Been here twice now for take-out. Always pleased. Their pho is great. Banh mi is great for the price ($8). A great casual lunch spot.
Pho Fever Bistro in West LA & Pho Thanh Huong in Las Vegas spoiled me. So, when I got the #7 today, I was a little surprised how few noodles I got & the amount of brisket was in the take out container. However, I know that inflation is making it tough on restaurants & frankly, I don’t know why take out doesn’t have an extra $1 surcharge for the extra styrofoam containers & wrapping is needed to make sure the pho is piping hot by the time it gets to your home. Also, the broth was good and the brisket was perfect. I just wish there were more noodles & meat as I whined about above. 👆 I’ll definitely order again when I know I want mainly broth (which they gave plenty) & not starving or need to not eat too much bc I know I’m going to have a big dinner. Also there wasn’t tons of msg. Just a little. Some places put so much I get a headache. Oh, I forgot, but the price was amazing. Maybe that’s why the lack of noodles and meat. $14’ish vs down the street at 888 where it’s at least $4 more for the same bowl. It was a solid bowl 🥣 & it looks like it’s run by a small family. Support these small family businesses. We need more of them! And thanks young girl who is probably pressured to work there. She gave me extra lime with no guilt. I remember when I had to work at my parents’ grocery stores. Not fun.
Warning for dine in: tips are cash only. We ordered the pan-fried pork dumplings, shrimp spring rolls, grilled shrimp vermicelli and the grilled chicken and egg roll vermicelli, and Vietnamese iced coffee. My friend had never had any if these before and loved it. I've been here a few times already and got take away. Take away has an option to tip.
Always great service here, day and evening. Their Chicken Curry Stir Fry with Brown Rice was EXCELLENT!! Nice and spicy 🌶 I recently tried the Kung Pao Chicken and Pork Dumplings, and can say that everything I've tried so far tastes great! They know how to bring out the flavors of each sauce without drowning the plate. 🤌
Yum! This place is delicious. I got delivery and they packaged it well. The beef Buddha's Delight was full of veggies and high quality steak. It easily made 2 meals. I love that it wasn't too sweet. I got it on vermicelli noodles and it was like a regular vermicelli bowl on steroids. It was so amazing. And then the spring rolls! I got the pork spring rolls and they were the most delicious thing ever. They were slightly greasy in a really good way. This made them super tasty and super delicious. You could totally make those a meal. I can't wait to actually go in soon!
Awesome place for some good Vietnamese food with generous portions! This is definitely one of my favorite spots to get some stir-fry. They have the usual appetizers and entrees like gyoza, sprouts, and stir fry. Their Pho is really good, and you can add on veggies like Broccoli and Carrots that go well with the broth. They offer stir-fry with different flavor profiles to choose from, and you have a choice of Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, or combination for protein. I'm not sure what it's called, but the #96 is one of my favorite dishes here. It contains thick, pan-fried flat noodles that are crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. They're stir fried with an assortment of veggies and meats in a house sauce. They also have a happy hour most days that knocks off a dollar or two from their beer. The service here has always been great. Definitely recommend stopping by!
Everytime I go in when this one teenage girl is working it just sucks! She has horrible customer service, as she was taking my order she thought it would be a good idea to pull her phone out and send a text to somebody, she was in charge of making my drinks and everytime either there is chuncks of ice in my smoothie or barely any boba I’m not sure if they’re instructed to put that much but whenever I go in when anybody else is working, I have no problems, and then what topped it off was when she was bringing the food and drinks out, whenever I clearly had my hand out to for her to give it to me she placed it right next to me on the table and walked away, I will be back because it’s a good place to eat, but whenever I see her, I’m turning around and walking out.
Rating: 3.8/5 [delivery] Grilled Pork Banh Mi ($9.14): The French bread was actually really good, tasty, and perfectly toasted. The butter helped elevate this sandwich. Pate was there but more subtle. Grilled pork flavors were not bad. Spicy Beef Noodle Soup ($14.95): This does not taste like Bun Bo Hue and lacked the satay, lemongrass, and shrimp paste flavors. It also did not come with banana blossoms. The broth is spicy but lacks depth of flavor, even after I squeezed in the whole lime. I did not like the broth at the beginning but it grew on me as I sipped on it more. Two Egg Rolls ($6.90): These tasted good and were crispy. The egg rolls were stuffed with pork, shrimp, mushroom, and veggies which were balanced in portion and taste. The sweet and sour dipping sauce was okay. Two Pork and Shrimp Spring Rolls ($6.90): Not good. There was too much vermicelli noodle, and the spring rolls did not taste very fresh. The pork and shrimp were dry as well.
They have some fairly good pho, though I found myself preferring the dumplings and wontons. The brisket and steak wasn’t the best, but certainly pretty good. They give good portions and are accommodating for tweaks you might want. They provided us with extra jalapeños and hot oil. I’d be curious to try the chicken pho here as well at some point. No complaints, just not the best I’ve had. P.S. They incorporate tip into the bill by adding a 12% service fee, so don’t worry about tipping.
Delicious food and always fresh. Some items are really among the best Vietnamese dishes in Austin. East of I-35 there is a dearth of good restaurants so trips to Hai Ky are highly anticipated. I stick with the dumplings, noodles and vermicelli bowls. Great choices abound and the varieties rarely disappoint. The service is friendly and the parking is plenty. The prices are affordable and the portions are large.
Update: I know prices are high everywhere but 😲 WOW 😳. I ordered 3 soups, eggrolls & it was over $70. That would be fine if it was a better quality establishment. Nothing bad, but nothing great. It doesn't help that ingredients & drinks are also stacked up next to tables. Also, the person on the phone had a bit of an attitude. My original review said, "good prices, friendly service" not anymore. Old review: (Friendly service.. Good food, at good prices..) We have only picked up our orders so we are not sure about dine in services. But they have always been nice when we have gone to pick up food and they have good hours. Unfortunately will Not be going back, after last experience. To everyone, take care enjoy your food!
I went here for lunch on a Tuesday. Very busy but not much of a wait for a seat. The spring rolls and peanut dipping sauce were basic. The peanut sauce was very watery & diluted, not a lot of flavor. The broth in my pho ga tasted good. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable but I would not go back again.
Combo thai yellow curry had about 3 pieces of beef, no chicken and 2 shrimp. The "fried rice" is just their steamed rice that has a very light brown tinge to it with nothing else added (veggies, egg or flavor). Food was very overcooked and seemed to have been double fried to order. Not trying to be harsh, but this was really a bad experience for how much we paid for this. 2 stars instead of 1 as the food was not cold but at a proper temp and packaging was smart with foil and steam holes.
Ordered a banh mi sandwich to go. I unwrapped in the restaurant to put on some chili sauce and it had maybe four small pieces of meat on the entire sandwich. I won't be returning.
