This is our go to for local Chinese food. We order here maybe once a month. They have my favorite dish (fish in black bean sauce) which a lot of places don't serve. The service is always great. I always do a to go order and usually have my baby with me. They always offer to carry the food out to my car which is so appreciated.

Been here a few times. The amount of each serving has always left me well pleased! The taste of every plate I've ordered has been spot on. Everyone who works there seems genuinely in wanting to help you have a great experience. The prices are fair. This is one one of my favorite places to eat!

We had the BBQ pork fried rice (with no bean sprouts) and orange chicken. Food came out hot and fresh and yummy. It's a nice family owned restaurant. I love supporting our local small businesses and there are not enough good Chinese Food restaurants in California. So I'd recommend checking them out for yourself

This place is a little pricey but it is worth the price for the amount of food you get and for the taste. We ordered the sweet and sour shrimp and it was definitely delicious. The shrimp were huge and meaty. Not like in other places where they look huge and it's a tiny piece of shrimp in a huge ball of dough. Their shrimp are huge and delicious. The egg rolls are big as well not the little thin egg rolls. Really good food!

Always fast efficient service. Their orange chicken is perfect! Not too dry or out of proportion to the breading. Their value for a large Thai tea with or without boba is great too. I'm glad I live so close 👌

We order takeout and the more-liquid entres are served in quart containers. More food than I can eat in 3 days. The rice on the side is small (I usually end up making a cup of sticky rice at home to finish leftovers). Great flavor too. We have never been disappointed.

I love this restaurant. Everybody that works there are so friendly. Their food is amazing and so are their smoothies. They really make you feel like family. I totally recommend this place. Again the people that work here are so friendly and seem to remember everyone that’s been there.

Meals are delicious! The food is excellent, they have boba drinks and the deliver! I love the orange chicken. The cream cheese wontons are amazing! Customer service is on point. They are so great to the kids. If you haven't ordered here yet I strongly suggest trying it!

Love this place because the food is clean and so flavorful and it's not expensive at all. The portions are generous and the ladies that work are very friendly and smile. Once in a while there's a man there who is not as friendly but he gets the job done. Everything I've ever order has been on point. Love the sweet and sour chicken and the special wonton soup with the vegetables.

This is seriously the best Chinese food I've had in San Diego. Every dish has loads of flavor and the portions are very large. Prices are very good and they have a nice sized dine in section. I highly recommend this to anyone in the surrounding area to try.

China 1968, your the one who i desire Gently blow and stir the fire, Lay the mutton down to roast, Dress it nicely I desire, In the dripping put a toast, That I hunger may remove: Mutton is the meat I love. On the dresser see it lie, Oh! the charming white and red! Finer meat ne’er met my eye, On the sweetest grass it fed: Let the jack go swiftly round, Let me have it nicely browned. On the table spread the cloth, Let the knives be sharp and clean: Pickles get and salad both, Let them each be fresh and green: With small beer, good ale, and wine, O ye gods! how I shall dine China 1968

It was my first time there and everything was delicious, hot and fresh and quick service... It wasn't crowded, we were seated immediately. The staff is very friendly. Apparently my little sister is a regular because they certainly remember her and her usual dishes. They make you feel very welcome.

12/202025 found this Chinese restaurant on yelp In El Cajon California jut off the I 8 and hwy 67. Pn Broadway headed east. First off the staff was professional and polite. Nice decore and restaurant was clean . And there open from noon tell 9 pm. I Stopped in to get some beef low main noodles . They were very good . I usually get house low main. But I wanted to try the beef. Very good worth getting and highly Called the order in and it took 20 minutes witch was fine because I was in spring valley . Head back to Julian so I was able to stop on the way. I wll be back and I do recommend this restaurant. 5 stars for food staff and restaurant.

I recently researched a good Chinese restaurant for takeout, and it was a great experience! I called the restaurant, and the person who answered was so patient and helpful, answering every single question I had. It was really nice. I gave them a pickup time, and it was totally worth it. We tried the Beef Lo Mein ($15.99), Shrimp House Special Fried Rice ($14.99), Salt & Pepper Shrimp ($19.99), and Homestyle Tofu ($14.99). Everything was delicious, flavorful, and perfectly salty. The portions were generous, enough for the two of us, which was amazing. Just a heads-up: since it’s a restaurant, if you’re sensitive to salt, you might want to ask them to go easy on it. Otherwise, just drink plenty of water. Personally, I loved it! We’ll definitely be returning.

This place is exactly every Chinese restaurant from my childhood! Right down from the paper zodiac placemats to the very reasonable prices and classic dishes! I stopped in for lunch on on a Saturday with a friend (after stopping by the nail salon next door) and we were greeted upon entering and the staff was quick and friendly. We got lunch specials which was more than enough to fill us up! It included a soup of our choice (eggdrop/eggflower or hot and sour), rice of our choice (fried rice or white rice), and a decent sized entree. She got the sweet and sour chicken and I got the sesame chicken. We both enjoyed our meals and felt no pressure to hurry up. When the bill came we were pleasantly surprised that we both ate our fill and the total was about $21 for both of us! After an already great experience, that was just the cherry on top! This is decent, classic Chinese-American food for a reasonable price! I would definitely go back here when I'm craving classic Chinese-American cuisine!

China 1968 has great food and great service! I came here with my girlfriend and her sister for an early lunch, so luckily we got there before their lunch rush. We got about 5 different items to share, and each one was delicious. I don't make it out to this area often, but next time I do, I will definitely be stopping by again!

My mom and I love getting together and heading over to this particular restaurant. We love the traditional way of serving here. The lunch special is amazing 🥳. They will greet you as you walk in. You seat yourself wherever you like. Then they will know you are dining in. They promptly bring out cute paper place mats with the Chinese New Year 🧧 animals on it silverware 🍴 and menus. Take your drink orders right away then they bring your drinks and ask if your ready to order. If you get the lunch special they will quickly bring out the soup 🍲 in the cute little bowls 🍚 and cute Chinese spoon. They also bring out the crispy Chinese chips that go in the soup in a separate plate with a yummy house made I believe sweet and sour sauce to dip the chips in if you like. Then your main course comes out. It’s is a pleasant experience. It isn’t fancy but you feel like you are at your aunts house. If your aunt was Chinese and she was a great cook. 😋🙌🏽 On this day my mom ordered the Almond Chicken. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. They were both so flavorful, fresh and fantastic 👏🏽🥰

Large portions to share with a group or take leftovers home for delicious meal the next day. Food came to the table piping hot with lots of flavor. Four adults, we ordered three dishes and still have leftovers. Large wonton soup, beef and broccoli 🥦 and house low mein. Delicious 😋. Our waitress was fun and friendly.

"China 1968" is a small family-owned Chinese strip mall specializing in take-out. I was told that the reason for "1968" is that those are lucky Chinese numbers. My review is about the fried chicken. There are two fried chicken varieties here: The Salt & Pepper Boneless Fried Chicken Breast, and the Salt & Pepper Fried Chicken Wings. They're made to order, so they took a little bit to come out. Once served, the fried chicken pieces look similar to other Asian offerings with their thin, hard batter made of flour, and starch of potato or corn or both. They smell like heaven and are fried to a rich golden hue. I remember picking up my first wing and its crunchy, crackly fried coating shattering as my teeth penetrated its crust, and a mini-explosion of liquid smearing warm chicken juices mixed with frying oil on my lips and tongue. I could taste chicken, salt, pepper, garlic, ginger, and hot pepper flakes. Great moisture, great crunchiness, great soft chicken meat, great spice blend. This unassuming strip-mall hole-in-the-wall serves some of San Diego's best fried chicken, and you should come here if you want what may be among the best Asian-style Salt & Pepper Fried Chicken you'll have anywhere.

We've tried a lot of Chinese restaurants around, and this is possibly the best family-style chinese restaurant in all of SD! This is the archetype of good family-run chinese food. If you're remotely considering chinese food, this has to be a must-try.

Went there for the first time tonight and it was amazing! The portions are HUGE so prepare for an entree to work for 2 people! We got hot and sour soup (the medium size was a LOT for being medium but worth it!) The salt and pepper wings were awesome and had a wonderfully crispy skin and we got orange chicken and sweet and sour pork 10/10 :)

Surprisingly good food! I wasn't expecting a lot based on the location, but this place is a hidden gem! Large portions and very friendly service. The restaurant is SUPER CLEAN, but the bathroom was a bit dirty AND being used for extra storage. If they clean up their bathrooms the 4-star review goes to 5-stars because of the good food and friendly service

The house made wonton soup was delectable. I recommend going for the lunch special as the dinner prices were quite high. The Mongolian beef was tasty, but not the best I've ever had. The server was very kind.

This place was highly recommended to me. I went with 2 friends. The menu is extensive with great variety. One problem is that they use msg in sauces. It didn't bother me but one friend was sick for 3 days. If you're sensitive, don't eat there. If not, the food is really tasty and generous portions.

I tried the kung pow 🦵 chicken 🐔 and it was great. Not too saucy, just the right size of portions. The meal is affordable during lunch hours. The meal comes with soup 🍲 and fried rice and egg roll. The soup could be better, maybe adding more veggies 😜 service is the typical Asian service, not much to expect, but overall I would come back and try another dish 🥣

Food was ok. We had the egg foo young 30.00 with a beer. And wontons. It was a bit excessive. But you get plenty of food. My girl and i shared one plate. Parking is ok. It's not the prettiest or cleanest place but it still one of the better Chinese restaurants.

I don't know if there's new management or new cooks , but I used to come here every Sunday! Literally every Sunday & I just got some food yesterday and it's so different, prices went up and less portion of food. Taste is completely different doesn't taste right . I would always order the same exact items for $43 came to order the same thing, order came out to $56!!! And less food!! And did not taste the same at all! Like how are you changing the prices and offer less food!!

It's good. The food itself is really good, the people are nice and friendly. The bad part is takeaway orders. The containers they use melt on the food so you can only eat the portion that isn't touching a container, about 40%. If you eat the food that is touching the container it'll taste like plastic and will make you sick. The container will have indentations from where the food absorbed the container, just don't eat that part it isn't worth it how badly you'll feel after. If you can eat around that, it's great. The containers are white and say "dolco" on the bottom.

I've grabbed food from here a few times. I think even for West Coast standards, the food is just not great. I've typically ordered the same things each time I've gone and it's almost always cooked differently. Staff is very nice though and the food comes out quickly

Only came to this location for the Singapore noodles and sometimes when I was feeling some fried chicken wings. They are not the best but you get extra crispy when you request extra crispy. They are definitely over priced now for their quality of service and food. $50-$55 for three single person items. Not worth it at all.

We placed a takeout order and had to wait over 1 1/2 hours before it was ready. The salt and pepper are chicken wings didn't have a lot of flavor. The house fried rice had a weird after taste. The worse thing was finding a long strand of brown hair in the vegetable chop suey. When we contacted the restaurant, they offered to replace the food for free. Really? We didn't want more food with possible more hair. Refunding some of the money would have been a nice gesture. We threw out half of the food because the hair was an appetite suppressant. We will never order food from Chinese 1968 again.

Ordered takeout Mixed vegetables: first thing in the description says mushrooms (I love mushrooms+ it is the only needed protein in the dish). Ordered fried rice I arrived home and no mushrooms at all and white rice. Look, if your out of mushrooms tell me so I can order another dish with some protein! How FRIED rice sounds different than white rice is beyond me!

Thought I’d take a chance on this place. Terrible portion and high price. They squeezed in an order before closing. A large general tsos had no flavor and was all sauce and vegetables, barely any meat. Worst $15 I’ve spent in awhile; we are still hungry and annoyed about it.

M

Chicken tasted like biting into rubber . Ordered chicken fried rice. The rice is so dark , you feel like you are eating gravel. But the meat tasted odd. I don't wanna come across as insensitive, but I don't think what I ate was chicken. It just didn't have the right texture. Something very odd about it. Maybe it's because the cooking sucked. But even still I know chicken. I eat chicken all the time. This ..was just strange. Also stingy with the sauces and has no napkins except the 1 thin fold that comes in a cheap plastic case of utensils. smh. This will be my first and last time.

if i could put zero stars i would. Before even getting menus we were seated at a dirty table with hair and a dead mosquito about 4 inches long. Rather than moving us or sanitizing that table, the server picks it up with her bare hands and walks away like nothing happened. They dont come back and wipe the table, and she doesnt go to the back to wash her hands. Absolutely disgusted and will never come back.
