A new find that’s well loved, so make a reservation at peak hours. The food is impeccable and the prices are very fair for the generous serving sizes. Buon appetite!
The restaurant is very good. They have a wide variety of option for vegetarian. Their pasta dishes are made from scratch and they were able to accommodate us with ample of vegetarian options. We had a waitress named Danielle, she was amazing. Really friendly and honest and easy to very sweet to my family. They have a lot of cocktails options and they were good. They also accommodate mocktails. Their ravioli options are amazing and their special had gnocchi which was awesome. They also serve gelato and they were great. I would highly recommend visit here during special occasions as it can get pricey. We had a wonderful time and rerun in the near future.
I came in about an hour before they closed and was seated immediately with great service. Food was excellent and so was the service. I started with the burrata appetizer, which was very good. I will say if you take a bite without the cheese it is a bit salty but other than that no complaints. For my entrée I had Linguine Veal Gioconda. I’m typically not a big fan of veal, but I would highly recommend this dish. The nuttiness of the goat cheese pairs very well with the sauce. I highly recommend coming here if you have not already.
We had dinner tonight at Anthony,s Cucina in Downingtown. The food never disappoints whether dining in or carry out. As in the traditional Italian meal, delicious strips of focaccia bread with garlic oil is served with our drinks. For dinner, I had Anthony’s Veal with shrimp. The veal was abundant and cut into small sections along with 7 large shrimp and cut tender asparagus served over fettuccini with a blush sauce. My wife had the Chicken Parmigiana with traditional red sauce over linguine. Both of our entrees included a salad (traditional or Caesar). The portions are large. This restaurant never disappoints! Hats off to the Chef and his team!
Definitely the best Italian place in Great service, great food, even when delivered. This is not your run of the mill pizza place. This is a high-end Italian restaurant that also sells your regular pizza place staples. We’ve eaten there and ordered out and the food is always fantastic. The pasta is homemade, and it’s very obvious when you eat it. Would highly recommend!
Our family was traveling through Downingtown and stopped for dinner at Anthony’s. What a gem! We enjoyed dining on the patio with amazing food and service. Jaqueline was very attentive and provided us with wonderful service. We had a memorable evening and would love to visit again if in the area.
We had the beautiful wine room upstairs for a party and the service to the food and the atmosphere where just perfect. Dani was our server and she was so attentive. Never been here before however highly recommend. Fresh pasta and sauces all homemade. Must try.
Some of the very best food on the area, period. Versatile setting and food options perfect for something casual (they have things like wings and burgers) or an elevated special occasion or date night (artisan pasta dishes and craft cocktails) . Portions are generous, service is great, food is fresh, menu is creative. A must visit!
Picked this restaurant to meet up with some friends halfway between Hershey and Philly, and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was! Our table ordered Fettuccine with Carbonara Chicken, Penne Vodka, Western Burger, Chicken Saltimbocca, Fried Calamari and seemingly the world’s largest aperol spritz. Food was great and our server was very prompt and kind. Made a reservation the day-of online just to make sure we could get a table since we were meeting friends, but I don’t think it would have been more than a 10-15 minute wait. Would love to come back in the summer when they have the patio open!
Even the fettuccine in the kids' meal is homemade. Everything is reasonably priced. Eggplant parmesan sandwich was the best I've ever had and I'm picky. Everything is remarkably fresh and even something as ubiquitous as cheesesteak hoagie has real flavor to it. The Portobello salad with the passion fruit dressing is satisfying and delicious. [Edit]: Eat in! The presentation is elevated and the atmosphere is clean yet rustic.
There is lots of seating inside and outside here. I enjoyed the appetizers and pizza. The guy serving us was super attentive. Can't go wrong with the clams and mussels for appetizers. Love the fresh baked breads. There is also a second floor for seating. Have to come back again sometime.
We went here an it's not bad. There aren't many gluten free options. They also don't serve Gluten-free pasta but, the Gluten-free entrées taste pretty good. I recommend the veal or chicken. They're both good. I hot the white wine with lemon sauce. Its very delish. Just on a random note, who ever hires the waitress has a "type" half of them are platinum blondes and the other half are Latina. Nothing wrong but, I couldn't help but notice the pattern. The chefs and bus boys are all dudes. Just an interesting detail. Oh and nice fireplace.
Wife and I enjoyed the authentic Italian cuisine and atmosphere. She got the lobster ravioli and I got the squid ink and lobster pasta. We got the brushchetta for an appetizer. The food was amazing! The service was great and the place was extremely clean. 5/5 would dine here again!
Excellent service, wine, and food. Not necessarily in that order :) My Veal Piccata was delicious, but everyone at the table was singing praises for their meals, too. From the Beef Carpaccio, to Orange Salad, to Penne in Vodka Sauce - everything was not only plentiful, but very flavorful. And memorable - we'll definitely be back again. Oh, and the cocktails that the ladies ordered were simple, but quite striking. I have to try one next time!
The battle for our new favorite local Italian restaurant has a new contender! We were very impressed with the ambience, the food, the staff and the overall experience we had at Anthony's. We will be back as soon as we can as often as we can. Thanks for a great Friday night out!
Great location in downtown Downingtown with it's own parking lot. This place offers true authentic Italian food, that also includes freshly made pasta, Italian cuisines, pizza and burgers. They have a full bar and the service was excellent. Their classic margarita was very good and my husband and other friends of ours seem to be fans of their Moscow mules. The seafood soup was excellent, filled with lots of shrimp, crab with old bay seasoning. Being from Maryland I appreciate the old bay taste! The chicken parmigiana was excellent and came with a huge piece of chicken. My husband had the veal parmigiana and said it was one of the best he's ever had. Desert was also phenomenal in presentation, taste and quantity. Our friends ordered the octopus appetizer whi h is pictured below and they said it was delicious. The place is a little small so I recommend getting there early, between 5 and 5:30. They also have an outdoor seating area that is kid-friendly with a bean bag toss. Also has a firepit and small waterfall. Only two things I recommend to improve overall customer experience is (1) that they have two restrooms instead of one; the restroom is extremely large and could be divided into two and decrease the amount of customers waiting in line. (2) The chairs we sat in were not very comfortable, however two other tables had black leather chairs which not only had a nice look to them but were also padded which would have been more comfortable then the wooden chairs we had. Despite my recommendations, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a authentic Italian meal with a pleasant atmosphere and modern decor. Prices were reasonable and we will definitely be visiting again!
Anthony's went above and beyond. We ordered a pasta with the truffle cream sauce, not knowing it had bacon bits in it. They made the sauce and pasta fresh, and comped us for the pasta. All throughout they were courteous, kind, and attentive. Bravo to Anthony's, it's nice to have a really upstanding restaurant in Downingtown.
The only thing I can say is wow. Drove out to Downingtown, and this place packs a punch. Finally shook the kids off our coat tails, and got a dat night in. Our drinks came and my wife's prosecco came out with a proper pour, was not half a glass it was legit, my Blue Moon very refreshing with a Orange. We ordered appetizers calamari, just the tubes came with marinara olives and banana hots, and a charcuterie board. I got the Shrimp Scampi excellent!! You can taste the freshness in their homemade pasta, my wife got Shrimp with bacon and pasta in a Vodka sauce . Enough to take home and have for dinner. We also got Gelato very good, for me it was Salted Carmel, and my wife Coconut. I must compliment Anthony's on thier service, they hustle, its's always leg day as the staff climbs the stairs up and down throughout their shifts.. the prices are incredible, and menu size is big. It makes you want to go back and try the pizza, the specialty sandwiches and many more. I think we found our new place. Thank you Anthony's.
November 2022 Excellent service, delicious food, and wonderful atmosphere. I've been here about a dozen times in the past few years and it's always been good. This visit I tried the barbecue chicken pizza and it was good but not the best barbecue chicken pizza I’ve had. The chicken parm with linguine was very tasty, but the chicken was extremely scant and the pasta was very minimal as well. I’ll call it about 4.5 stars overall for this visit, but it's 5 usually. And I think the regular pizza is much better than the barbecue chicken pizza here.
Excellent Italian restaurant in Downingtown PA. Modern building with plenty of parking. Outdoor sitting has a very nice fireplace. Two stories inside. Plus the bar. Our server was very attentive and pretty darn fast. The burrata appetizer was excellent. I had Bronzino fish as my main fish. Spectacular! Our friends ordered traditional Italian dishes. Everyone was praising the quality of homemade pasta and sauce. I would love to see more cool Italian coffe drinks like Affogato on the menu. Five stars! Highly recommended
The chicken marsala and chocolate cannoli were delicious. The wait staff was attentive but not overly so. The atmosphere was great. Really enjoyed my meal here.
Lovely little family owned establishment in my hometown! The food is handmade and yummy. The staff are friendly and kind. Knowledgeable of the menu. The decor is beautiful. Wonderful place to grab a bite overall! Pictured is linguine with rose sauce. My suggestion is any of their pasta dishes. If you’re tight this month, they have a build your own pasta for $16.50. The stuffed fig appetizer is also to die for. Sorry I forgot to take a pic before I took a bite- I couldn’t wait! It was perfectly presented before that! P.s. thank you to my server Alex from 6 pm on 04/01/24. She was wonderful, and offered me a warm welcome.
Great atmosphere, very hard working and friendly staff. Pizza is delicious so were the deserts. Definitely make a reservation if want outdoor seating over the weekend. Parking gets very crowded - can park across the street at Pat's. Would recommend!
All of the food was so delicious! The calamari and bruschetta were so tasty. The Caesar salads were fresh and the dressing was so good. I also ordered Danny's Signature Filet Mignon, Italian Style for my entree and it was amazing, the meat was cooked perfectly. Cocktails also yummy!
We booked Anthony's Cucina for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Excellent food, service was outstanding, and although we were from out of state, organizing the details was simple. Very accommodating and great communication. Highly recommend for your next occasion.
Was told about this place by a friend and I do not regret trying this one bit. It is a very clean restaurant with a friendly and attentive wait staff. The hostess and who I assume was the owner stopped by our table and made sure we were having a good time. It was nice to see the boss helping his employees out bussing tables and other random chores. The food was fantastic. I went there wanting to try the squid ink pasta but unfortunately it was not a special this evening but I did have and recommend the pear ravioli, it is a smaller portion and tastes almost like an apple pie in ravioli form. It is not overly sweet either it was balanced wonderfully. The chicken parmigiana was also amazing. So glad to have tried this place. Will definitely become a repeat customer.
Been coming here for a few years now, food is always excellent and staff friendly. Love the raviolis, every flavor!
Being Italian it was very authentic and extremely tasty and fresh. It’s so nice in these times to go to a restaurant that meets all likings. I appreciate all the work everyone puts into having a restaurant and it’s a great place to eat and relax. I will spread the word and go again. Thank You!
Wow, we had missed this place, but everyone else knew about it! Good wine selection with generous pours. Great apps and entrees. And just when I think I've had all the really good pizza, I find somewhere like Anthony's. We'll be back!
We dine here frequently and always enjoy our meal. Service is good, and the food is excellent. The wine and drink list, and specials are enticing as well. There's indoor and outdoor seating, with a recently expanded/updated outdoor area. Love it!!
It was my first time to Anthony's. I was very impressed with the diversity of the menu. I had the Pear Ravioli with butter & sage - Excellent! Tender ravioli with flavors that blended perfectly. My lunch companion had Anthony's Special salad - beautiful fresh vegetables and nice salmon. Danielle was prompt; courteous; and very helpful. I look forward to returning!
Came here for Valentine’s Day and had a very good experience! Even though it was extremely busy, the service didn’t miss a beat. We had Diego as our server, and he was fantastic—he really knows the menu and helped us pick out the perfect wine to go with our meal. Pro-tip: Definitely reserve a table ahead of time or you might not get in, it’s a popular spot for a reason!
We went there for dinner and it was Very busy for a Monday night. Our server Val still provided superior service even though it was a full house. She checked up on us a lot and was personable. We had a great experience because of her. The food was great and had very big portions for a reasonable price. Gelato was great too.
We ate there Oct.26 for a birthday party with about 30 other people. We were seated in the upstairs section which we found to be very cozy. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Both Danielle and Melanie went above and beyond expectations. I couldn't come close to counting how many times they went up and down the set of stairs to make sure we had a very pleasant experience. And always with a smile on their face.
We finally stopped by for our anniversary dinner after passing this place so many times and it was worth it! We were seated quickly despite the weekend crowd. Loved the fried calamari, Oysters Rockefeller, and chicken tenders. The custom pizza was just okay, but drinks were great and the warm, rustic vibe made it a great night. Too full for pasta and gelato this time, but definitely coming back for it! Recommended !!
The food was good, but I have two suggestions. First, please clean the menu; it was dirty. Second, consider hiring more staff, as sometimes there was only one server, and it took a long time to get their attention.
Delicious food, with homemade ingredients! Danielle was an awesome waitress. I lowered my review here after ordering delivery … I got chicken piccata which was great, but the pear goat cheese pizza was really odd. It was dry, and there were orange peels everywhere on the pizza. Please remove those, not sure why that was a culinary choice…
2023 edit** food was great again. We ordered the calamari appetizer which had toppings in a sampler style (very fun)! The crab/lobster ravioli was very flavorful. The carbonara was very reminiscent to an Alfredo dish, very heavy on the cheese but nonetheless delicious. Large portion entree plates that are well done is always a plus. THANKFULLY they removed the 30 page menu on a clipboard to a regular book menu! The upstairs was completely neglected this time around and they are persistent in keeping the horrid brown streak/a weird amount of inedible herbs on everyone’s plates. LAST NOTE: you can’t mark up a $25 dollar decoy for $75 when across the street there is a BYOB restaurant. I hope they consider going BYOB. Will still recommend people to come! It’s still one of the few decent restaurants in downingtown. ** Great Italian restaurant for the area! They have a massive menu with so many choices. I think their choice of putting the menu on a clipboard is just annoying. You’re flipping back and forth through 30 pages and it just honestly does not make any sense. We ordered the stuffed figs, prosciutto, and mascarpone app. As well as the Burrata and signature salad. I absolutely loved the apps! The figs were so delicious and creative! The salad sizes were perfect and so tasty! The other let down was the plating for the entrees. It was strange how they painted balsamic glaze on each plate and completely unnecessary. We ordered the penne with shrimp in vodka sauce. My boyfriend thought it was pretty greasy. The shrimp was hard to eat since it was shell on, so plan to break shrimp down with that dish. I ordered the spinach fettuccine which was also pretty greasy but otherwise very tasty! The mushroom risotto was the best entree but it did have whole herbs in it which again, unnecessary. I would come again and recommended others to come try the restaurant! These small details can easily be edited and I really hope they do.
Loved the atmosphere, servers were attentive and food was delicious. Tables just slightly on the smaller side, might be due to all the glass-wear (unused wine glasses etc) but overall nice selection of menu both food and beverage. Only had food no beverages, so cannot advise on bartending skills. Ambiance was very nice, liked the decor and also the fire outside. Would go again-make reservations as this appears to be a hot spot in Downingtown. Very crowded when we left, doorway hard to get out of as mob of people standing waiting for tables.
Excellent service with friendly staff, ample options to choose from food/drink menu, and it's pocket friendly. But do a reserved spot before coming in. It's crowded.
This is one of my favorite places to go for dinner. A bit pricey, and the service can be slow, however, it's a nice place to go if you're not in a rush. The food is well made and tasty. The atmosphere can be hit or miss depending on where you sit. Downstairs is busier and louder while upstairs seems nicer for having a relaxing night out. I definitely recommend this place for couples!
A buddy of mine told me this place was owned by legendary NBA player Carmelo Anthony. He was a favorite of mine so I got excited and decided to come here. Wore my Denver Nuggets anthony jersey and brought a pen and pad for an autograph in case he was there. Welp, I was disappointed and embarrassed to learn that he doesn’t actually own it. My buddy is an idiot or he was pranking me. Nonetheless I did enjoy eatiny here. Food was great and the service was super friendly and on top of it. I would go back.
Really disappointed. Service was terrible and my food was barely lukewarm. House salad is watery iceberg lettuce. We finally got our food and the server never came back once to check on us. Next time was when we wanted the check. My water glass was empty for 20 minutes. The attire of the staff does not match the ambiance they are trying to portray. Gym pants and hoodies. When we first entered nobody said hello and there was cleaning supplies on the front counter. Food was mediocre at best. Nope. Never again. Go to La Sponda or Pomodoro instead.
Went for dinner as a party of 10. Made the reservation well in advance, yet the two person table which was added next to the main table was rickety and not very comfortable. Pizza and starters were decent. But the fettuccine Alfredo which arrived after a long wait was quite bitter in taste. None of us were able to eat it. I didn't know that Alfredo pasta could taste bitter. Informed the waiter twice about this and she was like "Oh is that so!".. not even an offer to provide alternate food or any other consideration. Very disappointing experience.
First of all they have great food. But BEWARE. I went on line to there web sight and there small Stromboli was $10.25. I called and ordered. when i picked it up they charged me $15.50 I explained to the teenager that that I went on line and on the menu that the price was $10.25.She told me that was the old menu and prices went up and we haven't had time to change it. This is DECEPTIVE and a MISLEADING way to do business. How would you feel if you bought a used car over the phone for $10000.00 and when you went to pick it up and the price was now $12000.00 They are STEALING our money
I went to enjoy a nice NYE dinner with friends that turned into a total disaster. To start, our waitress completely forgot we were her table until 30 minutes after sitting. Drinks got ordered and we were promised bread that never came. Once our appetizer arrived (pictured below) it was cold and looked like it had already been half ate. When waiting for our food (that took over 2 hours to come to our table) I went to use the restroom. In the restroom I stepped in a gigantic hole in the floor (pictured below) and twisted my ankle. When asking for a manager to address the issues, the manager came and looked at us and walked away and sent a waitress to address the problem. Our server Jackie told me that I should not have been hurt because I was wearing sneakers AND the hole in the floor has always been there. Once the waitress “manager” came to speak with us she had only given us 50% off our bill after my sprained ankle and extremely horrible service. The fact I was dismissed because my ankle wasn’t broken should be illegal and they should be shut down from the extreme hazard that is in their restroom.
I ordered their ‘famous’ upside pie. Truly the worst pizza I have ever had. I have had better frozen pizza. I wish I had ordered Dominos. There was something wrong with the crust. It was very thin, greasy and hard as a rock. I threw the whole thing out.
We went here twice about a year ago and the service was dismal, we thought it was about time to give them another shot. We sat down outside, got delivered water and were told they would be back to order drinks. The place was 10% full(not busy) and 10 minutes later we still sat staring at a glass of water. We got up and left before someone even came back outiade. It's basics!! sit down, offer a drink and return to order food in a reasonable amount of time. If you can't even get that right, just don't even open your doors! We have tried and tried again, we won't be back.
It’s no secret Anthony’s is a fun spot in the area. It’s always busy and has a great location and atmosphere. The prices are in line for what you get. But over the years when I’ve scheduled important dinners or lunches they’ve failed to come through. The servers seemed stressed on our last visit and she even forgot to take my order at our table of seven. Collected the menus and started walking away. Then did not apologize when called back to take my order and seemed more stressed. The food overall lacked flavor for the whole table. Was asked if we wanted fresh Parmesan and after we said yes a clogged shaker was plunked down in the middle of the table. One might do better at Olive Garden? We ordered carbonara, eggplant Parmesan, Alfredo, linguine with clams and also mussels and we all shook that Parmesan shaker for a hope of flavor but the cheese wouldn’t come out. No salt on the table to redeem our meals but my husband flagged someone down and got some salt. It didn’t work. Half of us didn’t touch our food. No one ever asked why. But when the bill came we were informed the credit card reader was down. Leading to a scramble for cash among us to pay for a birthday dinner. So awkward. It was like a comedy really. The one person that ordered a burger in the group was happy. A burger in an Italian restaurant! So I think if you want to go out on the town and have some drinks and a light bite then it could work out for you. But keep important engagements for a better restaurant. Sorry. Not sorry.
With so many fantastic places to eat in the area I'm legitimately confused why this lacking establishment is successful. My husband made a 6.15 dinner reservation for my birthday last night. At 6.45 crammed awkwardly with many other waiting parties I asked the hostess how much longer we would be waiting. She looked at me like I was a complete idiot for asking and told me "when they have a table." Other patrons then started speaking up saying they were still waiting for 5.45 and 6.00 reservation times. The hostess then says, "so are you leaving then?" Yes. Yes we are. Thanks for a great birthday Anthony's. We went to Liones instead and it was 1,000 times better anyway.
