Opinions de Amici's East Coast Pizzeria Dulin
I'm typically a deep dish Green Lantern guy, but Amici's has opened my eyes to a well crafted round pizza! That coupled with first rate drinks and a killer happy hour; I have a new favorite place!
Very unique place. Pizzas are very good and many not traditional. Still have your basic peps and cheese pizzas but the showstoppers are the more unique pies like the Caribbean Jerk, Thai Chicken, etc. The outdoor patio is a bit of a hidden gem and very unsuspecting but it’s packed in warmer months and even in winter when enclosed. Get there early or you will wait. Drinks are fantastic as well. I was worried when new ownership took over a few years ago because Amici’s was already a good spot, but the new group took this to another new level.
The gluten free pizza is the new champ for me best gluten free pizza i have ever had , prior champion was cloverleaf. Every staff member here gave service as if they owned the place, i have never experienced such a warm and welcoming environment.
Updated review: I will start out by saying that the owner Tim deeply cares for this restaurant and went above and beyond to give us a better experience our second time around. The waitstaff was even more incredible and attentive than last time. The pizza and cheese bread both had a golden brown and crispy crust. The pizza was very flavorful and the Calabrian chili cheese bread was 10/10. Glad that we gave this place a second chance.
We mainly do take out here because our kids are picky with menus but my husband and I love their pizza & their chicken sandwich! The times that we have dined in, we sit on the back patio, enjoy the music and have a drink! Great atmosphere and date night!
I’ve been coming to Amici’s for years with family and friends. I even have friends coming from afar now because they love it so much. The atmosphere is super cozy. The staff always attentive. Food and drinks are always top notch!! Ordered a carryout last night and have zero complaints. Even the carryout staff was great! It was the perfect way to make what was a crappy day better :).
First time here last night! We loved it. Funny enough bc we walked past this place last week and said it was cute and wanted to try it. Pizza was amazing.. and huge. I had the Artichoke and added blackened chicken and love the option of a WHEAT crust. It was phenomenal! The small had 8 slices. I could barely eat 4 lol.My husband LOVVEEDDD the Vegan Pesto pizza. So great that u have that option with no cheese bc he is not a cheese fan. The martini is had was so good... the tito temptation! Andddd Joshua was our server and he did a great job. Super friendly and kept trying to convince me to order another drink lol. We have found our new spot... and Definitely taking advantage of the half off the first hour.
Amici's is one of my favorite pizza take out options. I appreciate that they have gluten free pizza options and their salads are great! We ordered the Spinach salad and paired it with a GF Campania Pizza and GF Pep In Your Step Pizza. It was more than enough food for two people and the leftovers the next day were fantastic. For the Campania Pizza, who new broccoli on pizza could be amazing?! Looking forward to trying other menu items on my next take-out order.
As a Detroit Style Pizza lover, the only round pie I’ll eat is from Amici’s Kitchen and Living Room. Ingredients from both their pizza and extensive cocktail list are fresh and inventive, and has made my partner and I dine in 4 times in the last 6 weeks! Appetizer: [Pictured] Do not sleep on the Guac! Super fresh and vibrant! The Fresno chilis and pepitas add complexity to what is normally a simple dish. Salads: - [Pictured] The Beet Salad has been a repeat order. It is a light salad, perfect before a heavy pizza, with bites of warm and sweet goat cheese. - The Amici: An antipasto salad with a personality. It’s all about the crispy pepperoni. Pizza: With all of these pizzas being a 10/10, here is a list of my favorites in order. - The Arvant: A Greek salad on a pizza. - [Pictured] Stellar Blue: Sweet, spicy, and creamy. - Shrooms and Grass: A funky vegetarian pizza even an adventurous carnivore would love. Normalize asparagus on pizza! - Campania: Complex flavor combination with different textures in every bite and spice sprinkled throughout. Service is quick, friendly, and attentive. The Daily Specials are unbeatable. The vibe is “community.” We are thrilled to have visited this gem, and will continue to be dinner guests!
We used to frequent Amici's a lot when we lived locally, but still make a point to come and eat here a couple times a year. The pizzas are really good and the unique drinks are a must! The outdoor covered seating out back is great, but eating inside is nice too for the atmosphere.
Really great, cute spot for good, unique pizzas and great cocktail menu. The vibe of this place is really cool, and the most recent time I went they were playing an amazing playlist of early 2000s rock. My favorite pizza is the Emilia pictured here. All of the ingredients work so well together and it reheats really well - so get the large!
"Absolutely outstanding experience at Amici's Kitchen! From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch, attentive, and friendly. The food was delicious, bursting with flavor and served promptly. This was our first visit, but it certainly won't be our last. We can't wait to return, especially to enjoy the patio seating when spring rolls around. Highly recommend!"
WOW!!! Just wow! Yesterday was my first visit. I already know I will be a regular. The house gin and tonic is scrumptious and refreshing. The tonic is infused on-site to utter perfection. The pizza selections are unique and pure genius. The gluten-free crust is on point. I ordered the BBQ shrimp pizza and it delivered! Absolutely yummy with a nice kick of heat. Lindsey, our server, was upbeat and delightful. Truly fantastic place. Looking forward to my next visit.
Really good pizza!!! I ordered the roasted red pepper and a Rosemary Gin drink which was fantastic! The staff was super friendly and they were keeping a safe distance while wearing 😷. Crazy times! The staff was doing a fantastic job cleaning down the tables after everybody left. The patio was super cute. First time here and I was extremely happy with my visit. I will definitely come back.
Amicis is actually a cozy spot to get a drink and have a pizza. You might even find someone wearing a sport jacket to this pizza place. Can pizza be elegant? Nah! Not happening. When you glance at the kitchen it’s flour, sauce, and entropy!! The pizza is good, but salty and they have some misses notably the bbq pizza. The best one is the portobello mushroom pizza. They do well with specialty pizzas but when it comes to the basics you might as well go to hungry Howie’a.
My original review is below at the bottom of this long post, but I felt I had to respond to the owner's comments. Just to clarify, at no time did I ask for compensation, and at this point have still not had a response to my email to the owner of this restaurant. What I did say what that before I left the bad review that this experience deserved, I would like to hear from the restaurant, as I really don't like to leave bad reviews. I can only conclude that not only did I get charged a significant amount of money for 2 pizzas that arrived ice cold after a 2-hour wait, the owner really does not find that to be a problem. My email is below, followed by my original review. I think my email was pretty damn polite considering the situation. You can judge for yourself: Original email: ""Wed, Nov 26, 10:05 PM (9 days ago) to tkenrick Hi Tim, My wife was looking for a good vegan pizza, and saw the review for your place. We live in Royal Oak in the 13/Main area. We ordered 2 small pizzas, one vegan, one regular for delivery at 7:53 and given a delivery time of 8:55 which was a long time, but OK. After the delivery estimate was pushed back twice my wife called the delivery driver who was finally getting to us. The pizzas finally arrived at 9:46 - one hour and fifty-three minutes after the were ordered, and they were ice cold. Not even remotely warm. The driver apologized and said that he had been given 3 orders with 30 items, whatever that means. He was nice and apologetic. My wife threw her pizza in the oven, I had mine cold, as I really can't stand overcooked reheated pizza. She liked her pizza, mine was OK, but I can't really judge it cold, or reheated so I am reserving judgment. I also haven't reviewed you on yelp and google as I usually do, and that is only because you put your actual email address on your web site, which I appreciate. My actual email is below. I'm reserving judgment for the moment... as I don't really want to rate your pizza without eating it in proper form. I just wanted to let you know how ridiculous this was. I think you either need to control your delivery process, or go pickup only, because this is going to really damage your reputation if it happens repeatedly - just speaking as a pizza addict. I'm pretty forgiving, and tend to just not review places that suck, but an hour late and ice cold is just too much."" Original review: We ordered 2 pizzas for delivery, direct from the restaurant, 3 days ago. We were given a delivery estimate of slightly under 1 hour. When the pizzas did not show up after an hour, my wife was able to track them on the delivery app that had been provided, and saw that they appeared to have been driven within less than a block from our house to a Meijer store several miles past us. When they arrived, 2 hours had passed, and the pizzas were ice cold - room temperature in a cold car - I would estimate about 50-60 degrees. The delivery driver apologized and explained that he had been given an order with 30 items to pick up at Meijer before our order could be delivered. We did not order any items from Meijer.... I can't comment on the quality of the pizzas because they were fridge cold. Not bad for fridge pizza, but not what we paid for. Here's the disturbing part. I immediately emailed the owner of the restaurant (listed on their web site) and explained the situation. I did not want to have to leave a one-star review as my habit is generally to just not review bad places unless they are REALLY bad, but I thought that this situation deserved a chance for the restaurant to explain and try to fix it. No response, so here's my one-star review. IMO, giving your orders to a doordash driver instead or your own driver is lazy and cheap. With 2 small pizzas over $40, it's not like they are giving the food away. Disappointed. Just to be completely clear here, I stand behind everything I wrote in the email and in the review. It is 100% as it happened.
