(Visited, 3/2/2025) I booked this cute experience for a group of friends and me to enjoy a cozy brunch — and it ended up being so much more than I expected. I had heard the food was great, so I trusted that part, but I was really looking for a private, comfortable space where we could relax and connect. This setup delivered on both fronts. Despite the cold weather outside, the space was warm and inviting. It was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully arranged, making it feel both stylish and intimate. Our server, Ana, was incredible — attentive and patient the whole time. Since our group didn’t all arrive at the same time, she stayed on top of things, making sure everyone was served seamlessly as they joined. We kicked things off with the nachos, adding chicken. It was a good appetizer — enough for all eight of us to get a taste, but if you’re looking to start with something hearty, you might want to order an extra plate. For my main dish, I had the Steak and Eggs Bowl. The eggs were cooked perfectly (I asked for hard scrambled), and the steak was tender and juicy. Every bite was packed with flavor. A few things to know before you go: • Reservations: They require a deposit to book, which gets applied to your final bill. • Minimum spend: There’s a minimum spend per group, based on the yurt’s size. • Parking: Street parking was easier than I expected — no issues finding a spot. I’d absolutely come back. The food, the ambiance, and the meaningful, candid conversations we had in that cozy little space made this an unforgettable experience.
This place was DELICIOUS. I have been to a few of the sister restaurants but nothing compares to this one. The atmosphere is amazing. We sat on the patio and it was huge, which is a rare find in the area it is in! The indoor decor was really fun and beautiful. Service was great and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the nachos and the summer zucchini pasta.
I was recommended this place while visiting Boston on a work trip, and I was definitely not disappointed. Myself and my coworkers had some of the seafood options and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was very attentive, and I highly recommend anyone to go here. I had the blackened fish tacos, image attached to show how good it was.
My fourth time at the Bowery Bar and people keep coming back for a reason. You have to get the crab Rangoon dip, which is itself worth the price of admission. Their cocktail selections change all the time so you're always being surprised. I, however, will not get the Farmers' Omelet - it was a little dry and springy but not representative of the amazing quality of food that this fantastic place serves.
Anna was absolutely amazing she was so sweet and accommodating. She was swift with her service and at every time we needed something she was on top of it. The food was delicious I wish I could say more but there are not enough words to say how amazing it was. I will definitely be recommending this place and will be back soon.
Unusually good brunch for the kind of place this is! Their drinks are must-try, especially their Bloody Marys and Girl Scout cookie themed coffee drinks :) I’ll be back for that Breakfast Sammy, my husband isn’t a breakfast sandwich guy (which I will never understand), but he said he’d have that as his first sandwich of the day any day of the week. Brunch bowl was refreshing for its Fall flavors, steak and avocado salad was simple and refreshing, not too much going on if you just want some volume and hearty nutrients. Will probably come back for the eggs benny because I’m a benny fanatic and must cross compare the others I’ve had to the ones at this place!
We had a great lunch at the Bowery Bar! Service was great and the food was delicious. My husband and I tried their hummus plate, burger with tater tots, and fish tacos. They have a fun drink menu - we loved their “mi casa su casa” and spicy margarita. We sat outside in their patio and we were so surprised at how spacious and inviting it was, seeing that this restaurant is located in such a busy area in Dorchester. We can’t wait to go back and try out more from their menu!
I liked the vibe in this restaurant. I liked the fact that their kitchen was open until 11:00 pm. The waitress that served us was a professional but friendly person. We ordered fish and chips, steak and avocado bowl for our food, and espresso vodka and tequila for our drinks. I loved my steak bowl, however, I preferred adding some salt to my salad. The fish and chips was good. The portion of the food was enough and the price was fair. If you want to eat there, think about some time for parking.
Marissa on the bar has given the best service. Been coming here for the past 2 years and have you never been let down. The pumpkin espressos - amazing
this was my first time at the restaurant and food was delicious atmosphere was great! I’m celebrating my 30th and I am not disappointed!
Our first time here and everything was great! Food, atmosphere and server Anna were amazing.
Went here for a friend’s birthday brunch and had such a great time. The setting it laidback and cozy with great energy. The mimosa tower is a must if you have your friends for brunch. Most of us got a breakfast option but they had a large lunch selection as well. We all shared the cinnamon roll and the donuts, which if we had to pick one go with the donuts! The main dishes were all hot and extremely tasty. I recommend the hash which had a great spicy sauce that completely made the dish memorable! We are very excited to return in the summer when we can enjoy the outside space!
The hostess was pleasant upon entry. We requested a non hightop table and she immediately seated us in a somewhat quiet and warmer booth. Our wait staff Taryn was friendly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed! We enjoyed out baked haddock and tuna poke bowl! I highly recommend the bowl. It was bursting with texture and flavor! We decided to spluge and get the strawberry shortcake 🤭 It was DELICIOUS!
The creator of this place can take a bow(ery). What a delightful spot! Fold-open windows, rustic belt-driven ceiling fans, and the food is great (which is important considering it's an eatery). Plenty of GF and non-meat options, a friendly staff to recommend things to you, and se really tasty drinks from the bar. The televisions are really out of place amongst the old charm, but overall a must-go!
If you ask any local, they’d probably recommend this place as a go to. We had a great time here and the food and drinks were pretty good. The wings and nacho platter really hit the spot. Other items we tried were the bolognese pasta, salmon tartare, and hot bird sandwich, all of which were great. The salmon tartare was surprisingly very good, I had no expectations as it usually isn’t a bar/tavern offering. The bolognese pasta was exceptional, not too much sauce where you have a puddle left over, it was just the right amount coating every strand of pasta. The bolognese sauce itself was good, nice balance and wasn’t too salty or oily. Overall Bowery Bar is definitely a hidden gem in my opinion. Especially the patio set up they have in the back. We rented one of the yurts (tent) and I was pleasantly surprised at the set up. It felt very cozy and is an intimate space for throwing a party. It can seat up to 8 people in the yurt. I will 100% be coming back to rent the yurt for dinner get togethers.
Update: I went back for brunch and ordered the Steak & Eggs Bowl. The steak was perfectly seasoned, the eggs were cheesy and fluffy and the Tabasco aioli was a great compliment to the dish. The hash browns were bland, but mixing them in with everything else sufficed. I plan to go back and order that again - Maybe sans the hashbrown. The Bowery Bar exceeded our expectations. As our first post quarantine dining experience, my wife and I were thrilled with the service, the food and the clear display of precautions The Bowery Bar has taken to keep people safe. The Hot Bird sandwich should NEVER be taken off the menu, is just spicy enough to tickle your taste buds without extinguishing them. The fries were hot & crispy, reminiscent of McDonald's fries fresh from the fryer. My wife had the Mexi-Cali Benny. She loved every bite. And the portion was plentiful - She took half of it home. This was a memorable experience. We'll be back.
The waitress could’ve been a little bit more friendlier, but the food was excellent the drinks were kicking, you could taste the alcohol, Definitely keep the water coming.
Caitlin was my waitress and she was awesome! She took care of my myself and my team. She made sure the food and drinks were on point and ensured we were all comfortable too! Definitely will come back and ask for her.
We’ve been here a few times and have always enjoyed it! Tasty food, good drinks, and wonderful service! Most recently we were helped by Lydia and she made us want to be regulars! We’ll definitely be back!
Gabbi was absolutely the Best ! Soo fun and accommodating! Attentive and kind! She’s a rare find in this industry! Hold on to her! We come regularly and she is hands down the most amazing!
Colleen was our waitstaff, bringing good food and energy to our meal. She was friendly, engaging, and made us feel welcomed. Definitely will go back for the food, the service, and the vibe.
We had such a great experience thanks to our waitress, Ashley. From the moment we sat down, she was welcoming, patient, and so genuinely kind. She anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask and made sure everything was perfect from drinks to dessert. Her upbeat personality and attention to detail truly made the meal special. If you’re coming here, definitely ask for Ashley — she’s a standout!
Anna P. Is one of the best servers in the industry!!!!! We had such an amazing time celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday! Anna went above and beyond paying attention to every detail. Offered refills to my son’s soda and brought our dessert for my friend with a candle without request! Great experience here! Food was delicious and service was amazing!!!!!
Anna was amazing!!! She was super attentive and has a great vibe, made our night out so smooth and peaceful. As a restaurant manager myself, I am very impressed with her service and wish her the best for in her future. Fantastic job Anna!
THE BEST PLACE EVER ! DRINKS ARE AMAZINGGGGGG!! The coconut margarita is so good. Nachos AMAZING! Thai chilli wings, I need the recipe cause those are bomb. I’ll be here again
It’s beautiful inside of here. Really liked the outside and it seemed like the perfect bar to be at on a cold winter night. We had the cinnamon bun bread pudding and it was very delicious and a big enough portion to share. Very good service.
Love the yurt! Maybe fall decor, although we got into the festive spirit. One Steak was too rare. More water. Great night otherwise, thank you!
Kristen was an amazing server! She was super friendly and very accommodating to our large group. She went above and beyond catering to our needs and I can’t wait to come back here again!
Jess was our server and was great. She had recommendations off the menu and provided a fun and exciting experience for our first time at the Bowery. Would recommended this to anyone and will definitely be revisiting (hopefully with Jess as our server)!
I along with three of my besties went to have lunch at the Bowery bar on Friday. This was my first time there and we sat in the patio area and the atmosphere was so beautiful. A server named Natalie was phenomenal! Her personality, wonderful and she took very good care of us. The food was outstanding and we all loved it and decided we will be going back again. Thank you again, Natalie for your outstanding service and making our first visit comfortable for us.
Reserved a yurt a few weeks ago. Been in town for a few days and this experience and food has been the best. Emma M was our server this evening and she was attentive. All of the food was delicious, chef's kiss. Ordered: French onion soup, cauliflower, blackened chicken Alfredo pasta, steak bites and cinnamon roll bread pudding; I recommend it all!!!
We reserved a heated yurt for Christmas eve to escape the norm, sadly it was freezing in the yurt and the time between visits from the waitress were lengthy understanding she has to leave the building to come see if where ok but between the temperature and gaps in service I wouldn't recommend this for the cold seasons, the pitch of margaritas was 75 dollars and had zero alcohol in it, the food was average not anything worth writing about, again this review is based solely on the outdoor yurt experience. I know what everyone's gonna say its December in boston but the add said the yurt was headted we couldn't take take our jackets off to eat not the experience I was hoping for.
Nice spot in Dorchester on Dorchester Avenue. Large windows, dim lighting, nice ambience probably a hotspot in the summer because they have a patio. Service was friendly.. I had a beet salad with steak added to it. It would’ve been perfect if it didn’t have so much dressing on it it was way too wet and sweet. My friend had the wings they were awesome. other folks around the bar were ordering the burgers also nachos, which looked really good. The presentation of the espresso martini looked and tasted spectacular.!
Food is good, drinks are great, staff is phenomenal...but the music is atrociously repetitive. Stop torturing the patrons and staff. Please change the playlist and get touch tunes or something.
One of the most unique experiences of private Yurt. I loved the concept and the staff amicably allowed us to decorate it for a birthday. Highly recommended for groups of 8-10 for a private experience. Please be aware that for a Yurt experience, you need to have a minimum bill for the table. One suggestion to the restaurant is to include more items in the menu. Great place and I’ll definitely visit again!
I parked in the CVS parking lot which is a short walk ( 1 block ). There are signs indicating your vehicle can be towed, however, when I returned my car was still in the same parking spot. The CVS parking lot is huge. I had no reservations and was seated within minutes upon my arrival. The establishment was quiet for Patriots day. My adult beverage was strong. Appetizers were good and my entree was the fish n chips. The fish and truffle fries( I requested truffle ) were fresh and yummy. The fish wasn’t over saturated with batter so I believe I got my money worth of haddock fish. Customer service was good. My waitress constantly checked on my table. Overall, I had a good time and will visit again.
We started with the nachos and they were so good!! My friend got the Ahi Tuna Salad and she loved it. She thought it was delicious! I got the Hot Bird, the chicken was moist and tender. However, I thought the Honey Hot sauce was going to be all over the chicken. The chicken needed way more sauce because there was barely any on it. The fries were on point! I was pleased with the the customer service and the ambiance of the place. I would come here again and try something else, they did have good options on the menu. Came here again 7/22/22 and the food was 5 stars this time. The street corn dip was delicious and so was the hot wings appetizer.
Nice local bar, with great food. This is the type of place you can have a meaningful conversation with a total stranger. Updated 12/24/2023 Highly recommend brunch! Place is still solid! Updated 6/26/2025 The fish and chips here is a total rip off. $24 for one piece of fish. I'd only come back for the breakfast.
Great service, fresh food and good drinks. The fish batter wasn’t seasoned and sort of just meh. The crispy chicken sandwhich my partner loved tho! Nachos were delicious / I would return and try something outside of the fish and chips.
The atmosphere is good and has a surprising amount of seating. They have a great bar, good sit down area and a outdoor patio. The beer list is great with local and not local craft brews. I feel at this point unless the bar specializes in having dads blue ribbon only....if the place doesnt have a good beer list its a pass for me. Every time I have been there has been at least a few new beers on the menu which I can appreciate. The food is good and the apps are great. Service is also really good which makes it a nice neighborhood bar.
I'd come back for the huge outdoor patio and the apps probably not dinner. The nachos were actually quite good and filling. The dinner items were a bit of a letdown. The shrimp poboy and vegetarian pasta dish were really meh. The chicken wings were good, but definitely not great. Drinks were alright. I'd probably just come back here for beers. I think this is a great sports bar/great outdoor space vibes spot, but the food is not really anything to write home about
The service was great the mini tuna tacos were not that great. The tacos were too saturated by the sauce my brother said. The kale and berry salad was ok. The blackened fish tacos were ok a little bland then I added too much black pepper. The establishment was very clean and waiter was nice.
I recommend going during the warmer months because the back seating area feels like a cute, little oasis. The place itself is huge, though, so it was not hard to get a table despite it being busy when I went. I ordered the crab rangoon dip, blackened fish tacos, lobster roll, and a cocktail. The crab rangoon dip came out hot and was filling. The dip was very creamy and heavy. The fried wontons were a bit too oily. The fish tacos tasted okay but could have been crispier. The lobster roll was good. Lots of lobster. I wish the bun had been more buttery. The fries were meh. The cocktail was mostly ice.
Definite Pros and Cons to this place The pros: The outside eating space behind the restaurant. It is open air with Edison lights all around and old barrel tables. A nice atmosphere. Another pro and food recommendation would be the guacamole, it was addictively good. Cons: My biggest con was the main meal. I was not impressed with their tacos, they tasted rather bland like corn tortillas and you can absolutely find better in the city. They looked beautiful though. Servers were friendly but the restaurant itself can get a bit loud and crowded. Overall I don't think the cost reflects the quality of the food. But if you were interested in some guacamole and chips while having a drink out back in the evening under the lights, I'd say it would be nice. This place is along Dot Ave with indoor and outdoor seating. Its location makes it easy to find street parking, either up by the CVS or Dorchester park. It is a nice area to walk around with small shops, churches, the park, the Neponset trail and the old chocolate factory.
Great service for our 20+ friends showing up impromptu. Drinks are good, but sadly for me, their top shelf Vodka is Tito's. Food was average
Went last night with a friend asked to sit at the bar was told yes just for there to be no seats which was fine .. I ordered a lemonade which taste disgusting i only took to sips.. I asked for steak tips medium rare and they came out bunt with a crisp .. the plate is $30 . So witjbthe burnt steak i got a scoop of mashed potato soup idk and the skinny strings of asparagus.. I've been in thr bathroom since I came.. I would not recommend eatingvthere steak tip plate ..
Two stars for atmosphere because the place was cold. The temperature outside was about 33. I asked about the heat, but the server gave a lame cover-up excuse. Of course that made us want to leave asap. Food: Haven't been here in a couple years, I go to many pubs across the Boston-Cambridge area. Dowry's brafts are 50 cents to a dollar more than other pubs. Why? I had soup / grilled cheese. The soup was tasty but a small portion. There was a thin layer of cheese in the sandwich - very unlike most restaurant grilled cheeses. The bread was thick. And tasty. But not worth the $16, won't get it again (not that I'll be back). My friend had the Reuben Sandwich, also meager portion. The fries are blah. The P.E.I. mussels were tasty but also a small portion for $18. And they weren't the large mussels that are equated with PEI. This place is over priced and skimping on the food. The service was fine - professional, polite, amiable.
I’m really disappointed with how Bowery Bar handled our situation. We had booked a Yurt for my friend’s birthday on December 13th, and a few days beforehand several of us came down sick. So not only did she have to miss out on celebrating her own birthday, but she also ended up losing the deposit on top of it. We called on December 11th to cancel—just barely past their 48-hour policy. I understand having guidelines, but I was genuinely surprised that there was no willingness to show any flexibility given the circumstances. We were trying to be considerate by not showing up sick and potentially exposing staff or other guests, but that didn’t seem to matter. For the sake of an hour, and in a situation where we were clearly trying to do the right thing, their response felt unnecessarily rigid. It definitely left a negative impression of their customer service. We won’t be returning, especially when there are plenty of other places in the city that offer similar yurt experiences and treat customers with more understanding.
I had a reservation for the Yurts on Saturday, December 13th. Unfortunately, most of the people in my group became sick Wednesday into Thursday. Wanting to be responsible and avoid exposing staff or other guests to something contagious, I called on Thursday, December 11th to cancel. The restaurant has a 48-hour cancellation policy, which I completely understand. However, I missed that window by only one hour. Despite the circumstances and the fact that we were trying to do the right thing by not showing up sick, the restaurant refused to refund the deposit. Policies are important, but so is flexibility and consideration for situations involving public health. It’s disappointing that, even with such a small timing difference—and with the intention of protecting others—the restaurant was unwilling to make an exception. I don’t think keeping the deposit in this case is fair, and it left me with a negative impression of their customer service.
I moved to the area like 2 months before it opened and we went all the time for years. We moved away 2 years ago and happened to be back in town for a minute so we swung by. My wife ordered her 'usual', fish and chips. It was only like 40% breaded. Weird, but maybe the chef was new to the concept and had never seen fried food before. We sent it back and got new. I ordered the hotbird because it was always the best chicken sandwich and I was pumped. I, however, actually had the opposite problem from my wife; when I bit into it, there was almost no chicken. It was genuinely so thin, it was like thick cut deli meat at the thickest, and just bread at the thinnest. It also smelled like wet dog, so I only ate a few bites and then couldn't handle it so I ate the fries. Then I was eating the coleslaw from my wife's plate and *that* was what smelled like wet dog! Their coleslaw had turned! Or was made by a dog! Which also explains the fish. I was glad to find out it was the slaw and not the chicken that smelled awful because I was worried I'd get really sick. Now, I'm only worried I'll get kinda sick! Plus, it was dumb expensive.
