Opinions de The Wine Cellar at Fallon & Byrne Dublin
My husband and I visited The Wine Cellar last night to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, and it was one of the most attentive & authentic meals we've had in ages. From the very first moment, Des looked after us with such sincerity and kindness. We both travel for work and dine out regularly, and trust me when I say the warmth of Des and his team is truly world-class. My husband is Italian, and we both loved our food. We tried the truffle arancini which were delightful, the bolognese which was perfectly balanced, and the coppa which was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the most incredible rich marsala sauce. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu and agreed it was the best one we'd ever had - ever! Compliments to the chef! Another bonus is the amazing €1 corkage deal on Sun-Tues, where you can select a bottle from their extensive selection on the shelves. We were really impressed by some of the labels and vintages on offer. We will absolutely be back again, and will be highly recommending The Wine Cellar to our family and friends for a relaxing evening and perfect atmosphere. Thanks again to Des and the team for making our evening so lovely!
Everything about this establishment was exquisite. Lovely, vibrant atmosphere with the most attentive and loving staff. The seafood starter and the green olives were to die for, they were that delicious. Even my non olive loving friends loved them and we ended up ordering two bowls for our table. Wine on a slightly expensive side but you get some really good wines there. They also have vegan wine which the waiter was not able to explain what it means 😅. Would definitely visit again 🌟
We had a lovely lunch with my friend over there. Pizzas were so delicious and freshly made. We had some drinks and they were really good too, we had no problem with quality of food and drinks. But the waitress who served us seemed a bit off and having problems to give us proper information and care which was a bit disappointing. But apart from service food, drinks and ambiance were amazing, plus the place was really spotless and well looking. I absolutely plan coming back with my friends.
I went with my niece who lives in Dublin to Fallon & Byrne as she needed to buy some panettone and also, she wanted to show me around and I absolutely loved it. The place has a little bit of everything, fruits, different kind of cookies, breads, desserts, cheeses, wines, traditional Irish foods and a selection of foods from other countries as well. Everything is very well organized and makes you want to buy everything! As I went in November 2023, they also had wonderful options for Christmas, I even bought some traditional Irish cakes to bring home. They also have an area to eat something quick, like sandwiches, and a restaurant, which I will definitely have to go back to try it next time I am visiting Dublin. Actually, for anyone visiting Dublin, this place is well worth visiting to see the options of traditional Irish products they have, and it is right in the center of Dublin.
I always love photographing Fallon & Byrne weddings. I returned last week for a wedding reception and they exceeded all expectations. The space looked great and the food tasted great. Special mention to the dessert table, it took all my will power not to snag all the donuts. I can't wait to get back to Fallon & Byrne to photograph more weddings.
Fantastic spot! Amazing wine selection with just €1 corkage. Delicious Neapolitan pizzas, brilliant desserts, and great cheese boards for wine tasting. The service was exceptional—special thanks to the French waiter and manager who made us feel right at home. A must-visit in Dublin!
A hidden gem! The space is a great balance of cozy and stylish with retro artwork hanging throughout. We had delicious gluten free pizza, a lovely wine, and an overall great time. Desmond was kind to seat us, recommend the wine, and even snap a photo of our table. Will be coming back!
Well have been going here off and on for quite a few years now. I like the food which is quality casual. The wine is the jewel in it’s crown and it has a moderate choice of beer. It is only let down is that it can be quite noisey… but this does add to the athmosphere.
Fantastic service & great itlaian cuisine everytime. Expansive wine selection. Des is a 5 star, incredibly personable host every visit.
Love everything about The Wine Cellar. We were a group of 6 on a busy Saturday night and we had a brilliant time. Firstly the staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and really add to the experience. We had the set menu and it was superb. Lots of dishes and the mains selection was excellent. Thanks for a great evening!
Come here on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday when the corkage is €1 once you select a wine from their considerable stock. In our case we took a Chablis from the fridge. It was €31 with corkage the charge to us was €32 We had lunch yesterday. We ordered excellent scampi for €12. It was so good we ordered another portion. The focaccia was also very good. A beetroot salad for €12 also good. The pizza Diablo was that bit too spicy. Others in our group ordered pastas. I forgot to ask them what they thought Lovely olives. Fab cheeseboard. We all agreed we would return in a heartbeat. It’s a basement location. It lacked atmosphere at lunchtime. I think we were their only guests. At 6pm the restaurant started to fill up. Good & friendly service. A good value Dublin option
Excellent as always, such a gorgeous wine cellar with excellent food and service. Patricia in particular was superb. So friendly and attentive, great recommendations also. Would highly recommend for Christmas season or just generally - you'll never regret a meal there and service is always wonderful.
Great lunch here. They do €1 corkage on Mondays, so choose a bottle of something special and enjoy at retail cost. The food was good, the staff excellent. An especial word for Vitoria, who's friendly courtesy made the afternoon.
Had a gorgeous evening in Fallon and Byrne for Christmas catch-up with friends. We said how much a staple the wine cellar is, with great service as always. Patricia looked after us for the evening and was very personable, helping us chose between desserts. She was correct, the tiramisu is great and evident why it's so popular! Thank you!
The staff are amazing. Special mention to Kat, Marco and Des. They gave me a bar seat with very short notice while super busy. Really appreciated getting a seat here on a busy night. The wines I had were amazing!!!
Always bright and inviting, with staff who make you feel welcome immediately. It’s a great place to wander, browse or grab something small to enjoy. The atmosphere is lively but organised, making it a fun stop during a day out in the city centre.
I had a wonderful experience at Wine Cellar. The ragu pasta was delicious, and the service was exceptional. Vitoria was especially helpful and made the visit even better. Highly recommended!
Great afternoon over from Birmingham lunch with family and friends foods was great Patricia the waitress was amazing so friendly And constantly topping up our wine checking we had everything we needed .
A delicious and very classy place in the heart of Dublin. Staff was really friendly and food was very tasty!
Nice place for a cute dinner or a glass of wine and some food! There is a food hall upstairs and the wine cellar downstairs. Staff is kind and helpful as well.
Always an amazing experience. This place has such a great atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I’m always looking forward to coming back! Highly recommend it!
One of my fav spots in Dublin for Italian food & great wine. Got the basil pesto pizza and a whiskey sour , it was delicious. They have changed the menu as some of my go-to dishes from earlier are not on the menu anymore
Our first dinner in Ireland and the food was terrific! Such a nice place and relaxing.
My wife and I had the pleasure of celebrating Valentine's Day at The Wine Cellar at Fallon & Byrne, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped into the cozy, candlelit basement, we knew we were in for a memorable evening. The ambiance was intimate yet lively, striking the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. The exposed brick walls, soft lighting, and the extensive selection of wines surrounding us created an atmosphere that felt both refined and inviting. The wine list, as expected, was outstanding—carefully curated with an impressive variety to suit every palate. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, helping us select the perfect bottle to complement our meal. Their recommendations were spot on, and their attention to detail made us feel truly valued. As for the food, it was simply divine. Every dish was crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. From the artisanal cheese board to the perfectly cooked mains, each bite was a delight. What truly set the evening apart, however, was the service. The team was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed for a seamless dining experience. If you're looking for a charming spot for a romantic date night or just an exquisite wine and dining experience in Dublin, The Wine Cellar at Fallon & Byrne is an absolute must-visit. We left with full hearts and happy palates, already planning our next visit!
A great afternoon- arrived 13.30 and parted 17.00. Katrina looked after so well. Smiling, helpful, patient. and thinking ahead of what we needed. She’s the best!
Great evening at Fallon & Byrne Wine bar. Daniel looked after us with charm and efficiency. Des also an excellent waiter. Thank you.
Thanks Vittoria and Marek and all at F&B for an amazing meal and for looking after us so well this evening. We loved it! ❤️
We had a fantastic night celebrating my friend Laura’s birthday. The evening was made special by being looked after by Des. He was super friendly and attentative. I would highly recommend here and Des for the wonderful atmosphere and great food
Regularly visit the Wine Cellar and always have a great time. The team are all fantastic - always very friendly and efficient - especially Vitoria. Thanks!
Food excellent. Service excellent. Server Patricia a credit to the organisation.
Fabulous food and service. Daniel was so friendly and attentive, fantastic waiter.
Great selection of wines , amazing service , lovely atmosphere and pizza is fantastic!
Lovely warm welcome … great food …. And lovely ambiance … great piped music … Des & Daniel made us feel very welcome
What a night. Rocked up without a booking to a packed house. Was greeted by Des who immediately picked we must have just of flown in from somewhere. He rummaged around the place looking to put a together a table for our party of four. We ordered a fantastic bottle of red on his recommendation, pizza, the works charcuterie board, olives and some super fresh focaccia. Sensational experience which would have been nothing had Des not gone out of his way to sort us out. So refreshing to see someone so passionate about their role. We should have more people like him in hospitality.
Great Italian food and amazing selection of wine from different countries and of different styles. Food is delicious. Price for such marvelous quality is super great 👍 Update from December 2022: Something has changed - before it was a 5 star experience for us: great food, knowledgeable staff, amazing wine. Yesterday we got a bit disappointed - were waiting for our mains for more than an hour, pasta was not cooked in an Italian style way - not enough flavor, just plain boiled pasta, a bit of cream added. Therefore, downgrading to 4 stars.
We tried the Portuguese Wine & Cheese Experience and really enjoyed it — great wine, lovely cheese, and a nice buzz in the place. Only downside was the wine being dropped off without any explanation , which took a bit away from the “experience.” Stayed for diner after and it was delicious.
First time at The Wine Cellar and Daniel Mich was such an angel! We had a great business meeting and Daniel made us feel very welcome. Thanks for the hospitality
Lovely food either a great wine collection. Staff were friendly and attentive. A good atmosphere with lovely lighting made it feel warm and romantic. However, compared to other Italian restaurants, at a similar standard, it was a little on the pricey side.
You can find anything from vegetarian foods to cured meat, herbal tea to truffle or biscuits ,homemade bread or pastry to artisan sandwich, sauce and spices , exotic fruits and vegetable to organic dairy … and list goes on and on. It is nice even to look around just for window shopping. Lovely vibe of a coffee shop, it has also have seats outside which is amazing in a dry days. You might book upstairs for special occasions .
We booked a table for 3 people for a birthday meal in the Wine Cellar. When we arrived, our server was not friendly. We ordered 3 cocktails to begin with to eat with our starter and whilst chatting. The starter came, and the cocktails were nowhere to be seen. We had to remind them and then were told that the bar was busy. The cocktails were brought after the main meal was served, which was jarring. The table was not cleared before our main course arrived. Our main was served, and then we had to ask and wait for a few minutes for fresh cutlery to be brought. So we sat with our mains course and no cutlery. Our water was not topped up at any point. They didn't come and check at any point whether we were OK or if we required anything. The food, we will say, was beautiful. We ordered arancini for starter, which was very nice. We ordered pizza, the ragu and the linguine, and all three courses were so tasty and very well prepared. The 3 stars were entirely for the food, but the service was awful.
Atmosphere and ambiance of the place was great! Waiters seem to be in a rush all the time and our waiter seems to have had a really bad day and looked like she wanted to be elsewhere…. The food was great but very little for what you are paying. This place unfortunately is not a good value especially when you have other amazing Italian places in town that are better in flavours and texture and cheaper as well. The bolognese pasta tasted ok but again it lacked flavours in the ragu. A ragu should be a concentrated and packed in flavours and punch however this one was bland. The other pasta dish was alright, fresh pasta and very well cooked pancetta however it was still tasteless. The starter shrimps scampi was really good though, it was fresh and unbelievably crispy and the pizza dough was so fluffy and light (the nduja one was so tasty)!
The place is nice, the food and the wine were lovely, but the service was not. Our waitress was rude and antipathetic without any reason, it seems that she was not in the mood to work that night, what made the experience not as nice as it could have been.
If they wanted the table back within an hour and a 1/2, by all means say it when you book it other than that, that is the problem. I have most restaurants say if you book it at 6. They want the table back by 9, but this, crowd seemed to book the table, and then after an hour and a 1/2. Tell you how we want the table. So next time on people book states that you want the table back within an hour and a 1/2.If so I think we will book somewhere else
Food was good, we had Padron peppers and smoked almonds to start and the featherblade steak as our main course. The big let down was the wine. We asked the waiter for the house red. It was thirty eight quid! He said it was quite light and it might be worth spending another few euros to get something with a little more body. €38 is a lot for a bottle of wine, especially if the staff aren't exactly endorsing it.
Had dinner for two on Sunday. Ordered two pasta mains. A carbonara of sorts dish which was bland and watery on the plate and the ragu dish was like having minced Irish stew with pasta. Starter dishes of padron peppers and side of wedges were good. Disappointing overall. Service was attentive but expected better from what should have been uncomplicated dishes.
We had a table for six people on the 28th of December 2025 at 17:00, i recommended the place to my friends because I had been there two weeks before and had a positive experience, however, this time we had the worst experience with the staff - first we were served by a rude male waiter who did not come back with our order and after a few minutes we asked for help and got another female waiter who basically was shouting at us all evening she was very loud and behave like she own the place. I was trying to impress our friends who came from France and I was feeling embarrassed by this experience. Change the staff please, overall the food was great.
