I have been in Edinburgh for a little over 24 hrs and this is by far some of the best service, food, and hospitality I have received anywhere in the World! If you happen to be in downtown Edinburgh, do yourself a favor and get to Shezan Indian Cuisine! You’ll have a food memory to last a lifetime❤️
Visited Shezan on a very quiet Wednesday evening. Very attentive staff and good help with choosing from the menu. The food was really great and plentiful. I especially liked Shezans version of raita. 👍
Hell yeah twin, went there alone and the service was amazing, ordered karahi with garlic naan and rice that thing SLAP. i usually dont give review or anything but what made me do this is their service. Always checking up on me and made sure i had a great experience. W
Absolutely top-tier, food was amazing, service was attentive, would come again a hundred times. Servings were very generous, I didn’t think I’d be able to finish but I couldn’t stop it tasted so good.
Had a lovely meal. The food was beautiful and the Naan bread was superb. The staff were so welcoming and Mahima really looked after me. I will definitely be returning and you should visit too.....
authentic indian restaurant with affordable price and good portion. Mahima's service is impeccable. Recommend!
Visited last year in May, The food was very good and the staff were amazing ! Thank you !
This place deserves five stars. The food was excellent, and so was the service. The price was right too! The nan was delicious and so was the chicken. I hesitated to go in because of a terrible review. But I trusted my gut and decided to give it a try. It was wonderful. Restaurant decor could use a little bit of help, but the food was great. I loved my mango lassi.
I love this restaurant. I come here each time I visit. Many years ago, I met a guy who is now one of my best and valued friends. He ives in France and I live in Maryland. The food and service has not failed over the many years.
In town and staying close to Shezan. Had a late dinner with them just before closing and the service and kitchen couldn’t have been more accommodating. Delicious food! Highly recommend the butter chicken and tandoori chicken. Nan was made fresh for us. Highly recommend this place.
The staff were super loving and helpful!! The Chicken Tikka Masala was the best one I have eaten!! 10/10. The Garlic Naan was also massive and super delicious!
I have tried Peshwari Naan in four different Indian restaurants in Edinburgh, and I can conclude this is the most delicious and biggest one! Very satisfying and appetising! Here the Naan is not dry or crispy but fluffy and smooth. I love their Peshwari Naan the most. And the barbecue mix is a must! Very signature flavours make the grill impressive and any one of the mix is tasty - so rich and heavy in flavours but not too salty and I love this. Mushrooms are normal; King prawn Tandoori is beyond my expectations because if I’m not wrong, they use Tiger (isn’t it King prawn?!) prawns to serve this dish, these prawns taste and smell like lobster! You must try! Also I guess the tikka masala and rice are sides for the mix grill, and they are delicious as well. I am planning orders as many as I want in the future. Great recipes.
Hands down one of the best lunch menu I have ever seen. Affordable and super tasty. Guys check out this restaurant. The flavours would blow your mind. Loved the lunch menu! Will definitely visit again and 100% reccomend to everyone! The pakoras, chicken tikka and chicken biriyani blew my mind. Felt just like how they make in India. Best biriyani in Edinburgh according to me!
Delicious food, great service!!!, totally recommended !
I'm an American traveling with a tour group. Selected this fine restaurant because it was close to my hotel. A very fortunate choice! Our server Sid was amazing, made great suggestions and was on top of our needs 100%. The food was... gorgeous! Amazing layers of flavors perfectly prepared. Yep. Eat here!
We had a large group and they did a wonderful job accommodating us. The food was magnificent!
Best balti and korma ever. My assistance dog was with me. Staff dealt with that drama and problem free. Utterly recommended.
One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in a long time! The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch. A special shoutout to our waiter, Sumit — he was exceptionally kind, attentive, and made our experience even better. Highly recommend!
Staff exceptional food exquisite. I Love this Restaurant as a Local i am Lucky to eat hear twice a week . Relaxed friendly Thankyou Shezan for my lovely evenings Linda Brandy
The first time sampling our favourite takeaway in person. It did not disappoint and the service was excellent. Highly recommend.
The food was excellent and exceptionally exquisite, with a lot of effort put into the taste and presentation. The butter chicken and lamb biryani was a must. Great people watching too, we got a kick observing the ongoings outside.
The food was fantastic and the service was lovely. Great to have a place that is so close to the center that is also, good value for money. The naan bread is the size of the table and the curries are phenomenal.
Best Indian foods , had a very great time and food here And best service provided by Mr. Sumit Thankyou so much ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We found this place late after arriving in the city. The food was amazing! To make sure we weren’t just hungry morphing our review, we came back a few days later. Still amazing! Gluten Free & vegan options. Tons of flavor! It feels like a home cooked meal, just the perfect amount of spice & love. Great staff. I wish I can pack them up and take them home with me. Top shelf.
Walked by one Sunday night, everyone was hungry and although the lack of other patrons concerned me, on opening the door we all knew it would be good. The food smelt delicious. Tandoori lamb and curries were very enjoyable. Only complaint meat samosas seemed not home made which was disappointing. We did have to ask for water twice so the staff were not as on the ball as they could have been, but the quality of the food made up for minor annoyance. We would return.
Food was incredibly good. Super tasty. Our waitress Mahima provided great service. Would recommend.
first time I’ve tasted tawa, and the balanced bloom of tanginess and savoury umami put me in a happy daze. we also had the Ceylonese curry and karahi, and they too were flavour bombs. come here if you want to be hugged by a depth of spices. 5/5
The food was good, just what you would expect from an Indian food place. If I had to highlight one thing, it was that they got the perfect level of spiciness, exactly what I had asked for. The service was excellent, the waiter, who told us his name was called Sumit, was very friendly from the start, and personally, his good manner was what I liked most about the place. Also, it took relatively little time for them to serve us. As for the atmosphere, it was quiet and pleasant. I really have nothing bad to say about this restaurant, even the price was fairly good, around 17 pounds per person.
Amazing food, best curry I've had in ages. The nans are so good. The pickle tray is huge. The staff are very attentive. Can't fault it one bit!
I had butter chicken and rice, which was great! I always like Indian food, the chicken actually are tasty and you can tell they were being marinated. I went to one Indian restaurant once in dalry, the chicken was tasteless, only the sauce. But this one was good! Once a while treats is good in this restaurant.
We'd booked a table for 11 at a local restaurant but they had lost the details for our booking so, at late notice, shezan got us a table and looked after us beautifully. Food was great, it was very affordable and they provided a birthday cake and made a fuss of the birthday boy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We decided to try this restaurant for our anniversary after hearing Tam Cowan recommend it, and we’re so glad we did. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. The food was absolutely 10/10 – every dish was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable too – the staff couldn’t have treated us any better, they really made us feel special. A brilliant spot for a memorable meal. Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be back!
Visited twice in a week. Both times food and service was great. Love chuckney tray especially which had 6 different dips.
Great food, excellent service with friendly staff. Shout out to our waiter Rishav for his recommendation as well. Always up for revisiting when fancying a curry
Went in as we were passing. Excellent food, fresh and full of flavour. Excellent service from the staff especially Mahima
I have never been a lover of Indian cuisine finding it too spicy/hot, but have enjoyed the experience of eating in this restaurant. The food was as described on the menu and delicious and the service matched the food. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and will definitely be dining there in the future. Those who walked past missed a gem.
We visited The Shezan Indian Cuisine on New Year’s Day for dinner and had a fantastic experience. Service was prompt and efficient without feeling rushed, which was especially impressive given the time of year. All of our meals were absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked, and very well portioned. Every dish was full of flavour and clearly made with care. A great spot for a relaxed, satisfying meal. We’ll definitely be back and would happily recommend it to others.
Mahima served us for the night and left an excellent impression, let me personally try the vindaloo to see if my taste buds were up for up for the challenge (which they were!). The rest of my party got The North Indian curry and the Tikka Masala which both were outstanding and very, very tasty. Experience as a whose was amazing it wasn’t the busiest but with it being a Monday night it is to be expected. Will definitely be returning to experience more of the menu!
I recently visited 2 times in one weekend as it was so good. Great service and excellent food in a good atmosphere. Well worth a visit. I especially recommend the chuckney tray which had 6 very interesting dips.
Wow. Just amazing food. I am coming for Second time in 2 days here. Garlic Naan and paneer butter masala -- mind blowing. Edinburgh has exceeded my expectations. The server, Sumit, was also very nice and very accommodating. I will definitely come here next time when I come to Edinburgh.
Stopped by for dinner last night and was very good. The only downside is on the mixed grill platter the serving size is a little small with only one lambchop and one kabob. The food was delicious and though I couldn't have the Naan bread, it looked very good. My wife had the chicken rogan josh, and was very good as well. If gluten free, highly recommend the place for good food. Our waitress Mahima was very nice and super friendly towards our 3 year old.
Went there for a quick dinner, service was fast and staff did a good job with dish recommendations
Really tasty food. Our waiter (apologies, I didn't get your name) was excellent and took the time to ask us what we liked so that he could suggest something new for each of us. The Lamb Chops are worth a special mention. I would definitely return...
The service is excellent. The atmosphere is ok in a clean modern environment. The food is good but we found it to be just good not wow or memorable.
Sadly this restaurant is freezing and you need to keep coat on to dine. Have dined here several times and sadly it was extremely cold when we visited recently. Sad as food ok and table service great given lack of staff
I’ve been involved in running an Indian restaurant for many years, both in the kitchen and front of house, so I was curious to try this place, as a tourist ,especially as it presents itself as a fine dining restaurant. The experience, however, didn’t quite match those expectations. Service was the first letdown — neither of the waiters greeted us with a hello or a smile. A warm welcome is such a small thing, but it makes a big difference, particularly in fine dining where service should feel polished and attentive. The food was another disappointment. I ordered snacks and was surprised to be served frozen samosas — the same type you can buy in local shops for 5 pounds 20 pieces . This isn’t about the cost, but about quality and presentation. In a restaurant that positions itself as fine dining, I would expect freshly prepared items, not pre-packaged frozen ones. The atmosphere and concept have potential, but to truly live up to a four -star standard, the team needs to focus on elevating both the service and the authenticity of the food. With some adjustments, this restaurant could offer the quality and experience it promises.
If you genuinely want to eat Indian food , do not go to this place, thats the best i can suggest being an Indian . It’s a cheap restaurant w cheap quality food. 1. Naan, overcooked and bitter, 2. instead of pilau they served jeera rice unless i have been eating wrong pilau my entire life 🤣 3. Samosas basically frozen ones which were deep fried which i feel we can easily get that from an Indian store and deep fry it ourselves. Service is terrible, not attentive while order been taken from customers, owner or so called owner of the restaurant seems very entitled, no care for genuine customer feedback/customer care. I had given a review about the food and the only thing they had to say was “this is how we have been doing all these years” , which left me w a good laughter 😅 Overall my experience was not good at all. He did take off £2.50 for the rice though, out of courtesy which I felt was genuine, but the stress i had to go through wasnt worth it.
Extremely noisy, the worst ever chicken korma in the world is probably here. If you know Indian food, do not come here. It is not wheelchair accessible and evidently offers no accessibility for people with autism. Even if you ask for your dish to be fixed, you still get something needing flavour. Deeply disappointed with the environment. The guys serving the food look very committed but it is sad that they could not fix a dish. I challenge them to eat what they serve in order to improve the quality of the food.
I visited Shezan in Edinburgh, expecting halal food based on their sign. However, when I asked if the food was truly halal, the staff rudely responded, 'Maybe you’ll get halal in Pakistan, not in the UK.' This cast serious doubt on their labeling. If halal standards matter to you, I’d recommend verifying before dining here. Clear labeling and respectful customer service are needed. Staff said to me Go and learn about what halal means. This cast serious doubt on their labeling and understanding of halal standards. I politely request that the management of Shezan inform their staff about what halal truly means and the importance of clear, accurate labeling. If the restaurant is displaying a halal sticker on its menu, it should reflect genuine halal standards. Respectful customer service and transparency in labeling are essential, especially for those who rely on these standards for dietary or ethical reasons. If halal standards matter to you, I’d recommend verifying before dining here.
I'm really disappointed, my main dish was chicken madras and it was absolutely flooded and swimming in oil, it had even spilled out into the bag. I've never seen such a vast amount of oil on an Indian dish before. The food was tasty but that was a real let down and really off putting. Collection time was quick and staff were friendly on collection.
