Updated Review: The quality of the food compared to let’s say 1-2 years ago has greatly improved. They’re back to the original quality from when we started eating here back in 2011. The people have always been great at this establishment. So happy to have our favorite spot back again. Portions are big, meat is flavorful and well done, salsa is spicy. (Thought I had previously updated review but I guess it didn’t save!)

Order a California burrito, size of the burrito is pretty big compared to other taco shop. The fries were pretty crunchy, just how I liked them. Would definitely come by again whenever I’m in the area. Also, the staff were very friendly.

Continuing to explore my hypothesis that you can find amazing burritos in literally every California community, I checked out Silva's Taco Shop on a drive between my San Diego office and a jail outside of Yuma. Silva's was the only taco shop in this area that had a 4.5, which is the cut off for a well reviewed fast food place. This was a hash brown/egg/cheese/beans combo where you could add a meat. I added ham and said no to the beans on the theory that it would be a scoop of refried beans, this being the San Diego area. It was hot and fresh, the tortilla was solid and I liked the amount of cheese and how it combined with the hash brown. The egg was uninspired but that's normal. The hot sauce was standard for the area. It was a huge size, no way I could have eaten the whole thing without a fork and knife so I just threw away the last third of it. The restaurant was clean and the cashier was cheerful. It's about a half mile from the 8. Nothing unique but still a burrito you would absolutely kill for in most parts of the country.

Crisp bacon, eggs, cheese, beans and french fries. I like the extra Serrano Chile they give with your order. Breakfast burrito was 👍 Cabeza tacos here are good also.

A staple of El cajon. El cajon is a saturated market of taco shops. Standing out of such A large variety is often difficult. Silva's, while easily missed due to location issues is arguably one of the best options in the city. Silva's, stands out by quality and quantity. Everyone always has their favorite spot and a lot of locals choose to go here. Thier customer service is also a high point. They often go to any lengths to satisfy your needs. The downside- Location is very poor. Situated nearby and across from the famous Yogurt Mill, Silv's tiny lot between taller building and very inconvenient access and parking make this location had to get to and very easy to drive past. Additionally their sauce game is pretty weak. Their sauce options of red and green are very watery, and aside from some heat offer no flavor. Red is spicier and packs some decent heat, while the green is a weird unnatural nuclear waste green color and has little heat or flavor. Recommendation- I love the Grande burrito, but their breakfast burrito is also a top choice. I do highly recommend this location just bring your own sauce.

This place is great taste quality! But 1 time they gave me someone else order and another time I told them 2 green sauce and when I got home excited to eat only 2 sauce like how hard is that?

I've gone to you for decades. Your quality has gone completely downhill. I won't return. Sucks. You guys used to be awesome. Taking my business to Garcia's from here out. 16 dollars a plate and you give me dried out meat and the lack of meat is crazy.

I kept reading about how "authentic" this place is & the rave reviews - which is why I gave it a go. Well, not sure where these people been eating because the chile relleno was possibly top 2 worst I've ever had. Not sure what kinda cheese they used because it almost tasted like a squirt white Velveeta, blah! Plate was definitely heavy, which made me excited, till I realized it was majority breading eesh. Definitely don't get this if you go there. If you want an "authentic" relleno - Chuy's on Washington is the best I've found.

2nd time here. 1st time the food made me come back. After today I understand why driving to the next Mexican place would be a good idea. Lack of burnt meat(asada) and the customer service will not make me come back. Sylvia's what makes in and out burger good, is consistancy. Now I understand my peers telling to go elsewhere.

Cashiers with a lot of negative energy. When special requests were being made, the cashier cut me off and listed the toppings of my order. She then asked if what I was asking for was what I wanted, saying it was extra. Very unpleasant service and it’s not the first time. Every single time I’ve gone to this corner shop I’ve had a similar encounter. I’ve only been three times as it was suggested to me but this was the final straw. I will never go to this corner taco shop again.

Rude staff. The Carne in my burritos taste like it was made a few days ago. Over priced for below average food. I will not be going back. Save your money and do yourself a favor and eat at a different location. It's really not worth it.
