First time trying Pig in a Pickle BBQ, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the beef brisket, baby back ribs, mac 'n' cheese, and coleslaw, and everything was excellent! The beef brisket was unbelievably tender and juicy, with a perfect smokiness from the California White Oak. The flavor of the meat was so rich and delicious that it didn’t even need any sauce. The baby back ribs were equally impressive, falling off the bone with every bite. The mac 'n' cheese was creamy, and the coleslaw was a refreshing complement to the meats. Without a doubt, this is the best BBQ I’ve had in 2024!

Delightful flavors danced on our taste buds, exceeding our expectations with every bite. The hot links proved to be a symphony of tastiness, and thanks to the insightful recommendations from the cheerful staff, the mustard sauce added the perfect zing to the experience. The beef brisket, a true star on the menu, was a mouthwatering delight. Tender, succulent meat paired seamlessly with the mild sauce, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. The cornbread, subtly sweet, provided the ideal accompaniment, enhancing the overall culinary journey. The potato salad, a flavorful addition, was undeniably a big plus, leaving us savoring every moment. Not only did the food shine, but the gentlemen taking orders and crafting our culinary masterpiece were beacons of niceness and helpfulness. Their stellar customer service elevated the entire dining experience, making it one of the best I've had in a while. A heartfelt thank you for a meal that not only filled our stomachs but also warmed our hearts. Cheers to exceptional flavors and top-notch service!

On the price your side but completely worth it... It is Some of the best barbecue brisket I've had in the bay the meat so soft and melt-in-your-mouth go with the hot BBQ sauce to complete the flavor profile it is worth every cent. The mac and cheese is really good but for the best side go with the cornbread and the potato salad. They might recommend the third town but go with at least half a pound it is that good you'll want more.

Hotlink was amazing! Well worth the $10. Loved the spice and smokiness. Fatty parts of the fatty brisket were pretty good. Sauces paired well with the BBQ and other foods nearby. Will try some pigs and pickles next time.

I come to Emeryville for work regularly and we t to Pig in a pickle for the first time and was not disappointed. The brisket was amazing, the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious and the beans were fire. I was happy that I went here and can't wait to try the other proteins o. the menu!!

Excellent brisket! Tender, juicy, flavorful - better than a lot of the BBQ places in Texas and around that I've had. Highly recommend -- get about a third to a half pound per person. It's not cheap but definitely worth it.

I was born and raised in the south so i feel qualified to review bbq. I was blown away by the quality of the bbq and fixins (sides). The slaw and banana pudding are the best ive ever had. I have not had grade A bbq on the west coast since moving out here until today. The sauces, meat, and sides are all on point.

Some of the best brisket I’ve had in the Bay Area. They asked me, what I liked, so I took a mix of fattier pieces and leaner pieces. Yum. Good brisket is hard to find around here.

As an amateur bbq/smoking guy, how does this place have a 3.9? I almost didn’t order based on the google reviews but something told me to give it a try. I ordered the brisket as well as hot links and both were fantastic. I’ve been doing briskets myself and while they are fantastic, it’s a ton of work and candidly, I think this place taste better. The only thing I will say is the brisket was not strongly seasoned and I can see folks in that area wanting salty but the smoke was perfect. Definitely coming back here again to try the other offerings.

Best BBQ in the bay, hands down. Brisket is better than anywhere else, ribs are delicious, and you got to try their potato salad.

Excellent food! Even so good that we went back the next night for more! We ordered brisket, hot links, ribs, and potato salad the first night. All super good. Great flavor! Mild bbq sauce is really good. The next night we went back for brisket, chicken and Mac-n-cheese. Oh, and the cornbread is yummy!

I decided to try this place for lunch today because I hvnt been but got confused with the menu. I saw people having bbq sandwiches but it was not on their menu. I decided to ask the service person about the sandwiches and he said I can order any amount of meat and they can put it between a bun. I ended up ordering half a pound of brisket ($15), a hot link ($8), a small potato salad ($3.5) and cornbread ($3) with a side of mild bbq sauce... with tax & tip, roughly $35. So not cheap but I did order a few things. Let me just say, both the brisket (fatty - my preference, not lean) and hot link were delicious! I wished I ordered more because my husband ate most of it (he was waiting on his burger & fries from another place😒). The sauce was tasty as well as the potato salad! The cornbread was plentiful n served with some honey butter. I would definitely order from them again. SO glad, I have another fav place I can go to, to get something to eat here at the Emeryville Public Market.

Amazing brisket. I think some of the best in the Bay Area. You can choose between fatty or lean, and theyre both very good. Corn bread is massive and really good as well. Mac and cheese looks not great, but its significantly better than it looks. Chicken and ribs are just okay in my opinion. And the sauces are all very sweet, even the spicy one, which needs more of a kick too. Overall though very friendly people, budget friendly, and really great brisket.

Orders the following for a total of $33. Sausage link: 5/5 seasoned and cooked well with your choice of sauce. Brisket chili: 3/5 chunky full of meat but lacks flavor. Mac & cheese: 3/5 cheesy but lacks flavor *** idea I tried - mix the chili with the mac and cheese - still lacked flavor. Greens: 5/5 they put their foot in them greens Potato salad: 5/5 very good!

I wanted to like this place, but it does have it's flaws. First they sell their meat by the pound, but it ended up $2.00 more than avertised price. The ribs were dry and sold at room temperature. The sides were just warmer then room temperature. The sauce was just okay. I assume you must take your food home to heat it up yourself. In conclusion: The food was okay but nothing great.

So I decided to finally try this place. Everything is Ala carte. I ordered two slices of fatty brisket, four pork ribs and a hot link. With mild sauce with a touch of hot sauce added and two sides, Cole slaw and potato salad. The brisket was fine, not much smoke, but had a large amount of fat. The ribs were mealy and reheated. Pork ribs lose their bright red color and go to a brick color when reheated. Couldn't taste the rub and very little smoke flavor. The hot link was plump but basically a polish kelbasa. The sauce was oily. Places stretch their sauce using oil? The potato salad is not memorable at all and the coleslaw was mixed to order and that application fails cabbage as cabbage needs some time for a dressing to break it down a bit. How a place cannot come up with a stellar potato salad and Coleslaw in the bay area is beyond me. And really the sides are what got under my skin. The cook and hold of bbq is standard fare but the sides are there to really shine. I think bbq in California at least Texas style is hard to pull off. I'm not saying don't try the place I'm just saying temper your expectations. And I still have a problem with a square terminal asking 15, 20, 25% tip for fast casual where there is no real service. And no complimentary pickles, bread or onions? Nothing extra.

Ordered take out and didnt leave a tip. He left the bag on the counter, didn’t say a word and walked away after the transaction was processed. I was the only customer and no one else was waiting. I reached in to grab the bag and go. Hot link was good, but I would expect a bit more flavor on the brisket.

The ribs were ok. It was missing something. Very dry. The Mac and cheese no flavor. I tried putting pepper but no good. The really disappointing part was the service. The two guys at the counter seem aggressive and agitated. Like they didn’t want to be at work. I don’t think I will be coming back

I cannot say this is the best or even good BBQ. As a Flint’s kid I should know. I’d also like to add the customer service sucked...The guy that helped me seemed a bit cantankerous and contentious. I almost walked away, but it smelled good so I continued with my order. I noticed the menu was À la carte which I didn’t like…then I paid $28 for a half rack and one link. That was a bit pricey for unseasoned meat. I would have gotten some potato salad but it was overloaded with who knows what???? Anyways I’m feeling disgusted after eating this. Meaning my belly hurts. I’m thinking the meat was raw after further inspection. Pretty pink. Trynna kill me huh? You can surely find better BBQ at Smoking Woods in North Oakland Temescal area on Telegraph. Their meat is smoked and seasoned well. Also, their staff is friendly and they have an outside seating area with a TV. Never coming to this place again. I only gave two stars because it smelled good. Lol.

WOW! Did Chef Damon just tell me, "We don't give samples" after I requested to taste the sauce of the chili?!? It really was him. So, I paid $6.00 for a "sample" that smelled like burnt car oil, and of all things ... it tasted like burnt car oil smells. The beef was so chewy I couldn't get the strands to separate as I chewed. I spit out the first and last bite ... completely disgusting. It really did LOOK good. I was totally suspect when the guy said I couldn't have a taste of the juice. Really?! THE JUICE (dip a fork into the juice, pull it out and let me taste the juice.) That really was a sign that I elected to bypass because I really wanted chili, it looked beautiful and I took a chance. EEWWWAA. I'm 75 years old, grew up with certified red necks who could whip up chili mouth watering chili, they made the best greasy finger licking ribs in the world (the ribs at Pig in a Pickle BBQ are dry and tasteless ... the freaking fat isn't isn't even good!) and red neck mac and cheese was to die for (the mac and cheese at Pig in a Pickle could be what killed "them"! LOL! It's terrible!). Folks, it's dry and tasteless. How on God's earth can someone come up with dry and tasteless mac and cheese. WHAT?! I am officially done with Pig in a Pickle. I don't know how these people are in business, but everyone has the palate they have. Had the Chef been even kind, I would wish them all the best ... however, EEWWWAA, the emotional vibrations of a chef, happy or cranky, are cooked into the food, folks! No Bueno here. The young man who took my money was a total love.

Order ribs, macaroni cheese, and collad green. The only thing eatable was the macaroni. The ribs were cold, the sauce was watered down. Very dissatisfied with the meal for $55. First time and definitely last time eating here. Save your money bbq at home.
