Opinions de Lenoir Austin
No wonder this place is hard to get into! We snagged a last minute reservation on a day where temps were dropping in the evening, but were still able to enjoy their lovely patio with all the heat lamps. Great wine based cocktails and a fun wine list. Loved the smoky drink especially and the orange wine from Chile 🧡🔥 We were recommended 3-5 dishes for 2 people and ended up ordering 5 because we couldn’t decide. At least something on the menu changes every 3 weeks, so won’t describe every dish. BUT, EVERYTHING that we ordered we would get again! It’s been a while since that has happened, especially in Austin. Just wow on all the flavors, textures and acidity balance. Cannot wait to return and maybe get to the desert the time…the basque cheesecake has our name on it, but we were too full! Will just have to come back within 3 weeks!
Staffs are knowledgeable and friendly. Food is excellent, the chef paying attention to the detail! The ingredients and spices are source locally. Indoor seating is very limited so you should make reservations. Please note on site only has valet parking.
Incredible operation here. Service is impeccable. Flavor is incredible. Whole experience was top notch. Cant wait to try the bar the restaurant is opening next week. This establishment is top notch all around. Run dont walk :)
Went for a reservation for Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend! Although the 4-course menu was very delicious, the overall menu layout and drink menu was not very well organized. The way the menu was organized was confusing in wording and overall printed layout. Madelyn was very helpful and outgoing and provided exceptional service.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Lenoir. We sat outside in the wine garden, which was absolutely beautiful — the large tree and the atmosphere made it feel really special and relaxing. Our server, Ray, was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations throughout the evening. The food was excellent from start to finish. The Big Tree Oysters were incredibly fresh, the Black Drum fish was perfectly prepared, and the Half Chicken was one of the best we’ve had. Overall it was a great dining experience with amazing food, a beautiful setting, and outstanding service from Ray. We would absolutely come back the next time we’re in Austin.
What a great culinary experience! My wife and I went here for a date night and highly recommend to anyone wanting a unique family style restaurant in Austin. We ordered the chef’s 4 course special and each dish brought out was an explosion of flavor. The dishes were meant to be shared and ended up being the perfect amount. The ambiance was quaint and intimate and the wait staff was very attentive. A must go in Austin.
We got married at the Lenoir Winegarden, and it was absolutely magical. They truly took care of everything — we basically just paid, showed up, and enjoyed our day stress-free. Our guests are still talking about it and said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had! I absolutely love this space — it’s beautiful, warm, and so special. The staff were relaxed, professional, and completely natural at what they do, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
One of the loveliest dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Every dish was incredible, the wine garden is magical (lanterns hanging from a pair of magnificent live oaks with an A+ playlist all night), and our service was excellent. My favorite way to eat is to be surprised and delighted by foods I already love. The Pullman bread is a revelation, the half chicken was as perfect as a half chicken can be (perfectly seasoned, perfectly crisp skin, a little spicy, buttery, salty, wonderful) an expert cream puff for dessert, plus a stellar wine list. If I lived in Austin I’d be here once a month.
Had the tasting menu with wine pairing along with the dressed oysters, and my partner and I loved everything (perhaps with the exception of the port because we aren't really into sweet wines). The tasting menu with wine pairing has also been a safe bet the other times we have eaten here. I would highly recommend this! Plus, the wine garden has a nice ambiance.
I can not say enough amazing things about this place. We had a last minute celebration and without hesitation their staff made it feel like it was something we had planned for months. Zach was our waiter and talk about incredible. No matter the request or question he knew the answer. He made us feel taken care of and I wish I could give this place 100 stars based off his and the rest of the staff’s service. Next the food. Wow. We did the tasting menu and incredible. I don’t think there was a single bite of food at our table that didn’t receive raving reviews well deserved. If every restaurant was like this one we’d never see doors closing. Thank you again Lenoir for making such a memorable evening so incredible. We are so grateful.
One of our favorite places. We’ve dined here several times throughout the years and have enjoyed it very much. To celebrate life and also just because. The atmosphere is warm and cozy inside and the wine garden is nicely lit up. While I would say I am not typically a fan of a rotating menu, I thoroughly enjoy the change up here. (Although if I say so myself the squash, crawfish pasta, beef cheek with mushrooms, and honey pie are very missed!!! Bring back anytime! 😆) We did the tasting menu our very first time, but it works best for us to just order 4-5 things off the menu that we find interesting and unique. We always ask our server as well and we’ve never been misguided. The pullman bread is a classic that is always enjoyed every time. Crab fingers and hushpuppies are also menu staples that are good and seem to be available year round. We also enjoy the red wine selection they have. Most recently we had the roasted chili lime chicken and the sweet potato gnocchi which was great! We would 100% recommend and will be back.
My partner was having a rough day (a death in the family) and we decided to come for dinner quite late. The server was so welcoming and didn't make us feel bad about being the last ones in the restaurant (so sorry btw!). The service was phenomenal, the food was good and its a beautiful little restaurant. I just wanted to thank our server again for creating such a safe space for us, we really needed it 🙏
The dishes that stole show were: - grilled jerk cabbage ginger coconut soubise, creamer pea conserva - tangerine almond cake meyer lemon curd, grapefruit, agrumato They stretched the limits on flavors and textures to create truly unique dishes. This is a small but mighty kitchen and with only ~4 tables and a bar (+ a separate wine garden), it’s cozy and unique to Austin.
We were both pleasantly surprised by this spot. Food and wine were exceptional. We did the chef's fixed course and everything was a 10/10. Our waitress Madeline was very nice and attentive. Would love to come back.
All I can say is WOW! We came in for our honeymoon and had the most exquisite time! Between the cozy atmosphere and the best service in the world (Clinton is the best and walked us through the menu to help us have the hest experience) it felt like having dinner with a close friend, that is if your friend could make the best steak you've ever had in your life!! There wasnt a bad thing we ate, from the crab fingers to the chocolate crémeux dessert everything was delicious, there isn't a bad choice! Thank you so much for making our evening special, we absolutely will be back!!
Our dinner was absolutely delightful. We booked here for a birthday dinner after a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Everything was wonderful. It’s such a cute little place on the inside and the vibes were perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed the vintage/antique china and silverware used throughout our meal. Such a cute little touch. Our server, Madelyn was absolutely lovely and made our experience even better. She was on top of everything, perfectly coursed out our selections, gave the best recommendation for wine, and was so sweet. The kitchen was so impressive. It’s incredibly tiny (you can see into the kitchen in the dining room) and they put out some of the best unique dishes we’ve had in a while. It seemed to run like a well oiled machine with just two men cooking everything. Mind blown. Thank you guys all so much for a great birthday dinner and making me feel special. We’ll for sure be recommending Lenoir to others and we’ll be back! 10/10
Man oh man, what an experience my husband and I had the other night at Lenoir. I'll start with the ambiance- we sat outside under beautiful trees with sparkly hanging lights. It was so romantic and beautiful. The food, OMG! Creative, innovative, and so so sooooo tasty! After days of TX BBQ, I was craving some greens and ordered the apple salad. Best salad I have ever had. My husband and I are still talking about that salad! Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The wine list was extensive and included some great bottles. Lastly, the service- Madalyn provided exceptional and warm service. She was so friendly, knowledgeable, and truly a bright light. We love to meet new people when we travel and Madalyn was exceptional and made our experience at Lenoir's top notch! To the whole team at Lenoir's- you are doing a fantastic job and have something really special and magical going on. I'll book a trip to Austin just to visit Lenoir! Hats off to you all :)
Creative and seasonal food! The chef is inspired 👏 Cute and cozy ambiance Very friendly staff 😃 My partner and I enjoyed our date night here. We chose to eat at the bar, and enjoyed talking with delightful and fun bartender. This place has a lot of soul, character, and charm. Really love it keeping South 1st St fun and boutique! Keep up the great work
This is an outstanding restaurant with a great original Austin. Feel. If you want to enjoy contemporary American cuisine with a staff that is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable in an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. This is the place for you! Also, I highly recommend the Monday industry night Burger!
Awesome place, with a large patio that is full of trees and overlooks the creek behind. Great wine selection and lots of options by the glass too. Food was creative, different and delicious! Pleasantly surprised with the flavors and all the combinations (crawfish, wild boar bacon and pasta, or sausage, speck ham and cabbage). Service was on point, quick and knowledgeable, ambiance hard to beat on a perfect weather night. Must try!
We finally had the chance to eat here and It was amazing. Its a very small intimate restaurant inside but huge wine patio in back. We sat inside and had the chefs menu with the wine pairing and it was delicious. You can see why this place is still around. They pair wine and food that you would have never thought of. We are definitely going back.
What a divine experience! We were visiting Austin from Canada & chose Lenoir as one of the stops to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. From start to finish, they made the experience special for us. Immaculate service at the bar, cozy cool vibes, excellent food & the staff wrote us a card with a treat for next time. We got 3 dishes & it was perfect to share between the two of us & we both left very satisfied!! Hands down one of the best meals we had during our time in Austin - thank you, Lenoir!!
I absolutely love Lenoir. The food is warm weather food inspired by climates similar to Austin with a rotating menu. Several mainstays include the house Pullman bread served with the best pimento cheese and chow chow, the blue corn and pecan hush puppies, and the crab fingers. The rest of the menu alternates depending on the season and offers a variety of options for any dietary lifestyle. I dined last night with my vegan friends and they were amazed by the options, calling the current linguine the best food they'd had this year (and they live in New York City, which feels like that's saying something). They also have an expansive wine and wine based cocktail list that has a bottle/glass for any palette. The service is one of the best in the city with a dedication to providing quality guest experience and a fine dining experience at a reasonable price point. The restaurant has two options for dining, either inside in the converted bungalow or outside in the wine garden. Both are unique and different experiences to behold. Perfect for any occasion and would highly recommend for celebrations.
For my birthday, my son decided to treat me to a nice dinner to (what 7sed to be) my favorite Austin restaurant. In recent years, I had a couple of bad experiences that kept me away from them. This time, it was different. We decided to go for the special-priced French Cajun Menu during half aff week. We were not disappointed. Atmosphere: although I would have preferred an inside table, they guided us to the outside covered space. It was a little chilly but the heater did their job to keep us warm. It was raining outside. I was wondering how the service personnel was able to bring us our food without a drop of water on our dishes, but they did. Food: I must say, as a retired chef, I was impressed this time around. Everything was perfect or near perfect. Keep in mind that the menu will probably change. We started with Blackened Kampachi Crudo (kohlrabi sofrito, curry leaf dressing). A wonderful combination of dliced raw yellow Tuna fish marinated in a citrus-herbal dressing. Tasty and refreshing. Then, pan-roasted drum (reminiscing mushroom, buttered hakurai turnip with oyster herbal broth). The fish was perfectly cooked. It was topped with thinl slices of cremini mushroom and an intriguing sauce made with the liquid from fresh oysters blended with fresh herbs. Very good. After that, andouille duck (dirty rice cake, maque choux and gumbo espagnole). I expected a typical Ftench andouille sausage but instead we were served shredded duck meat on top of dirty rice, all of it pan fried and crispy on the outside. The vegetable side, maque choux was made with stewed corn mixed with peppers and onions. The gumbo espagnole was made from a rich duck fond. Finally, for dessert, we chose the tangerine Almond cake w Meyer lemon curd, grapefruit and agrumato (we could have gone with the caramelized banana oudding). The almond cake was a little dense for my taste but just lightly sweet. The topping was an acidulee lemon curd (not enough of it) with a sweet grapefruit slice and a sauce agrumato made with olive oil blended with argument. A very nice touch. Sercice: our main waitress, Valerie, was a sweet and happy server. Morgan, Kate and Clintin did their part in making our dinner an enjoyable experience. A nice icing on the cake, so to speak, was a birthday card signed by all servers with a sweet note and two free drinks when we decide to come back. An additional sweet attention. Altogether: a memorable food experience marred by a few details. We will probably come back if such special occasion occurs. On a slightly strange note: I'm not sure why but instead of a serving per person, we were served a plate for two to be shared. We thought that was weird. Why not serve each patron it's own plate? We came down from Dallas and were excited to try farm to table food . The service was absolutely amazing! The hostess the waitress and the entire team were kind and helpful. The food was a disappointment. We did the fixed menu. The oysters and crab were good. The second dish was almost inedible for us. It was really off putting and we didn't eat it. The whole fish was cooked well. The dessert was good but not great. For the price of the food we were underwhelmed. The atmosphere was pleasant and clean. Unfortunately I don't think we would return do to leaving still hungry almost $300+ later.
We were excited to try the chef’s menu featuring Texas games and served in family style. Yet the high expectation was met by underwhelming delivery. The tuna tartarte weren’t properly deveined and the seasoning made it impossible to taste anything but salt and overpowering vinaigrette. The duck toast was the only dish that delivered. We enjoyed the stuffed quail but the rest of the 2 dishes in the Boar 3 Ways were disappointingly salty served with super pungent sauce. The dessert was okay. Besides, this tasting menu was quite overpriced considering the portion and compared with other restaurant’s tasting menu in town. Their wine list is extensive and worth trying though.
