Opinions de Miyozen Emeryville
Good quality fish, great quantity, friendly chef, nice service, and restaurant was very spacious and not too crowded. Generally, the nigiri are a good price with lots of fish. We enjoyed the salmon belly nigiri which is slightly seared. The salmon is very fatty and tasty.
Absolutely delicious sushi. Super fresh and sushi rice is on point. We got the Threes Crowd for Three combo and every single piece was wonderful. We were three people and left about 3 sushi pieces and 1 sashimi because it was just a little too much for us as it also comes with a deliciouussss salad and miso soup (also on point but didn’t have pieces of seaweed like I got used to). We arrived at 3pm and were the only people there (since most of the clientele go for the Conveyer belt sushi at 5pm) but there was constant to-go orders being taken out. The service was wonderful as well and very attentive including the chef. Please go you won’t regret it! Definitely top 3 sushi places for me.
best all you can eat sushi near Berkeley. fish is fresh and service is excellent
I needed a quick lunch and they took care of me quickly. The food was great. The restaurant is very big and cozy.
It was a bit pricier than expected, but the food was high-quality. I bought an appetizer, a green tea, and two rolls, and the total was about $45 (excluding tip). Will definitely be back!
lovely little sushi joint - do the buffet conveyor belt if you go on the weekend, so worth it. hospitality and attention to service is phenomenal. very sweet team!
I've been here probably 10 times and I'm sure that number will only go up. The servers now recognize me at the front lol. One of my Emeryville faves! I've had take out and dined in and it's really good both ways. They package the takeout very thoughtfully, especially if you have spillable soups or other dishes in the bag. The atmosphere inside is very chill but good for families, friends, etc. I always just eat on my own. They have anime playing on the TVs, usually with captions so you still know what's going on. Service is super nice. I'm a simple roll type of person so I'm fond of the salmon roll and the spicy tuna. Good cuts, pretty decent price, always yummy. Miso soup is good but I usually opt for the vegetable tempura. Grilled squid is yummy but not for everyone. Fried oysters are crisp and I like them better with just a drizzle of lemon rather than dipped in the sauce. The sesame balls for dessert are soooo good and always leave me stuffed. Truly a great place and now they have a revolving sushi bar over the weekends (Fri-Sun) so I'm definitely going back to try that out!

Our first time here and we LOVED everything! The fresh sashimi, the rolls, the customer service, AND the studio ghibli decor was a 10/10! The owners were so sweet and we enjoyed talking to Susan so much! If you're in the area give them a try they go above and beyond to make your dining experience the best it can be! We loved the food and will be back next time we are visiting the city!
I ordered 12 rolls for a group of friends last night and the service was really great. My friend has a lot of allergies and Miyozen went above and beyond to make sure there was no cross contamination. We will definitely be ordering from Miyozen again!
Miyozen is mine and my husband’s absolute favorite sushi spot. Even though we no longer live in the Bay, we come back for a meal every time we visit. Over the years, Helen and Susan fed us with warmth, kindness, and delicious sushi. No other place serves better fish than Miyozen does.
First thing you should know about this hidden gem is that it is an homage to all things studio Ghibli. They run different movies on the screens and have loads of artwork on the walls. The second and slightly less important to my 17-year-old daughter was the quality of the fish. OMG it was so fresh and Rich. It felt like it had been swimming a few hours earlier. The staff was lovely, friendly and inviting. Parking is tricky, fortunately the Safeway across the street had ample free parking.
Helen was incredible. We took our friend out for a celebratory dinner and we had great food for an exceptional price with drinks and desert. Helen was so funny and really made our night.
Food was delicious! They have an AYCE conveyor belt, but we opted to order sashimi platters and rolls since we had 8 people. The staff was so friendly! The space is much larger inside than it looks, so it's def a good place to do celebrations for a big group.
Have gotten take out many times and have always liked their variety and quality of sushi rolls and venti boxes. Dined in at their AYCE sushi belt last night and was skeptical of the quality. But I wasn’t disappointed. Many different dishes including grilled salmon collar, tuna and salmon sashimi, and high quality belly nigiri. Def recommend and would go back.

Very cute restaurant, went in for the $50 ayce sushi belt. Was totally worth it, the fish was extremely high quality and they had otoro! Normally deserts at asian restaurants are basic but this place had the best chocolate cake I’ve had in a long time and great mango pudding. The manager was super friendly and each time her cooks put out new sushi she told me what it was. 5/5 stars!
one of the only conveyor belt places in the east bay! you can pay by individual plate (3.99-7.99 per plate) instead of AYCE ($49.99)which i recommend because there weren’t a lot of options on the belt and certainly not enough to make a meal of, but i think this is because the server told us they were really understaffed that day. the fish was so fresh and the cuts were impeccable and our server was so funny and sweet and gave us little candies. will definitely be back a little earlier in the night and plan on ordering some rolls or a bento as the main entree next time. loved that they were playing spirited away on the tvs too!
The dragon ball appetizer was incredible, and the penthouse roll was good but not amazing. Happy to bump this rating up to a 5/5 if I can find myself a roll I like as much as the dragon ball appetizer. I’ll definitely be back Edit- we went back to dine in and give it another shot and this time we went with the coconut shrimp, spicy fried California roll, and crunchy jalapeño roll. The jalapeño crunch was my favorite. The plain ramune Japanese soda was a hit too! I’d bump this up to 4.5 stars because I loved the ambience at the restaurant and eating the food fresh definitely helped the taste. I do however feel slightly uncomfortable walking up to the restaurant because the neighborhood can feel a bit deserted and sketchy at night time
The sashimi on the chirashi and the roll was fresh. But the others, such as fried chicken and tofu, were okay, not quite authentic. Price was comparably less expensive then the other Japanese restaurants around. Not so many people on a Saturday evening.
Really solid family Styled sushi joint, not hampered by its metropolitan location, where the orders come really quick, because the experts and their sharp knives are on the case! Great place to bring the kids, and everything is priced fairly. The fish is fresh
Food was great, service was polite but extremely slow. Only two other tables were occupied at the time we got there and we sat for ~10 minutes before even getting menus/water. Atmosphere is typical, nothing amazing but it was clean.

The food was fine, but pretty expensive for what you got. Chirashi/sashimi was the smallest I’ve ever gotten aside from fancy omakase experiences.. thin and small pieces, with overly seasoned, vinegary sushi rice. That was pretty disappointing but what made the experience worse was that there was no AC or air flow in the restaurant. It was probably 80ish degrees in the restaurant. When we left, it was significantly cooler outside. Others may not be bothered this but for me it was really uncomfortable and unpleasant. Overall I think there are many better options for sushi/Japanese in the east bay.

Disappointing bento box. Tempura was badly fried with no flake or crunch. The shrimp tempura was very small and skinny. In general, seem to skimp on quality ingredients. The tempura sauce had some strange citrus flavor in it. It’s not complicated folks Chicken teriyaki was thin and dry, overcooked. Maguro sashimi was pretty good. Rice was very low quality with irregular grains of small size. Miso soup had tiny pieces of tofu. If it’s so small, just leave it out altogether. Service was ok, but the waitress would disappear to the front section and abandon the dining room for long periods of time. Charged for each tea. Automatic 20% tip was added to the bill. Ugh. Dining room is quiet and spacious with widely separated tables. Low lighting. Lots of unused space.
