Opinions de Jalisco Mexican Restaurant Elgin
We were treated so well by Karla and Gerardo during our family dinner in this great Elgin restaurant.
Very friendly staff and prompt service. Good variety of choices and options from their menu and the drinks look amazing. Ordered their fajita beef quesadilla and it came out great! Photo worth cheese pull and excellent flavor on the fajita beef. The meat was tender and grilled to perfection. Ordered a beef burrito as well and that came out excellent. The salsa and pico de gallo were fresh and flavorful. Really recommend the green salsa as it’s got a little spice and some great flavor. Looking forward to coming again soon and trying more!
I want to thank the waitress that helped me find my wallet. It fell out of my jeans and landed between the wall and the booth.Cool restaurant with great employees
Attended the Lion's Club meeting in their private dining area. Food and service was top notch!
So my parents and I happened to be in Elgin around dinnertime last week so we decided on Jalisco's because none of us had ever been and the menu sounded interesting. First of all, their menu and their reviews don't lie! They have pretty big portions for their fajitas and any of their other dishes. Dad got the chicken fajita which he said was pretty flavorful. The only issue he had was they only gave him 2 tortillas for the fillings which wasn't going to work. Always ask for double the tortillas at least because there's a lot of filling. Mom got a cheese quesadilla (half order) and it still covered most of her plate. She was pretty happy with that since she doesn't do spice (no jalapenos for her lol). I, on the other hand, ordered the camarones a la Mexicana (Mexican shrimp) and was amazed that the 12 shrimp on this dish were large sized (definitely not salad shrimp for this dish). It's on top of Mexican rice that was so flavorful and then covered with cheeses, onions, bell peppers, ranchero sauce, and sour cream. This is definitely 2 meals for most people, and the flavor was so intense! The waitress brought over so additional salsas so I chose to top it off with the Verde sauce. Total yum! This dish has so many flavors hitting you all at once that it's like a party in your mouth! It's got some bite, but it's not so spicy that it's going to make tears come down your face. I would highly recommend this dish if you love shrimp as much as I do. We didn't get any alcoholic drinks, but they keep retopping the sodas. I looked around at other tables that had alcohol and the glasses are pretty big; even for the beers. The prices are reasonable for the size of the portions for sure and the restaurant has a great atmosphere around it. Parking could be an issue if it's a Friday or Saturday night probably so keep that in mind. We went on a Monday night so there was some parking spots still available at dinnertime, but it does share a parking lot with other businesses. It's right behind McDonald's and on the main road so getting out of the lot (depending on the time of day) might be an issue too. All in all, I think I've found my favorite shrimp dish to date and would highly recommend you trying this or something else on their menu yourselves to make your own determinations.
We went on a Saturday night. They had karaoke in the back part of the restaurant, which was pleasant. The noise wasn't overpowering so you could still have a conversation at your table. The serving sizes are wonderful. We both had enough leftover for a whole nother meal so go with an appetite. Our food was fast and delicious. And our server Brittany was pleasant along with the rest of the staff. We will be returning. We had the chicken poblano and the ground beef chimichanga. We recommend both.
The food was amazing. I LOVE their salsa because it had a little spicy kick to it. If you're sensitive to spicy, watch out. Everything was so tasty even when I was hung over. They have a decent size of food, so you may have some left overs. The servers were very nice. There may be a language barrier, but they were great listeners and got everything that we wanted correctly.
The steak burrito was tasty. The salsa had excellent flavor with a good amount of spice and the tortilla chips were super thin and crunchy. Also hot sauces that they offer paired nicely with the burrito. Service did take a while and some of the tables were left unbussed because they were short handed but they were doing their best to keep up. The staff was very nice though.
My food was great. Someone ordered at my table ordered the fajita nachos and the meat was slightly overcooked and dry. We had the best waitress. She was quick and accommodating
Great place to eat!! After a long hot Texas day of hunting indian artifacts at GT's dig in Elgin, we found this little Texas treasure to cool off and fill our bellies!! Food was amazing, perfect margaritas, the atmosphere was festive and cool, and the service was excellent with big smiles from our server!! We will be back!! And, that's a fact!!🇲🇽🌮🌯🫔🍸🍹
Take out / to go orders it always seems like I’m missing something from my order every time. Today they forgot my Horchata. I ordered from Grub Hub. It not like I can go back and grab it when I don’t have a car. They just refunded me which is fine but the whole purpose was because I love their Horchatas!! Not happy!! 😡
The foods ok, but the service makes it hard to come back. Terrible service, and I hate posting bad reviews, but this is my second time with the same results, absolutely lacking in the service.
I see they have updated. Love the update. Didn’t care for the food.. you can tell they are getting cheaper & lazy with food products. Food tasted like plastic. Order beef fajitas skilled for 2 people for $35 & only TWO tortillas came with the meal .. adding extra tortillas was an extra $2 and that’s was only for 2 more .. chips were store bought.. not made like before.. I hope to see improvement in the future.
So disappointed in their breakfast. I ordered 5 breakfast tacos (3 ingredients each) and a chips and salsa and it was 33 bucks! And the tortillas were hard and they put eggs on my wife’s tacos then took them off so there were small bits of egg in her tacos. Oh and the tacos were the size of mini tacos or street tacos. We won’t be back.
We came from Dallas for my daughter's cow show at the Travis County Exposition Center. My husband and I decided to try this place out since our hotel is walking distance. We decided on the Carne guisada plate, the food was ok. The chips and salsa was great. I could eat all day. So we ended up getting 2 drinks. We were going to order 2 margaritas mangonada and ask what they're prices were, we were told $12. Nope, sorry, but I'm not paying almost double on the mangonada just to add the mango syrup. We did end up get getting 2 margaritas, and they tasted so bad that i sent it back. They dug for tequila for the bottom of the trash can b/c it was gross. I was very disappointed.
Disappointed after second visit. The egg, potato, and cheese breakfast tacos were good this morning (even though I think it was American cheese, tasted really bad when I got a mouthful of just cheese and tortilla at the end) so we went back for lunch. We each got Jalisco Nachos and we won't be going back. The chips are just chopped tostado shells that were burned around the edges and so soggy on the unburned parts we couldn't even pick them up. We had to eat with forks. I had the chicken version and my chicken was so dry and overcooked I picked it off. My husband's steak was the same and he labeled his plate as 'slop' and I agree. The guacamole was good though, we got ours on the side. Very large portion of guac and sour cream. The green salsa has no heat to it unfortunately. At least the batch we got. Luckily Elgin has a large amount of mexican restaurants to try, hopefully they'll be better quality. 2 stars because the breakfast tacos were good, even if bland with questionable cheese. Restaurant was very clean when we went this morning and smelled amazing, which is why we went back for lunch.
We have been coming to this restaurant for about 3 years on and off. There aren’t many options around the area. The food is ok overpriced for mid Mexican food. One of the reasons we keep coming back is our favorite server Gerardo. He always makes us feel like we are at home. He is verry attentive and always provides exceptional service. If you do end up coming to this restaurant I would suggest asking for him. It will at least make it worth the money you spend. The food tastes better when the service is awesome! Thank you Gerardo for always making us feel at home.
