Opinions de Julio's Mexican Food El Paso
Great food excellent atmosphere. Every time I visit El Paso and I'm wanting to Mexican food this Is the place.
Jasmine was our server for me and my coworkers. She gave great Service 10/10. I kind of wish the salsa was a little hotter since this was the only Mexican place I got to eat out there. Food was tasty.
It was so good compared to the Westside one. Brenda was our server and she was great. The food was hot and so tasty. This was the experience that I wanted my family from out of town to have. The Westside location did not do anything but wish you picked somewhere else.
I just had what was most probably, the best eating experience of my life here. From the moment I entered, the atmosphere was inviting and warm. Our server Javier was truly impressive and played a major role in my positive experience. He walked the line between professional and friendly perfectly! He also seemed to genuinely care that we had a good experience. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d worked there for quite sometime. If the place wouldn’t have been named Julio’s I would have assumed he’d owned it because of his knowledge and caring. The food was spectacular; I tried the chimichangas, enchiladas and carnitas. All of which were out of this world. I’m excited to go back!
Andrea was a great waitress and the food was wonderful.
Great selections of traditional Mexican lunch options.. We will be back!!
Waitress Valeria awesome job!! Very professional and attractive.
Great food, great service, and friendly staff. Large portions too. Every time I visit El Paso, I'm going back.
Valeria our server is very knowledgeable, courteous and very helpful. Recommend highly - Valeria.
Delicious authentic home made flavors from the salsas to their main dishes! Excellent service. Great food quality and nice ambiance, especially weekends with soft live music. Precious owners and staff! Congratulations on your new location in Horizon!!!! May God continue blessing you !!
Very generous portions, great food and atmosphere. Love it
The bartender, Daya gave excellent service, she was very attentive and knowledgeable with her drinks, she recommended the mula mexa 10/10. Really recommend this place for anyone who’s looking for real authentic Mexican food.
Live music today very good, the food excellent and the service more, thanks to our waitress Layla for attending us and always being on the lookout.
The server mirta was very professional, polite and attentive to her customers request. She made sure my food came out on time, hot, and fresh, would 100% recommend.
The arrachera Aguachiles are fireeee! Highly recommended. The sause is slightly spicy its soy sauce based if you don't like too much condiment don't get it. I also recommend the Carajillo it's a kahlua alcoholic drink, non sweet but great taste! Great service. Clean place. I loved it!
Daia had great service!! Very sweet and quick. Food was great! Will be coming back, thank you Daia!
Excellent food, great service and friendly staff. My waitress was Sophia and she was very kind.
Excellent food and much better service, thanks to my waitress Layla, very friendly and always attentive
I went with my family for celebrating a birthday and we loved the food and service given by the waitress Sophia 😘
Andrea was awesome. We had a large crowd and she took excellent care of us.
Wow is one word to describe this gem. Julios was recommended by locals and friends who live in El Paso. Everything they make is from scratch and you can tell. Margaritas with the best choice of tequila, deconstructed tortilla soup so the chips aren't soggy, and a specialty Mayan dish with shredded slow cooked pork...finished off with sopapillas with chili cinnamon. Who would have thought to put tajin around the rim of watermelon margarita?! Julios! Best service by Mike and the bartender (sorry didn't catch your name)! Left really full and happy!
The food is very good. I went to the buffet on Saturday and I loved it. A blonde girl named Sophia served me and she was very friendly from the start. I will definitely return.
My friend and I came here for lunch and drinks. This place never disappoints when I come into town. I had drinks at the Joe Battle location yesterday, then came to this location today.lol. The food is great but my absolute favorite thing is the cucumber margarita! Please don't ever take this off of the menu! I look forward to eating and drinking at Julio's everytime I'm in El Paso. The service is great and the wait staff is very attentive. Keep up the good work!
Exceptional service and food. The margarita was DELICIOUS 😋 Be prepared - there's a cash discount, so go to the ATM before Julio's 💰💸 One thing, the cleaning solvent is very pungent. While it's nice to know the place is clean, the smell can be overwhelming.
We had a party and had wonderful service. Servers on point, helped with cake. It was just a wonderful experience.
Lunch menu has a very good variety of food options for lent. Capirotada was delicious, sweet taste was perfect. I would have given a higher rating for the atmosphere, but the restaurant was super hot, no fans and no AC on. There was also a table of approx 12 people and they were loud and obnoxious. I think large parties should be in a different room.
Our waitress, Sophia, was very pleasant and provided excellent service. It's been a long time since I've encountered such attentive and kind service. I highly recommend this restaurant, not only for the delicious food but also for Sophia's exceptional service. I would definitely return if only she served me.
Com here quite often with my Godfather and mother. Food is delicious but the quality of service is what really makes the experience enjoyable! We usually always ask for Valeria, as she's become our favorite server. :) Definitely a wonderful worker and super attentive!
Excellent authentic Mexican food, good prices, and excellent service from the staff. Thanks, Layla, for your great service. By the way, I never thought I'd find a fellow Dominican so far away from home! 😅
Sophia had excellent customer service she was on top of our needs. Very good atmosphere and great food we ordered mole enchiladas-tamipiqueña steak-and carnitas we were a group of 4. Thank you Sophia you were excellent!👏👏👏👏
Nice clean Mexican restaurant with great atmosphere, like the atrium and skylight. The waitress forgot some items in my order to go and I called it in, the next evening and Ernesto corrected it, he made it good. Thank you for good customer service! I will keep coming back and I am egar to try other items from the menu.
We came for the weekend breakfast buffet and it was so good! It had lots of options, both savory and sweet. Service was very friendly. Some live music was there as well making a very nice atmosphere. This might be the best breakfast in town!
First time here for me & mi esposa. My wife ordered the Pescado al Mojo de ajo and a tamarindo margarita. I ordered the Chicken Mole Poblano which was amazing. Definitely the best mole I've eaten out at a restaurant and possibly as good as my wife's (almost). The corn tortillas were prepared exactly how I like them, on the comal. We ordered the guacamole to start with and I did think it was a little light on flavor, so I added some salt. Otherwise the food was fantastic as was the service. Bien hecho, Sofia.
We had lunch today to celebrate my sister birthday. I ordered the tacos pirata plate with lentils soup. My husband had that, too. My birthday sister had a fajita plate, and my other sister had the beef flautas as well. Our server was Carlos. He took care of us and brought us more drinks, our appetizers, and extra napkins. The music was great and the service was awesome.
The Albondigas soup was really nice. Their red salsa has flavor and heat it was best I've had eating out in El Paso. I been here 5 years. The atmosphere is really nice we were a large party. My food was great. Several people in my party didn't eat their food as it was too salty or cold. I can only rate my meal. Tge pictures say it all.
We dropped by for lunch on Valentine's day. We got there just after 11:00 and there was no wait. The food was great, and so was the service. The music was just loud enough for us to recognize the songs but not loud enough to interfere with conversations. The lent specials were good and reasonably priced. Julios always delivers a good meal at a good price.
Food was great! I had the sopa Tlapeño! Authentic!! The service was as great as the sopa! Attentive! Love the decor! Great foe celebrations, overall great! We will be back.

Came to celebrate a baby shower, which had a catering event. All the food was amazing! Very flavorful and the staff was courteous and the ambiance was casual.
Julio's is one of our favorite restaurants to go for dinner. We love their chicken mole poblano and great margaritas. We've never been disappointed no matter what we order.

Breakfast buffet until 12 on Sat and Sunday. Good is good. Need to be a little warmer (food) good choice of drinks ( included in buffet). Can order tacos de barbacoa which is included in buffet - not advertised though need to ask) also tortillas corn or flour. Menudo with meat or without ( best menudo besides my mom :) - need to ask which side available. Very friendly and good service.
This is a good spot for foodies, and I have to immediately shout out their Arrachera Tacos—they are genuinely delicious! The steak was perfectly seasoned and tender, and the tortillas were fresh. Easily the highlight of the meal and a strong reason to return. Warning about the atmosphere, particularly the live music. While I appreciate the attempt to create a lively vibe, the band was way too loud. It was honestly difficult to have a conversation without shouting. More importantly, the music itself wasn't very engaging. It felt like a distraction rather than an enhancement. Parking can also be difficult.
This buffet is a little more relaxing than others I've tried. I like that some of the dishes are brought to your table and you don't have to be getting up. The server was very attentive. We have received excellent service. The breakfast buffet includes the drink. It was a nice treat. Enmoladas were delicious. The beef fajitas were good, although I didn't care for refried beans and couldn't switch with charros without paying an upcharge. The lunch menu is pretty reasonable. I had the shrimp quesadillas, and they were good!! The Mexican Plate was good as well. Today's visit was for a family gathering with a buffet-type meal. Everything was delicious. The arrachera fajitas are pricey but good.
Great restaurant for Mexican food. Although, my chimichangas came cold which tells me the meat was sitting in a cold tray and they didn't cook it long enough. It was immediately rectified and the replacement was delicious. The tres leches cake is absolutely delicious, however it is extremely rich so keep that in mind when ordering. Nice experience and good environment. I will return.
I have been to julio's multiple time and they have great food and service. I usually stop in for a quick lunch when I land in ElPaso. I had the chicken enchiladas with red sauce and they were excellent. Only reason for 4 stars was the chips for the salsa were soggy and stale. Overall very good and recommended.

I have eaten at Julio's for over 30 years. Disappointed today! The Mexican Plate not good! Real salty enchilada sauce, greasy soggy relleno and taco shells very tough.
The thing about this place is the oods good but not fantastic and here's why, it takes soooooolong for the servers that ur food gets cold or other people are done eating at the table before you even get your food drinks are always empty. Even drive through like seriously why does it take 45 mins to get a to go order. The food would be fantastic if it was warm at best.
I took just a few minutes to realize why I quit dinning here. Cold 🥶 food and ok selection. It was supposed to be a great brunch for my spouse birthday 🎂. I did not complain. It is what it is. Cami great service 👍 thanks busy morning. I appreciate very much the support for Veterans discount. I hope this helps to understand that you can't let your guard downset in this business. Thanks very Respectfully Disabled Navy Veteran and certified chef. The Journey Continues.
This restaurant has good authentic Mexican dishes and everything is served fresh. My only complaint is that it took a pretty long time for us to order food. We got drinks and an appetizer and the server took a while to come back and take our order. The food did come out in a timely manner and everything did taste great however. I would come back to eat here again because the atmosphere was great.

Food was really good but the service was lacking. The waiter actually set the hot plate on the opposite side of the table and I had to use my napkin to place it in front of me. The table next to me with ladies, he made sure to place the plates directly in front of them
I really never review restaurants but I was disappointed I order 3 crunchy tacos with meat and cheese only. Needless to say it came with tomato and lettuce . I told our waiter and he took it back and just scrapped everything out add chesse to the same tacos. My poor Nephew had to pick everything out why couldn't we just get new tacos. I didn't bother with complaining just paid for my food and left I will never come back. Sad walked in with high hopes.
I don’t know if Mr. Orrantia reads these reviews? But, I think he should since he runs this location. I came here on Saturday evening because of the happy hour from 3 to 11 pm. As you walk in to the left there is a lighted board above the register that has the specials. It clearly states, Happy Hour-Saturdays from 3 pm until closing. So what did I do? I had 2 margaritas. When it’s time for me to pay, I got charged regular price. I told the waiter and he said, there is no Happy Hour on Saturdays. I let him know the sign in front says, there is Happy Hour on Saturdays. He had to call the manager and she no, Happy Hour! I told her yes, go look at the sign! She comes back to the table and apologized but could only deduct $2.50 from the final bill. I let her know this is false advertising/deceptive business practices! You cannot advertise happy hour on Saturdays and when it’s time to pay, you decide it’s not happy hour! Happy Hour for a margarita is 6.00 and regular price is 8.50. The waiter Cesar Troy, like always, was rude! He had about 3 other tables around us and never asked us for refills or asked us if we wanted more tostadas. When I asked him for he a refill he seem annoyed and bothered. He can see we needed refills but continued to talk to talk about his life at the table next to us! It’s too bad Mario was not working, he is a great server and so is Giovanni. If you ever go to Julio’s ask for Giovanni or Mario. You can also sit in the bar area, Diana is great at bartending!
Extremely expensive and definitely not as good as the food you would get from a mom and pop Mexican restaurant. I wouldn't waist my time here when you can get way better food down the street at a real Mexican restaurant. 1 person cost $52.××. If the food was amazing I wouldn't have cared about the price but it was bland and my baked potato wasn't even cooked all the way.
Food in general my daughter got food poisoning we were not impressed too expensive for the tope of food

I don’t know how there was such a big range of quality difference for food. It almost felt like the guacamole was left out and they still served it. The steak was too tough. I’ve had better!!

Horrible service. Soup was cold and soggy. This young manager/asst. manager went around tables to ask "how is everything?" I explained; he did nothing about it!

I am not sure how this place has such great reviews. We ordered an appetizer, got it at the same time as our food. When we received our food it was ice cold and we sent it back after waiting 45 min for enchiladas. No accommodations to our bill, nothing. The waitress did apologize and She said she would take it off the tab and did not. We didn’t want to argue with anyone and just paid and left disappointed. The food was very lackluster, had potential if actually warm.
My husband found chewed-up gum in his beans, which completely ruined our appetites. The chicken was dry, and his flautas were over-fried. We’ll never be back. They did take off the meal, but I feel like they should have comped everything. We were so disturbed and disgusted, we didn’t want to make a scene, but I honestly feel like I need to go throw up! 🤮🤮🤮🤮
dont fall for the $11.99 lunch trap, they offer 4 plates but 2 are extra charge, also if you ask for tlalpeno extra charge, really? how muck it would cost them to make tlalpeno soup? mexican food now expensive and is tortillas, chesse and sauce, not coming back
Horrible horrible HORRIBLE, the food taste like it’s been refrigerated for weeks, i get nauseous just even talking about the food, the waiters were good, just the food is so bad, whoever is in prep needs to get there stuff right because the food tastes like it’s been stored for days, so gross
I went on January 21 2024 to have breakfast with family and friends. As we were leaving the place we told them thank you and left a 40dll tip to the young gentlemen that took care of us. We left the place and as i was turning to get into I-10 i noticed thats i had left my sunglasses on the table so i turned around and went back and nicely asked for my sunglasses and they told me to go ahead and check on the table that I was sitting on, i went and check and the sunglasses were gone. I approach the waiter and ask him to see if he had picked up the sunglasses on which she said I’m sorry, but I didn’t clean the table so I approached the manager, and the manager stated that there was nothing left, and there was nothing that could she could do on which I replied with can you please check your cameras, The sunglasses are worth $350 dlls She said I have no access to the cameras. We will take your name and I’ll have my manager contact you on Monday on which I replied the sunglasses are here i’m not gonna wait till Monday I just left 7 minutes ago she said I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do, I need a password to get into the system and I don’t have it. My manager is the only one that can access it. I went ahead and called the police, police came by, I showed them the photos. They went inside the restaurant, check the cameras and came out with my sunglasses. Horrible experience. When the police gave me the sunglasses I noticed that there was a long hair stuck to the sunglasses, i have short hair. Be careful when you go to that specific restaurant on Gateway
Avoid breakfast wait till lunch, they dont know how to make over easy eggs or the difference between hasbrowns or tatertots whats worse the waiter doesn't even know their menu
It was my best place. The last time I went to celebrate my son's birthday 🎂. The food was not good and the service was neither. I requested the sopaipia with sugar, no salt because they give me that sopaipia with salt. They never said that they will give him a capirotada. He had to give it to me because he has allergies to some nuts and it wasn't good. It didn't have a good flavor. 😞
This was my second meal to Julio's. Every time we go to a Mexican restaurant I order the "Plato Mexicano". The reason is the plate will have all the main foods to judge their food. The plate was cold both times. But this time the guacamole had some dark pieces. This means it's not fresh. The beans looked like they came from a can, this may be because the beans are purred. The shredded meat in the taco was cold. The enchilada was not cooked all the way through or it could be the tortillas that are being used,it was hard to cut. No, sauce on the chile relleno. Julio's did comp the guacamole. The service was great and they were attentive. Also, the server should be sending back plates or menu items that are not to the restaurants standards.
Not a good place, they don't not have waitress with knowledge or good cooks, must improve food taste and service.
Quick summary of our awful experience at Julio’s. Our server, Andrea, started by telling us we couldn’t order happy hour drinks, even though it was still 11 minutes till 7:00 and happy hour hadn’t ended yet. So I went to the bar instead. Kevin, the bartender, ignored me while serving others, then started cleaning dishes. I finally had to ask him directly to make my drink, and by then it was 7:01… so suddenly happy hour was definitely over. Convenient. Back at the table, my parents asked Andrea for lemon for their tea. She said they didn’t have any, despite multiple nearby tables having plenty of lemon. Noticing a pattern here. We ordered food and waited over an hour for it to start coming out. When it finally did, Andrea served everyone except my brother, then casually told him, “He don’t have your food, would you like anything else?” He ordered chicken enchiladas. Not a complicated request. My mom asked to speak with a manager and was told “no, he’s too busy.” (Spoiler: he wasn’t.) When the manager finally came out, he apologized and said they were short-staffed, yet they were still seating tables in the overflow room. Meanwhile, multiple tables around us had also been waiting over an hour with no food. Fountain drinks and teas were never refilled, drinks ordered with specials were forgotten entirely, and overall the service was impressively bad. Unless you’re a masochist who enjoys wretched service and creative excuses, do yourself a favor and skip Julio’s.
The place itself was nice. But that's it. We've been here before and the food has been great the service is questionable. But yesterday was horrible. On a Wednesday, I thought the service would have been good. The rice and beans were dry. They might have been old. Leo our waiter was nice but he probably didn't have any experience. I had to get up and request refills and other stuff we ordered. I didn't receive everything that was on the menu. Hunting down the waiter, old food does not make a going out experience fun. Taco bell would have been better for $40 but at $143 bill feels like we've been mugged. Never again will we make my way over here just to get robbed. 1 star only because we can't give a minus 3 stars. Do yourself a favor. Go to Chico's or Taco Bell hell even MacDonalds at least you know what you are getting!!!
Took my mother to eat here because of food has always been really good , but yesterday taking her there because I told her the food there was really good but the food was horrible the rice was old and dry beans tasted burnt and the service sucked we spend most of our dinner flagging someone down to bring us drinks plates it was a very bad experience it's sad cuz the food was always good there but yesterday I think I rather would have eaten at Chico's tacos will be the last time eating dinner there. I wondered why the place didn't get packed anymore now I know why. And this place really needs to train their waiters our waiter half of the time he was lost the atmosphere was the only nice thing of yesterday's experience having dinner there. If you want to eat good Mexican food this this wouldn't be a place I'd be recommending.
We were seated but not given menus and had to request them. The chips were served cold, as though they had just come from the refrigerator, and the salsa tasted more like watered-down canned tomatoes than something freshly prepared. When I ordered my enchiladas, I asked for queso instead of red sauce, but what I received was just a small sprinkle of shredded cheese on top—not what I expected. The guacamole seemed prepackaged rather than fresh, and the beans were dry and tasted like they had come from a can. Overall, the food and presentation did not meet the standards I would expect for the price. If you’re looking for a higher-quality dining experience, I would recommend trying another restaurant in the area.
