This place provides combination of fresh food, low carb, comfort foods options. The place is neat, diner style, plenty of sitting space. Friendly staff. Ordered Alcatraz with salad, perfect low carb savory crepe, omelette, Benedict eggs. All great.
Fantastic spot for a hearty breakfast. The menu has a lot of variety - everything from a variety of juices, teas, and coffees to the usual eggs, pancakes, french toast, etc. Went here with some friends and I got french toast, they got eggs benedict and a half moon crepe, and all of us got hot chocolate. All of it was very filling and very delicious. The portions are quite big too, so big in fact that I didn't even need to eat lunch afterwards. Service was very fast and the staff were polite and proactive. The cafe is clean, well kept, and spacious. I'll definitely be back.
I have been coming to this place for 5 years. They have a large menu that I never get tired of. Food is always on point. I definitely recommend to get the house potatoes as a side for anything you are getting. And do not sleep on the savory crepes. Atmosphere is awesome. My girlfriend and I do not like crowds so the outside seating area is a big plus. The giant artistic menu over the register gives anyone new to the place plenty of time to decide on what to eat. The service is the reason I keep going back at least once a month. The servers and manager are always super friendly and helpful. I am kind of sad that my favorite server retired though. The only negative thing I can say about the place is the times they are open. Since they close relatively early, I usually have to fit time in my busy schedule to go visit them.
This place genuinely. I have no words. I was hesitant as a college student at first to spend a little extra on breakfast, but once the food arrived LO BEHOLD my eyes and tastebuds were blessed with the most perfectly cooked and plated crepe. I did also get the fruit bowl on the side, which added a nice pop of flavor to the meal. Not long of a wait at all either, it took them like 5mins to show up with my food so that was great. This place is awesome - totally coming back :)
Whispers Cafe and Creperie is the kind of place that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon something special. Whether you're dropping in for a quiet breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or an indulgent afternoon treat, Whispers is the kind of place you’ll find yourself returning to again and again. A truly charming and memorable spot.
Good spot for breakfast and brunch. Just a walk away from the hotel. What else could you ask for. The Eggs (California) Benedict was perfect. The dessert crepe paired well with my meal and the iced coffee hot the spot. The line was a bit long when we got there, but the food came fast after ordering. Well worth the wait! I'll be back for more when I'm in the area again.
I met with a friend here to talk about life. First off, there's parking available right next to the cafe and a parking garage a couple of feet away. There is seating inside & outside. We sat inside. The customer waits in line to order their food, drinks, and pays for their meal. We were given a number to display on our table. I like the fact that we ordered and paid so we didn't have to wait for a server to bring us a check. Immediately after sitting down, they brought us our coffee. Our food came out within minutes. Their service was so quick! Once we were eating, they kept coming up to us to ask if we were okay. Great customer service. They even asked us if we were okay because we weren't eating lol; yet, we weren't eating because we were so enthralled in our conversation. It was so kind of them to check in on us and ensure there was nothing wrong with our food. I'd definitely recommend this cafe. If you've ever been to Davis, this place is a lot like Crepeville.
I loved that they offer patio seating. Its a great location if you are strolling through the Downtown, San Carlos Street area. Crepes were very good. Although, I am not a huge fan of the order at the counter and take a number. If you're going to encourage me to tip the server, I would prefer to be served. I tip anyway! Staff was friendly and food arrived very quickly. The Pomegranate Mimosa was refreshing without a super sweet juice. I highly recommend.
Whisper’s is a solid breakfast spot that has some flaws. Some items are definitely on the pricey side many of which don’t have a meat protein (They do offer quite a few coupons to reduce the price). Food can sometimes be inconsistent when it comes to seasoning but when it’s done correctly it’s very good and worth the price. Can’t skip the house potatoes as a side and California eggs benedict is the best entree I’ve had from there so far.
Pretty decent place. The portion sizes were pretty big, which I liked. The place was quite popular and there was a line to get inside. I got the huevos rancheros. The eggs were made well and the potatoes were nice. I also ordered a dish of eggs benedict which were good but could have used more seasoning. Overall this place wasn't bad and I would go again although it is a bit expensive.
I wasn’t overly impressed with this place. I liked the idea of crepes and I saw a Kari crepe that looked really good. When it came out I was disappointed. I thought a kari crepe would have a kari sauce with chicken and onions and red bell peppers. The crepe that came out had a few pieces of curry seasoned chicken, green peppers, red onion and mushrooms, and mango chutney throughout. I thought maybe I had missed the mushrooms in the description, and had I read it had mushrooms, I wouldn’t have ordered it. When I checked the menu again though, I noticed the printed, laminated menu didn’t contain mushrooms, but the big menu on the wall lists mushrooms. Overall the kari crepe was lacking chicken and it had so much chutney I would consider it a sweet crepe. The fries it came with as a side weren’t salted that I could tell. We also got the half moon crepe that had peaches and cream in it. It was better than the kari, but still just sort of lackluster. It was like they made the crepe, opened a can of peaches and tossed them inside. The last item we ordered was the breakfast burrito, which was ok. Overall the food wasn’t super warm it was mediocre. I was hungry and I’m leaving full, but I won’t make it a point to come back.
The A La Jack was tasty but had way too much garlic and onions to the point it was most of the filling. The house potato also lacked crisp and there was a bit too much of a tart flavor. The Whisper sweet crepe was good no complaints. Drip coffee tasted a bit burnt. Music at the restaurant was great though!
The menu on the wall has no prices so its hard to tell how much you will be charged. I went here twice--the first time I had then Buenos savory crepe. I dont know who thought this crepe combination was a good idea, because its a bunch of dry ingredients with no suace to hold it together. There's no nuance or skill in the ingredient selection. Maybe its on me for picking it, but I had tunnel visioned onto the apple sausage. Then I tried the half moon peach crepe. I had expected fresh peaches, but got very sweet marinated or canned peaches instead. It was better than the first crepe, at least it had the ice cream so it wasnt dry. But it was unimpressive for a $14 crepe. I had expected a restaurant with 'creperie' in the name to have a better selection if crepes. Maybe avoid those and pick something else off the menu. As a positive, I am now learning to make crepes.
Having to wait 20+ minutes just to order on a slow Sunday when the restaurant is not even 1/3 occupied is quite disappointing and the wait staff was not in a hurry either nor friendly (who is “thank you” or “you’re welcome”??? I don’t know her) - no tip for y’all, I guess!? Menu is huge BUT don’t you think about asking for any substitutions whatsoever. “Choose anything you can think of to make your own omelette!”, turns into “Except for that”, “no we can’t do that either”, “no that’s not possible” (I asked for shrimp to be added to the omelette, which are on the menu in many variations) Everything is reasonably clean though, albeit outdated and a bit shabby. Food: bland, boring, overcooked (that salmon was DRY), salad was wilted (with some rotten bits for “flavor”), even the fries were sad: tasteless, squishy and no salt at all. Think retirement home cantina food and you’re spot on. At least you’ll get a decent portion of the less than mediocre fare. Having worked in restaurants myself, I feel like this is a disappointing experience all around.
It's set up so you order before you sit. The staff however was busy and doesnt give you any sort of indication for this. they just stare at you walk in, no hi welcome, ill be right with you etc. They only come to the register after you get to the register. But again, if there was no indication or sign, its really confusing for new comers. Coming from someone who runs a cafe in san jose as well, there should be signs or something verbal from staff at bare minimum. Food. We got the Florentine Benedict (Spinach and mushrooms) and a Lovers Crepe (nutella, whip and icecream) Both were an absolute miss. Im not one of those people who cant eat pork for religious or cultural reasons so I wasn't outraged by this but it was off-putting to find cross contaminated bacon in my Florentine. We ate half of the plate when my boyfriend mentioned the spinach hurt his stomach instantly. I didnt notice anything but i couldnt tell if the spinach was rotten or just cooked. We'll see if they hurt my stomach and I'll update you. My boyfriend completely stopped eating. As for the Lovers crepe, its simple. But if you look at the menu you'll see two crepes. we only got 1 crepe for $10. Insane priceing when plating wise it looks like a toddler smacked Nutella on the crepes with their fingers and splarted whipcream on the plate. I have a crepe maker at home. This is respectfully, not $10 worth of crepe even considering cafe markups etc. A la carte crepes (plain, with nothing included) is $5. Its water flour maybe milk and eggwhite with a pinch of salt for the batter. you can easly make 15+ of this with a small batch. I dont think I'll ever come again. (Third time in my life). This review is only for my most recent visit but i dont remember anything outstanding about this place either since i went to SJSU in 2019. I recommend you save your money. Non-existent service, cross contaminated food, questionable product quality issues and overpriced items. Honestly youd have a better meal unrolling the crepes from Costco, putting it on a plate with reddiwhip and vanilla icecream for about the same $10(plus tip) at this point.
