/Cream Cheese empanadas was such a delicious combo. Liked every thing we got
Very busy and for good reason. Ordered tacos and an empanada. The chicken had a nice char on it and the pulled pork was spiced just right. A little small for inside dining so we went next door and washed it all down with a tasty beverage 😋
First time I tried it, tacos were BOGO free, who doesn't love that! Seems like a cute little place for summer lunches or dinners. I tried the vegetarian tacos. The sweet potato was a strange addition, but other than that they were good. I tried all their sauces, delicious. I also tried the dessert empanada, guava and cream cheese that was amazing!
Really great experience! The temperature and texture of the food was perfection! I had the vegan Taco, pulled pork empanada, Chicken Chile Empanada, Yuca Fries, and Chicken PastorTaco! The vegan Taco was great and had good flavor! The empanadas were smaller than expected and their flavor didn't stand out to what I expected! But it was perfectly cooked/fried/baked as evidenced by its crunch. The yuca Fries are prefect as well. The flavor of the chicken Pastor was great and could stand on its own. The green Chile sauce was also great and the hot sauce wasn't really spicy. Overall good food and a good experience!
Friendly service & very clean restraunt. So much better than a lot of other places in Denton. Love the outdoor seating as well. Visited a second time for lunch 5/7/19 and got the pulled brisket tostada with pineapple pico. I liked that much better than the tacos I ordered previously. It was a very large portion. Honesty I would have liked to have the option to only order 1 as it was really too large for me. I did order the children's chicken quesadilla as well just to see what it was like. It truly has a LOT of chicken on it. I mean more than most places put on an adult quesadilla. It does have seasoning though so depending on how picky your child is you may need to stick with the cheese version (but the chicken is definitely good & you may want one for yourself).
I ordered two empanadas, 1 taco and fried yuca and bill was 19 dollars. It was delicious but I think is over priced. Food was delicious but no additional experience in service or location to justify the high price. I am mot sure if will come back... unless really craving for the empanadas regardless the price.
This was a fun find. They don't have a huge menu but the food was really good. I had the best veggie taco I have ever had here. The roasted sweet potato and carrots mixed with black beans, monterey jack cheese, fresh coleslaw and pickled onions had the perfect mix of textures and flavors. It was a delight for your taste buds. I enjoyed the pulled pork taco as well but it was nothing compared to the veggie one. We also tried the chips and salsa. Both the green and red salsas were delicious. We had the brisket/cheese and chicken/cheese empanadas and they were delicious with the garlic cream sauce. Lots of Cuban flavors and yummy choices here. I look forward to going back and trying some of there other options.
It was ok. I got the pulled pork bowl it looked good but pretty bland . The guava and cream cheese empanada was tasty . The food was a little over price considering, I don't might spending money on great food but this just didn't to it for me.
Great customer service. The staff was amazing. The food was not the best thing ever. I know not all Latin food is spicy but my sandwich and tacos had to be the most bland thing I ever had. I'm slightly torn because you can taste the freshness of the food but it's like the food is for people that think salt is spicy and mayo add a little zest to their meal. So its a good restaurant but not a place I would have pass by and say hey how about we go here for dinner tonight.
Tried chicken and pork tacos they were below average with lots of slaw, chicken and cheese empanada was very tasty, yucca fries were good, broccoli fajita was bad no seasoning at all over cooked rice. All that with 2 sodas and a glass of the homemade sangria came out to $50. Ouch! Too much $$ to go home hungry
We really wanted this to be a good experience but fell way short. My wife and I went there for lunch today and she ordered 2 brisket tacos and I ordered 2 chicken tacos with seasoned yucca fries. The service was good but the food was not. My wife who love brisket tacos could only take 1 bite because the meat was too salty. It was like eating just salt. My chicken tacos were ok but a little salty. Not a good experience when you leave a restaurant and go somewhere else to eat.
