Had a great experience at El Chaparral, and Samantha absolutely made the night. She works both as a bartender and server, and she handles it flawlessly. Drinks were made perfectly, service was fast, and she kept the bar running smoothly even when it got busy. Samantha is friendly, professional, and clearly knows her craft—great recommendations, great energy, and excellent attention to detail. She made us feel welcome and taken care of from start to finish. Employees like her are a huge asset to this place. Highly recommend sitting at the bar and letting Samantha take care of you!

This was our first visit to any El Chaperral location. We are visiting friends in the area and they suggested the Boerne location for dinner. As soon as you pull up to the entrance, you are somewhat in awe of the parking availability. Huge lot with plenty of parking. One thing many businesses fail at is ample parking, especially at times when the restaurant is busy. I drive a long bed pickup and when I can easily get in and out, you already start with an extra star. The restaurant is spacious as well and you have enough room to talk without feeling like you are involving the tables around you. The drinks were on happy hour, so that was a nice surprise. There were five of us and everyone ordered something different, which allowed us to check out the various dishes. All were good portion sizes, and all said their food was tasty and good temperature. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning on a future trip to Boerne.

It was my first time at the location with the family and it did NOT disappoint! First, the atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant was so fun and relaxing. Their art work, lighting, and music really elevated the experience to get our taste buds ready. I like how they pay attention to the details. The refried beans and barrack beans were amazing. The homemade flour and corn tortillas tasted like abuelas. Rinae also did a great job serving us. They also have a fun outdoor playground that the kids really enjoyed. My only critique is that I wish the plates came with a bit more food and some “extras” (like diced tomatoes and lettuce with the enchiladas like other restaurants do). Overall, my family will be coming back again. I have my eyes on several other dishes to try!

Let’s get the basics out of the way: the ambiance was stellar, the food phenomenal, and the drinks cold and delicious. Now I want to talk about service. Absolutely unparalleled. In what can only be described as a momentary spot of insanity my husband and I decided to take our two children (3 and 18 months) out for dinner at 7pm (we called ahead to make sure there wasn’t a wait) and from the moment we entered the restaurant we received some of the BEST care I think I’ve ever had. Our main waitress, Julie, I think was an actual angel. She was patient, kind, caring, and attentive. When she offered a spare plate for our 18 month old she brought a regular plate and a plastic to go cup (which we GRATEFULLY accepted). She even brought little balls or tortillas dough for the kids to play with completely unprompted. She never hesitated to offer a high five or listen patiently to my children’s incoherent ramblings. Both my kids decided to flag down another waitress (I believe her name was Katelyn) who patiently knelt down and listened as my 3 year old described his age, his birthday party, and his favorite toy all without so much as batting an eye. Even if the food was ice cold and the drinks came with melted ice I would come back here for the service alone. Also worth mentioning is the fantastic playground and lovely patio. Plenty of parking as well. We cannot wait to come back!!!!

Went for a late lunch, and it wasn't crowded. Asked the Hostess if patio seating was available, and she happily seated me outside. Waitress, had brought out some warm chips, salsa, and some beans, I had forgot her name took my drink order, and quickly returned with what I had asked to drink. She took my order, had the Texas enchilada plate. The food was hot, and had that TexMex taste, and was quite tasty. She checked up on me often, and was very attentive. Definitely will go back when I am back in the city.

My sisters and I celebrated my parents 80th Birthday on September 28. It was such a pleasure working with Pat and Sam. Our wonderful server, Taylor, was so patient and kind with our family and friends. The food and margaritas were really good too. Thank you so much!

We went to the new Boerne El Chaparral Tuesday 5/30/23 at 4:15 and was seated immediately by a friendly hostess. My wife had arrived about 5 minutes before me and had been seated immediately also. None of that silly “all parties must be here before we can seat you” policy. My wife had already received her drink of choice (water) and there were chips and an excellent sausa on the table. I asked for a hotter sausa and an order of Guacamole and it was quickly brought out along with the complimentary tasty bean soup. We ordered our usual favorites from the Helotes location, chicken enchiladas and the Carlos Special. Our delicious food was delivered within 10 minutes. Both plates were excellent. Carlos, the owner, came over and asked how everything was and we told him it was very good and better, by far, than any other Boerne Mexican restaurant. We told him how his Helotes location had been a favorite and how happy we were that they were now in Boerne. He explained that it had been a real struggle that lasted 4 1/2 years since they bought the property. After we had finished our main courses we ordered a wonderful order of soapapilas. Then one of Carlos’s sons came by and asked how everything was. We ordered a piece of coffee cake to go and had it the next morning. It was large and so good. A 3 man walking group of musicians added to the ambiance. We then went out back to checkout the patio and the beautiful grounds. There we ran into Carlos’s other son who explained how they were going to build a children’s playground. There is already a game room that is enclosed on the back patio. We told him how much we had enjoyed the Helotes location for years and were so excited they were finally open in Boerne. He said their family was equally as excited to be here. The pricing appeared to be about 10% higher than the last time we visited the Helotes location. It may not be higher than the Helotes location now. I have noticed all restaurants have raised their pricing in the last 3 months and I certainly understand. I don’t begrudge them as I am sure their suppliers have raised their prices. As we left at 5:30 we noticed there were a lot of folks waiting now for a table so go early if you wish to not wait.

Lovely owners and workers, Good selection of food . I love it but I don't have much to compare Indian food from.

Meet up with friends who actually live in the area. A basic no frills Indian but that should not detract from the fact that the menu offered lots of choice. All four of us had different dishes and they were all very tasty. We had a power failure near the end of the meal which spoiled things a little. But a good experience.

Solid overall experience. I’m sure it will take a moment to streamline things and get the food consistent. Obviously as you would expect with any new restaurant, wait times will be long. They are currently not offering reservations l, so plan accordingly. We did have a 1 1/2 hour wait l, but the staff was very friendly and energetic. When we did get seated, our waiter was good and friendly. Very loud in there so it will be hard to hear and carry a normal conversation. Overall food was good and served relatively fast. My issue mainly was the chips and salsa. To good of a restaurant to serve basic store bought chips. Looking forward to this place getting better and a welcome addition to the food scene in Boerne.

The ambiance is fantastic and the building is fresh & clean. They really went above and beyond on the building. It's stunning and the staff were all so kind & helpful. Plenty of parking, alot of indoor seating as well as patio seating. The bar was large & fully stocked. We had a short wait (20mins) to get in but happily sat at the bar and enjoyed Margaritas. Prices are fair , service was friendly and quick. We will return for the bar 100%. Cons: The food was served quickly but tasted mediocre. It's definitely edible, but there's nothing to talk about.

Wonderful food and service. The atmosphere not so much but the food weigh up for it!

Changed its menu to be restricted. Chicken dishes or curry only, white rice only and no drink included. For this you pay 2 Euros more. I know times are hard but this is too much for too little. Far better before the changes.

I want to start by saying that we love good Mexican food. And we love visiting Boerne. While on a recent getaway - we decided to try this place because we were craving some authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately- that is not what we got. We had requested outdoor seating because the weather was absolutely beautiful. The hostess was very sweet. Our waitress didn’t show up for a good 10 minutes, but we were ok with that because it was such a beautiful night, and we had such a great view. And we could tell it was very busy. When she did come, we ordered a Jalapeño Pineapple Margarita (for me) and a Beer (for my husband). Ten minutes later, she brought us chips, salsa, charro beans, and waters. She told us the drinks would be out shortly…& took our food orders. We both ordered the Carlos’ Special. While we waited, we enjoyed the chips and salsa and charro beans. The Charro Beans were a little too tomato-y for our liking…and the salsa was too mild. Next - I kid you not - less than 10 minutes later, our food came out (but still no drinks). This was shocking (and a little concerning) that our food was ready that quickly. My husband asked about the drinks, and she said they’d be out soon. Ten minutes after that - our drinks came out. The food was mediocre, at best. It also was not hot. The meal reminded me of these microwaveable TV dinners my dad used to buy me on Friday Family movie nights at the grocery store. Where the nostalgia was nice, the meal was not great. I did thoroughly enjoy their rice, and the Piccadillo taco. That taco was my favorite part of the meal because the shell wasn’t all soggy and falling apart. It was very crispy and yummy. My husband felt the same way about his meal. My Margarita was my favorite part of the night. HOWEVER. This was the first time in the history of my life that I was unable to finish a drink. Because it came so late - I was already almost full from my meal. It made me so sad to not finish, but I just couldn’t. And that was very disappointing. Not just because it was tasty - but also because it was pricey. It just felt like a waste. Not long after we’d started drinking, our waitress came To take our payment. Even though we still had plenty of food and drinks left, and they had over an hour before closing. I paid, and when it got to the tip, she stood there, watching, and making us so uncomfortable. I haven’t had that happen in AGES. What’s hilarious is - we left shortly after…& realized that we’d been there for less than an hour, total. Even as we left, the sweet hostess said “Wow! That was quick! Done already??” And we just laughed. If she only knew. The shining parts of this whole trip were the hostess, the tasty margarita (once it FINALLY came), and the view. Aside from that, I don’t know that I’d return. Maybe to meet up for drinks, but that’s about it. Overall, it was just a very disappointing experience.

Been at this restaurant for the first time for a takeaway, absolutely disgusting, never again, avoid like the plague had to give it one star so I can post this review.

Having a holiday home in the area, we decided to give these a try seeing as they are local, and based on the better than average reviews. We ordered a take away and were impressed at the fact that they offer a delivery service, where as most other competitors do not. We received the order quite punctually, and upon emptying the bag, i noticed the decorative boxes in which the food came in. Sadly that's the only positive i have to give in this review. As for the food......well, it was simply the worst Indian meal we have ever had. In Spain, or at home. The pilau rice, although colourful, was bland and tasteless. It was not cooked with any spices at all, and had no aroma. The curries were also bland and tasteless. They had no spices and no hotness to them, and the sauce was watery, which to me indicates that a freezer and a microwave had been involved in it's preparation. They contained very few ingredients other than the chicken and sauce. In fact, i would go as far to say that visually, it was like the curry sauce you would expect when ordering a portion of chips from the chippy and asking for curry with it, only no where near as good! I could of done better myself, and do, and i can buy frozen curries from Tesco which are far superior. The naan bread was small and the garlic and herbs on it were charred black, which in turn was reflected in the taste. To call it Indian food would be insulting to Indians, and there are far better establishments in the immediate area. I would not feed the food to my cat, and i am amazed that they have a rating of 4.4/5. To top it off, they failed to deliver the promised free bottle of wine despite spending way over the minimum 20 euros. Maybe they had a bad day? Maybe they had a very very bad day. But we will not be ordering again to find out. Much better (and cheaper) out there. It's a shame as i want to speak positively about local establishments, i sadly can't about this one.

After taking my family during the holidays here on a trip, I had to take my business (table of 5) team here in 2026. My team met up for a meeting in Boerne the week of 1/11-1/13 2026. We decided to go here Monday night on my suggestion. The food was so good and still is, but the service and communication this time when I took my team this past week was a huge miss. Im not sure if the server is new but she needs some coaching. We received our food and never saw her again. Soon after she dropped the food I kept looking for her as I wanted another margarita. 20 minutes went by and she finally came back at 8:15p. I finally got to order another margarita and she came back moments later and said the bar was closed. I did ask her, what should've happened here? Maybe a last call? etc. She said with a snarky tone, 'well i did ask you if you wanted anything else'. That was 25 minutes ago and she ghosted us after she dropped the food off. I realize you close early on this day, but the focus obviously was on closing, not on the consumer. Also you need to fix the Gnat issue. I wont be going back.

Update: Feb 2024 Jim's Cafe has hot food and worth the drive . That's where I should have gone. Went to El Chaparral for breakfast. The server said we had to get our order in quickly if we wanted breakfast, so we did. We ordered blueberry pancakes, and eggs, Huevos a la Mexican plate and potato and taco and a chorizo and eggs taco and orange juice. We waited a really long time before the waitress came back and said they were completely out of orange juice. And they had no other juice. Ok then just ordered water. Then another wait she comes back and says she doesn't have potatoes for the taco or for the Mexican plate. Asked if we wanted to order something else. We asked for bacon. And only one taco of chorizo and egg taco. Then she come back with the cold pancakes/ no butter or syrup. A plate of eggs, another plate of eggs, beans and rice. And a taco of eggs and four cuts of potatoes. And the chorizo and egg taco. Which appeared to have been sitting for a while cause the tortilla was soggy and tearing. And left over peices of bacon and ham. It really looked like scrap bacon. Then another 5 minutes come back with butter and syrup. Omg. Just awful service. The waitress kept on saying it was miss communication with the kitchen..... But meanwhile, the next table that came in after us they got their food way before us. Apparently they knew each other. We are regulars at this place too. But Terry my friend quit a little while ago. I hate to think that they were prejudice or racist..... So we eat the sloppy breakfast with poor service trying to keep my cool. Then she comes back with the bill..... and asked it we wanted desert on the house. I said no. And asked to speak to the manager. Another 8 minutes before he comes out. I explained the situation and he says I'll talk to the waitress not taking any responsibility for how poorly the restaurant he was operating. He is the one that is responsible. And hides behind the wait staff. Extremely disappointed. I have family that comes in from SA cause they love the lunch and dinner here. But I will think twice before coming back here. Take a chance or not. This is not my first review for this place or others. ........ Original review first visit Everything on my plate was fresh made and delicious. I had the Valerie plate which had fresh beef fajitas seasoned just right, rice very similar to my homemade rice, very good. The plate also included a cheese enchilada and homemade chili sauce (not the red wolf brand chili). Plus I do not eat beans but omg!!!! The beans were delicious!!!! They were probably refired with the fajita grease for flavor but they were not greasy or fat leaking out of the beans. The Green Enchiladas were very good, the chicken was actually seasoned. The chamoy flavored was excellent but the Jeje was the bomb. It has pineapple juice and orange juice in the mix all while complimenting the tequila. They offer homemade tortillas which where very good. The service was surprisingly impressive! It seemed that everyone working was so happy to be there. Smiles every where I turned. Thomas was our waiter and had great recommendations, very pleasant and our food was brought out to us fast and HOT. They only thing I would change is the hot dipping sauce. They have the type that is fresh tomatoes onions and jalapenos dropped in a blender. It's ok. They probably have lot of people helping them train the staff and probably professional interior designer. They have smart devices..... check out the samsung mini split. They are up-with the technology. The tree out side with the hanging bottles is my favorite. We were there at 4pm, not busy at all. Update: Different experience. I want to try all the Margaritas, and the Luna Rita is the least favorite. The beer was not cold enough.... it melted the Margarita. It didn't look appealing at all. We tried different plates, the garne Guisada was very good. It is extremely flavorful without being spicy hot. The Sofia Nachos were ok. See more pics.
