Opinions de Lucy's Fried Chicken Austin
Great place for fried chicken and appetizers, among other tasty options. The chicken and waffles was top notch!!!
Working with Cristina, owner of Lucy’s, was an absolute pleasure! She is knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly easy to work with. The pricing was also excellent—especially for the quality and care she delivers. The food was delicious, and we truly appreciated her willingness to collaborate with us to create custom dishes that beautifully blended our Tex-Mex and Creole backgrounds. On the day of the reception, her staff and bartenders were just as wonderful—sweet, energetic, and a perfect match for our guests’ vibe. We couldn’t have asked for a better catering experience for our wedding. Thank you!
The chicken is always good. We tried their oysters and was also liking those. Our service has been the same guy twice in a row (Drew?) and always leaves us to our privacy and comes when he sees we need drinks. Recommend this hidden gem!
We've been regulars at Lucy's for years now, it has never disappointed. If anything, it has gotten better. First of all, the chicken is phenomenal. The crust is just the right amount of crispy. We always get a bucket even if it is just the two of us. Cold or warmed up leftovers is just fine for us. We are true aficionados of the finest fried chicken. Now, that is just the beginning. Where Lucy's truly excels is in the side offerings. Of course they have a wonderful fried okra, but it's even better when it is paired with the coleslaw. Lastly, if you have any room left for dessert? Just do it. Remember, you can always take it home if you can't finish. Either way, you win!
Multiple items on the menu are amazing. I’ve come here a bunch of times before, but never left a review. Today I ordered the Kinky Club and I absolutely loved it. It’s a large sandwich with a side of kettle chips, which I switched for fries. I could only eat about half of the food, but I’m looking forward to finishing it up tomorrow for lunch.
If you are ever in south Austin, stop in and eat at Lucy's Fried Chicken. It has a laid-back atmosphere and delicious food. We tried the deep-fried deviled eggs, chicken and waffles, and the drunk catfish sandwich. All were excellent choices. The catfish filet on the sandwich was enough for two sandwiches. It was seasoned perfectly and fried crisp. Chicken and waffles were a hit with delicious tenders and two great-tasting waffles with honey butter.
We had Lucy’s Fried Chicken cater our wedding, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice! The food was absolutely delicious—so many of our guests told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. The fried chicken, sides, and everything else were cooked to perfection. The service was also top-notch. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly, making sure everything went smoothly. They took care of the chair setup for the ceremony and the table settings, and it exceeded my expectations. They truly helped make our day memorable, and we’re so grateful for their hard work. We highly recommend Lucy’s Fried Chicken for any event!
Service is always attentive and friendly! Parking is a bit limited, but if you go at the right time it’s not a hassle. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable with plenty of inside and outside seating. The food is 5 stars every time with reasonable prices!! You cannot go wrong with any of the menu items.
I just happened to walk this way to another restaurant and decided to stop here. The location gave me a local, not a chain restaurant feel. I was told to choose my seat and shortly after sitting, my server, Vico, greeted me. She was very polite, courteous and respectful. Everything was done with a smile. The food was great and tasty. I hope to come back and try some other dishes!!
Lucy’s catering did a phenomenal job at our October 2024 wedding!!! They handled all the setup and breakdown and did everything perfectly and with efficiency. Not to mention they are very competitively priced versus other full service caterers in the Austin area. Cristina was so sweet and easy to work with leading up to our day! She was extremely communicative and patient even when I had a million questions/ menu changes. Most importantly - the food was absolutely spectacular. People still make a point to tell us how amazing the food was and multiple professional chefs who were our guests told me it was “the best wedding food they’ve ever had.” The grilled vegetables were a stand out as well! My husband and I are both foodies but still wanted to honor our Texas roots at our wedding. They helped us craft a menu that was both upscale and true to us. Going to oyster bars and attending oyster tastings was a big part of our dating life and we really wanted to incorporate that at our wedding - which is ultimately why we went with Lucy’s. We had the raw oyster bar for cocktail hour and our guests adored it and we also heard multiple compliments about the shucker on staff. 10/10 highly recommend Lucy’s for your wedding or event!
This is now my favorite returant in Austin to order chicken and waffles! You must try them! The atmosphere was awesome. We came for lunch. Our waiter, Eric, did a great job, very enthusiastic and outgoing. I will definitely recommend Lucy's Chicken. Oh yeah, I am very picky about my unsweet Tea, this tea was perfectly made, and you will not be disappointed. I will definitely return to this establishment at this location.
Awesome place, loved the atmosphere and our service was outstanding. We loved everything but ordered to much. Overall it was just perfect. The chicken liver was excellent. The Bloody Mary was to die for. First time having fried deviled eggs and I’m expressed. Outside seating was good. We’ll definitely come back again.

Loved the relaxed backyard vibe and the friendly people. The fried chicken was fresh and crispy. I wanted to give five stars but the seasoning was off and chicken was absolutely dry. The fried fish was extremely oily.....almost to where if you squeeze the pieces, oil would run out. For the entire fish order, you get one tiny small dollop of tartar sauce which makes no sense. Lastly, we had a whole shell of fried batter with no fish inside! I'm not sure how the lightweight piece wouldn't ring a bell. I mentioned it to the server and that was it. The folks working were friendly but unfortunately that doesn't translate to customer service. We enjoy Lucy's so this will not deter us from another visit.
I was super excited to come try this place. We started w/the oysters and the fried deviled eggs. They were okay. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich and he said it was okay, but not the best he’s had. My daughter ordered the Chicken Caesar salad and really enjoyed it. Her boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak and l loved it. I had the chicken tenders and waffles. Personally for me the chicken lacked flavor and the waffles were pretty hard and dry, despite a beautiful presentation. We also ordered the S’Mores pie and banana pudding. The chocolate s’mores was way too sweet and rich for my taste, but my daughter and her boyfriend liked it. My hubby and I shared the banana pudding, it looked amazing and delicious, but it had no sweet taste at all. So one was too sweet and one lacked flavor. The overall atmosphere is nostalgic and tucked away from the busy street. Our server was excellent.
This was our first timehere and Lucy's did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were delicious. The waffles were the perfect amount of chewy and crunchy. The chicken was very flavorful. My other only wish is that I had some real maple syrup to go along with this culinary delight. Instead I received a packet of syrup sauce. I ate my waffles dry after my first bite with the sauce was disappointing. Still the meal was good. The cocktails were great and the service was awesome.
First time visit to Lucy’s. We arrived and was immediately seated. We sat inside due to the heated weather conditions. The waiter assisted immediately to provide drinks. For the appetizer we tried the fried eggs which were ok and the fried pickles were a bit salty to me. We decided to try the catfish meal and was pretty good. Flavor was perfect and it came out smoking hot which I can appreciate. Overall nice spot and our waiter was very attentive.
Went to Lucy’s for the first time today - our expectations were mid and we had heard opposing opinions. We ordered a Texas Poutine (special for the day) to start and it was great. The tater tots were done well and their sausage gravy was actually damn good. The cheese curds were perfectly fried and had that amazing chew you always want in a cute. I’d actually get the curds by themselves if they had them too. The other special for they day was Nashville Hot Chicken. I overestimated the hot.. it wasn’t hot at all. They served me 2 chicken breasts which I thought was odd - at least a heads up or a mix of dark and white meat. Unfortunately it was dry. The skin and Nashville seasoning was good but there was little Nashville to it. The fried chicken basket was better. The 4 piece came with breast, thigh, drumstick and wing. It was juicy and paired well with some of the sauces they have at the table. We also ordered coleslaw and I thought it was good. My wife thought it had too much vinegar. Overall, everything was good but it doesn’t compete with the big name up the road. (It rhymes with buses). Service was good and the place looks fun to have a few drinks too.
The food is overpriced, but it tastes good. The quality of the food has been a hit or miss lately, but it's still good based on the quality of southern food in Austin.
This was a delivery and from one of their locations, College Avenue, that I've never been to nevertheless, my delivery arrived in a timely manner and the temperature of my chicken was perfect. I …

Ordered delivery and it was my first experience eating at Lucy's. delivery was prompt and food was hot. Had the catfish, turnip greens and fries. Super goos and I would order again.
Order -Bucket of Chicken (3 out of 5) - chicken sandwich ( 5 out of 5) - onion rings ( 3 out 5 ) salty - fries (4 out 5) - cornbread ( 4.5 out 5) Service was good only the server dropped tea on me and did not apologize but besides that it was good. The bathroom was discussing pee everywhere and was nasty, making me want to throw up after eating there. The restaurant outside smells bad and needs to be cleaned, I guess for Austin is ok standards-wise, would I go back probably not. Even though they had a good pecan pie.

Food wasn’t the issue, but the service and lack of communication was. I ordered a special without knowing that it’s only applicable for dine-in. I paid cash and then asked; had I known would’ve dined in, but one guy said it’s too late the food is dropped and the other guy act like they couldn’t give me my money back or void the order. Food is good but likely won’t be back after that transaction.
Black bones and burnt skin? This was from the location on South Congress (filthy floor)... the food came out within one minute and food lukewarm. Total disaster. The service is so so...
